Oxfordshire’s mix of historic towns, villages and countryside makes it well suited to a wide range of rescue dogs. Dogs adopted in the county are often matched with homes that can offer stability, routine and access to outdoor exercise. Many rescues covering Oxfordshire work with foster carers to assess how dogs cope with everyday home life before adoption. This careful approach helps ensure dogs are placed into environments where they can settle confidently and long term.

However, many of my friends still need adopting. This is our darling Granny Annie. She is a sweet older girl who is looking for a retirement home where she can be the centre of attention, have lots of fuss as she deserves to, and can join her owner for an afternoon snooze on the sofa when the mood takes her.Granny Annie would be best suited to living with adults or teenagers who can understand when this lovely little lady will need time to do important dog business like lounging in the sun, pondering interesting topics, and inspecting comfortable perches to watch the world go by.In her new home, Granny Annie would like to be the only pet as she doesn’t want much from other dogs and finds cats too much, but don’t worry, this funny and loving sweetheart has enough personality to go around. She loves to go for walks and is quite speedy when she gets going, and would enjoy a trip to any dog friendly café or pub.Granny Annie has shown herself to be housetrained here at the centre and loves to settle on her orthopaedic dog bed whilst the office team get to work – she really isn’t any hassle at all.If this lovely little lady is the canine companion you’ve been looking for, please get in touch today!Flat faced (brachycephalic) dogs suffer from additional health problems, which may impact their quality of life. BreedStaffordshire Bull Terrier

I'm a 4-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier from Burford rehoming centre and I'm looking for my forever home. Please read my profile below to find out more. Thanks for clicking on my profile. I have now been matched with a loving family and I’m looking forward to settling in at my new home. However, many of my friends still need adopting.Blue is a wonderful lad who’s young at heart and full of fun. His absolute favourite game is fetch—especially when his beloved balls are involved! He has lovely manners during playtime and will happily sit and wait for you to throw the ball for him.Blue has previously lived with children and could live with older, confident youngsters who can be involved in his daily care. He’s a social boy when meeting other dogs, though his enthusiasm can sometimes bubble over. With a bit of guidance during greetings, he’ll continue to learn how to keep things calm and friendly. He’s very responsive to training, which will really help support him as he continues to mature. Currently when over excited Blue will compulsively spin so his new owners will need to follow our guidance to help him break this habit as it can become quite disruptive and innapropriate.Out and about, Blue currently enjoys off-lead time in low-distraction areas and shows great recall—though like many bright and eager dogs, he’d benefit from ongoing recall training. He thrives on learning and would really enjoy daily training sessions and enrichment activities to keep his mind busy.Blue is a sociable character who enjoys meeting new people, but he also loves nothing more than exploring on his walks, taking in all the scents of the world around him. Because of his excitable nature, he would be best suited to an owner with experience of his breed, who can help him continue to develop his calmness in those big exciting moments. If you’re looking for a loving, playful companion who’s eager to learn and full of character, Blue could be the perfect match for you.The best way to stay up to date with what's going on at Blue Cross is to join our mailing list.Blue Cross is a registered charity in England and Wales (224392) and in Scotland (SC040154). Buddy, a 1 year old male Cocker Spaniel available for adoption from One Wish Dog Foundation in Oxfordshire

One Wish Dog Foundation

Buddy

Oxfordshire
SexMale
Age1 year
BreedCocker Spaniel

Poor Buddy has experienced a lot of upheaval in his formative years and this has led to anxiety. He becomes overwhelmed in busy, stressful situations so we’re looking for a quiet, compassionate home where he can find his feet again.A clever boy, Buddy absolutely thrives on adventure and enrichment. A typical Spaniel, he’d love a home where he’ll be given jobs to do - for example agility or scent work. An active home is a must but he’s happy to chill once he has tired himself out.The stressful situations that Buddy has been in led him to nip on one occasion. This occurred when he was too overwhelmed and his signs of discomfort unfortunately weren’t picked up on. Boisterous children exacerbate Buddy’s anxiety so we’re looking for a child free home. Although he gets on with other dogs, a pet free environment would be ideal for Buddy so that he has plenty of peace and quiet. If you have experience with Spaniels and think you might be able to offer a loving home to Buddy, please register your interest below. Alternatively, please contact Jenna at info@onewishdogs.co.uk or on 07850 465077Children: Cannot live with childrenOther dogs: Cannot live with other dogsOther pets: Cannot live with cats and small furries© 2025 One Wish Dog Foundation. Please read my profile below to find out more.Chocolate and Sky are a mother and daughter duo on the lookout for a new home where they can enjoy retirement together. These sweet girls are rather active and enjoy two decent walks a day, sniffing hedgerows and running throughout the paddocks here at the centre, never straying far from us. They love to sit on laps and have fuss, sometimes even falling asleep if they are warm and cosy enough!Chocolate and Sky could live with children aged 12 years and above who are content to sneak them treats when they’re feeling peckish and understand when they are partaking in beauty sleep naps. They would like to be the only pets in their new home as they don’t want much from other dogs, often choosing to either ignore them or have a very quick meet before going off on their day. The girls wouldn’t like to live with cats either as they don’t enjoy their company. Both Chocolate and Sky are currently showing signs of being housetrained, however they aren’t fans of being left on their own here at the centre so new owners will need to be around for most of the day to build this up with them.If they sound like the dogs that you’ve been dreaming of, please get in touch today!Flat faced (brachycephalic) dogs suffer from additional health problems, which may impact their quality of life.
