BreedCocker Spaniel

Bailey is a lovely older boy who loves his humans, and food, he likes to be with you all the time. He loves his walks but can be a barky boy when meeting other dogs and humans. If people say hello to him then he is happy and stops barking. He did make friends with a Labrador in foster but had to bark at her when he first met her, then he decided she was ok and played with her. He also recently met another foster dog and once introduced they were quite happy together. He does pull on a short lead but walks well on a longer one. His recall is quite good unless his nose is on the ground.Loves a cuddle and to play with a ball, he’s a chatty boy and likes to keep you right especially when it is time for food.Energy Requirements: Bailey loves his walks but needs to build up to bigger walks. He likes to play ball and loves to potter in the garden.Training: Bailey pulls on the lead, and this needs to be worked on. He will sit and stay for short spells and gives a paw. Recall can be selective so needs reinforcing.Visiting the vet: Bailey was fine with the vet and happy to be examined but the vets need to take their time with him. He hated being left there for some tests and expressed his displeasure by barking. Bailey is on medication at the moment, but as he is quite food motivated he takes his medications well. He has had a haircut and can now see out from his fringe. Travelling: He loves being in the car and will either travel on the back seat or in the boot.Food: Bailey is on dry food with some wet mixed in. He loves his food but does need to lose some weight. Increasing his exercise will help.Sleep: Bailey sleeps in his bed next to the fosterers bed and will sleep all night, but he does snore!Behavioural issues: Bailey has separation anxiety and this needs to be worked on very slowly and not until he is fully settled in a home. He is also dog reactive when out on walks this also needs to be worked on, he does get on ok with other dogs once he knows them.Home needs: Bailey needs a quiet home with someone at home all of the time due to his separation anxiety. He would be best as an only dog lapping up all the attention. Ongoing support: Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog. Here's how you can help during those first few days and nights.

Bella, a 8 years old female Cocker Spaniel available for adoption from Paws and People in Northern Ireland

Bella

Age8 years
BreedCocker Spaniel

Bella is a special girl who needs a suitable home.Bella is a beautiful little Cocker spaniel x Retriever who needs a suitable adult only home. She isnt suitable around kids, so needs a home with no kids and if any kids are visiting she would need to be kept seperately. She is crate trained, so could be placed in a crate in a seperate room. Bella is ok with other dogs on walks and can share her play area with other dogs no problem, but she would like to be the only dog in the home as she much prefers her own space. She likes playing with her toys and would play fetch all day if you let her. She is also happy to content herself running around with a toy in her mouth or watching the birds. She does walk ok on the lead in quiet and rural areas, but in busier areas she has a tendancy to pull towards fast moving objects such as cars, cyclists etc. Aslong as she gets her needs met through excercise or brain games she is a happy girl. If she doesnt and she gets bored, she can start staring at shadows/reflections due to boredom. She is used to sleeping a crate at night time. She did have a nipping/biting incident in her previous home when they tried to pick her out of the carboot while she was sleeping, so its believed she may have some sleep startle. We have had no aggression from her during her time with us, she is very food and toy orientated which makes training easier. She is a good girl who just needs a suitable forever home. Before coming into our care, Bella did suffer from ongoing tummy issues. Tests were done and it was discovered she had been dealing with an ongoing parasite infection which required special medication to treat. She has now completed two courses of this medication to make sure all the bugs are dead. But as a result of the years without treatment, she has been left with a sensitive tummy and can have flair ups of soft stool at times.

This is Benny who is a 10 Months old Working Cocker Spaniel, looking for a very experienced owner, preferably having lots of outdoor space or who works outdoors and could take him with them. He is a high drive, sharp example of a working spaniel. Don’t confuse him with couch potato spaniels you may know, he is an adolescent dog, full of himself and energy. He is excellent with other dogs and great off/on lead and in the car. The down side is we have reports that he can be challenging and possessive, especially when unsure of his environment or the situation. He will need structure, firm guidance but most of all routine and consistency in how he is handled. He will only be rehomed in a situation without children, where the new owner shows experience or aptitude with working dog breeds. As with all our dogs Benny will be castrated, vaccinated, wormed and house trained. A and B Dogs and the incorporation of an animal saviour charity. DOGHELPUS. Buddy, a 1 year old male Cocker Spaniel available for adoption from One Wish Dog Foundation in Oxfordshire

Buddy

Oxfordshire

Age1 year
BreedCocker Spaniel

Poor Buddy has experienced a lot of upheaval in his formative years and this has led to anxiety. He becomes overwhelmed in busy, stressful situations so we’re looking for a quiet, compassionate home where he can find his feet again.A clever boy, Buddy absolutely thrives on adventure and enrichment. A typical Spaniel, he’d love a home where he’ll be given jobs to do - for example agility or scent work. An active home is a must but he’s happy to chill once he has tired himself out.The stressful situations that Buddy has been in led him to nip on one occasion. This occurred when he was too overwhelmed and his signs of discomfort unfortunately weren’t picked up on. Boisterous children exacerbate Buddy’s anxiety so we’re looking for a child free home. Although he gets on with other dogs, a pet free environment would be ideal for Buddy so that he has plenty of peace and quiet. If you have experience with Spaniels and think you might be able to offer a loving home to Buddy, please register your interest below. Charlie, a 7 years old female Cocker Spaniel X English Springer Spaniel available for adoption from Mutts in Distress in Essex

Mutts in Distress

Charlie

Essex
SexFemale
Age7 years
BreedCocker Spaniel X English Springer Spaniel

This is Charlie. We’ve been taking the time to assess him, so we could be certain on the type of home he requires. Charlie is a Cocker spaniel (possibly crossed with a springer), he is 7 years old. Charlie is looking for an experienced handler, ideally someone who understands the breed/s. Spaniels are working dogs and most need an outlet to keep them happy in life - Charlie is no exception. Charlie is toy/ food motivated and is a very quick learner. He really enjoys activities that get his brain working - he would not be happy with just a walk round the block. Charlie will need structure in the house - no sleeping on the sofa or on human beds. He has had negative experiences in his first home which means he becomes worried when people come close to his face (A child use to hold him by his ears so she could kiss him). We would recommend crating him at night. Here at the kennels, he is truly a lovely dog. We don’t pressure him or overwhelm him with affection/ fusses (don’t get me wrong, he does love a good fuss!). No children. Can live with other dogs. Has lived with a cat - no issue.
