At 6 years old, Mara was rescued from the notorious “house of horror”, where around 300 dogs were living in truly appalling, squalid and inhumane conditions. Given what she has endured, we honestly cannot understand how she has come through it all as the wonderfully balanced, gentle and loving girl she is today. Mara is a gentle, calm soul Our team met her in August 2026, and they said: Meet Mara! What can we say about Mara? Sometimes a dog comes along who is simply everything you could hope for – and Mara is one of those dogs. Mara is, quite simply, exceptional. She lives happily alongside lots of other dogs and is absolutely wonderful with every one of them. During the week we spent with her, she was often happiest lying peacefully in the shade, watching the world go by. But she certainly isn’t an old lady!
