About Hope Rescue

Hope Rescue is a leading dog welfare charity based in Rhondda Cynon Taf, dedicated to saving the lives of stray, abandoned, and unwanted dogs across South Wales. Founded in 2005, the charity works in close partnership with six local authorities, committing to take in all stray dogs regardless of age, breed, or medical condition. Hope Rescue focuses on supporting the most vulnerable dogs, including those seized from low-welfare or illegal breeding situations, providing assessment, care, and rehabilitation before rehoming. Alongside rescue and rehoming, the charity also supports owners in crisis and actively campaigns for stronger animal welfare standards and responsible dog ownership.

Apollo

Wales
SexMale
Age1 year
BreedWeimaraner

He thrives in an active household where he has regular opportunities for both physical exercise and mental stimulation. Like many young gundogs, Apollo can become easily excited and sometimes struggles with frustration, so he will do best with owners who understand how to support dogs through adolescence and are confident — or willing to learn — about consistent training techniques.Apollo can be wary of other dogs and will need careful, patient guidance to build confidence in social situations. He will benefit from slow, positive introductions to new dogs rather than being overexposed or rushed into busy environments. Access to quiet walking areas such as fields or woodland, away from traffic and heavy activity, will help him feel calm and secure. While Apollo works on managing his social skills around other dogs, he is currently looking for a home as the only pet.He is looking for a home with children aged 14 and over who understand he may need time and space to settle. Apollo will also need support to develop confidence when left alone, so a household where someone can be present. With the right environment, consistent guidance, and patience, Apollo has the potential to grow into a loving, confident, and joyful companion who will bring energy and affection to his forever family.

These girls are full of energy and love to run. They’re fast, playful, and thrive on having space to stretch their legs, so they would benefit from a home where a secure dog field or similar safe area is available for energetic bursts and fun games. Their perfect family would enjoy keeping up with their lively spirits and joining in on lots of exercise and play. While Patty is the braver of the two, often leading the way in new situations, Dahlia gains confidence from her companion and blossoms when together. They’d do best in a calm household that can offer patient guidance while they continue building their confidence, particularly in new environments. They are looking for a home with children aged 10 and over who can respect their space, and they would prefer to be the only pets so all the attention and energy can be shared between them and their family. The girls may initially find being left alone challenging, so a home where leaving hours can be built up gradually - or with support from family or dog sitters - would be ideal. If you’re looking for a lively, loyal pair who will bring joy, fun, and plenty of fast-paced adventures into your life, Dahlia and Patty could be the perfect match!

Delilah

Wales
SexFemale
Age1 year
BreedLurcher

Delilah absolutely adores other dogs and can get very excited when meeting them. She would thrive in a home with another well-adjusted canine friend to play and learn from, although she could also live as the only dog provided she has regular opportunities to socialise and make doggy friends.Currently living in foster, Delilah has successfully shared her space with cats and chickens and has done brilliantly, meaning she could potentially live with similar animals again in the right home and careful management.Delilah has done great with her house training and can currently be left for up to three hours. As a young dog, she will need ongoing support to gradually build up longer periods alone, as she can sometimes entertain herself in creative ways! She will also need continued management and training around food, as she has been known to help herself to tempting items left on counters.Out on walks, Delilah loves exploring but can be strong on lead, and her recall is still a work in progress. She would benefit from attending reward-based training classes to continue building on the great foundations she already has and to help channel her energy positively.Delilah could live with children aged 14 years and over who are comfortable around lively, bouncy dogs and understand the importance of giving her space when needed. This fun-loving girl would suit an active family or individual who enjoys the outdoors and is looking for a four-legged companion to join them on their adventures. Dilly

Wales
SexFemale
Age1 year
BreedSoft Coated Wheaten Terrier

She’s affectionate and sweet with her people, enjoying close bonds and quality time. That said, Dilly can become quickly over-aroused and easily frustrated, especially around excitement, barriers. Because of this, she’ll need an adult only home, with patient and understanding adopters who can provide consistent structure, varied mental stimulation, and help her develop better emotional regulation skills.Dilly is learning lots of positive skills with her handlers, including a solid “drop” cue to help with previous toy guarding behaviours, and she’s doing well trading items for treats. She’s also being introduced to wearing a muzzle as a helpful training tool to safely build her confidence around other dogs. This isn’t a forever necessity, but part of giving her the right foundations and positive experiences. She’ll need continued, thoughtful exposure to appropriate dog interactions. Dilly is looking for a home as the only pet as she continues to grow her confidence with dogs. When playing, Dilly can be vocal, her excited noises can sometimes sound more dramatic than they are! She’s a high-energy girl who will benefit from regular outlets for her enthusiasm, secure off-lead opportunities where appropriate, and adopters who are committed to ongoing training. With empathy, curiosity, and a willingness to learn alongside her, Dilly has huge potential to blossom into an incredible little companion. If you’re looking for a clever, lively, small but mighty dog to invest your time and heart into, Dilly could be your perfect match.

Gazelle, a 8 years old female Collie available for adoption from Hope Rescue in Wales

Hope Rescue

Gazelle

Wales
SexFemale
Age8 years
BreedCollie

When Gazelle first arrived with us, she was a little under-confident. With patience, treats, and toys, she has really settled into herself and has shown she will make a wonderful companion in a family home. She has spent time with our dedicated foster carer and has proven herself to be house trained and a delightful house guest.Gazelle can still feel a little worried in some circumstances, so she would suit a home where any children are aged 10 and over. She loves her walks and would thrive with an active family who can keep her sharp mind engaged with new adventures and ongoing training.Gazelle recently had surgery on her leg and is recovering well. New adopters should be mindful that walks will need to be gradually built up in quiet locations as she continues to regain strength. We have introduced her to other dogs and found that if the other dog gives her space initially, she gains confidence and can happily walk alongside them. However, she can become worried around bouncy or vocal dogs, so she is currently looking for a pet-free home where she can continue to build her social skills safely. If you’re looking for a small, intelligent, and affectionate dog with a big personality, Gazelle could be the perfect companion for you!

Gordon, a 2 years old male Cane Corso available for adoption from Hope Rescue in Wales

Hope Rescue

Gordon

Wales
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedCane Corso

He originally came into us from the pound and has found kennel life a little worrying. We have found he can be easily spooked by loud noises and unfamiliar situations but with his handlers nearby to give him encouragement his affectionate and goofy personality begins to shine through. We have found food is definitely the way to his heart, and this is a great tool for his ongoing training needs. He’s currently learning to walk nicely on a head collar as he can be very strong on lead. We have introduced Gordon to other dogs and found he gets on well with them, he can find it hard to manage his excitement but could live with a well matched dog in his new home.As he’s likely never lived in a home before, Gordon isn’t yet house trained and will need patient, consistent routines to help him learn. He’s looking for an adult-only home with owners who are around during the day and have experience with large, sensitive breeds.A quiet, predictable environment will help him settle and flourish at his own pace. He will need a child free home and cannot live with cats. Gordon will make a super addition to a family who can give him the time and support he needs to build on his confidence.
