Cloe, a 6 years old female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel X Bichon Frise available for adoption from Many Tears Animal Rescue in Wales

Many Tears Animal Rescue

Cloe

Wales
SexFemale
Age6 years
BreedCavalier King Charles Spaniel X Bichon Frise

Cloe is a very worried little lady who has come to us from a breeding environment and is still learning that people can be kind. It is clear she has had very little positive experience with humans in the past, and as a result she finds trust incredibly difficult. She can be flighty when worried and may choose to protect herself if she feels pressured or uncomfortable.Cloe is a sweet but complex girl who has already shown us that, once she truly trusts someone, she has a wonderful and affectionate side. With her favourite member of staff, the very first person who cared for her when she arrived, she is a completely different dog. She happily approaches for attention, enjoys gentle fusses, is comfortable being picked up, and greets him with excitement and affection. Watching the bond they have built is incredibly special and shows just how much potential Cloe has when given the time she needs to feel safe. However, trust does not come easily to Cloe, and she remains very wary of most people. She is still uncomfortable with handling from those she does not know well and may nip if she feels she needs to protect herself. This is not through malice, but simply because she is frightened and has not yet learned that she does not need to be afraid.Cloe will need a calm and quiet adult-only home with no visiting children and adopters who have experience of very worried ex-breeding dogs. Her new family will need to understand that building a relationship with her is likely to take time and that progress will come through patience, consistency, and allowing her to make her own choices. The best way to win Cloe over is to let her approach on her own terms. She needs people who can resist the temptation to rush her and instead allow her to work out for herself that they are safe and trustworthy. Once she reaches that point, we believe she has the potential to become a truly loving and devoted companion.Cloe absolutely loves the company of other dogs and will need a kind, calm, and confident resident dog in her new home. Having a canine friend gives her comfort and reassurance and will help guide her as she learns about life beyond the rescue. As she has never lived in a home before, Cloe's adopters will need to be patient as she learns all about home life, including house training and other everyday routines. She does not yet walk on a lead and harness and will need time to become comfortable with handling before this training can begin.Although progress with Cloe may be slow at times, she has already shown that she is capable of forming strong bonds when given the opportunity. In a loving home where she has all the time in the world to build trust, we believe she will continue to blossom and reveal the sweet little girl we know is there.Cloe has had 7 teeth extracted at the time of her spay, as well as an inguinal hernia repaired. She also had a lump removed from her right upper eyelid.Cloe has a travel document.Cloe has been given the Gift of Life by Carol Unsworth

CP is a lovely boy who needs an extra special home.CP came into our care from one of the local pounds, due to having a sore leg they were unable to rehome him. He had xrays and assessments with our vet and also got a second opinion, but it was discovered that the bones in his leg was deformed and causing him great discomfort and due to him not using the leg the vets said the only option was amputation. He has recovered well from the surgery and it hasnt held him back one bit. He is infact much happier and care free now.CP is great with other dogs of a similar size, currently used to living with three other dogs with no issues, but he can find larger dogs overwhelming. He is absolutely fine with cats and could live with a cat no problem. We were told that CP is child friendly, but we think he would be best in a home with teens and over as he can get worried at times, and he can also bond hard with some people and not always want to share the attention (this has caused him to snap at some people on occasion). He spends most of his day currently snuggled up under the duvet in my mothers room. He has become her shadow and loves being close, often spending the night snuggled up right against her back or face. So im sure he will bond with the next person just as much and very quickly become your best friend. He hasnt shown signs of seperation anxiety. He is good in the house, but might need some house training as he settles into a new home and routine, he currently uses puppy pads if we are not home. He has never been noisy or destructive whilst within the home. He is also used to a crate, but we dont use it very often.A secure garden would be required for his safety.

Freddie Male 7 1/2 Years Cavalier x BichonFreddie has had numerous stays in the sanctuary. We are determined that Freddies next adoption will be successful.Freddie has displayed aggression on numerous occasions in the past. Most of these incidents have been around resource guarding of items he considers valuable to him, or reacting fearfully when being interrupted where he is resting. Our behaviourist has indicated there may have been a pain element to this. Freddie has now been on a pain relief and hopefully he will be more comfortable in future.Cute things about Freddie –His little underbite. The way he waddles when he walks. His fave toys- dinosaur, octopus and caterpillar. His enthusiast morning greetings to his fave people.Freddie is the most clearest example we have seen of a dog preferring women over men. With having had so many unsuccessful adoptions we will now saying that Freddie should live in a female only home. There must be no children living or visiting the home. Prospective adopters should be prepared to work with our behaviourist and staff at the sanctuary to help set the home and Freddie up for success. Adopters should be tuned in to dog body language and have experience of dealing with similar behaviour issues. Some small dogs feel the need to shout louder to be listened to so it is important we listen to Freddie’s communication.Assistance will be provided by way of our Aprils Wish program to help with behaviour. Further assistance will be provided by our supported adoption scheme where we will continue to pay for Freddie’s pain relief.Freddie may be able to live with another dog pending successful meet and greets. .* .We are open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1.30pm – 3.30pm.If you are interested in offering this dog a home and you meet the criteria listed, then please click on the following link to complete an online application or visit us during the above days and times. If you are being considered, we will be in touch to arrange an appointment for you to meet the dog and start the rehoming process. All parts of the form must be completed to ensure your application can be processedIf you are being considered to commence the adoption process you will receive a call from a number ending in 081 or 993; due to time constraints there will be a limited timescale to answer or respond to our message.Dog Adoption Application

Holiday, a 2 years old female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel X Bichon Frise available for adoption from Many Tears Animal Rescue in Wales

Many Tears Animal Rescue

Holiday

Wales
SexFemale
Age2 years
BreedCavalier King Charles Spaniel X Bichon Frise

Holiday originally came to us from a breeder. She was adopted and found a lovely home, but sadly it wasn't the right match for her and the resident dog wouldn't accept her, so she came back into our care. Holiday has now moved to a foster home where she is settling well and learning all about home life.Holiday is a very scared girl who is overwhelmed and clearly hasn't had much socialisation before. She finds human interaction quite worrying at the moment and is very hand-shy, so she will need a patient and understanding home that can help her come out of her shell at her own pace. Holiday's initial instinct is to run away from you and she isn't keen on being picked up or handled. She finds this so frightening that if she feels pushed beyond her comfort zone, she may react by nipping out of fear. She did nip her previous adopter once when she became overwhelmed during handling.Holiday will still be looking for a calm and quiet, adult-only home with no visiting children. She will need adopters who have experience with scared ex-breeding dogs and who will allow her to settle slowly, with no pressure or expectations. She relies heavily on other dogs for comfort and reassurance and will need at least one other kind and confident resident dog in her new home to take her under their wing.Since returning to us, Holiday has begun to make some really encouraging progress. At the rescue we have been working with her on very gentle touch, always entirely on her terms and she has been doing well with this. She has recently moved to a foster home where she is settling in and is now happy to approach her fosterers to take a treat and will sniff their hands. She is very curious when the other dogs in the home are getting gentle fusses and the next step will be getting her used to a gentle fuss in her foster home.Minus her brief adoption, Holiday has never lived in a home before, but she seems to be enjoying life in her foster home, she likes to spend her evenings in the living room sitting on a rug or by the sofa and isn't phased by the TV. She has so far been clean in the house and loves to snuggle up with the other dogs in the kitchen overnight. She has been left home with other dogs for a few hours and coped very well.Holiday doesn't yet walk on a lead and will find this quite overwhelming, but she has visited a secure field with her fosterers and absolutely loves spending time there exploring and watching the other dogs play. She has even done a little sprint around it!Holiday is a very special girl who will need someone willing to go slowly and earn her trust, but for the right home, the rewards will be incredibly meaningful. There is always someone out there for every dog, and Holiday is patiently waiting for hers.Holiday has been given the Gift of Life by Ellie Worron

She is a sweet and gentle girl who is a little worried to find herself here, but she has been easy to handle and is already becoming a very inquisitive little girl! It's clear that she is trying so hard to be brave and really wants to come and say hello, so we don't think it will take her too long to come out of her shell in her new home.Lady is looking for a calm and quiet home where she can settle at her own pace and build her confidence, she would benefit from adopters who have experience with ex-breeding dogs. We would consider homing her with gentle dog savvy older teenagers. She takes great comfort from the company of other dogs, so she will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help her feel secure as she settles in. We have found that she gets on best with male dogs, particularly those who are a little larger than her, as she can become a bit pushy with female dogs. For this reason, she will be looking for a home with a calm and friendly male canine companion to be her best friend. She can guard her food bowl from other dogs, so she will need to be feed separately in her new home and will need adopters who are confident managing this, but she hasn't shown any signs of guarding treats.Lady has never lived in a home before, so she will need patient and understanding adopters who can help her learn all about home life. She will need support with the basics such as house training, learning to walk on a lead, and discovering that the world isn’t such a scary place.
