Hi, my name is Albert, and I’m looking for my forever home!I have lived with my family since I was just a baby, and I’m very lucky that they are continuing to care for me while I wait to find the perfect home. I’ve had lots of love throughout my life and now I’m ready to find a family who can help me enjoy the next chapter of my journey.I’m a friendly and affectionate boy weighing around 19kg, and I have so much love to give. I absolutely adore people and I’m happiest when I’m spending time with my humans. My favourite thing in the world is having my back scratched, and if you find the right spot, you’ll be rewarded with my famous full body wiggle!I’m a really adaptable lad and I take new experiences in my stride. I’ve been lucky enough to go on holidays with my family, visit new places, and meet lots of different people. When I came to the centre, I settled in brilliantly and showed everyone what a relaxed and friendly boy I can be.At home, I’m a very good boy. I’m house trained, crate trained, and I’m comfortable relaxing in my crate. I’m happy being separated with baby gates or closed doors, and I’m not destructive. I’m currently coping well with being left for longer periods due to my family’s work commitments, but I’d really love a home where I can spend more time being part of family life.I can be left for around 4 hours once I’m settled, and I could potentially be left for a full working day if I had support such as a dog walker or someone popping in for a midday break.I enjoy my walks and love having time to sniff and explore. I’m not a dog who needs endless miles, but I do enjoy getting out and about, taking my time, and finding a nice sunny spot in the garden for some sunbathing! I walk nicely on the lead and, although I might pull and be strong towards an interesting smell, I’m generally an easy-going walking companion.I’m a polite boy around other dogs and have shown that I can enjoy their company. I haven’t lived in a home with another dog before, so I’m looking for a home where I can be the only dog and have all the attention to myself. I would love to have doggy walking friends to enjoy adventures with, and I’m happy to share my walks with calm canine companions.I’ve grown up around children of all ages, I could live with children aged 8 years and over, as long as they are confident and don’t mind that I can jump up! My new family will need to help me learn calm greetings and understand that my enthusiasm.One thing my new family will need to understand is that sometimes I can have some very big feelings. When I get these, especially when meeting new people, receiving lots of attention, or being handled for a while, I can become a little overwhelmed. I might jump up or try to hump when I’m feeling this way, but I respond really well to calm guidance and reassurance.I’m a good traveller once I’m in the car and can happily travel for around 2 hours in my crate in the boot. I can sometimes be a little unsure about getting into the car and may need some encouragement, but once I’m loaded, I settle quietly.I may potentially be able to live with cats or other small animals, but as I haven’t lived with them before, this would need careful introductions. She is happy to meet old and new friends alike; new owners will need to be aware of this because she is a stocky dog who could knock people over by accident.Angel enjoys the simple pleasures in life but will need support with settling in to home life.After a good walk, she enjoys lounging on the sofa, having some fuss, or basking in the sun.Angel could live with older children, who are confident around larger dogs as she can be bouncy and a bit of a thug - typical of her breed! Angel enjoys saying hello to dogs here at the centre and will happily share walks with a new friend. I may have had a very tough start to my life, but I refuse to let my past define me! The wonderful team at Millbrook have been helping me learn how to trust again, and I have made massive strides. I am a brave, resilient boy who only has three legs, but that doesn't slow me down! I am just looking for a special family to help me write my next, best chapter.Once I know you and trust you, I am an absolute lovebug! My love is full-on—I’m talking enthusiastic greetings, big energy, and total devotion. Because I can be a bit bouncy when I'm expressing my affection, I need a home with older, dog-savvy teenage children who can handle my joyful outbursts.I can still be a little wary of new people when we are out and about around the centre. Because of this, I am looking for patient adopters who have experience with nervous dogs and are excited to continue working on my confidence and training. Trust me, the reward of winning my heart is entirely worth it!The Only Pet: I am a social guy and enjoy meeting other dogs out on walks, but my play style is very "full-on." I would be happiest as the only pet in the home, but I'd love a solid circle of walking doggy friends!Exercise Needs: Having three legs means I need to manage my fitness carefully. I will need a family who can help me build up to more frequent exercise gradually, making sure I don't push myself too far. My name is Bandit and I am 7 year old Boxer x Bullmastiff. I found myself on death row in a pound due to being an unclaimed stray.. most likely dumped by my previous owner.I do have elbow dysplasia which is controlled well with medication.I am a big strong boy who thinks he can sit on your lap like a chihuahua! I love a bum scratch and am always perfect patient at the vets.I love to be loved and have lots of love to give my new family!!I have no experience with children and am looking for an adult only home without visiting children.I cannot live with cats or small furries!I get on well with some dogs but not all, and so will need a home as the only dog.I walk well on the lead during my walks but am very strong initially or when excited so will need a fit and strong person to walk me. I can't do marathons but a couple of ½ hour walks a day would suit me well.I am looking for a quiet home with calm adults who enjoy a brindle snuggle buddy!

Barbara is a 4 year old Chongquing Chinese Bulldog available for adoption through Pawprints Dog Rescue in the Midlands. She is looking for a loving home in the Midlands or further afield and would like a quieter household but would enjoy doggy companions on walks. Barbara, who recently had a great time at our annual dog show, she placed 4th in “a face only a mother could love”… but is now waiting for that mum, and or, dad to show her rosette off too. Barbara is a 4 year old Chinese Bulldog with a huge personality just waiting to show it off to a forever family. While she can be a little nervous when first meeting new people, anyone willing to give her the time and patience she needs will soon see what a truly special girl she is. Once Barbara forms a bond, her wonderful character shines through, she’s funny, sweet, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining. As we don’t know anything about Barbara’s life before coming into our care, we’re unsure whether she has lived in a home environment before. However, she absolutely loves spending time with us in the office, where she happily settles herself on a cosy bed or curls up on the sofa. She may need a little refresher with house training, so a home with a secure garden would be ideal. This would give her a safe space to continue building her confidence and help her gradually adjust to her new routine before venturing further afield. Barbara has had some worries around handling in the past, but thanks to training, understanding, and medication to help manage her arthritis, she has come on leaps and bounds. These days she really enjoys a fuss and is happy to be stroked all over by the people she trusts. Her medication will need to be long term, if interested in Barbara we will discuss her medical in more detail with you. She enjoys walking alongside other dogs and is happy to socialise out and about, but at the moment Barbara would prefer to be the only dog in her new home so she can enjoy all the attention for herself. Barbara is also a fantastic traveller and loves car journeys, especially when she can look out of the window and watch the world pass by on the way to her next adventure. Barbara is looking for a calm, adult-only home with patient adopters who will give her the time she needs to settle in. Her adopters may also need to visit the rescue several times before taking her home. In return, you’ll gain a loyal companion with a loving nature, and a personality that’s impossible not to fall in love with!!

They would benefit from being the only dogs in the home but could have social doggy friends to spend time or go on walks with. They would like a home without cats due to their desires to chase.They are looking for a quieter home with plenty of space for them to play, explore and rest. Barnaby can be sensitive to loud noises and unpredictable sounds. He will need a calm steady home environment. Forest Dog Rescue

Our gorgeous Barney is on the lookout for the loving forever home he's always deserved. We know Barney has had a very difficult start in life, he then found himself in another rescue where, despite waiting patiently, he just wasn't having any luck finding a family so we were asked if we could help - how could we say no!?On first meeting Barney can be a little shy and unsure but it doesn't take too long until his wiggly tail & whole body start wagging! He is the sweetest, most affectionate boy who absolutely adores fuss, cuddles and being close to his people. More than anything, Barney simply wants to be loved.He's walking really well on the lead and has recently been introduced to a Gencon, which he's taken to really well though he will benefit from a little continued work in his new home, but he's already making fantastic progress.Once Barney gets into the playpen, his playful side really comes out! He absolutely loves a good zoom around, although watching him can be like watching Bambi on ice, with legs flying everywhere and not always knowing where they're supposed to go! He really is a puppy in an adult dog's body, and it's impossible not to smile watching him. He's also discovering the joy of toys, he loves a game of tuggy and when you go into his kennel and he proudly picks up a toy to bring over to you - SO cute!Barney is still working on his manners though he does know 'sit' & 'paw'! At the moment everything is so exciting that he can't help but jump up to ask for a cuddle. With some training he'll soon learn that all four paws on the floor still earn him plenty of fuss.He's great with other dogs and has become best friends with our lovely Reggie, he could potentially live with another dog provided temperaments suit but he would be entirely happy as an only dog with all the TLC, attention and treats all for him!Barney truly is a special boy. After everything he's been through, he deserves a life filled with love and happiness. He's missed out on so much, and we'd love nothing more than to see him finally experience all the wonderful things every dog should have—a family to call his own, sofa snuggles, adventures and to be loved.

BEAU About 4 years old, Beau the Bulldog is a real bundle of joy and loves her cuddles. She plays happily with other dogs at the Rescue but is bossy so we think she'd be better living as an only dog. No cats or young children - for some reason, she took against the young child in her previous home and so was returned to us. Bulldog Rescue

DOGS: NOCATS: NOCHILDREN: 15+Beautiful and super fussy, loving Belinda came into rescue via the dog warden and council pound in Carlisle after being spotted as a stray for at least 7 days. She arrived with no name and 13kilos in weight after a week of feeding up in the pound! She had a c-section scar and stitches still present (later removed and found to be not done by a vet due to the type of suture material used). She has come on leaps and bounds after expert care in her foster home and is thoroughly unrecognisable now! She has had mammary tumours removed since being in care and has experienced some anxiety issues which can be controlled with Reconcile as and when needed. Despite the appalling treatment by previous "owners", she is the most loving and friendly girl to people. Belinda needs to be the only dog and can be very reactive to them inside and outside of the home. She needs a cat free home too and can live with older teens 15+ and to be rehomed in a similar place to where she is that is quiet, possibly semi rural and not in a dog heavy area. She is mostly house-trained with occasional accidents (again this has been patiently worked on in foster care and she may revert temporarily to her old ways, when she moves). Belinda can be left for up to 5 hours but prefers to be loose in the home and needs a breed experienced home. A super girl with just the worst start in life imaginable - please do not overlook this beautiful soul xx

Homeless Hounds

Benny is new to Homeless Hounds and is under assessment. You can still apply for Benny but be aware at this stage we don’t know what type of home he will require.Benny is a young Frenchie who came in to us from the pound as an unclaimed stray.Benny is a lovely boy and enjoys nothing better than to sit with his human and have lots of cuddles. He has some very endearing ways and is very sweet natured and very laid back if he has company. He does suffer from some separation anxiety and needs a patient owner who is around for most of the day who will help him overcome his anxiety about being left on his own.Benny likes sleeping with and resting his head his human before going to sleep. At present he finds it difficult to settle and sleep on his own. Benny loves his walks and gets very excited. However, he does know basic commands and will stop and wait at the curb side if asked to do so. He is vocal when he sees other dogs but his response to seeing other dogs seems to stem from excitement as opposed to aggression but we will be further testing this. For the time being we would be rehoming Benny as an only dog.Benny loves ball games and is happy to have a good play in the garden – although he isn’t great at retrieving and returning the ball as yet. Benny may need a little help with his toilet training until he settles in.

DOGS: OK CATS: OK (dog savvy)KIDS: 8+Gorgeous, handsome, boisterous and playful, Bertie is looking for a new home after a family split and move. He is a super looking boy who loves life! His family feel he deserves to settle into an ideally breed experienced new family, who can give him the time he needs and deserves. Bertie is used to other dogs and as he loves to play thinks they're great! He can be too much for smaller or more delicate breeds and would really thrive in the company of other Bulldogs. Being placed with dogs who match his age, energy levels and size would suit him well. He is great with people and loves fuss and attention, he has a tendency to jump up to say hello which may require further training. Bertie is very energetic and takes a while to calm down but is super loving and friendly. Bertie can get excited when playing with toys and can mouthe a little, he had been playing tug with his owner which we have suggested is stopped moving forward, in order to avoid overly boisterous play.Bertie doesn't live with children currently but was living with children of around 8+ in his previous home. He could knock little ones over inadvertently. Bertie lives with a confident cat, again he is a boisterous dog and can chase sometimes, but he could be placed with a similar dog-savvy cat in his new home (or one that lives outside or upstairs).Bertie is fabulously clean in his home and can be left for 4-5 hours a day, displaying no destructive behaviour. Bertie doesn't generally bark other than to tell you something, like a cushion or a box, has been moved, or someone is at the door.Bertie also loves the car and can do long journeys of up to 4 hours. Bertie has seen horses on the lead and can bark if they get too close. He can be generally wary of new things until comfortable with them. This super looking boy is reportedly healthy but his tail pocket does require daily cleaning and attention in order to avoid it becoming sticky. Should he require tail amputation in the future, BDR will cove the cost of this at one of our vets. Bertie is described by his owner as: loving, playful, friendly, easygoing, goofy. Are you his forever family? Breed experience preferred but not essential.
