Ava was brought into our care as a stray & therefore we have no information on her prior to arriving with us at Battersea. She has shown a worried side to her since arriving yet we have with time seen her form lovely bonds with her people and absolutely adores a quiet cuddle. While she can be a little unsure at first, Ava makes thoughtful choices and takes things at her own pace. Ava also enjoys peaceful walks, calm environments, and a good potter rather than busy adventures. Around other dogs, she has shown to be worried but signs of trying to play and has been blossoming with confidence and showing more eagerness to play therefore she would prefer calm companions to socialise with and be the only dog in the home at this time.Ava would thrive in a quiet home, away from the hustle and bustle, where she can truly relax. Due to her worried behaviours we feel a more mature household would be best to help continue her training. With patience and understanding, Ava will blossom into a wonderfully loyal companion. If you’re looking for a soft-hearted dog to share life’s quieter moments, Ava could be your perfect match. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Ava you can e-mail our rehoming team on rehoming@battersea.org.uk to register your interest. We ask every customer to first complete our online form we discuss an individual animal, so if you have not filled in our form yet you can find the details on how to do so here https://www.battersea.org.uk/rehome/dogs.Please be aware that we have a large amount of interest in rehoming our animals, so we are only able to contact those that are a match for the dog you have contacted us about.

Meet Bully! Our lovely American Bulldog.Bully arrived at Battersea as his previous owner could no longer care for him. He has a lovely history in his previous home sharing his space with children and a cat, however he did struggle to be left alone. Bully was said to be an all round loving lad who enjoyed a good fuss. Onsite we have seen a friendly and affectionate boy who has struggled to settle into kennel life often at the bars and vocal for attention. He has had some separation issues in his previous home so is looking for owners who can teach him to stand on his own 4 paws and that time on his own is not so scary. Bully likes other dogs and has some nice social skills in place being a friendly and at times playful lad. He has also shown some sexual behaviours so will need to be the only dog in the home with owners confident in socialising him in neutral spaces. Bully is looking for a home in any location and will need his own private garden for training. He can live with confident teens and could potentially live with a dog savvy cat! This lad is ready for a new chapter in life and a home to call his own. He has so much love to give and is sure to be the most wonderful of companions. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Bully, you can e-mail our rehoming team on rehoming@battersea.org.uk to register your interest. We ask every customer to first complete our online form before we discuss an individual dog, so if you have not filled in our form yet you can find the details on how to do so here: https://www.battersea.org.uk/rehome/dogsPlease be aware that we have a large amount of interest in rehoming our animals, so we are only able to contact those that are a match for the dog you have contacted us about

We feel she would be best suited to being the only dog in the home at this time, but she would love to have some doggy mates to go on walks with. She is looking for a home with access to her own private garden. Danny, a 6 years old male Greyhound available for adoption from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in Greater London

Danny

SexMale
Age6 years
BreedGreyhound

Lovely Danny is still waiting patiently for his new home – this charming chap has come on leaps and bounds since arriving here at Battersea Old Windsor and he’s ready to show off his affectionate and unique character in his new home. We know so much about Danny and his likes and dislikes. He’s spending some time in a foster home and, after some initial settling-in anxieties, now loves getting zoomies in the garden and one of his favourite places to walk is a quiet nature reserve, he even enjoys a little paddle in the stream. He has a playful side, especially with soft, fluffy toys and can get very excited. Occasionally he helps himself to one of his foster carer’s slippers and will parade around the garden with it. He also loves sunbathing and will happily find a sunbeam to snooze in. Danny finds aspects of the outside world quite frightening and will not be a dog to enjoy long hikes in unfamiliar places. However, he loves walks in quieter places that he knows and sometimes likes to just stop to watch the world go by and due to his this he needs a home that is not on or near busy roads. He can find some noises at home startling too – he won’t be helping with the vacuuming any time soon – but he will just take himself away if he needs to. He is affectionate and will come and slink past you, and maybe give a small bark, if he is after some attention. Danny is a dog who likes his own space when he is resting, so we would advise his new owners to have some clear areas, and his own beds, where he will not be disturbed. Danny prefers calm introductions with other dogs and quite often moves himself away. He would prefer to be the only dog in the home, but would enjoy some walking buddies. He is fond of car travel and will lay down and relax for the journey. His foster carers have worked hard to help Danny feel more independent at home, as he does form very strong relationships with his owners; this has paid off as he can now be left alone for short periods of time. He really benefits from having clear boundaries and structure to help him and his owners should understanding that he’ll feel a bit unsettled as he finds his feet in a new routine and home. He is a super dog looking for knowledgeable owners who can commit to him. You will be rewarded with plenty of love and some Greyhound leaning! If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Danny, you can e-mail our rehoming team on bow.rehomers@battersea.org.uk to register your interest. We ask every customer to first complete our online form before we discuss an individual animal, so if you have not filled in our form yet you can find the details on how to do so here https://www.battersea.org.uk/rehoming.

BreedGreyhound

Meet a greyhound with a party trick up her sleeve - she can sit!Dolly is a retired racing Greyhound. She is a gentle sweetheart, but can feel worried by new environments and changes. She has briefly spent time in a home but struggled with being left alone, so she will need patient owners who are around most of the time and can give her plenty of time, reassurance, and a gradual settling-in period. As she has little experience of it, the outside world can feel overwhelming for Dolly and she may put on the brakes when anxious, so calm, quiet walking routes and owners who are happy to go at her pace are essential.Dolly is spending some time in a foster home and has done so well, she has been house trained and is the perfect house guest, she has been very worried to leave the house but hopefully this will come with time, but there has been a huge jump in her confidence going in and out the garden and she has started to enjoy being outside and loves to sniff all the plants and flowers. She watches the birds from the backdoor and has been content with her own bed and not tried to get on the sofa. She is friendly with other dogs and gains confidence from walking alongside them, so she could live with a calm canine companion or enjoy regular doggy walking friends.Dolly will need a quiet home away from the city with a private garden, where she can feel safe, build confidence, and explore at her own speed. She can possibly live with children over the age of ten years, who understand her need for space and gentle handling. Dolly, with her sweet nature could be a nice friend for a quieter child. With understanding, consistency, and kindness, Dolly will blossom into a loving, loyal companion who forms a deep bond with her people.Dolly has spent a lot of time in offices and has been a very lovely office dog, she settles nicely on her bed and try's very hard to be clean. Say hello to our little Elton. This chap is looking for a loving home where he can rest his Frenchie paws! He has shown to be a little sensitive when meeting new people but has very quickly warmed up to his humans here at Battersea. He is a loving and affectionate lad who does have a cheeky side. He is known to zoom about and enjoy a little play. Elton is looking for new owners who have experience with his breed and who can guide him in a home and provide him with basic training. Elton sometimes forgets his manners with other dogs at times and can be a bit aroused when off-lead. However he has good response to his handler when prompting him away to have a break and for the most part is a friendly boy who likes to have polite greets. Elton also has a particular interest in feet and does think they are fun to play with. New owners will need to put some consistent training into his behaviour in this area but is picking this up well so far. He is looking to be the only dog in the home at this time and would thrive in a location away from the inner city. He would love to have access own his own garden & he may even be able to live with a dog savvy cat! Due to his overstimulated behaviour around feet we feel an adult only home would suit him best at this stage to ensure his training in this area is consistent. He will grow into a large, powerful dog, so he needs a home that truly understands the responsibility that comes with owning a giant breed. Meet Nook, our sweet little Dachshund!Nook came to Battersea as a stray so we sadly have no history for his first year of life. Since arriving he has shown to be the definition of a snuggle bug who loves his humans company and being as close to them as possible. When Nook arrived, it was clear he potentially had a cleft palate but this hasn't seemed to affect him much, he eats and drinks without issue and has since had surgery to correct this. Nook enjoys socialising with other dogs outside the home, being friendly and playful but also able to take breaks and do his own thing but he would prefer to be the only pet in the home. He is looking for a new home in any location and would love a couple or family with experienced teenagers who can all chip in with his care. He is a lovely boy who is full of beans and enjoys short walks where he can sniff about to his hearts desire. At times Nook has been worried and uncomfortable with the clinical aspects of handling and will need new owners to continue positive association to handling while in his forever home. In true Dachshund style, Nook does like the sound of his own voice & can be vocal on walks, so is looking for a new home in a quiet location away from the hustle & bustle so new owners can work on this behaviours away from too many distractions. Nook is now ready to take on the next chapter of his life and will be sure to be a very loving companion for the right owners.
