Hello, my name is Julia. I am one of the 27 dogs rescued from the hoarding case back in October. When I first arrived, I was so scared that the safest thing felt like disappearing. I did not know what people wanted from me. I did not know if hands were kind. I did not know if voices were safe. So I stayed away, watched from a distance, and tried to make myself as small as possible. I am still shy. I am still careful. But I am not the same girl I was when I first arrived. My progress has not been as big as some of the others, but it has also not been as slow as the most traumatised ones. I am somewhere in the middle, slowly trying to understand that maybe the world is not as frightening as I thought. I now go out to the playground walking on a lead. I do not need to be carried there anymore, which is a big step for me. I may not march around like I own the place, but I go. I try. I move forward. And lately, something else has started to happen. I have become interested in the volunteers...
