Oxfordshire’s mix of historic towns, villages and countryside makes it well suited to a wide range of rescue dogs. Dogs adopted in the county are often matched with homes that can offer stability, routine and access to outdoor exercise. Many rescues covering Oxfordshire work with foster carers to assess how dogs cope with everyday home life before adoption. This careful approach helps ensure dogs are placed into environments where they can settle confidently and long term.

I'm Larry I'm a 3-year-old Great Dane from Burford rehoming centre and I'm looking for my forever homeI'm a 3-year-old Great Dane from Burford rehoming centre and I'm looking for my forever home. Please read my profile below to find out more.Meet Larry a very special chap who is need of a special new home.In finding Larry's new home we are looking for new owners who have had Great Danes before that understand the breed's needs and traits. He is an affectionate and gentle chap once he knows you but can find meeting new people worrying so would benefit from a quiet home. He forms strong bonds with his humans and typifies the classic Great Dane personality: calm, loving and happiest when close to his family.Larry is good on the lead and enjoys his walks, taking time to sniff and explore. He also really loves playing with toys in our paddocks and is often seen galloping around with a ragga in his mouth play bowing at his favourite people. He is social with other dogs and has lived with other small dogs before so he could potentially share his home with a well-matched dog following introductions at the centre.Larry has found the transition to living in kennels more stressful than most and so we want his new home to be as quiet and stable as possible. For this reason we think a home with teenage or no children would be best for him and aid the transition back into a new home. He’s ready to find a loving home that understands the needs of a big, sensitive boy and can offer him stability, companionship and lots of sofa space!

Louie, a 1 year old male Labrador available for adoption from One Wish Dog Foundation in Oxfordshire

One Wish Dog Foundation

Louie

Oxfordshire
SexMale
Age1 year
BreedLabrador

Just a baby, Louie the Labradoodle is only a year old, and he has experienced a lot of upheaval in his life. As such, he is an anxious lad and we are looking for a compassionate home, with a patient owner who will help him to feel safe and happy. In the home and with those he trusts, Louie is amazingly loyal, loving and affectionate. He loves cuddles and devotes himself quickly to the people who he knows he is safe with. He is super quick (and eager) to learn, and he'll thrive with structured, reward-based training. Although he enjoys outdoor adventures, Louie needs some help with learning how to walk nicely on a lead. With time, patience and consistency, we're confident that he will soon learn the ropes. We have already seen great progress in this area since he has been in foster care.Louie can be nervous of people and situations that he doesn't know, so he will need gentle introductions to visitors, the vets and other dogs. We will provide his family with full support but a quiet home is what he needs, so that he can settle and feel less anxious at his own pace. For this reason, we're looking for a home with older children only (over 12 years old).Louie has lived with other dogs before, so we'd be very happy to consider a home with another dog. A few introductions would be needed but having another dog around could well help Louie with his development into adulthood. Louie cannot live with cats or small furries. This lovely boy deserves a second chance so much, and we're committed to finding his happy ever after. If you are interested in giving Louie a life of love, please register your interest below. Alternatively, please contact Jenna at info@onewishdogs.co.uk or on 07850 465077Children: Can live with children over 12 years oldOther dogs: Can potentially live with other dogsOther pets: Cannot live with cats and small furries© 2025 One Wish Dog Foundation.
