Lila
StaffordshireLila arrived in the UK at the end of April under foster-to-adopt… and for a moment, we truly thought she had found her forever home. Her foster family was thinking about adopting her, but after living with her, they realised they are unable to provide the long-term environment she needs to truly thrive.Importantly, they asked us to make clear:“This is very much a reflection on our limitations, not Lila’s needs.”They are continuing to care for her while she looks for the right home because she is genuinely a lovely dog. Meet LilaLila is an 18-month-old lower medium-sized girl, around knee height, with the temperament and intelligence very typical of a young Collie cross (her foster family suggested she might be a Collie cross, although we don’t really know). She is affectionate, sensitive and eager to connect with people. Highlights • SIZE: Lower-medium (46 cm/17 kilos)• SPAYED: Yes• CHARACTER: Gentle • Sensitive • Loving • Clever • Affectionate• DOGS: Friendly and enjoys other dogs, would benefit from calm canine companion• CATS: Not suitable to live with cats• CHILDREN: Calm, dog-savvy older children 10+ Rescue StoryLila with a few other dogs, was brought to safety from eastern Ukraine after war destroyed the home of the man caring for her. When he was later forced to leave, the dogs risked abandonment in a quarry by neighbours, who didn’t want them to live nearby. Thankfully, Lila was rescued before that happened. More About LilaLila LOVES people and showed it from the very first moment she arrived in the UK — immediately leaning in for cuddles and seeking closeness. Yes, some of this is submissive behaviour, but it also shows how much she wants to trust and connect.Underneath her gentle nature though, she lacks confidence and stability. She is still trying to understand the world around her and needs time to build a predictable, safe baseline before she can truly relax and blossom. Her foster says:“She is such a lovely dog but underneath her calmness she lacks confidence.”Lila walks beautifully on the lead and only really pulls when hurrying home to toilet in the garden, where she feels “safe,” or if she spots a squirrel or magpie. Outside, she is still anxious around sudden sounds, unfamiliar situations and some people. At home she is affectionate, calm and increasingly starting to show a cheeky, playful side. She is also using puppy pads well indoors, but would hugely benefit from a quiet secure garden where she could slowly gain confidence toileting outside.Because of the busy family setup, multiple baby gates, children’s routines and visitors, she is struggling with the amount of unpredictability around her. Her foster explained that many of the challenges are environmental and impossible for them to fully change.Lila has also shown discomfort around some visitors and less familiar people. After a visitor trial, her behaviour around certain family members became more unsettled. For this reason, we would recommend introducing visitors very slowly once she has had significant time to settle. With cats, she is not suitable to live alongside them. She is not aggressive, but her anxious barking and over-focus creates stress for everyone. Ideal HomeLila needs a calm, predictable home with minimal visitors (or proper work on introduction) and low daily stress.A rural or quieter semi-rural environment would suit her beautifully — somewhere without crowds, constant noise or too much coming and going.Another calm, confident dog would likely help her enormously, as she gains reassurance from canine companionship. Most importantly, she needs dog-savvy people who understand sensitive dogs and are willing to let her build confidence slowly, without pressure or rushing. Lila is not a difficult dog. She is a sensitive young dog who simply needs stability, calm and time to feel safe.Give her that… and you will watch a beautiful little soul slowly come to life. ️ Health InformationLila is healthy, spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. All dogs are C.Brucella tested before travel (licensed laboratory certificate provided).Name of pet you are interested inWebsite designed and provided by Go & Get Cyber Hype
