Introducing pretty little Anaya ! This poor girl was dumped at the PDSA vets in her crate just after Christmas. Anaya was worried when she first arrived but has come on leaps and bounds since being here. She is a lovely girl that enjoys gentle affection from her humans and gentle walks. She is approximately 2 years old.Anaya is interested in anything and everything on her walks, she is a big sniffer and likes to spend her time sniffing out all the new smells around her! Anaya is working on passing traffic and can sometimes become overwhelmed by fast coming towards her, she is responding well to her training and is improving.back from her walk she is looking for ALL of the affection from her humans and likes to cuddle up for some fuss. She can be worried about quick movements so slow and steady is the best way to go with our little lady !Anaya is looking for a home that will give her time to settle in and decompress from kennel life. Once settled she would like her new owners to take her to training classes to help her build on her skills and even learn some new ones too!She could potentially live with children 16+, dogs and cats depending on intros done at the centre.A bully breed experienced home will appreciate her “bull in a china shop” play and her no “spacial awareness” cuddle tactics.Anayas showing off her bully smileCardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Arlo

BreedCrossbreed

Introducing our big-eared , handsome boy Arlo!Arlo was brought into our care from another rescue after being returned to them due to his puppy bull breed behaviour.Arlo is a cross breed, it’s most likely predominantly bull breeds in his mix . He is around 7 months old now ! Arlo is such a sweet boy , he loves a fuss off his humans and is always ready and raring to go for a new adventure every day . He is an excitable boy that needs an active home , preferably one that will harness his smart brain and high energy needs into training and something fun for him to keep his brain busy , such as agility or obedience . He would be perfect for an avid dog lover or a dog trainer as a sport dog, but would suit an active pet home that will fulfil him too.Arlo is great with other dogs and has had a few play sessions with them at his first rescue , he could potentially live with another neutered energetic dog of a similar size, in fact , he would love this so he can play play play!Arlo can struggle with managing his arousal levels, which is quite typical for his breed and age. More specifically, his over arousal can turn into heavy mouthing of his handler and ragging his lead. He is working hard on this with our behaviour team and will come home with a plan to continue on this. Arlo is doing very well and has not mouthed the staff or ragged his lead at all this week, so he is learning quickly! He’s only a baby that’s learning all about life and just needs a hand to help manage thisArlo is currently looking for an adult only home to give him all the attention , love and training as this is what he desires (he is a king after all.) he could potentially live with cats too, depending on intros done at the centre .Cardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Big Bruno

Wales

Age10 months
BreedMastiff

Introducing big and beautiful Bruno!Bruno is a 10 month old mastiff cross, who was brought into our care as a fake stray.Upon arrival Bruno was sadly very confused and frightened of his surroundings, at such a young age no dog should be that worried and it is clear he hasn’t had much socialisation or exposure to different people.Bruno is a very large boy at only ten months old and he will need a strong and confident large breed savvy handler whilst he works on his leash walking skills and general confidence. Since being in our care Bruno’s confidence has flourished, he has met many new people and is slowly getting more confident with first meets.Once Bruno has gained your trust , the love is never ending! He is a big softy that loves a fuss and will play until he can play no more- tug toys and stuffed teddies are his absolute favourite .Bruno unfortunately resource guards his food bowl, he is working hard on this with our behaviour team and is already showing great improvements. His new pawrents will have to manage this in the home whilst continuing the work with positive reinforcement to help him feel safer around this. His new house will need to be big enough to be able to manage this properly whilst it’s being worked on.Bruno is looking for an adult only, pet free home so that he can settle back into daily life out of kennels. He is only young and such a smart lad with so much potential, with the work put in he should flourish into a wonderful adult dog.Once Bruno has worked on himself he wiuld love to make some canine friends in future.Cardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Say hello to long legged bull lurcher boy, Bolt!Bolt was brought into our care as a stray so we don’t know much about his past. We believe he is around 10months- 1 year old.Bolt is your typical bull lurcher , full of beans! But the perfect gentleman that loves fuss off his humans too. He can be a little nervous of new things but recovers quickly and is gaining confidence day by day. He loves his super crazy lurcher zoomies and playing with his flirt pole too. He also thinks he’s a lap dog and will sit in your lap for cuddles. Bolt is such a smart boy and will take to positive reinforcement training very well, he’s a big foodie !! Bolt isn’t bothered by the rain and loves a soggy walk , however he’s not the biggest fan of puddles (who is?!)Bolt is sometimes reactive to other dogs; we believe this is fear reactivity and we have started to work on this with him, he’s been able to disengage and play some games whilst around dogs at the centre and it’s been going well! Now he has settled in, on walks our volunteers are able to walk past other dogs at a distance with no issue. With the right training & confidence boosting we believe bolt will flourish at continuing his training and hopefully he will learn that doggies aren’t scary and can have some friends in the future too.Bolt is currently looking for a pet free home , he could live with children 16+ depending on intros done at the centre .Cardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Crumpet, a Unknown old female Bulldog available for adoption from Cardiff Dogs Home in Wales

Crumpet

Wales
SexFemale
AgeUnknown
BreedBulldog

Our sweet Crumpet has found herself back in our care through no fault of her own. Sometimes things don’t go quite as planned, but we’re here to help her find her true forever home this time.Crumpet originally came to us as a stray, with sore, itchy skin and a lot of fear in her little heart. She was terrified of being touched and would scream if anyone tried — but with patience and kindness, she began to trust us and show her beautiful personality.During her time in rescue, the vets discovered a large bladder stone during her spay. This was removed successfully and made a huge difference to her comfort and confidence.Crumpet unfortunately returned to us with some lameness on her hind limbs. After veterinary investigation, it has been advised that she has some spinal pain which is the cause of her hopping. This is currently managed well with daily pain relief, her future adopters will need to be prepared to continue with her veterinary care. Before her first stay with us, Crumpet had a kennel buddy and showed good social skills with other dogs. Since returning, she’s been a little unsure around them and has lost some of that confidence — but she’s learning fast, and we’re hopeful she’ll continue to rebuild her doggy manners with the right support and patient owners. After everything she’s been through, Crumpet’s confidence is slowly blossoming once more. She’s taking life at her own pace and learning to enjoy all the little things — wiggly greetings, happy snorts, and gentle fusses from the people she trusts most. She makes us laugh every single day with her cheeky Frenchie personality and adorable expressions.Crumpet enjoys her daily walks with our volunteers and will make a brilliant walking buddy once fully back to strength. She would benefit from positive training classes to help rebuild her social skills and confidence, as she can still be wary of other dogs and will use her voice to ask for space.Crumpet is looking for a calm, understanding adult-only home where she can have the peace and quiet she needs to truly relax. Her new family should have experience with the French Bulldog breed and be happy to keep up with her ongoing care — including cleaning her face folds, supporting her joint health, and continuing to help her confidence grow.Crumpet would prefer to be the only dog in the home, but she could have dog friends for walks following successful introductions over a period of time and eventually have a canine friend to share her home with in future. She may also be able to live with a cat, depending on introductions.Crumpet has been on quite the rollercoaster, but her resilience and gentle spirit shine through. She’s ready for her next chapter — could you be the one to give this brave little lady the calm and loving home she truly deserves?Crumpet has been lucky enough to spend time in a lovely foster home with people who have worked with her behaviours and help her continue her learning journey. She is the perfect house guest and has settled in lovely.Crumpet waiting for a treatCrumpet standing on the grassA little update from her foster mum and dad-Firstly, Crumpet is a little angel. She is very well behaved, obedient, cuddly, funny and easy going.Crumpet has a routine which she is used to, but it doesn’t seem to phase her if it changes as she demonstrated on her week away to Scotland to stay with relatives ( an eight hour drive, which she took in her stride). She enjoys her walks, which are usually twice a day for around 30-40 minutes and sometimes a quick walk at lunchtime. She is always keen to go out. You only have to pick up her harness and she’s ready. Even though she is still doing her little skippy trot, it’s not all the time and sometimes hardly at all.Crumpet can be a little wobbly from time to time, especially if she has been snoozing for a while (which is one of her favourite pastimes). She hasn’t shown any signs of being uncomfortable and is happy to be picked up. She also hasn’t shown any signs of having a problem with her breathing. We have given her toys, but she hasn’t shown but interest in them. She tends to gag on them if they are fuzzy. She likes to do tricks (paw, spin, middle) and she likes to chase in the garden. There isn’t a stubborn bone in her body.Crumpet is very good around food and has a good appetite. She doesn’t beg at the dining table. She stays in her place (bed) and waits patiently as she knows she might get a yoghurt pot to clean. She doesn’t guard her food at all either.Crumpet is very good at going out for a ‘wee wee’, although sometimes in the evening, before bed when she is snuggled up she needs to be enticed with a treat. She sleeps through the night in her bed in the bedroom.I have left her for up to 3 hours for work and she has coped well as she has had a walk before I leave. When we are at home and have things to do she is happy to snooze on the sofa or in her bed.We are managing her interactions with other dogs

Daisy-bute is a young Frenchie/staffie mix.She arrived in our care as a stray. After doing some digging we have found out that she has unfortunately been passed through many homes. This means she has missed out on many of her important learning skills needed to be a member of society.Daisy-bute has come on in leaps and bounds, her confidence is growing daily and she is learning to make new friends. On frist meets daisy-bute can be vocal and unsure. She comes around with tasty treats and settles down. She is a whirlwind of joy, she loves being out exploring and finding the best sniffs.Daisy-bute needs stability and love. we are unsure why our boy Dart hasn’t had much luck in finding a home… So here’s a little updated bio for him –I can potentially live with dogsI can’t live with catsI need an adult only homeDart has now been with us for a year… He was returned to us after being with a family for 21 months after being born at our centre due to them having a child and him showing resource guarding behaviours. He has worked extremely hard on this with our behaviour team and has made huge improvements and continues to do so. He will need to attend training classes with his new family to help him transition into his home and build on his skills with them. When managed properly, you are likely to not see these behaviours .Dart is the most loving boy who is an absolute fan favourite with pretty much everyone he meets! Dart loves to make friends with new people and is always eager to go for a big walk with his pals. He socialises well with dogs and has been to many of our events and made lots of new friends during his stay with us- he has even been used as a ‘helper’ dog to boost some of our more nervous dogs confidences! He can sometimes react to dogs when on lead out of frustration and this is being worked on with him. He’s also an avid cafe visitor and likes to chill whilst you have a coffee!Dart is currently on foster and has shown to be a great companion in the home, he is very affectionate and likes to curl up on your lap or an armchair for some strokes. He has been left alone and has been great with this. He’d like a home with lurcher experienced adults only to help continue his training and settle back into home lifeWhilst being in our care, dart has unfortunately developed very mild hip dysplasia. This is currently managed well with anti inflammatory pain relief , however may need more hands on management in his later years .Cardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Introducing our gorgeous boy Dave , who has been with us for a while now. Unfortunately Dave arrived with us in a sad state, he had torn ligaments in his leg and was unable to walk properly . The team kicked into action and it was decided that he needed major surgery to fix this as a leg amputation will have put too much pressure on his other joints .Thanks to your fundraising Dave has been able to have his operation! When he arrived at the vets they also realised that he had an old fracture in the same leg that had healed itself. We are devastated that Dave had to go through this and be in pain but luckily he is in good hands and is now on his road to recovery.Dave is such a loving boy, he has proper puppy dog eyes and will stare into your sole until you give him some belly scratches. He absolutely loves his stuffed toys (especially his lion teddy) and will carry them around proudly! He can be a little nervous of quick movements initially but once he trusts you he settles down and enjoys a good fuss .At the moment we are looking for a pet free home for Dave whilst he recovers , having a major surgery is tough on a dog and Dave is feeling a little sore – so to avoid any conflicts and help Dave recover fully we are looking for this. This is not to say he cannot have a doggie sibling in the future or have friends over post recovery !Dave has a long journey a head of him, he will require a quiet adult only home with minimal disruption. He lacks confidence so a place to grow at his own pace with calm humans is something that is beneficial for him.Cardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Frenchie the lurcher has sadly been returned to us at the centre. Unfortunately, sometimes placements don’t work out. She was very loved and had a lovely time with her family, but it simply wasn’t meant to be.Frenchie is approximately 3 years old and is still a shy girl at heart. She may take a few minutes to warm up to new people, but once she feels safe, her playful and affectionate personality begins to shine through. She lacks confidence in the outside world and will need a calm, patient home that can help her build this slowly and at her own pace. When Frenchie first came into our care, she was kennelled alongside a spaniel and coped well with shared space. She has also spent time in a quiet foster home, where she proved herself to be the perfect house guest — settled, gentle, and respectful in a home environment. As a lurcher (sighthound), Frenchie naturally has a prey drive. Her new owners will need to understand her breed traits and help channel her instincts in positive ways, such as structured games or dog sports like agility or similar activities. This will allow her to use both her brain and her body — chasing her dreams around the course as she was born to do.Frenchie is an incredibly loyal and loving girl. Once bonded, she will happily follow you around the house to make sure she isn’t missing out on any daily activities — whether that’s working from home or keeping a close eye on the snack cupboard. She would love a secure garden where she can enjoy zoomies and then relax in the sun with her family. Frenchie would also greatly benefit from access to a large, secure enclosed dog field once or twice a week, giving her the chance to stretch her long legs, run off steam, and enjoy a proper sighthound sprint.Frenchie can be strong on the lead, but with consistent training classes and owners willing to learn alongside her, she will continue to improve and settle into her routines. All introductions will take place at the centre, and we would be happy to introduce her to any resident dogs, who could offer companionship and play once suitable matches are confirmed.Frenchie is a sensitive, loyal soul who just needs the right home to help her feel safe, confident, and truly settled.Rolling in to her new life with easeMaking eye contact to get belly rubsNot going anywhere, gona lay here all dayFinding the best sniffsIf you have a quiet home, a kind heart, and space on your sofa, Frenchie could be your perfect match.Local celebrity at the pub on my own chairChecking out the local wildlifeCardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team
