Bella, a 8 years old female Cocker Spaniel available for adoption from Paws and People in Northern Ireland

Bella

Northern Ireland

Age8 years
BreedCocker Spaniel

Bella is a special girl who needs a suitable home.Bella is a beautiful little Cocker spaniel x Retriever who needs a suitable adult only home. She isnt suitable around kids, so needs a home with no kids and if any kids are visiting she would need to be kept seperately. She is crate trained, so could be placed in a crate in a seperate room.Bella is ok with other dogs on walks and can share her play area with other dogs no problem, but she would like to be the only dog in the home as she much prefers her own space. She likes playing with her toys and would play fetch all day if you let her. She is also happy to content herself running around with a toy in her mouth or watching the birds. She does walk ok on the lead in quiet and rural areas, but in busier areas she has a tendancy to pull towards fast moving objects such as cars, cyclists etc. Aslong as she gets her needs met through excercise or brain games she is a happy girl. If she doesnt and she gets bored, she can start staring at shadows/reflections due to boredom. She is used to sleeping a crate at night time. She did have a nipping/biting incident in her previous home when they tried to pick her out of the carboot while she was sleeping, so its believed she may have some sleep startle. We have had no aggression from her during her time with us, she is very food and toy orientated which makes training easier. She is a good girl who just needs a suitable forever home. Before coming into our care, Bella did suffer from ongoing tummy issues. Tests were done and it was discovered she had been dealing with an ongoing parasite infection which required special medication to treat. She has now completed two courses of this medication to make sure all the bugs are dead. But as a result of the years without treatment, she has been left with a sensitive tummy and can have flair ups of soft stool at times.

This is Benny who is a 10 Months old Working Cocker Spaniel, looking for a very experienced owner, preferably having lots of outdoor space or who works outdoors and could take him with them. He is a high drive, sharp example of a working spaniel. Don’t confuse him with couch potato spaniels you may know, he is an adolescent dog, full of himself and energy. He is excellent with other dogs and great off/on lead and in the car. The down side is we have reports that he can be challenging and possessive, especially when unsure of his environment or the situation. He will need structure, firm guidance but most of all routine and consistency in how he is handled. He will only be rehomed in a situation without children, where the new owner shows experience or aptitude with working dog breeds. As with all our dogs Benny will be castrated, vaccinated, wormed and house trained. A and B Dogs and the incorporation of an animal saviour charity. DOGHELPUS. Charlie, a 7 years old female Cocker Spaniel X English Springer Spaniel available for adoption from Mutts in Distress in Essex

Mutts in Distress

Charlie

Essex
SexFemale
Age7 years
BreedCocker Spaniel X English Springer Spaniel

This is Charlie. We’ve been taking the time to assess him, so we could be certain on the type of home he requires. Charlie is a Cocker spaniel (possibly crossed with a springer), he is 7 years old. Charlie is looking for an experienced handler, ideally someone who understands the breed/s. Spaniels are working dogs and most need an outlet to keep them happy in life - Charlie is no exception. Charlie is toy/ food motivated and is a very quick learner. He really enjoys activities that get his brain working - he would not be happy with just a walk round the block. Charlie will need structure in the house - no sleeping on the sofa or on human beds. He has had negative experiences in his first home which means he becomes worried when people come close to his face (A child use to hold him by his ears so she could kiss him). We would recommend crating him at night. Here at the kennels, he is truly a lovely dog. We don’t pressure him or overwhelm him with affection/ fusses (don’t get me wrong, he does love a good fuss!). No children. Can live with other dogs. Has lived with a cat - no issue.

BreedCocker Spaniel

02-06-26 Daisy is a scared Cocker Spaniel who has come into our care from a breeder in search of a new start. She is finding human interaction very difficult at the moment and will often move away if we get too close. Daisy is worried by handling, so she will need careful and gentle management while she learns that people can be kind. Having had very little life experience, much of the world is still new and overwhelming to her, and she will need patient adopters who are willing to let her progress at her own pace.At the moment, Daisy is feeling a little less brave and is finding comfort in the company of her kennel friends. We feel it would be best for her to be re-homed with another large, male dog for support and companionship. Having a confident canine friend by her side will help her feel more secure as she settles into home life.As Daisy has never lived in a home before, she will need to learn all about house training, lead training, and the other basics of home life. Her adopters will need to be understanding and prepared to guide her through these new experiences with patience and reassurance.Daisy prefers to enjoy her meals on her own, so mealtimes are carefully managed here and should continue to be managed in the same way in her new home. Feeding her separately helps prevent any confusion over whose food belongs to whom and allows her to feel more relaxed. Treats should also be given thoughtfully and managed in the same way to ensure a positive experience for everyone.Daisy could share her home with quiet, older dog-savvy teenagers aged 16 and over who can appreciate and understand that she will need a gentle, quiet introduction to the home and her own space to settle in.Daisy has arrived with bilateral entropion and will need surgery to correct this. She will be booked in with our vets before adoption. She is also underweight, so we will be helping her reach and maintain a healthier weight during her stay with us. This will need to be continued in her new home to ensure she remains happy and healthy.Although Daisy is finding life quite frightening right now, there is a lovely girl underneath those worries. With time, patience, and the support of a canine companion, we are confident that she will begin to blossom and discover that the world is not such a scary place after all.She has a travel document.Daisy has been given the Gift of Life by Lynn Carrivick

Dante, a 6 months old male Cardigan Welsh Corgi X Cocker Spaniel available for adoption from Safe Rescue For Dogs in Norfolk

Safe Rescue For Dogs

Dante

Norfolk
SexMale
Age6 months
BreedCardigan Welsh Corgi X Cocker Spaniel

Dante is a small to medium sized crossbreed aged around two to three years old. Failed cat testing. Need resident dog. Respectful children 12 plus. He possibly has corgi and spaniel in his mix and has a long body on short legs. Dante came from a pack of dogs on the streets in Romania, in an area where all of the dogs were abused and many had broken limbs when rescued. Thankfully Dante bore no serious physical injuries, but all of the dogs saved are understandably wary of new people. When given time to get to know you Dante is a sweet and cheeky chap with a lot of love to give. Dante is living in a multi dog household and gets on well in a pack. He will need at least one other dog in full time residence in his new home. He is not ok with the safe rescue cat and the feeling is quite mutual. He can live with respectful children aged twelve plus.Dante fostered Norwich Norfolk.Adoption Donation Fees are Puppies already neutered and all adult dogs: £430. Un-neutered puppies on spay/neuter contracts: £530 (You will receive a £100 rebate once you send us proof of neutering). Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a secure metal crate. Fences and gates must be 5foot minimum in height and secure.

I am a very sweet and loving boy and I enjoy my cuddles or bringing you a soft toy. My life has not always been easy, and due to my past and my poor health making me feel so vulnerable I have sometimes not made the best choices. My carers know what a loving boy I am, and want to find me my forever home with someone to love me for who I am, as well as respecting the boundaries I have.I was returned October 2022 to the sanctuary after being adopted a few years before. My adopters really loved me but struggled to cope with my behaviour in the home, which my carers believe was caused by the pain I was in from my poorly ears. When I came back to the sanctuary my carers worked hard to try and help my ears but in the end I needed surgery to relieve me from the pain it was causing me. Since then, my ears have been doing much better and with that my behaviour improved as I’m not in pain anymore.Last year I was adopted and I was in a home but it wasn’t meant to be and I had to come back after just over a week. My carers think I just felt vulnerable again being in a new home with many changes. I need a lot of understanding & care so I don’t need to feel so vulnerable. I need you to look after me, and make sure I’m not being put in situations I find conflicting or worrying.Thankfully I really love being here at the Sanctuary and I have a place here for as long as I need and I know they will always be there to support me.
