I’m Kanella, a 6‑year‑old Kokoni girl, and not so long ago… life was very different for me.Back in October, I was rescued with 26 other dogs from a place no animal should ever be. It was loud, scary, and full of fear. We were all misunderstood and mishandled… and I learned early on that humans could be something to survive, not something to trust.When I arrived, I was completely shut down. I didn’t know how to lift my head, how to wag my tail, or how to believe that hands could be kind. I froze whenever someone looked my way. I had learned to disappear.But then… little by little… something changed.People started speaking softly. Moving gently. Waiting patiently. They never rushed me. They never forced me. They let me decide when I was ready.And slowly, I began to peek out from inside my shell.Today, I can be gently stroked, and that is huge progress for a girl like me.
