Big Bruno

Wales
SexMale
Age10 months
BreedMastiff

Introducing big and beautiful Bruno!Bruno is a 10 month old mastiff cross, who was brought into our care as a fake stray.Upon arrival Bruno was sadly very confused and frightened of his surroundings, at such a young age no dog should be that worried and it is clear he hasn’t had much socialisation or exposure to different people.Bruno is a very large boy at only ten months old and he will need a strong and confident large breed savvy handler whilst he works on his leash walking skills and general confidence. Since being in our care Bruno’s confidence has flourished, he has met many new people and is slowly getting more confident with first meets.Once Bruno has gained your trust , the love is never ending! He is a big softy that loves a fuss and will play until he can play no more- tug toys and stuffed teddies are his absolute favourite .Bruno unfortunately resource guards his food bowl, he is working hard on this with our behaviour team and is already showing great improvements. His new pawrents will have to manage this in the home whilst continuing the work with positive reinforcement to help him feel safer around this. His new house will need to be big enough to be able to manage this properly whilst it’s being worked on.Bruno is looking for an adult only, pet free home so that he can settle back into daily life out of kennels. He is only young and such a smart lad with so much potential, with the work put in he should flourish into a wonderful adult dog.Once Bruno has worked on himself he wiuld love to make some canine friends in future.Cardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.Ā© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

BreedStaffordshire Bull Terrier

Hi! I’m Bolt and I’ve been at the centre for around 4 months now and I’ve had absolutely no applications I’m not really sure why , I’m a lovely boy . So I thought I’d give you a little bit of info about me :I absolutely love long walksHumans are my favouriteI’m not bothered about squirrels , birds or any small furries out and aboutI know lots of things like : Sit, Paw, touch and some pattern gamesI’m VERY engaged with my handler on walksI have the worlds best wiggly buttI used to be super reactive to dogs but with the help of the behaviour team and my fave walker Polly I have come a really long way. I think I was just a bit scared of them and frustrated… I have now been on two walks with dogs and have had some off lead time in the garden too. I can still bark at them sometimes , especially if they bark at me first or stare but I’m a good boy and you can use my pattern games to easily stop me from barking. Once introduced slowly I get on with dogs quite well and drumroll please…. I CAN NOW LIVE WITH DOGS!!I’m such a lovely lad , I’m very affectionate and like to sit in your lap for cuddles . I absolutely love enrichment (especially a destruction box ) and would love to go to training classes as I love to learn new things! I could potentially live with children 14+ too , but I’d like a feline free home please!Hopefully this helps me find my homeCardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.Ā© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Introducing chunky boy Bruce! Bruce is approximately 3 years old. He came into our care as a stray and was never claimed—he’s now ready to find his forever home.Bruce is such a sweet, happy-go-lucky boy. He was a little worried when he first arrived, but his confidence has grown massively. He now loves greeting everyone he meets at the centre with a big slobbery kiss and lots of excited fuss!He adores walks with our volunteers and would happily walk all day, but due to his breed, he will do best with shorter, more frequent walks and plenty of brain games in a cool, secure garden.Bruce is a true cuddle enthusiast and will happily stop for fusses every ten minutes—so if you’re not a fan of snuggles, he might not be the one for you .He would benefit from continued dog socialisation and training classes to help him grow in confidence and become the best boy he can be.Bruce would thrive in a quiet, calm, relaxed, adult-only home with no small furries. He would make the perfect companion for someone looking for a cheerful, affectionate boy to join them on the sofa, explore the outdoors with, and share plenty of love.Lapping up the attentionLapping up the attentionLapping up the attentionLapping up the attentionCardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.Ā© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Crumpet, a Unknown old female Bulldog available for adoption from Cardiff Dogs Home in Wales

Crumpet

Wales
SexFemale
AgeUnknown
BreedBulldog

Our sweet Crumpet has found herself back in our care through no fault of her own. Sometimes things don’t go quite as planned, but we’re here to help her find her true forever home this time.Crumpet originally came to us as a stray, with sore, itchy skin and a lot of fear in her little heart. She was terrified of being touched and would scream if anyone tried — but with patience and kindness, she began to trust us and show her beautiful personality.During her time in rescue, the vets discovered a large bladder stone during her spay. This was removed successfully and made a huge difference to her comfort and confidence.Crumpet unfortunately returned to us with some lameness on her hind limbs. After veterinary investigation, it has been advised that she has some spinal pain which is the cause of her hopping. This is currently managed well with daily pain relief, her future adopters will need to be prepared to continue with her veterinary care. Before her first stay with us, Crumpet had a kennel buddy and showed good social skills with other dogs. Since returning, she’s been a little unsure around them and has lost some of that confidence — but she’s learning fast, and we’re hopeful she’ll continue to rebuild her doggy manners with the right support and patient owners. After everything she’s been through, Crumpet’s confidence is slowly blossoming once more. She’s taking life at her own pace and learning to enjoy all the little things — wiggly greetings, happy snorts, and gentle fusses from the people she trusts most. She makes us laugh every single day with her cheeky Frenchie personality and adorable expressions.Crumpet enjoys her daily walks with our volunteers and will make a brilliant walking buddy once fully back to strength. She would benefit from positive training classes to help rebuild her social skills and confidence, as she can still be wary of other dogs and will use her voice to ask for space.Crumpet is looking for a calm, understanding adult-only home where she can have the peace and quiet she needs to truly relax. Her new family should have experience with the French Bulldog breed and be happy to keep up with her ongoing care — including cleaning her face folds, supporting her joint health, and continuing to help her confidence grow.Crumpet would prefer to be the only dog in the home, but she could have dog friends for walks following successful introductions over a period of time and eventually have a canine friend to share her home with in future. She may also be able to live with a cat, depending on introductions.Crumpet has been on quite the rollercoaster, but her resilience and gentle spirit shine through. She’s ready for her next chapter — could you be the one to give this brave little lady the calm and loving home she truly deserves?Crumpet has been lucky enough to spend time in a lovely foster home with people who have worked with her behaviours and help her continue her learning journey. She is the perfect house guest and has settled in lovely.Crumpet waiting for a treatCrumpet standing on the grassA little update from her foster mum and dad-Firstly, Crumpet is a little angel. She is very well behaved, obedient, cuddly, funny and easy going.Crumpet has a routine which she is used to, but it doesn’t seem to phase her if it changes as she demonstrated on her week away to Scotland to stay with relatives ( an eight hour drive, which she took in her stride). She enjoys her walks, which are usually twice a day for around 30-40 minutes and sometimes a quick walk at lunchtime. She is always keen to go out. You only have to pick up her harness and she’s ready. Even though she is still doing her little skippy trot, it’s not all the time and sometimes hardly at all.Crumpet can be a little wobbly from time to time, especially if she has been snoozing for a while (which is one of her favourite pastimes). She hasn’t shown any signs of being uncomfortable and is happy to be picked up. She also hasn’t shown any signs of having a problem with her breathing. We have given her toys, but she hasn’t shown but interest in them. She tends to gag on them if they are fuzzy. She likes to do tricks (paw, spin, middle) and she likes to chase in the garden. There isn’t a stubborn bone in her body.Crumpet is very good around food and has a good appetite. She doesn’t beg at the dining table. She stays in her place (bed) and waits patiently as she knows she might get a yoghurt pot to clean. She doesn’t guard her food at all either.Crumpet is very good at going out for a ā€˜wee wee’, although sometimes in the evening, before bed when she is snuggled up she needs to be enticed with a treat. She sleeps through the night in her bed in the bedroom.I have left her for up to 3 hours for work and she has coped well as she has had a walk before I leave. When we are at home and have things to do she is happy to snooze on the sofa or in her bed.We are managing her interactions with other dogs

Introducing our gorgeous boy Dave , who has been with us for a while now. Unfortunately Dave arrived with us in a sad state, he had torn ligaments in his leg and was unable to walk properly . The team kicked into action and it was decided that he needed major surgery to fix this as a leg amputation will have put too much pressure on his other joints .Thanks to your fundraising Dave has been able to have his operation! When he arrived at the vets they also realised that he had an old fracture in the same leg that had healed itself. We are devastated that Dave had to go through this and be in pain but luckily he is in good hands and is now on his road to recovery.Dave is such a loving boy, he has proper puppy dog eyes and will stare into your sole until you give him some belly scratches. He absolutely loves his stuffed toys (especially his lion teddy) and will carry them around proudly! He can be a little nervous of quick movements initially but once he trusts you he settles down and enjoys a good fuss .At the moment we are looking for a pet free home for Dave whilst he recovers , having a major surgery is tough on a dog and Dave is feeling a little sore – so to avoid any conflicts and help Dave recover fully we are looking for this. This is not to say he cannot have a doggie sibling in the future or have friends over post recovery !Dave has a long journey a head of him, he will require a quiet adult only home with minimal disruption. He lacks confidence so a place to grow at his own pace with calm humans is something that is beneficial for him.Cardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.Ā© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Frank is a young French Bulldog cross Pocket Bully who is best described as a little chocolate pudding full of love.He arrived in our care as a stray and, sadly, was never claimed. Despite that, Frank has kept his happy spirit and loving nature.Frank enjoys life at a slower pace and would benefit from little and often exercise, as breeds like his can struggle with too much exertion. He loves a gentle stroll, a good roll around, and of course a treat or two along the way.He has a confident little strut that always makes people smile and seems happy passing other dogs, showing more curiosity than concern. Frank walks well on the lead, is not bothered by much, and enjoys nothing more than sitting in the shade having a good people watch.Frank would suit a household that understands typical bully breed mannerisms, including the occasional crazy zoomies and bursts of silliness that make him such a fun little character. He is a loving, funny boy who is ready to leave stray life behind and enjoy the comfort of a home filled with love, snacks, and cosy naps.Cardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.Ā© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Frenchie the lurcher has sadly been returned to us at the centre. Unfortunately, sometimes placements don’t work out. She was very loved and had a lovely time with her family, but it simply wasn’t meant to be.Frenchie is approximately 3 years old and is still a shy girl at heart. She may take a few minutes to warm up to new people, but once she feels safe, her playful and affectionate personality begins to shine through. She lacks confidence in the outside world and will need a calm, patient home that can help her build this slowly and at her own pace. When Frenchie first came into our care, she was kennelled alongside a spaniel and coped well with shared space. She has also spent time in a quiet foster home, where she proved herself to be the perfect house guest — settled, gentle, and respectful in a home environment. As a lurcher (sighthound), Frenchie naturally has a prey drive. Her new owners will need to understand her breed traits and help channel her instincts in positive ways, such as structured games or dog sports like agility or similar activities. This will allow her to use both her brain and her body — chasing her dreams around the course as she was born to do.Frenchie is an incredibly loyal and loving girl. Once bonded, she will happily follow you around the house to make sure she isn’t missing out on any daily activities — whether that’s working from home or keeping a close eye on the snack cupboard. She would love a secure garden where she can enjoy zoomies and then relax in the sun with her family. Frenchie would also greatly benefit from access to a large, secure enclosed dog field once or twice a week, giving her the chance to stretch her long legs, run off steam, and enjoy a proper sighthound sprint.Frenchie can be strong on the lead, but with consistent training classes and owners willing to learn alongside her, she will continue to improve and settle into her routines. All introductions will take place at the centre, and we would be happy to introduce her to any resident dogs, who could offer companionship and play once suitable matches are confirmed.Frenchie is a sensitive, loyal soul who just needs the right home to help her feel safe, confident, and truly settled.Rolling in to her new life with easeMaking eye contact to get belly rubsNot going anywhere, gona lay here all dayFinding the best sniffsIf you have a quiet home, a kind heart, and space on your sofa, Frenchie could be your perfect match.Local celebrity at the pub on my own chairChecking out the local wildlifeCardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.Ā© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Say hello to beautiful Garibaldi (Geri) the gorgeous cross breed , Geri is aproxinately 10months to a year old and is now ready to find her forever home!We believe she is potentially a collie/staff/gsd/lab mix. This is solely based on her characteristics and vocalisation.Geri came into our care as a stray and was sadly never claimed, we have no idea why as she is such a wonderful girl. She’s an avid walker and can go for miles with our volunteers, her favourite time is adventure time! Geri is a water baby and loves going for paddles in the water so her new carers will need to make sure she has some swimming time booked in to her calendar to keep her happy! She’s a smart girl who already knows sit, paw and spin, she would also love to join training classes to keep her brain busy and fulfilled, she would potentially love to join a class such as agility or scent work to help meet her busy brains needs.Geri is a vocal girl and likes to sing a song to everyone she sees! She’s dog friendly and could potentially live with resident neutered dogs or dog savvy cats depending on introductions. Geri-Baldie is extremely people friendly too!We feel that Geri would potentially struggle with being left alone so is looking for a home with people home most of the time to help her work on this. She could also potentially live with children who are used to large clumsy dogs. All this is depending on introductions done at the centre.Cardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.Ā© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

George

BreedDogue de Bordeaux

Please welcome George to our hotelGeorge is a handsome 6-year-old Dogue de Bordeaux who has recently arrived into our care. Gorgeous George came to us following neglect from his previous owner, and he is now ready to look forward to a brighter future filled with love, care and a good, healthy diet.George is a real sweetheart who just needs a little extra love and patience to help him settle into his new life. Feeding time is managed carefully for George as he is currently on a gastrointestinal diet to help maintain a healthy weight and support his digestion. George needs time to digest his meals properly, so he is fed little and often using a raised feeder. This routine works well for him and allows him to live a happy, comfortable life.George absolutely adores his walks and enjoys getting out to explore. As you might expect with his size and breed, he can be strong on the lead, especially when he finds a good scent to follow. At the moment George is receiving medication for his feet and some sore patches on his skin, but he is healing well and we are hopeful this will only be short-term treatment. He is also having eye drops applied as he suffers from mild entropion, a condition where the eyelashes grow inwards and rub against the eye. He is coping well with his treatment and the drops are helping, but we will continue to seek veterinary advice and may consider a procedure in the future if needed to give him the best quality of life.Due to his previous life, George has missed out on learning some important social skills. He can sometimes pull on the lead and may benefit from a few sessions at dog training classes to help him build confidence and learn appropriate behaviours.George can be a slightly sensitive soul and will need time and patience to adjust to his new home, but he truly has a loving and gentle temperament. At this time, we feel George would be best suited to a home where he can enjoy a calm and relaxed environment after everything he has been through.Knowledge of the Dogue de Bordeaux breed is essential for his rehoming, as George will need committed owners who understand the breed and are willing to meet all of his needs.George is a big, slobbery boy who is very food-motivated and full of love. He deserves the very best life and a family who will give him all the care and affection he has always deserved. With my bestie enjoying the sunCardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.Ā© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

BreedBulldog

Hank is a mature Bulldog x Staffy mix who is certainly no couch potato! This lad has the energy of a rechargeable battery—he just keeps going. He is completely ball mad and will happily play for hours, proudly carrying his football around wherever he goes.Hank came into our care when his previous owners were sadly no longer able to keep him. Despite this change, he absolutely loves life and is one of the happiest, most fun-loving boys you could meet.He can sometimes become a little overwhelmed with excitement and may go through a humping phase when situations feel too stimulating. This has been his way of coping, but since being neutered he is already making great progress in learning to move past this behaviour. On walks, Hank can be strong on the lead at first due to excitement, but he usually calms within a few minutes and walks beautifully once settled. The good news is he is very food motivated, which is helping with his training and focus. With continued guidance, he is already showing great potential. One of Hank’s favourite things is going out in the car. He loves exploring new places with his walkers—recent adventures have included sniffing out boats, checking out Pets at Home (toys, treats, and even some sneaky pick-a-mix!), and enjoying tasty chicken treats at Grangemoor. He’s fascinated by fish, meets new friends wherever he goes, and even tries his best ā€œbutt wigglesā€ to charm everyone he meets . After all this excitement, he loves a cuddle in the car before heading back home for lunch and a nap—best day ever!Hank also loves his garden, where he can potter around, chase his football, and enjoy a good play session before wandering and taking everything in.He is looking for a fun, active home with positive, committed owners who enjoy getting out and about. He will need continued training, structure, and enrichment to help him grow into the very best boy he can be—along with plenty of toys and, of course, footballs!Hank could potentially live with children aged 14+ who are dog-savvy and confident around bull breeds. He may also be able to live with a calm female dog following successful introductions, and potentially dog-savvy cats.Hank is a big personality who will bring laughter, energy, and adventure to the right homeCardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.Ā© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team
