Hi, I’m Paris — and I’m finally discovering life at 10 years old. I was one of 27 dogs rescued from a terrible hoarding situation back in October. For years, the only way humans handled us was with catching poles — lifted into the air, choked around the neck, dragged from place to place. Because of that, I learned to fear human touch, especially anything near my neck. But everything is changing now. A few days ago, I had a moment no one will ever forget: I went on my very first walk on a lead. Outside. In the fresh air. In the real world. At first I took tiny steps… and then I realised I liked it. I sniffed the grass. I smelled flowers for the very first time. I felt a bit of freedom — something I had never known. For me, that short walk was a huge milestone. A door opening into a life I never imagined I could have. I’m still a gentle, cautious boy who needs time and patience. But I am trying. Every day.
