Hello, my name is Kristia. I am one of the 27 dogs rescued from the hoarding case back in October. I wish I could tell you that I have had a big transformation. That I now run to people, take treats from their hands, walk proudly on a lead and enjoy being touched. But that would not be true. My progress has been very small. I am one of the really traumatised ones. Not the worst, maybe, but still one of the dogs who carries fear very deeply. For most of my life, humans were not safe. The world was not safe. Being noticed was not safe. So I learned to stay away. I still do. I do not take treats from people yet. I do not come forward for affection. I keep my distance and I watch everything from where I feel safest. The one thing I have learned is that the people here will not hurt me. I allow them to pick me up and carry me to the playground. I am not happy about it, and I am definitely not pretending I enjoy it, but I no longer react. I do not bite. I do not fight. I just let them help m...
