About Dogs 4 Rescue

Dogs 4 Rescue is a pioneering UK dog rescue charity that has redefined traditional rehoming through its kennel-free, pack-based rehabilitation model. Inspired by rescue approaches seen abroad, the charity focuses on giving dogs companionship, freedom, and a sense of belonging in natural outdoor environments rather than traditional kennels. Dogs are rehabilitated in relaxed social groups, allowing adopters to meet them in a calm, positive setting and challenging misconceptions about rescue dogs, particularly street dogs and Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Over the past nine years, Dogs 4 Rescue has successfully rehomed more than 1,600 dogs across Greater Manchester and continues to expand its innovative approach with the development of a large sanctuary and rehabilitation retreat for harder-to-home dogs.

Beautiful Betty is one of our very special “handicans” looking for her forever home — and what a character she is. Betty has a disability affecting her back legs due to an unknown previous injury. While she doesn’t have direct movement in them, she does use them for leverage and balance, and she gets around far better than you might expect. We’ll be reviewing her condition further with our vet, but please don’t let her disability fool you — it certainly doesn’t hold her back!Betty is bright, happy, and full of life. She absolutely loves playing with other dogs, enjoys rolling around on her back, and has a wonderful way of making everyone around her laugh. She greets people with pure enthusiasm, cuddles, and tail wags — her sweet, affectionate temperament really is one of her most endearing qualities. She is used to living in a home environment, settles well indoors, and is toilet trained. Importantly, she does not require any assistance to go to the toilet. She cannot navigate stairs so will need to live on a ground floor property, ideally with access to a private garden. She has previously lived with cats but we will be carrying out further assessments at the rescue. Betty loves the company of other dogs however, she can display food-guarding behaviours around them, so she will need to be fed separately (she absolutely adores her food!)Due to some dragging of her back paws, Betty will need to wear protective boots when out and about to prevent sores. She will need an understanding and committed home that recognises her additional needs and is happy to support her with this small bit of extra management. Her exercise will need to be limited, though she has her own special wheels which she can use too.Betty is playful and can be a little mouthy in her excitement, but this is all part of her joyful, cheeky personality. She doesn’t see herself as different — and neither should you. She is simply a happy, loving dog who happens to move through the world in her own unique way.If you’re looking for an inspiring, affectionate, and truly special companion, Betty might just be your perfect match. Casper

BreedUnknown

Casper is a beautiful, loyal boy who previously lived in a family home for around 2.5 years. He forms very strong attachments to his people, showing just how deeply bonded and affectionate he can be with those he trusts. He is a very people-oriented dog who thrives on close companionship and can become unsettled when left alone or separated from his family. He will need a home that can support him with gradual routine-building and confidence around short periods of separation. In his previous home Casper has shown a strong interest in toys and food, which are very valuable resources for him. He can become protective over high-value items and will benefit from careful management and structure around this. He responds best when allowed space and time rather than confrontation, and we are continuing to assess and support him in this area.He can be sensitive to environmental triggers such as visitors, delivery drivers, and unexpected activity around the home. In these moments, he may become highly aroused and find it difficult to settle until the trigger has passed. Because of this, he will need a calm, predictable home environment and a family willing to help him feel secure and supported during these situations. In turn he will repay you with unwavering loyalty and affection.Out on walks, Casper enjoys exploring but can react strongly to cats so will need a cat-free home. He is otherwise manageable on lead with the right handling and guidance.Casper is great with other dogs and could live with a compatible, well-matched dog following careful introductions.Casper is a boy with a lot of love to give and forms very strong bonds with his people. He is best suited to an experienced, adult-only home that can provide structure, consistency, and ongoing support as he continues to settle and decompress. Other dogs: Yes. Cats: No. Children: No.

His injury has left him a little wobbly on his legs at times, but he gets around well and doesn’t let it stop him enjoying life to the fullest. Most importantly, his difficult past hasn’t changed the wonderful dog he is. Chip is still a cheeky, fun-loving youngster who adores playing with his toys and making the most of every day. He loves human company and will happily paw at your leg when he’d like some attention or a fuss. Affection is one of his favourite things, and he thrives on love and reassurance from his people. He would benefit from a home with someone around for most of the day.Given everything he has been through, it’s understandable that Chip can be a little nervous around strangers and may feel worried in new situations, particularly on walks. However, once he realises he is safe, his confidence quickly grows and his happy personality shines through.Chip is fantastic with other dogs. He is very submissive, friendly and enjoys canine company, making him a lovely companion for other dogs. Now he deserves a home where he can leave his past behind, be showered with love and attention, and enjoy the happy future he has worked so hard for. Clive

Age6 years
BreedUnknown

Clive is a very special boy who has been with us for quite some time, and while he will always hold a huge place in our hearts, we feel he is now ready to find the forever home he truly deserves. When Clive first arrived with us, he was severely disabled and living with no real quality of life. After careful consideration, the decision was made to amputate both of his rear legs – a decision that quite literally changed his world. From a sad, withdrawn boy, Clive blossomed into the happiest, giddiest, most playful dog you could hope to meet. Watching him discover joy again has been nothing short of incredible. Now? Clive lives for zoomies, racing around on soft grass, and being right in the middle of the action. He uses a drag bag to protect his bum and prevent sores or scuff marks, and he can also head out in a buggy for adventures further afield. He toilets independently and does not need expressing.Personality-wise, Clive is pure magic. He has a huge character and forms deep bonds with his people. Once you’re his friend, you are absolutely his favourite person – he is loyal, loving, affectionate, and thrives on attention and fuss. He loves being involved, loves feeling included, and truly just wants to be with his humans. He can also be very cheeky and knows his own mind! Clive loves other dogs and would benefit from living with canine companions, provided clear boundaries are in place. He will happily tell other dogs off if they try to steal his spotlight or attention. He has not yet been cat tested.Clive is strong-willed, determined, and incredibly food motivated. However, he does need sensible management around strangers. He can be unsure of people he doesn’t trust and may snap if he feels uncomfortable, particularly with visitors in the home. Because of this, adopters must be experienced, confident, and willing to advocate for him and manage introductions properly.Clive is crate trained and settles well, but he does not cope with being shut away or left alone for long periods – if isolated, he may chew. For this reason, he is best suited to a home where someone is around for most of the day and where he can truly be part of family life.Clive isn’t just a dog – he’s a survivor, a character, and a real gem. He will reward the right home with unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and a bond that is truly something special. If you’re looking for a dog who will steal your heart, make you laugh daily, and remind you just how resilient dogs can be, Clive might just be your boy. Duke is a nervous but charming boy who has made huge progress since arriving with us. He is now spending time in a foster home, where he is learning what it’s like to live in a home environment and continuing to build his confidence.Duke is shy and can take some time to build trust, but once he bonds with you, he is a loyal and loving companion. One of his favourite things is asking for a bum scratch, which always makes him wag with delight. He is not yet fully comfortable being handled and is still learning to walk confidently on the lead. Duke can be nervous in new situations and may panic, so he will need an experienced owner who can provide patience, consistency, and ongoing support.Duke loves the company of other dogs and would benefit from living with at least one confident canine companion. He also shows potential to live with cats.As he continues to settle, Duke does still have occasional toilet accidents. He would thrive in a home with a secure garden where he can safely explore and play.Duke could live with sensible, older children aged 16+, and would do best in a home that understands and supports a nervous dog.Duke is a lovely little character who has already come so far — with the right support, he has so much more to give. Goran, a 7 years old male Unknown available for adoption from Dogs 4 Rescue in Greater Manchester

Goran

Greater Manchester
SexMale
Age7 years
BreedUnknown

Gorgeous Goran is a very sweet boy who bonds deeply. It doesn’t take long to become friends with him, and once he knows you, you’ll have a loyal companion for life. He is incredibly affectionate, loves cuddles and belly rubs, and is full of love to share.Goran is a sensitive soul and can be a complex boy when it comes to other dogs and strangers. He can be reactive on the lead and needs a confident, experienced owner who can gently build his confidence. He would thrive in a quiet home with one or two adults, and either no visitors or a way to keep him separate when visitors come.Goran is comfortable being left alone for reasonable periods, is clean in the home, and knows to play only with his toys.Goran can be sensitive and reactive to certain noises and environmental stimuli, so he would be best suited to a quieter home environment where he is not regularly exposed to high levels of activity or foot traffic.Due to his reactivity towards unfamiliar people and the challenges presented by shared access areas, Goran is not considered suitable for most flat or apartment living situations, particularly those with communal entrances, corridors, stairwells, or frequent close contact with neighbours and visitors. An ideal home for Goran would be a house with a secure private garden, allowing him direct access to outdoor space without the need to navigate busy communal areas. The only exception may be a self-contained ground-floor property with its own private entrance and garden, where exposure to strangers and shared spaces can be kept to a minimum.Providing Goran with a calm, predictable environment will help him continue to build confidence and manage his reactions to external triggers more successfully.Although Goran has been assessed as cat-friendly and is capable of living alongside cats, he does prefer having his own space. At times, he may display some resource or space-guarding behaviours around preferred resting areas and may chase cats away if they enter those spaces. For this reason, clear boundaries and appropriate management will need to be established within the home to ensure all animals feel comfortable and secure. Providing separate resting areas, safe spaces for the cats, and supervising interactions during the settling-in period will help promote a harmonious environment.Goran would not be suitable to live with particularly nervous, timid, or flighty cats, as his behaviour could be unsettling for cats that lack confidence. He would be best matched with confident, dog-savvy cats that are comfortable sharing their home with a dog and are unlikely to be adversely affected by occasional boundary-setting behaviours. He cannot live with other dogs.Goran is extremely loyal once he bonds and will make a loving, devoted companion for the right home. Other dogs: No. Cats: Yes. Children: No.
