These boys deserve a home as wonderful as their big hearts. They are an absolute joy to have around and would definitely suit a home where their humans are nearby. They can be left alone for short periods and are more than happy enjoying each other’s company with no issues at all. They are fully housetrained, although they do require a little encouragement to go out if it’s raining! They are early risers and absolutely LOVE their food — they will definitely let you know when it’s mealtime. Aside from that, they are happy, gentle boys who love nothing more than sofa snuggles. Their favourite thing is being on the bed with their humans and they will very happily take the offer of being under the covers if allowed. They are a delight to walk on the lead. Off lead they tend to stay nearby, although their recall does need a bit of work. The good news is that they are very food motivated, so with some dedicated training this shouldn’t take long at all. There has been some occasional counter surfing, so as with most sighthounds, food left on the edge of the counter is definitely a risk! Apollo is a little more timid, quiet and reserved — the sweetest boy. Axel is the more confident one and adores a fuss as much as humanly possible. They are polite with other dogs, although they can sometimes get a little excited when sniffing. With a bit of continued training this won’t be an issue, and could happily live with other canine companions, or having lots of walking buddies! They travel well and wait politely to get in and out of the car. They don’t currently play with toys; we’ve introduced them slowly, but they’re far more interested in cuddles and being close to their people than anything else. Enquire to Adopt Apollo Enquiry Form

Bandit is a shy but loving boy seeking his forever home.Bandit is a shy but loving boy seeking his forever home. He came into rescue due to a change in his owners circumstances. He is a more shy and timid natured boy until he gets to know you, but his confidence is growing daily. He is great with other dogs and would benefit from a home with another dog. He does walk well on the lead, but can get spooked at times, but some gentle reassurance and he walks again, this will continue to improve with time.He has been raised around kids, but given his shy nature a home with dog savy kids 8yrs and older would be best. He travels ok in the car, we use a crate and a cosy bed and he normally just lies down and has a nap.Bandit didn't live inside a home before, his owners had him in a kennel setup. So he will need some house training and patience's to help him settle into a new home. In rescue he is currently inside our home and I'm general is a very calm boy who spends most of his day relaxing on his bed.He will need a secure garden, and ideally someone home alot initially, but he would also be ok with another dog there instead, but you will have to allow for some potty accidents as he settles in and learns how to be house living.

Meet Blossom – a beautiful 7-year-old suspected Saluki x Whippet with the gentlest soul. When Blossom first arrived in our care, it was clear she had endured a very difficult life and was in desperate need of some much-needed TLC. She was underweight and covered in scars and sores, leading us to believe she may have spent much of her life living outdoors. Since coming to us, Blossom has received all the veterinary care, love, and attention she truly deserved, and she is making wonderful progress on her road to recovery.Despite everything she has been through, Blossom remains an incredibly affectionate and loving girl. She already knows “sit” and “paw,” and her favourite thing is curling up beside you for cuddles and companionship.Blossom walks absolutely beautifully on the lead and takes traffic, busy environments, and other distractions in her stride. She has a calm and gentle nature, and we believe she would thrive in a quiet, understanding home where she can continue to settle in at her own pace.Blossom could potentially live with another calm dog of a similar temperament following successful introductions. She may also be able to live with older, sensible children who can respect her need for a peaceful environment while she settles into her forever home. After all she has been through, Blossom deserves nothing more than a safe, loving home where she can finally enjoy the comfort and kindness she has always deserved.

He would likely need potential adopters to visit more than once as it takes him quite a while to warm up to new people. Once he got used to me, he became very cuddly and affectionate and will follow me everywhere if i let him. He is currently working on going for short walks on a harness, he is terrified of the leads around his neck and will panic and thrash about. But he is doing well on the harness and is growing in confidence. He will need alot of time, patience and understanding. He will now walk on a slip lead for me as he trusts me, be wont walk on a slip lead for anyone else, so a harness would be required.

Are you right for Dottie?Dottie is a very affectionate two-year-old Whippet cross looking for a calm, patient home where someone is around most of the time to help her settle into her new surroundings. She would love to be the only dog in the home, but could enjoy a few regular walking friends to build her confidence with. Dottie can live with sensible secondary school-aged children who understand dogs and can give her space when she needs it. She finds being left difficult and much prefers to be snuggled up as close to you as possible. Her ideal home would also have a secure garden where she can enjoy zoomies, relax in the sunshine, and potter about happily. Is Dottie right for you?Dottie may be young, but she’s already been through a lot of change in her life. Due to this she finds it very difficult to be on her own and settling in somewhere new takes longer than most. Despite this, she is the sweetest girl you could hope to meet and has so much love to give. In the home, Dottie is incredibly affectionate and will happily shower her people with cuddles and love. Out and about, she’s just as charming! Everyone she meets is greeted with the same joyful enthusiasm. Dottie’s favourite place to be is snuggled up close to her favourite humans, whether that’s curled beside you on the sofa or tucked up happily in bed. She is currently in a foster home where she's described as an absolute sweetheart. All Dottie needs now is a calm, understanding home where she can be given plenty of time to settle in at her own pace. In return, you’ll gain a loyal, loving best friend who will adore you completely.

Figgy is a petite little Italian greyhound/ whippety shaped crossbreed aged around three years old. Not yet been cat tested. Can live with or without other dogs. Respectful children 12 plus. Figgy and his family went to Roxanas shelter in Romania from the Ukraine after the war broke out. They grew up there and only now have the chance of a better future. Figgy is the sweetest little dog but he lacks confidence with new people and new situations. Once given time to get to know you he is a happy and affectionate little boy. He mixes great with other dogs but would be equally as happy as the only dog in the home. He could live with respectful children aged twelve plus.Figgy fostered North Walsham NorfolkAdoption Donation Fees are Puppies already neutered and all adult dogs: £430. Un-neutered puppies on spay/neuter contracts: £530 (You will receive a £100 rebate once you send us proof of neutering). Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a secure metal crate. Fences and gates must be 5foot minimum in height and secure.

Goose, a 2 years old male Whippet available for adoption from DAWGS in Scotland

DAWGS

Goose

Scotland
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedWhippet

Beautiful boy Goose is looking for his forever, loving home.Goose is a very loving, affectionate and gentle whippet. He is also quite timid, nervous and has separation anxiety so would thrive best in a quiet, predictable home where someone is around for most of the time at least until he is more confident. He loves cuddles, attention and to be with his humans as much as possible, most likely due to being through a lot of changes in his life. He can be very whiny and cry if he cannot follow you into a room. He is also not confident when being left alone, almost at all. He gets anxious and cries when he notices someone is getting ready to go outside or leaves, even if he is not being left alone. When he is left alone, he will cry/howl when he notices and it takes him a while to settle down.Other than that, he is relaxed at home after his walks, loves playing with his toys and usually sleeps on the sofa or in his crate (open). He is very cuddly in the evenings, sleeping on a cosy lap or on his electric blanket.Overnight, he sleeps happily in the living room with the door shut and is calm.Outside, he is calm and easy-going on his walks, not pulling on the lead and enjoys sniffing lots. He loves being off the lead in the garden to play with a ball or tug and will get zoomies but does not have reliable recall, so the use of a long lead is essential to be safe. A large enclosed garden for Goose would be ideal. On walks he is not reactive to other dogs, but can get excited sometimes when he sees some smaller dogs. He greets other calm dogs nicely. Notably, other reactive / excitable dogs tend to quickly turn aggressive around him and bully him, as he can be very anxious around them.He is a clever dog and responds well to training, having learned sit / lie down / stay, although he is not always food motivated, so high value treats are key.Due to his nervous demeanour we think an adult only home would be best suited.Ongoing training on his recall outside and crate training will be required as well as his separation anxiety but overall he is a wonderful dog that will reward your time and effort back with love and cuddles.Goose is a timid and nervous dog, he is not confident when left alone, and often cries/howls for some time before settling but if you feel you could offer Goose the stability and training he requires please contact the office directly on 01224 208989 or click on “Request to adopt Goose now”.

Hatchi is a lovely boy seeking a suitable forever home.Hatchi is a beautiful boy who has been through a few homes in his young life before we got him, so we would love to find him his forever home. His recent owner had to surrender him through no fault of Hatchi or the family, they had a change in family circumstances. Hatchi is a very sweet boy, he is good with people and loves attention, he can be shy with some people at first but he comes around very quickly. He would be best in a home with kids 12yrs and over.Hatchi is ok with other dogs, but he can be anxious which can cause him to be very vocal and scared of some dogs until he gets used to them. He much prefers dogs who arent in his face all the time. In our home he is currently sharing with two other dogs no problem. So could potentially live with another dog pending successful meet and greet.Hatchi is naturally a more nervous boy in general, so will need a patient loving home willing to give him time to settle in. He settled in to our home very quickly, but every home is different. He walks well on the lead, but again due to being nervous he would likely react if an offlead dog was to run up into his space. He just hasnt had alot of socialisation, so will take time to learn and grow in confidence. But we are seeing improvements every day. In the house he is very happy and well behaved, outside of the house he is very anxious and is working on this, but it is something that his new family will have to continue working on. (We can offcourse cover training support no problem, to help him become the best boy he can be.) A more rural and calm area would be best, he definately wouldnt suit a built up and busy living area.Hatchi has been quite settled in our home, not destructive or anything. He is also happy to sleep in a crate overnight if required. But he will need some house training initally, as he settles and adjusts to a new home and routine.

Are you right for Hen?Hen is looking for a home with her lovely man, Hank. They are house trained and can be left alone for an hour or two without worry. They're happy in their own company and don't really look to interact with other dogs. Hen and Hank can live with children of high school age. Hen has a heart murmur and requires daily heart medication. Is Hen right for you?Hen is the sweetest old lady, looking for a quiet retirement home with lifelong pal Hank. We don’t have much history for them, but they’ve been in foster for a little while now and have been wonderful house guests. Hen is quite reserved but does have a giddy side to her when she gets going and likes to play with toys. She’s always happy to have people say hello her and likes to be where her foster carers are, often snuggled up by them on the couch. Hen is 11 years old but still active and enjoys her walks, taking lots of time to sniff and take in the local smells. She is content in Hank’s company and will sometimes bark at other dogs, but she is easily distracted with some titbits. She’s less bothered about others as the walk goes on and she tires a little. When it comes to bedtime, Hen likes to take herself off with a cuddly toy or wrap herself in a blanket.
