FOSTER OR FOSTER TO ADOPTDexter is a beautiful 2 year old, male Border Collie (Tricolour Blue Slate) who is looking for an understanding home. Someone who enjoys having a dog but doesn’t feel the need to be talking to or cuddling it all the time.Dexter needs a quiet and spacious home No children, no cats or small furries. He does get on with calm female dogs subject to meeting and we think a female dog would help him. He is not comfortable around male dogs.Dexter has been bred from working stock. He is not yet neutered due to his low confidence but he is chemically neutered and we would look to continue this for the foreseeable future. He would suit a couple or a single person with a large outdoor garden or land. He appreciates his own space, a place where he can get away on his own for a while.Dexter can be affectionate and playful but it is on his terms. He doesn’t have a nasty bone in his body, but he sometimes finds the world overwhelming and needs to go off into a quiet space to collect this thoughts.Unlike collies and working breeds in general, Dexter does not need constant walks and stimulations. He does enjoy a walk in quiet woods and he enjoys being played with but equally he is happy to amuse himself with his toys in the garden.PLEASE ONLY APPLY FOR DEXTER IF YOU CAN OFFER HIM A QUIET HOME WITH A GOOD SIZE GARDEN OR LAND AND IF YOU HAVE A CALM FEMALE DOG THEN SO MUCH THE BETTER

Duke, a 5 years old male Border Collie x West Highland White Terrier available for adoption from Cheadle Animal Welfare in Derbyshire

Cheadle Animal Welfare

Duke

Derbyshire
SexMale
Age5 years
BreedBorder Collie x West Highland White Terrier

Duke has had a few years of upheaval through no fault of his own. He has been flourishing in his current home but sadly now needs to find another home.He needs a calm and understanding home with someone who has experience of collies and their natural traits so he can feel safe. He is nervous around loud noises and does not like other dogs. A pet free and child free home is best for him, so that children do not accidently frighten him. A fully secure garden for him to play in is required. He is a happy dog and loves to play with his toys. Like all collies he is intelligent and loves his exercise and playtime so his mind can be stimulated. He walks well but will pull towards his favourite walking field as he gets close! He is looking to become a wonderful, faithful companion to someone who will give him the time, activity and stability he deserves. We are helping his current owner to find him the perfect new home.

Fern, a 5 years old female Border Collie available for adoption from Arundawn Dog Rescue in West Sussex

Breed - Border CollieGender - FemaleDate of Birth - August 2021Can live with dogs? Can live with cats? Unable to testCan live with children? NoLocation - West SussexWe’ve been trying to find a suitable home for Fern for a while now behind the scenes! We’re not taking owner hand-ins routinely but were asked to make a special exception a while back. She is currently still with her owner but time is running out for Fern so here’s our last ditch attempt!!Fern has a very high herding drive, which we think would be perfect for working on a farm or life in a rural home. She is generally well trained, biddable and responds well to hand signals. She has great recall, and is also good around other animals, including livestock. However while Fern is a loving (and fairly quiet) dog at home, her strong collie traits have led to some problematic behaviour on walks (i.e. nipping when trying to control movement). Her behavioural problems occur mostly when she is on a lead by traffic or with people directly walking towards her (eg on a footpath), her behaviour can be managed if kept away from traffic and at a good distance from other people, however where that’s not possible she is muzzled.
