About Bulldog Rescue

Bulldog Rescue has operated in its current form since 2001 and is governed by a board of trustees, supported by a small staff team and around 150 volunteers nationwide. The charity specialises in rescuing and rehoming purebred Bulldogs across the UK, most of whom enter rescue due to changes in family circumstances rather than abuse. Homes are carefully selected based on suitability and location, with ongoing lifetime support provided to adopters. Funded solely through adoption fees, fundraising and donations, the organisation works collaboratively to ensure every Bulldog receives the care, stability and second chance they deserve.

DOGS: NOCATS: NOCHILDREN: 15+Beautiful and super fussy, loving Belinda came into rescue via the dog warden and council pound in Carlisle after being spotted as a stray for at least 7 days. She arrived with no name and 13kilos in weight after a week of feeding up in the pound! She had a c-section scar and stitches still present (later removed and found to be not done by a vet due to the type of suture material used). She has come on leaps and bounds after expert care in her foster home and is thoroughly unrecognisable now! She has had mammary tumours removed since being in care and has experienced some anxiety issues which can be controlled with Reconcile as and when needed. Despite the appalling treatment by previous "owners", she is the most loving and friendly girl to people. Belinda needs to be the only dog and can be very reactive to them inside and outside of the home. She needs a cat free home too and can live with older teens 15+ and to be rehomed in a similar place to where she is that is quiet, possibly semi rural and not in a dog heavy area. She is mostly house-trained with occasional accidents (again this has been patiently worked on in foster care and she may revert temporarily to her old ways, when she moves). Belinda can be left for up to 5 hours but prefers to be loose in the home and needs a breed experienced home. A super girl with just the worst start in life imaginable - please do not overlook this beautiful soul xx

DOGS: NOCATS: NOKIDS: 5+Gorgeous, playful, friendly, typically stubborn Betsy is looking for a forever home after the sad passing of one of her owners. She is now in foster care and is absolutely wonderful. She is great with all people, loves kids and can be placed with dog savvy children over 5. She lived with an 11 yr old girl with special needs who Betsy completely adored. Betsy can be left for up to 4 hours, loves the car and loves short walks. Betsy can be reactive towards dogs and cats so needs a pet free home. She is mostly housetrained/ clean during the day but uses puppy pads overnight. Betsy is reportedly fit and well and was described by our orginal visiting volunteer as a "confident, easy to handle, happy and beautifully trained girl who loves her own space". A super girl who has loads of love to give. Are you her forever family? No breed exp necessary provided daily care is maintained x

Blue, a 6 years old female Bulldog available for adoption from Bulldog Rescue in West Sussex

Blue

West Sussex

BreedBulldog

Dogs: OK Kids: 5+ Cats: RATHER NOT Gorgeous, chunky, fussy, cuddle monster Blue is looking for her forever family as her owner's work hours have increased following a relationship split. Blue is now on her own for far too long and her owner knows she needs more than she can give her. She has previously lived with other dogs and is fine meeting new dogs on the lead. Blue lives oppposite a park where many dogs walk and play, so a home with dogs would really suit her well. She sees her neighbours cats in her garden regularly but can run and bark at them and as she is untested in the home, we would prefer no cats please. She is used to children of all ages from birth, but can knock little ones over so we feel 5+ would be perfect for her. Blue is absolutely wonderful with all people and demands a fuss and a love from all! Blue has no experience of livestock and has had limited experience in the car. She can get stressed and anxious when travelling, we would recommend building this up slowly in her new home. Blue is mostly housetrained and can have accidents particularly at night (a couple of nights a week). Medically she is reportedly fit and well and is on no ongoing medication. She has a long history of repeated UTI's after her seasons until she contracted a pyometra and had an ovariospay. The UTI's have not reoccurred since her spay in June '23. Blue's breathing is loud when walked, but she must lose weight before being assessed for surgery. BDR will cover this surgery if and whe needed at one of our trusted vet practices. Blue is not used to going on the furniture and whilst she would most likely be delighted to do so, if your family also don't allow dogs on the sofas she would be perfectly compliant. A really super girl, described by her owner as boisterous, playful, happy, loving and curious. Breed experience is not required for Blue. Are you her very lucky forever family?Adoption Fee: £400.00 SHOW AN INTEREST IN THIS DOG

Dolly, a 5 years old female Bulldog available for adoption from Bulldog Rescue in West Sussex

Dolly

DOGS: NOT OK CATS: NOT OK KIDS: OK 8+ Beautiful, fussy, loving, nosey and energetic (when she's not snoozing!) Dolly is a delightful bundle of fun. She has unfortunately become extremely jealous of her mum who lives with her so they are now separated. The family are also expecting a baby in the summer and this will make things very difficult with the dogs fighting. Dolly can be reactive on the lead, barking at other dogs, so the family avoids this situation. She walks well and enjoys walking. Dolly needs a dog and cat free home (she lives with a cat ok but lunges and barks at cats she doesn't know so no cats please). Dolly lives with two children, one 10 year old and a 2 year old and she can jump up for a love in excitement, so would be best placed with 8+ Dolly really isn't a fan of the car and will shake and be sick. She can manage essential journeys with regular stops but a new family would need to have a vet and a park/ dog walks nearby. Desensitisation training could help her with this fear and she does take herbal calming tablets when she travels which also help. For rehoming purposes we would be ideally looking for a home within a one hour radius of her current home. Dolly is currently left for 2 hours a day and could tolerate 2-3 hours daily. She is not destructive and likes to suckle on her dog bed. Dolly does have issues with housetraining, she will mess at night. This may be compounded by living with her mum so we would hope that her living alone could help improve this behaviour, however, it may not do so. She very occasionally has accidents in the daytime but this is mostly an overnight issue for her. Dolly will mess in a crate so this doesn't work as a measure to contain it unfortunately. Dolly is reportedly fit and well and is not on any medication. Dolly's family would like her new home to be a Bulldog experienced one due to her reactivity and need for continued patient training. She is an exceptionally beautiful girl with lots of love to give, who really needs a home and family (and sofa!) all of her very own. Are you her forever family?

Ginger, a 7 years old female Bulldog available for adoption from Bulldog Rescue in West Sussex

Ginger

DOGS: OKCATS: NOT OK KIDS: 10+Beautiful, playful, loving, gentle and friendly Ginger is looking for her forever family. Her owner's health has deteriorated to the point where he feels he sadly can no longer give her what she needs. Ginger likes a cuddle but also enjoys her own space. She would really suit an older couple or a calm and quiet home with older children (visiting or resident) aged 10+ She has been around other dogs in the home and is fine meeting them on the lead. She far prefers the company of people over dogs, especially if there's something in it for her (ie a treat!) She is not currently being left but can tolerate 2 hours a day home alone and would just sleep if left with a chew or a toy. She can be ball obsessed which we have checked out on the home visit, our volunteers saw no issue at all around guarding. She is mostly housetrained but will likely need retraining as she currently has 24/7 access to the garden. She will need to settle slowly into a routine in a new home where access is not permanently available. Medically she has reportedly no known issues but she does require daily care on her ears and tail pocket, as many Bulldogs do. Her ears can become more of an issue for her in the summer. Ginger is fine in the car and could do long journeys having travelled abroad to Europe with her family a couple of years ago. No breed experience necessary for this thoroughly gorgeous girl who never barks and is described by her owner as "compliant and good as gold". Are you her exceptionally lucky forever family ?

Lady Gruffalo

DOGS: NOT OK CATS: NOT OK KIDS: 4+ Gorgeous Lady Gruffalo (aptly named because of her teeth!) is ready to meet her forever family. Lady G is a real fusspot who loves toys and can be playful but is generally a very chilled and friendly sugar plum. She came into foster care after her owner became homeless. She had been with his family for a few years after being rescued from a breeder/ hoarder. She has shown dog aggression whilst in foster care and has shown us confidently that she would definitely prefer to live alone! She is also best rehomed without cats as the kennel cat will testify! She is great with people, children over 4 and can be left home alone for 2-3 hours. Lady G can have the odd accident overnight and will need retraining after her kennel stay. She loves the car and has done long journeys with us, both to and from foster care and to vet appointments and surgeries much farther afield. Lady G has had two operations with us, one was a much needed dental and abscess removal and the other was BOAS (to help with her breathing) She has a small trachea so care in the warmer months will be required and weight gain needs to be avoided in order to help with emerging arthritis. A really gorgeous old lady who has stolen all of our hearts and who seeks the comfort and stability of a loving home. She was one of our Christmas sleepover babies and boy does this girl love a cuddle! Are you her super lucky forever family? She absolutely must be able to share your sofa (deal breaker!) and breed experience is preferred but not essential.

Roxy, a 6 years old female Bulldog available for adoption from Bulldog Rescue in West Sussex

DOGS: NOCATS: NOCHILDREN: 13+Roxy has sadly been returned to us after 3.5 years by her owner due to this lady living alone and suddenly becoming very ill. Roxy is now in foster care in Cumbria and thriving there, she has lost a bit of weight and is agile, healthy and active. Roxy needs a dog free home as she can be very reactive both on the lead and in the home. She is untested with cats in the home too so no cats please. She loves older children so 13+ would be ideal for her. Roxy is very friendly, gentle and calm around all people. She loves the car and has done long journeys both with her previous owner and in foster care. Roxy is mostly housetrained and can have accidents if left too long, however, she is fine to be left for up to 4 hours. Roxy was on loxicom 'as and when' for arthritis in her previous home. She is doing well in foster care with short walks and doesn't appear to need it as she is not limping. She may need to go back on this in the future. It would be probably best for her new home to not have lots of steps in and out of the home. Roxy has a tight tail that needs regular care to keep it clean. We would like her to be rehomed to a Bulldog experienced or just a dog experienced family due to her reactivity towards other dogs. Roxy can be wary of loud noises like garage doors opening etc. She is incredibly friendly, has absolutely buckets of love to give and really loves a cuddle! Are you her very lucky forever family? x

Willow, a 6 years old female Bulldog available for adoption from Bulldog Rescue in West Sussex

Willow

West Sussex
SexFemale
Age6 years
BreedBulldog

DOGS: NOT OK CATS: RATHER NOT KIDS: 6+ Beautiful, stubborn, funny Willow is looking for her forever home after falling out spectacularly with the other resident dog. She requires a dog free home and may also be reactive outside (owner keeps her away from other dogs on walks). She is untested with cats so no cats please. She is brilliant with kids and would suit dog savvy children over 6+ She gets excitable in the car and is only used to short journeys, she would be able to go on a longer journey for rehoming purposes and this could be worked on to improve her tolerance in a new home. Willow loves people and whilst she behaves equally well with both sexes, she listens more to men. Willow dislikes having her nails clipped, being groomed and having her daily care routine. She is not currently being left very long home alone but would be ok for 1-2 hours. She will have accidents if left but there is no other adverse behavior seen when left. She is mostly housetrained and uses puppy pads at night and when she is left during the day which is not often. Continued training once settled into a new routine will be recommended, but may not resolve this. She can be anxious and may need BOAS surgery in the future. She reportedly has no other health issues. Breed experience preferred but not essential for this really gorgeous girl who just adores cuddles, are you her forever family? xx
