Are you right for Flossy?Flossy is a super sweet and affectionate girl who just loves the company of people. She can live with confident children aged 8+ that will be comfortable with her size. Flossy is likely to feel a little anxious going into her new home, so a family around for her settling in period would be ideal. Despite her size Flossy is a gentle girl with just so much love to give her new family. Is Flossy right for you?Being a young girl Flossy has plenty of energy and would love an active home that would be keen to continue with her training. Although she can walk lovely at quieter times adopters will need to be able to manage Flossy when she’s strong on lead.

Hi, I’m Gatsby! I’m a two-year-old Great Dane with a big, strong build and plenty of character. I really enjoy my training and I’m a clever boy, especially when there are tasty food rewards involved.Even though I’m a big lad, I’m a real softie at heart. I love affection and being around people I know and trust, and I’m always happy to soak up plenty of cuddles. My perfect home would be one where I can enjoy some nice walks, spend time training, and then relax on the sofa with my family. I may be big, but I’d be happiest curled up beside you, enjoying some company and affection. ?Gatsby’s 3rd and forth photos where taken by Fiona CrawfordRSPCA Little Valley Animal ShelterBlack Hat LaneBakers HillExeter, EX2 9TA

I'm Larry I'm a 3-year-old Great Dane from Burford rehoming centre and I'm looking for my forever homeI'm a 3-year-old Great Dane from Burford rehoming centre and I'm looking for my forever home. Please read my profile below to find out more.Meet Larry a very special chap who is need of a special new home.In finding Larry's new home we are looking for new owners who have had Great Danes before that understand the breed's needs and traits. He is an affectionate and gentle chap once he knows you but can find meeting new people worrying so would benefit from a quiet home. He forms strong bonds with his humans and typifies the classic Great Dane personality: calm, loving and happiest when close to his family.Larry is good on the lead and enjoys his walks, taking time to sniff and explore. He also really loves playing with toys in our paddocks and is often seen galloping around with a ragga in his mouth play bowing at his favourite people. He is social with other dogs and has lived with other small dogs before so he could potentially share his home with a well-matched dog following introductions at the centre.Larry has found the transition to living in kennels more stressful than most and so we want his new home to be as quiet and stable as possible. For this reason we think a home with teenage or no children would be best for him and aid the transition back into a new home. He’s ready to find a loving home that understands the needs of a big, sensitive boy and can offer him stability, companionship and lots of sofa space!

BreedGreat Dane

Livi is a medium sized female weighing approximately 25kg. She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She has no known medical conditions and is not currently receiving any medication.Livi currently lives with two children aged 10 and 14. She showed a clear dislike towards the older child and although she initially appeared to like the younger child, there has been an incident where she bit him when he approached her while she was under the table guarding a bone. Due to this behaviour around children it would be safest for Livi to live in an adult only home. She currently lives with two other dogs, a 10 year old female Great Dane and a 3 year old neutered male Cockapoo. Livi strongly dislikes the Great Dane and has never settled with her. Her relationship with the Cockapoo improved after around a month of living together but she will still occasionally attack him without any obvious trigger, pinning him down while growling. Due to these ongoing issues it is felt that Livi would be best suited to living as the only dog in her new home.In contrast, Livi is described as being amazing with cats. She currently lives with cats and interacts with them calmly and gently.Livi struggles significantly with visitors to the home. She growls and barks at strangers and remains wary even of family members who visit regularly. She is particularly uncomfortable with men and if they attempt to stroke her she may bite. There have been several incidents where she has reacted defensively when people approached or attempted to interact with her.Livi has bitten in a number of situations. One incident involved her guarding a bone while resting under the table when the younger child approached her. On another occasion she bit a family member who had been sitting nearby for some time when they reached down to stroke her. There was also an incident involving a regular visitor who had gradually been building trust with her by respecting her space and offering treats; once the treats stopped she attempted to bite him. These incidents suggest that she can react defensively when she feels threatened, crowded or when resources are involved.Livi does show some resource guarding behaviour, particularly around high value items such as bones. She often chooses to rest under the kitchen table where one of her beds is located and can become defensive if approached while she is there with something she values. On walks Livi generally behaves well. She walks nicely on a lead using a choker collar and long rope lead and tends to stay close to her handler. She remains wary of unfamiliar people but with reassurance is usually able to pass them calmly. In secure areas she may sometimes ignore recall and wander off before returning, so she should only be allowed off lead in safe and enclosed spaces.Livi is fully toilet trained and crate trained. She initially enjoyed her crate but now prefers sleeping in one of her two beds, one located in the bathroom and another under the kitchen table. She settles well overnight, usually sleeping from around 9pm until around 6am. During the day she can be left alone for around three to four hours and remains calm and non destructive. She travels well in the car and generally enjoys walking and spending time with her trusted person. She dislikes unfamiliar dogs and busy or unpredictable environments, but enjoys calm surroundings and quiet companionship.
