It soon became clear that Remo had also suffered a serious injury to his tongue, believed to have been caused by contact with processionary caterpillars, whose toxins can cause severe tissue damage. Thankfully, he didn't require surgery and, following hospitalisation, fluids, antibiotics and pain relief, he began to recover.Remo has lost a significant amount of his tongue, so he has had to adapt the way he eats, drinks and even cleans himself. He has learnt how to drink by lowering his mouth into a large bowl and gulping the water, and eating certainly isn't a problem for him! Because he can't groom himself as effectively as other dogs, he may occasionally need a helping hand with a wipe down, which fortunately he rather enjoys.Now recovered, Remo is enjoying life in foster in Spain, where he lives indoors alongside Podencos of different ages, sizes and personalities....
