Alfie, a 10 months old male Golden Retriever X Poodle available for adoption from Dog Aid Scotland in Scotland

Dog Aid Scotland

Alfie

Scotland
SexMale
Age10 months
BreedGolden Retriever X Poodle

Young Alfie is looking for a new home where his training can be continued and he can have company most of the time. His new owner(s) must be used to large dogs. At 10 months, he may not look it but Alfie is still a puppy and he needs to learn some manners. His new home must have a garden.Alfie is a BFG who loves cuddles and affection. He would make a great family dog, but we recommend any children in the home are older, ideally teenagers, as Alfie is large and has no self-awareness.Alfie is very excited to greet people to the home but will settle next to them for attention after a few minutes. On walks, he is more excited to see other dogs than people and he just wants to say hello and play. But in his excitement, he can be rude to other dogs and needs to learn manners, especially with smaller dogs. Alfie tends to pull on the lead, which can be helped with training but he will need strong owners who are able to walk him with confidence. Alfie has only been let off the lead in a secure field and his recall has been hit or miss, so this is another thing to be worked on in his new home.Alfie can get bored and become destructive when left alone. He is used to having company and does not like being left alone. He will growl or bark at a noise outside the home but stop when it has passed. He is scared of loud noises such as a hairdryer or hoover. Alfie has been to the groomers and is fine with being washed and brushed.Alfie likes a good sniff and would enjoy going to scentwork classes. He can already do ‘sit’, ‘wait’ and ‘lie down’ on command and some further training and brain work will help him become more settled. Alfie travels very well in the car and loves going on good walks.Alfie is a big lovable boy who needs the right guidance and care for his age and breed. His new home needs to have the patience and willingness to train Alfie but he has so much potential; he will thrive in an active, loving home. Please apply for Alfie if you think your home is perfect for Alfie!

Are you right for Billy Ray Cyrus? Fun little guy Billy Ray Cyrus is a 1 year old Poodle cross with lots of character. He has a lot of confidence building to do, but is becoming more assured every day. He loves his toys and chases around after them, he will sometimes bring them back for another throw, but is happy to play alone, bouncing and pouncing on them and chucking them in the air. He takes time to warm up to new people, but once he has a bond with you he will approach for a quick chin tickle or may even hop up onto the sofa next to you for a snooze. This sweet pooch is looking for a special home who will take things at his pace - could this be you? Is Billy Ray Cyrus right for you? Billy Ray Cyrus is looking for a calm and predictable home with loving, patient and understanding adopters who can help him to settle in to a home environment after not having the best start in life. He could live with older secondary school children who can let him approach at his own pace, who will play with him nicely and will give him space to rest when needed. Billy would benefit from having polite and calm walking buddies who will help him to build confidence around socialising with other dogs, but needs to be the only pet in the home. Billy is currently learning to walk on a lead, he could be enticed to do training once he is settled in his new home and feels safe, he likes a tasty treat so this will help to get him to engage. He would like a home with a private garden to explore and potter off lead at his leisure. Billy can settle nicely alone so could be left for up to 4 hours, any leaving time would need to be built up slowly once he has had time to settle into his new home. Billy will need to meet his adopters multiple times prior to going home so please bear all of this in mind when applying.

Bob Marley, a 3 years old male Poodle available for adoption from Dogs Trust in Greater London

Bob Marley

Greater London

BreedPoodle

Are you right for Bob Marley? Meet Bob Marley, a 3-year-old Poodle cross who has had a difficult start to life. He will need patient and understanding adopters who can help introduce him to home life. Everything about the world is new to him, so he will need dedicated adopters to teach him everything from scratch and build on his confidence. Due to his worries, he needs to have a quieter home life with minimal visitors to start to help him settle. Bob is looking for a home away from any busy/main roads that produce a lot of noise and would love a home in a quieter residential area. He must have access to a private, secure garden that can provide him a safe space he can use to shake off and have extra space when he needs it. He needs to be the only dog in the home for now, as he has shown some worries about unfamiliar dogs here at the centre, but has the potential to live with one in the future. Due to Bob’s temperament and history, he could live with secondary aged children, who give him the space he needs. He would benefit from a safe space in the home that he can tuck himself away in when overwhelmed, if needed (a crate, quiet space, etc.) He is currently not walking on equipment, and he is looking for a home with adopters who can help him continue to build his confidence with an adopter and handling. Is Bob Marley right for you? Bob Marley is still learning about the world and what it has to offer. He likes to watch his humans from the safety of his kennel but is getting braver by the day - he has certainly found his voice! He enjoys playing with his siblings and absolutely loves his toys. Bob is slowly understanding that people can be kind and can be trusted. He will make a wonderful new addition to a family once he has settled in. If you could offer Bob a patient, understanding, slow-paced, calm home life, he could be your pawfect match!

Carry, a 5 years old female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel X Poodle available for adoption from Many Tears Animal Rescue in Wales

Many Tears Animal Rescue

Carry

Wales
SexFemale
Age5 years
BreedCavalier King Charles Spaniel X Poodle

Carry is a sweet and gentle girl who came to us from a breeder looking for a fresh start. When she first arrived, she was very scared and unsure of people, but she has already made some wonderful progress during her time with us and is becoming more confident every day.Carry is now a happy and lively little lady with a constantly wagging tail. She has discovered toys and is learning how to play with them, something she is thoroughly enjoying, and she has also revealed herself to be quite the foodie, which has been a great help in building her confidence.Although Carry is still nervous about direct handling and may move away if approached too quickly, she is incredibly curious and always likes to be close by, watching what is going on. She is happy to approach people for a sniff and will gently take treats from your hand, showing just how far she has come already. We feel it won't be long before she starts to feel comfortable accepting gentle fusses from those she trusts.Carry will be looking for a calm and quiet adult-only home where she can continue to build her confidence at her own pace. She relies heavily on other dogs for reassurance and will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home. A canine companion will help guide her through new experiences and provide comfort as she settles into family life.As Carry has never lived in a home before, her adopters will need to be understanding while she learns the basics, such as house training and walking on a lead. We have not yet started harness training with her, but as her confidence continues to grow, we feel she is becoming ready to begin exploring this next step. Her adopters should be prepared to continue this training gently and positively once she is home.Carry is the kind of dog who can brighten even the darkest of days. She is an absolute joy to spend time with and, in a loving home where she is given patience, understanding, and plenty of reassurance, we believe she will truly blossom into a happy and trusting companion. Our vets have noted that Carry has a Grade 3 patella luxation in her right hind leg. This is not causing her any issues at present and may improve with gentle exercise, but it will need to be monitored by her adopters and their veterinary team. Should treatment be required in the future, this condition would not be covered by insurance.Carry has a travel document.Carry has been given the Gift of Life by Wendy Bowen

Meet our little, sweet Chilly!Chilly arrived at Battersea from another rescue and with 7 other dogs and has likely not had the best start in life.He is a worried boy who is slowly learning that the world is not such a scary place, but he is stressed when outside and struggles to walk on lead, showing behaviours similar to a puppy farm dog who has had limited exposure to the wider world. New owners will need to be prepared for a long settling in period.Chilly will need a patient home in a quiet location where he can build confidence at his own pace.
