About BARK

Babworth Animal Rescue Kennels (BARK) was founded in 2005 when Elaine and Darren Shaw transformed their private boarding kennels into a rescue after taking in dogs that would otherwise have been put to sleep. What began with helping local “poundies” has grown into a sanctuary for unwanted and abandoned dogs and cats, as well as animals rescued from severe neglect and abuse in parts of Europe such as Romania and Bulgaria. BARK operates a strict non-destruction policy, caring for animals for as long as it takes to find the right home, with around 50 kennels, four cattery pens, and a large secure exercise field that allows dogs to relax and interact naturally. Entirely self-funded through donations and adoption fees, every penny raised goes directly toward animal care, veterinary bills, and the running of the rescue. Supported by a dedicated local community, BARK continues to give hundreds of animals a safe place and a genuine second chance at life.

Adah, a 7 years old female Unknown available for adoption from BARK in Nottinghamshire

BARK

Adah

Nottinghamshire
SexFemale
Age7 years
BreedUnknown

Beautiful Adah has been back with us a few months after her second home fell through. Adah really does need a very special home but we are determined to find it! She is 7 years old, vacs and chipped and will be spayed. Adah is a really lovely girl with us and has a great relationship with everyone at the kennels but in a home she can be aggressive with strangers and needs to be either muzzled or shut away from any visitors. She also gets quite stressed when left during the day so needs someone who will be around most of the time. She loves to play and enjoys running around our secure field. She would love a good sized secure garden with 6ft plus fencing as she is very athletic and can scale a fence very easily. Adah needs to be the only pet and people who are willing to give her the time she needs to settle and bond. She hates being in her kennel so we really hope that special someone is out there for her and she can get her happy ending. If you are interested in meeting Adah please read through our adoption criteria in the link in the ADOPT section and message us with as much information as possible. We are currently running on appointments only.

Colin

Nottinghamshire
SexMale
Age9 years
BreedUnknown

Meet the handsome Colin. He is 9 years old, vacs, neutered and chipped and is looking for his forever home. Colin has been with us a few years now. He can be very shy of new people and will always have issues with strangers. He is a tricky dog who will need a very experienced home. Colin will need Adopters with time and patience and who are able to shut him away from visitors as needed. He came in with his brother Otto who has been adopted and is flourishing in his new home. Now we hope for just the same for Colin. He gets on well with female dogs out on our exercise field so could live with a spayed female after suitable introductions. All he needs is a chance with the right humans. He’s a fabulous chap underneath all that nonsense and will make a wonderful companion in the right home. We would prefer no children and no small furry pets for this boy. Please read through our adoption criteria in the Adopt section before contacting us. We are currently running on appointments only.

Otis, a 7 years old male Unknown available for adoption from BARK in Nottinghamshire

BARK

Otis

Nottinghamshire
SexMale
Age7 years
BreedUnknown

This cheeky smiler is Otis. He came in to the rescue as a puppy with his litter mates and is now 7 years old. Otis has had two homes so far and in both homes the same thing has happened; slowly over time Otis becomes dominant over his humans to the point they can’t control his behaviour any more. Unfortunately he senses weakness and without firm rules and boundaries he takes charge! We have no issues with him at the rescue. With us he is loving and behaves really well. But we don’t want his life to be a kennel and we are determined to find him a home where his humans understand that this lovely boy will take a mile if given an inch! He needs rules and routine and someone who ‘speaks dog’ so they will be able to see when he is testing boundaries. Otis will be a fantastic loyal companion to the right person. He needs an adult only home ideally as an only pet as he does the same thing with other dogs as he does with humans. If you are interested in meeting Otis please first read through our adoption criteria in the ADOPT section then drop us a private message to discuss. We are currently running on appointments only.
