Introducing our handsome gentleman Ace, who was brought into our care as a sign over after his owners could no longer care for him anymore. Ace is an 18 month old Staffy cross and is now looking for a home to call his own forever .Ace is such a wonderful boy, he absolutely loves long walks with our volunteers and takes in all the sniffs like it’s a full time job. Ace is a typical staffy and greets people in staffy style , so if your not in to body slams and big licks then Ace isn’t the one for you! His new owners will need to work on calm greetings. Other than his excitable greetings Ace is really a great dog all round . He absolutely loves to play fetch and enjoys a good game of tug too!Ace is great with other dogs And could potentially live with another resident canine . He has come from a house that had a 12 week old baby and he loved her, we would be happy for him to go to a home with children pending introductions, he could also potentially live with cats too. Ace is fully house trained. He is extremely stressed in kennels and we would like to get him into a new home asap. Surely someone is out there for this lovely boy!Handsome boy taking a breakAce sitting on the grass for a treatCardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Big Bruno

Wales

Age2 years
BreedMastiff

Bruno is a Mastiff cross, estimated to be around 12–14 months old, who came into our care after being abandoned as a fake stray.Sadly, Bruno has now spent several months growing up in kennels. When he first arrived, he was an extremely worried young dog who found the world around him overwhelming. Through patience, training, and positive experiences, he has made fantastic progress and continues to grow in confidence every day.Bruno is a big, powerful lad who is now stacked with muscle and has filled out into an impressive young dog. He has worked hard to learn how to walk on lead, but due to his size and strength he will need a confident, physically capable handler with large-breed experience who can continue his training and help him navigate the world.Bruno can be wary of strangers and needs time to build trust with new people. His “stranger danger” behaviours are something we continue to work on, and he is making steady progress. Any introductions to new people will need to be managed appropriately while his new family continues the socialisation and confidence-building work he has started with us.Once Bruno trusts you, he is an incredibly affectionate boy with so much love to give. He adores fuss, enjoys a good game of tug, and can often be found proudly carrying around his favourite stuffed toys.Bruno also struggles with resource guarding around his food bowl. He has been working closely with our behaviour team and is showing encouraging improvements. His future family will need to continue managing this appropriately and use positive reinforcement to help him feel safe and secure.Bruno is primarily looking for an adult-only home. He may be able to live with a calm, neutered female dog of similar size and stature, subject to multiple successful introductions at the centre. Any potential canine companion would need to be a good match for his play style and ongoing development.Bruno is a bright young lad who has already overcome so much. With patience, consistency and understanding, he has all the potential to become a loyal and rewarding companion. In the right home, this handsome giant is ready to continue blossoming.Cardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Branston Kev, a Unknown old male Unknown available for adoption from Cardiff Dogs Home in Wales

Branston Kev

Please say a gentle hello to our gorgeous meatball of a lad, Branston (formerly known as Kevin)Unfortunately Branston has brought back into our care and has spent some time settling back into kennel life and is now looking for a home to call his own forever. Branston is such a sweet and sensitive boy, he likes to go for long plods with the volunteers and takes his role as chief sniffing inspector very seriously . This lad would do anything and everything for a treat and is a wonderful poser for the camera! Kevin likes to ‘stop , drop and roll’ out on his walks and give a show to anyone walking by !Branston can be a little worried at times especially if you approach him too quickly. Motorbikes are his arch nemesis as they are big loud and scary and he can sometimes cower away or give off a bark to show his worry. Kevin is good with other dogs and is very chill around them most of the time , but he is a bull breed and typically plays like one too, we believe he would be best suited to a pet free home but with regular doggie pals outside of the home. He is fine being left alone for longer periods of time so wouldn’t mind living with people that aren’t around all the time. Branston travels fairly well in a car but doesn’t like bumpy or windy rides !Branston was unfortunately returned due to him displaying some behaviours which are believed to be due to a mix of OCD, stress and a bit of anxiety . The behaviours were being worked on and improving but ultimately the household environment wasn’t able to support what he needed. He was fixating on the doors in the household and would jump and grab at the handles and frame and would also jump and nip people that picked things up in the house. He has never marked skin. Branston is currently on anti anxiety medication to help him with his big feelings and we are continuing to monitor this. However this behaviour was never seen in the kennel previously and has not been seen in the kennels this time around either. This is not to say it won’t happen, we would like Branston to go to a bull breed experienced home who are well knowledgeable. He will be going on a foster period before the rehome is done . Branston is looking for a child free home but could potentially live with other dogs and cats depending introductions done at the centre .Cardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Bruce, a 3 years old male Unknown available for adoption from Cardiff Dogs Home in Wales

Bruce

Wales
SexMale
Age3 years
BreedUnknown

Bruce is approximately 3 years old and came into our care as a stray. Sadly, nobody came forward to claim him, but he is now more than ready to find his forever home.Bruce is a sweet, happy-go-lucky boy with a heart as big as his chunky frame. He was a little unsure when he first arrived and is finding kennel life quite stressful with so much going on around him, but once out and about his fun-loving personality shines through.Bruce is very much a typical bull breed lad — a bit of a bull in a china shop at times, often charging through life with enthusiasm rather than grace! With his stocky frame, big head, signature bully-breed chops and larger-than-life character, Bruce is impossible not to love. He is looking for a home that will appreciate him for exactly who he is.He absolutely loves getting out and about. Bruce is particularly fond of puddles and would happily spend his days exploring with his favourite people. In his mind he could walk for miles, but due to his breed and build he is best suited to shorter, more frequent walks with plenty of cuddle breaks along the way. Thankfully, Bruce is more than happy to stop and collect his cuddle tax before carrying on.Like many bully breeds, Bruce isn’t the biggest fan of hot weather. He may dream of epic adventures, but when the sun comes out, his inner diva makes an appearance! Warm days are best spent enjoying enrichment games in a cool home, lounging in shady spots, splashing in a paddling pool, and positioning himself directly in front of a fan so his handsome chops can catch the breeze. Once the temperature drops, he’s ready to get back to exploring. This affectionate boy adores people and will happily hand out slobbery kisses and lean in for fuss whenever the opportunity arises. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who enjoys company, cuddles and plenty of laughs, Bruce could be your perfect match.Bruce is looking for an adult-only home. He is a strong, substantial lad who doesn’t always realise quite how much dog he is! Like many bull breeds, he enjoys a rough-and-tumble play style and can become a little grabby when playing. Everything Bruce does is full of enthusiasm and affection, but his size, strength and excitement could easily overwhelm or accidentally knock over younger children. He is therefore looking for a home that understands and appreciates typical bully-breed antics.Bruce would benefit from continued dog socialisation and positive training to help him build confidence and become the very best version of himself.Bruce firmly believes that every human exists to provide head rubs and shoulder massages. A scratch behind the ears, a rub on his chunky shoulders, or a fuss over his handsome chops will earn you instant best-friend status. If there’s affection on offer, Bruce is always first in the queue! He is looking for a calm home without small furries, where he can finally leave kennel life behind and enjoy all the love, comfort and companionship he deserves.Could Bruce be the chunky, lovable sidekick you’ve been waiting for?Lapping up the attentionLapping up the attentionLapping up the attentionLapping up the attentionCardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Buddy

Age1 month
BreedCrossbreed

Buddy is approximately now 1 year old and has been with us at the centre for around 5 months. He is a young, fun, working type crossbreed, likely a Dutch Herder x Mastiff mix. Since arriving, he has grown in confidence and is now really starting to show his cheeky, affectionate personality.Buddy is a lively lad who is still working on his social skills and learning about the world around him. He can be worried by children, some new people, and unfamiliar situations, so he will need understanding and patient handling as he continues to build confidence. He absolutely loves getting out on his adventures. Buddy enjoys water, shade, and quiet wooded areas where he can enjoy stress free sniffs, bird watching, and his favourite squirrel patrol. Walks are all about exploration for him, and he takes his time soaking everything in.Buddy is very affectionate and loves nothing more than spending time with his humans. While he enjoys a good game of tug and garden play, what he values most is human company and interaction. He has been working closely with our behaviour team and is making steady progress with his canine social skills. His new family will need to continue with positive reward based training to help him continue to thrive and grow in confidence.Buddy is looking for a calm semi rural home environment where he can work on himself and gradually build his confidence. Over time, he can then be gently introduced to new experiences, people, and places outside his comfort zone at his own pace. Confident patient handlers are essential for this young exuberant boy to help him feel secure and supported. He also enjoys garden play and would benefit from secure enclosed outdoor spaces or fenced exercise areas where he can safely burn off energy and enjoy enrichment activities.Buddy has come such a long way during his time with us and is now ready to take the next step into a home of his own, where he can continue to flourish. If you are looking for a fun affectionate and characterful young dog with lots of potential, Buddy could be the perfect match. We would be happy to consider homes with resident neutered canines, multiple introductions at the centre on a weekly basis would be required.Cardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Coco, a 5 years old female Bulldog available for adoption from Cardiff Dogs Home in Wales

Coco

BreedBulldog

This potato is Coco, a 5 year old petite Bulldog who sadly arrived in our care as a stray. When she first arrived at the centre, Coco was so scared. She could barely see out of her eyes as they were crusted over with gunk that had been left uncleaned for a long time. She was severely under her needed weight, clearly having missed many much needed meals. Coco also had overgrown claws which caused her pain when she walked. Her face folds and ears were full of dirt, causing them to be red and very sore. She was very good at letting us gently clean her up to help her feel a little more comfortable. After her initial settling in period, Coco was whisked away to see the vet. Coco was prescribed eye medication to help treat her dry eye condition. This is likely to be lifelong, but it is affordable and she is very good at having her drops applied. She was also prescribed ear drops to treat her ear infection.Coco soon felt like a new woman. She was able to enjoy her walks and meet all the wonderful volunteers. Coco absolutely loves people of all ages and is not bothered by dogs of any size or shape. She has good lead manners and is more of a plodder than an athlete kind of girl. Her gentle nature and Bulldog zoomies sum up her two available speeds. She could potentially live with children of all ages due to her soft nature. We would also be happy to introduce resident felines who are dog savvy and canine companions who are not too over the top. Please remember that brachycephalic breeds require daily maintenance, so we encourage any potential adopters to research the breed thoroughly.Waiting for my treatsShowing off my long toungeCardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Crumpet, a Unknown old female Bulldog available for adoption from Cardiff Dogs Home in Wales

Crumpet

BreedBulldog

Our sweet Crumpet has found herself back in our care through no fault of her own. Sometimes things don’t go quite as planned, but we’re here to help her find her true forever home this time.Crumpet originally came to us as a stray, with sore, itchy skin and a lot of fear in her little heart. She was terrified of being touched and would scream if anyone tried — but with patience and kindness, she began to trust us and show her beautiful personality.During her time in rescue, the vets discovered a large bladder stone during her spay. This was removed successfully and made a huge difference to her comfort and confidence.Crumpet unfortunately returned to us with some lameness on her hind limbs. After veterinary investigation, it has been advised that she has some spinal pain which is the cause of her hopping. This is currently managed well with daily pain relief, her future adopters will need to be prepared to continue with her veterinary care. Before her first stay with us, Crumpet had a kennel buddy and showed good social skills with other dogs. Since returning, she’s been a little unsure around them and has lost some of that confidence — but she’s learning fast, and we’re hopeful she’ll continue to rebuild her doggy manners with the right support and patient owners. After everything she’s been through, Crumpet’s confidence is slowly blossoming once more. She’s taking life at her own pace and learning to enjoy all the little things — wiggly greetings, happy snorts, and gentle fusses from the people she trusts most. She makes us laugh every single day with her cheeky Frenchie personality and adorable expressions.Crumpet enjoys her daily walks with our volunteers and will make a brilliant walking buddy once fully back to strength. She would benefit from positive training classes to help rebuild her social skills and confidence, as she can still be wary of other dogs and will use her voice to ask for space.Crumpet is looking for a calm, understanding adult-only home where she can have the peace and quiet she needs to truly relax. Her new family should have experience with the French Bulldog breed and be happy to keep up with her ongoing care — including cleaning her face folds, supporting her joint health, and continuing to help her confidence grow.Crumpet would prefer to be the only dog in the home, but she could have dog friends for walks following successful introductions over a period of time and eventually have a canine friend to share her home with in future. She may also be able to live with a cat, depending on introductions.Crumpet has been on quite the rollercoaster, but her resilience and gentle spirit shine through. She’s ready for her next chapter — could you be the one to give this brave little lady the calm and loving home she truly deserves?Crumpet has been lucky enough to spend time in a lovely foster home with people who have worked with her behaviours and help her continue her learning journey. She is the perfect house guest and has settled in lovely.Crumpet waiting for a treatCrumpet standing on the grassA little update from her foster mum and dad-Firstly, Crumpet is a little angel. She is very well behaved, obedient, cuddly, funny and easy going.Crumpet has a routine which she is used to, but it doesn’t seem to phase her if it changes as she demonstrated on her week away to Scotland to stay with relatives ( an eight hour drive, which she took in her stride). She enjoys her walks, which are usually twice a day for around 30-40 minutes and sometimes a quick walk at lunchtime. She is always keen to go out. You only have to pick up her harness and she’s ready. Even though she is still doing her little skippy trot, it’s not all the time and sometimes hardly at all.Crumpet can be a little wobbly from time to time, especially if she has been snoozing for a while (which is one of her favourite pastimes). She hasn’t shown any signs of being uncomfortable and is happy to be picked up. She also hasn’t shown any signs of having a problem with her breathing. We have given her toys, but she hasn’t shown but interest in them. She tends to gag on them if they are fuzzy. She likes to do tricks (paw, spin, middle) and she likes to chase in the garden. There isn’t a stubborn bone in her body.Crumpet is very good around food and has a good appetite. She doesn’t beg at the dining table. She stays in her place (bed) and waits patiently as she knows she might get a yoghurt pot to clean. She doesn’t guard her food at all either.Crumpet is very good at going out for a ‘wee wee’, although sometimes in the evening, before bed when she is snuggled up she needs to be enticed with a treat. She sleeps through the night in her bed in the bedroom.I have left her for up to 3 hours for work and she has coped well as she has had a walk before I leave. When we are at home and have things to do she is happy to snooze on the sofa or in her bed.We are managing her interactions with other dogs

Introducing our gorgeous boy Dave , who has been with us for a while now. Unfortunately Dave arrived with us in a sad state, he had torn ligaments in his leg and was unable to walk properly . The team kicked into action and it was decided that he needed major surgery to fix this as a leg amputation will have put too much pressure on his other joints .Thanks to your fundraising Dave has been able to have his operation! When he arrived at the vets they also realised that he had an old fracture in the same leg that had healed itself. We are devastated that Dave had to go through this and be in pain but luckily he is in good hands and is now on his road to recovery.Dave is such a loving boy, he has proper puppy dog eyes and will stare into your sole until you give him some belly scratches. He absolutely loves his stuffed toys (especially his lion teddy) and will carry them around proudly! He can be a little nervous of quick movements initially but once he trusts you he settles down and enjoys a good fuss .At the moment we are looking for a pet free home for Dave whilst he recovers , having a major surgery is tough on a dog and Dave is feeling a little sore – so to avoid any conflicts and help Dave recover fully we are looking for this. This is not to say he cannot have a doggie sibling in the future or have friends over post recovery !Dave has a long journey a head of him, he will require a quiet adult only home with minimal disruption. He lacks confidence so a place to grow at his own pace with calm humans is something that is beneficial for him.Cardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Frenchie the lurcher has sadly been returned to us at the centre. Unfortunately, sometimes placements don’t work out. She was very loved and had a lovely time with her family, but it simply wasn’t meant to be.Frenchie is approximately 3 years old and is still a shy girl at heart. She may take a few minutes to warm up to new people, but once she feels safe, her playful and affectionate personality begins to shine through. She lacks confidence in the outside world and will need a calm, patient home that can help her build this slowly and at her own pace. When Frenchie first came into our care, she was kennelled alongside a spaniel and coped well with shared space. She has also spent time in a quiet foster home, where she proved herself to be the perfect house guest — settled, gentle, and respectful in a home environment. As a lurcher (sighthound), Frenchie naturally has a prey drive. Her new owners will need to understand her breed traits and help channel her instincts in positive ways, such as structured games or dog sports like agility or similar activities. This will allow her to use both her brain and her body — chasing her dreams around the course as she was born to do.Frenchie is an incredibly loyal and loving girl. Once bonded, she will happily follow you around the house to make sure she isn’t missing out on any daily activities — whether that’s working from home or keeping a close eye on the snack cupboard. She would love a secure garden where she can enjoy zoomies and then relax in the sun with her family. Frenchie would also greatly benefit from access to a large, secure enclosed dog field once or twice a week, giving her the chance to stretch her long legs, run off steam, and enjoy a proper sighthound sprint.Frenchie can be strong on the lead, but with consistent training classes and owners willing to learn alongside her, she will continue to improve and settle into her routines. All introductions will take place at the centre, and we would be happy to introduce her to any resident dogs, who could offer companionship and play once suitable matches are confirmed.Frenchie is a sensitive, loyal soul who just needs the right home to help her feel safe, confident, and truly settled.Rolling in to her new life with easeMaking eye contact to get belly rubsNot going anywhere, gona lay here all dayFinding the best sniffsIf you have a quiet home, a kind heart, and space on your sofa, Frenchie could be your perfect match.Local celebrity at the pub on my own chairChecking out the local wildlifeCardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Please welcome George to our hotelGeorge is a handsome 6-year-old Dogue de Bordeaux who has recently arrived into our care. Gorgeous George came to us following neglect from his previous owner, and he is now ready to look forward to a brighter future filled with love, care and a good, healthy diet.George is a real sweetheart who just needs a little extra love and patience to help him settle into his new life. Feeding time is managed carefully for George as he is currently on a gastrointestinal diet to help maintain a healthy weight and support his digestion. George needs time to digest his meals properly, so he is fed little and often using a raised feeder. This routine works well for him and allows him to live a happy, comfortable life.George absolutely adores his walks and enjoys getting out to explore. As you might expect with his size and breed, he can be strong on the lead, especially when he finds a good scent to follow. At the moment George is receiving medication for his feet and some sore patches on his skin, but he is healing well and we are hopeful this will only be short-term treatment. He is also having eye drops applied as he suffers from mild entropion, a condition where the eyelashes grow inwards and rub against the eye. He is coping well with his treatment and the drops are helping, but we will continue to seek veterinary advice and may consider a procedure in the future if needed to give him the best quality of life.Due to his previous life, George has missed out on learning some important social skills. He can sometimes pull on the lead and may benefit from a few sessions at dog training classes to help him build confidence and learn appropriate behaviours.George can be a slightly sensitive soul and will need time and patience to adjust to his new home, but he truly has a loving and gentle temperament. At this time, we feel George would be best suited to a home where he can enjoy a calm and relaxed environment after everything he has been through.Knowledge of the Dogue de Bordeaux breed is essential for his rehoming, as George will need committed owners who understand the breed and are willing to meet all of his needs.George is a big, slobbery boy who is very food-motivated and full of love. He deserves the very best life and a family who will give him all the care and affection he has always deserved.George could potentially live with a neutered female canine who is calm.He will require multiple introductions at the centre to help build bonds. With my bestie enjoying the sunCardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team
