Albert

West Midlands
SexMale
Age3 years
BreedDachshund

Albert is £350 3 years, 10 months old Male, Chocolate Brown & Tan Smooth Miniature Dachshund 6 Kgs Neutered Albert’s family describe him as a wonderful loving dog. Sadly, due to a change in circumstances, Albert is being left alone for longer periods of time, which is increasing his anxiety. His family feels he deserves a home where he can receive the love, companionship, and stability he truly needs. This sweet boy is full of energy. He loves long walks, spending time outdoors, and is happiest when he’s active and engaged. Like many dachshunds, he has a strong prey drive and may try to chase smaller animals, including cats. Albert doesn’t mind smaller sized dogs but is known to be reactive to big white fluffy dogs. Albert finds it very difficult being left alone, he struggles to settle and can become destructive when bored, so he needs a home where someone is around most of the time. With patience, consistency, and ongoing training, Albert has the potential to thrive. He’s a clever lad who loves his food, learns quickly, and already knows some fun tricks, his latest including Paw and Sit! He loves cuddles and being close to his family members. Albert would be best suited to a calm, adult(s) or loving family who can provide him with companionship, plenty of cuddles, and the guidance he needs to grow into a confident, well-mannered boy. In return, he will bring endless love, energy, and joy into your life.

Bonnie, a 3 years old female Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in the UK

The Red Foundation

Bonnie

North Weston
SexFemale
Age3 years
BreedDachshund

Bonnie is a gorgeous, typical mini dachshund who is looking for a home that understands the “big dog in a small body” lifestyle. Indoors, she is an absolute dream; if you’re sitting down, Bonnie is likely curled up on your lap, fast asleep. She is a world-class snuggler who lives for affection and a good game of fetch in the garden. When it comes to other dogs, Bonnie is a bit of a mixed bag. She currently lives happily with another mini dachshund and has been a perfect guest at dog sitters with various small-to-medium breeds. However, like many of her breed, she takes her “guard dog” duties very seriously. She will certainly let you know if the doorbell rings or if a rival dog dares to appear on the television! The main area where Bonnie needs a dedicated and patient hand is on her walks. She struggles with reactivity and will often bark, growl, or lunge at other dogs. While she has never bitten or had a specific “bad experience” to cause this, she finds the outside world quite overwhelming. Her owners have tried to work on this with a trainer, but she remains a work in progress and currently prefers being walked in quiet, calm environments to keep her stress levels down. Bonnie also deals with some separation anxiety. Even with her canine companion nearby, she can have the occasional accident in the kitchen when left alone for short periods. She is looking for a patient owner who is home often and willing to continue working on her confidence and toileting manners. If you have a lap that needs filling and a heart big enough to help a sensitive girl find her brave face, Bonnie will reward you with endless loyalty and the sweetest cuddles you could ask for. Buster

North Weston
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedDachshund

Buster is £450 Buster was recently rescued by his current owner as he was being left crated for long hours in his original home and not given the time and attention that he needed, which was causing him to become increasingly anxious. His current owner describes him as a very gentle and affectionate boy who deserves a home where he can receive the love, companionship, and stability he truly needs. He has come on leaps and bounds since being in his current home but needs a more active home with regular walks and outdoor time to burn off his energy. This sweet boy is full of energy. He is getting used to car rides, loves long walks and playing in parks with other dogs. Buster doesn’t mind other dogs but can be reactive whilst on the lead. Buster hasn’t been around children so we feel he would be best suited to a calm, adult(s) only or loving family with teenage children who can provide him with companionship and plenty of cuddles. He will need help settling in to his new home and lots of gentle guidance to help him grow into a confident, happy boy. In return, he will bring endless love, energy, and joy into your life.

Daffy, a 12 years old male Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in North Yorkshire

The Red Foundation

Daffy

North Yorkshire
SexMale
Age12 years
BreedDachshund

Daffy is £100 Daffy is an affectionate older gentleman looking for a sofa to sunbathe on and a human companion or two to hang out with. Sadly his current family are looking for a new home for him as changes to work schedules mean he is now left alone for much of the day and he is becoming increasingly stressed by this. Daffy is an easy-going boy but his early life was disturbing and difficult. He was rescued from a dog-hoarding situation as a young dog and was in a terrible, starved state. He has since made an amazing recovery but this early experience of not knowing when or if he would be fed means that he resource-guards food. His family manages this very successfully but his new family will need to be mindful around food in order to manage this bite risk – we will give behaviourist support to ensure his move to a new family goes well. Apart from food, Daffy is a straight-forward dog who just wants a gentle walk, a comfy sofa and someone around most of the time. He would love a garden and a quiet home. He lives with other dogs at the moment and is happy to be with them, he also lives with cats so a dog-savvy cat with careful introductions should also work. He is house-trained, although is having accidents at the moment because of the amount of time he is being left. Daffy will be an amazing companion dog, he has a lot of love to give to someone and is in good health, despite his hard start in life. He is a special senior who deserves lots of pets and love!

Dustin, a 4 years old female Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in West Midlands

The Red Foundation

Dustin

West Midlands
SexFemale
Age4 years
BreedDachshund

Dustin is a truly special boy who is searching for a tranquil place to call home. He is a remarkably communicative companion who thrives on human connection and cuddles. His zest for life is evident in his love for play, and he is just as happy socialising with other canine friends as he is engaging in a game with his favourite people. While Dustin is an endearing and loyal soul, he currently finds his environment a bit overwhelming, which leads to feelings of frustration and overstimulation. This often manifests as reactivity when he is out and about, specifically through barking and lunging behaviours. Because of this, he requires a patient, adult-only home where his family is prepared to provide a calm atmosphere and commit to his ongoing training. He may find a calm, spayed female dachshund to be a helpful companion, offering him a sense of stability as he learns to navigate the world more quietly. Dustin is currently undergoing a pain trial for potential discomfort in his back legs and hips. To ensure he remains happy and healthy, any ongoing medical treatment required for this will be fully funded by The Red Foundation. Furthermore, professional behavioural support is available to assist his new adopters, ensuring everyone feels supported through his transition. In the right setting, Dustin’s expressive personality and devoted nature will truly shine, making him an incredibly rewarding addition to a quiet, dedicated household. Fergie, a 2 years old male Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in West Midlands

Fergie

West Midlands
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedDachshund

Fergie is £250 Fergie is a bright and intelligent dachshund who is looking for a new home due to illness in the family which means he is not getting the time and enrichment he needs. Fergie is an all-rounder who enjoys daily walks and games with his owner and is equally happy with sofa snuggles! He is a typical dachshund with plenty of character and his own little quirky ways. He can be wary of strangers at first, as he likes to take his time assessing new people, but once he feels comfortable, he forms very strong bonds and is incredibly loyal, affectionate, and loving. He loves physical closeness with his human and will happily curl up for a cuddle whenever he gets the chance. He enjoys playing with his toys and is intelligent and eager to learn, picking up new commands quickly. Outside the home, Fergie is used to meeting other dogs and is a polite dog who might bark at dogs who invade his space but is generally happy to ignore them. He is used to good walk every day and enjoys a good sniff through the undergrowth. Fergie is in good health. He has colour dilution alopecia which is well managed through his diet and anti-histamines. He is house-trained and sleeps in his current owner’s bedroom. Once settled, he can be left on his own for up to four hours. In the right home he will make a devoted and rewarding companion.

Frankie, a 7 years old male Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in North Yorkshire

The Red Foundation

Frankie

North Yorkshire
SexMale
Age7 years
BreedDachshund

Frankie is a dog with an immense capacity for love; he is a champion cuddler who enjoys nothing more than showering his favourite people with licks and affection. While he is always up for an adventure and thoroughly enjoys his daily walks, he is equally happy to embrace his lazy side and lounge around the house for a peaceful afternoon nap. Because Frankie is a sensitive soul who experiences quite a bit of nervousness and anxiety, he requires an adult-only household or a home with children aged 13 and over who can respect and understand a dog’s boundaries. He is a vocal lad who takes his role as a lookout very seriously, frequently barking at strangers, passing cars, or unfamiliar noises outside. This protective streak extends to his walks, where he may bark at other dogs or people from a distance. Because of his reactive nature, Frankie needs to be the only pet in the home, as he struggles to integrate with other dogs. While he may be wary of new faces initially, Frankie settles beautifully once he becomes familiar with someone. He simply needs a patient, calm owner who can provide him with the routine and reassurance he craves. To ensure Frankie and his new family have the best possible start, The Red Foundation will provide ongoing behavioural support if needed. If you have a quiet home and plenty of room on your sofa for a loving, loyal friend, Frankie is ready to offer you a lifetime of devotion. With a little time and a lot of love, this charming boy will prove to be the most rewarding companion you could ask for. For more information, please email rosie@theredfoundation.org.uk

Lily, a 5 years old female Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in the UK

The Red Foundation

Lily

South East
SexFemale
Age5 years
BreedDachshund

Lily is a loving, loyal, and affectionate girl who is completely blind and suffers from separation anxiety. Her current owners are heartbroken by the decision to rehome her but are finding it increasingly difficult to provide the near constant companionship she requires. She is currently spending time alone at home, which her owners feel is unsuitable and unfair for her. Lily is a very affectionate dog who loves being close to her family and enjoys cuddling. She enjoys playtime, especially chasing toys, she enjoys her daily walks and can walk off-lead but needs close supervision due to her blindness. Lily is not crate trained and sleeps in her own bed. Lily can be reactive around strangers, other dogs and in other situations that she finds challenging. She can become stressed, which manifests as barking and difficulty settling down. Lily has attended Doggy Day Care for three years and has had a few instances of reacting badly to other dogs. In the past, especially when she was losing her sight, Lily would warn people off with an undergrowl and, on occasion, has snapped when she has been approached and she’s found herself in a vulnerable position. However, through training and management, this behaviour is now rare, showing her capacity to learn and adapt with the right support. Lily is highly motivated by food and will often settle when treats are scattered, making her an excellent candidate for continued positive-reinforcement training. Her current owners regret that they lacked the experience and consistency needed for a dog with anxiety, emphasising that the right training approach is crucial for Lily’s continued progress. Support will be provided by The Red Foundation including any behaviour support Lily is a loving soul who needs a home that will commit fully to her needs. With the right training, patience, and love, Lily can continue to make great progress and be a wonderful companion. Lily thrives with her core family. While she has been fine with gentle children (10+), her reactivity to strangers means a quiet, predictable home environment is preferred. She might be happiest as an only dog or with another very calm, established dog following careful introductions.

Oscar, a 8 years old male Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in the UK

The Red Foundation

Oscar

South East
SexMale
Age8 years
BreedDachshund

Oscar is £250 Oscar is a sweet-natured and friendly dachshund looking for a new home because sadly due to a change in his family’s circumstance, they are having to travel overseas on a regular basis and although trying various options for Oscar, they feel he needs routine and consistency and someone who is there to give him the quality of life he deserves. Oscar is an IVDD warrior. He had surgery in 2023 and has had two episodes since then but both of these were managed with pain relief and crate rest with the last one occurring more than a year ago. He is now fully recovered, however it is important that he is not allowed to climb stairs or jump up and down onto sofas. Oscar is affectionate and loving with the people he knows. He loves to play with toys and is very efficient at destroying them! He hasn’t lived with children but has been around grandchildren age 9+ years and for this reason we feel a home with slightly older, more sensible children would be preferred. Oscar is housetrained and will even go out in the rain. He sleeps in his own bed in his owner’s bedroom and has used a crate in the past. He is fine being left for up to four hours although would prefer company, like most dachshunds. Oscar isn’t a fan of car journeys, he gets quite stressed, so a home with a garden and local walks that don’t involve getting in the car would be great. Outside of the home, Oscar loves his walks and enjoys sniffing around in the undergrowth. He walks nicely on the lead and is allowed off lead in safe spaces. He can be barky towards dogs he doesn’t know, usually larger ones but his owner feels he could potentially be happy in a home with another, calm dog. He is a sweet little dog who will be a wonderful companion in a family who can give him the time that he needs.

Otis, a 3 years old male Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in the UK

The Red Foundation

Otis

South East
SexMale
Age3 years
BreedDachshund

Otis is £350 2 ½ years old Male, tweenie (7kg), chocolate dapple Neutered Otis is a sweet-natured boy and his family are heart-broken to be looking to rehome him, but sadly he is no longer getting on with his older dachshund brother (who is intact). Although they get on much of the time, the tension of occasional fights is taking its toll on both dogs and the family has reluctantly decided that Otis, as a younger dog with no health issues, will be happier with a new family. At home, Otis loves nothing more than a lap to rest on or a blanket to snuggle under. He can be left for up to two hours but he is a sociable boy and is used to having people around most of the time. He has a loud bark for people he does not know, but is happy to make friends and his love can be reliably bought with some tasty treats. Otis will soon become your new favourite sous chef, hoping that all recipes involve some kind of cheese that needs to be taste tested first! Outside the home, Otis is an active boy who has regular walks and walks well on the lead. He has reasonably good recall, as long as there are no rabbits to sniff out in the vicinity. He is sociable with dogs when he gets to know them, but can be barky towards unknown ones – he has responded well to training and is very food-motivated which should make future training straightforward. Otis is in excellent health. He travels well in the car. At night-time he sleeps in a dog-bed with his brother. Overall, Otis is a gorgeous boy who will be a great addition for a daxie loving family who will give him the patience and training he needs to reach his full potential.
