Bill, a 2 years old male Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in Cambridgeshire

The Red Foundation

Bill

Cambridgeshire
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedDachshund

Bill is £450 Bill is a loving and sweet-natured boy who enjoys a good sniff in the garden and walks in nice weather – he loves the beach and an occasional paddle. He is looking for a new home as he can no longer live with his litter-mate brother as sadly their relationship has irretrievably broken down. Bill’s current owner describes him as a lovely, soppy boy who enjoys playing with her grandchildren (both aged over 10). He is an active boy who has regular walks and he gets on well with dogs outside the home (not always larger ones), however, because of the stress of living with his brother, we feel he would be happier as the only dog in the home. He walks nicely on the lead and loves off-the-lead adventures in secure places, although he can be an escape artist! He is not a fan of people wearing all dark colours and will bark at them. Bill is in good health. He is crate-trained and sleeps in his crate at night, although during the day he loves to hang out with his people. He will successfully kill any soft toys but enjoys a game of tug with a rope toy. Once settled, he can be left happily for a few hours if needed. He tends to bark at visitors to the home, but will settle if ignored. Bill is a gorgeous boy looking for cuddles, fuss and is very trainable as he will do almost anything for a treat! He will be an amazing pet in a patient, kind home.

Charlie, a 3 years old male Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in North Yorkshire

Charlie

Charlie is £450 3 years old Male, Tweenie (8kg), Chocolate & Tan Smooth Coat Not Neutered If you are searching for a loyal companion with a heart of gold, Charlie is currently in kennels and is ready and waiting to find his forever home. This charming boy is finally discovering the joy of being a dog after spending much of his early life in confinement without the chance to socialise or explore the great outdoors. Since arriving into our care, Charlie has blossomed into a truly wonderful companion, and while his past was limited, his future is looking incredibly bright. Once you have gained his trust (a process that usually doesn’t take very long at all with some treats!) you will have a friend for life as he absolutely adores fuss and cuddles from his people. When he isn’t looking for affection, you can find him zooming around the paddock. He is a playful lad who just needs a little bit of encouragement to get stuck into his toys, and watching his confidence grow has been a total joy. In true sausage dog fashion, Charlie is highly motivated by his stomach. He is very food-oriented, which makes him a dream to train. He already knows his name and basic commands like “sit” and “paw,” and he is always the first one back inside when he knows breakfast is waiting. While he is currently unneutered and can be a little reactive to other dogs when he is on a lead, he is generally unbothered when roaming free. His trainers have found that he handles traffic well and that his lead reactivity is easily managed with a few pieces of chicken and some positive distraction. With a bit of patience and consistency, we believe he will continue to improve and we will provide behaviourist support if needed. Charlie is looking for a patient home where he can continue his education and finally enjoy the life of luxury he deserves. He can be left for up to four hours, once settled.

Cooper And Daisy, a 5 years old female Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in Cambridgeshire

The Red Foundation

Cooper And Daisy

Cambridgeshire
SexFemale
Age5 years
BreedDachshund

Cooper is the more nervous of the two and he will need time and patience to get used to his new family and routines. At the moment they are not getting enough regular exercise, and their new family will need to be prepared to manage two dogs with different energy levels – Cooper loves a walk and is always up for an adventure; Daisy is more sedate and would probably prefer to snooze on the sofa, especially if the weather isn’t to her taste! They bark at strangers and larger dogs but will usually settle quickly enough. Despite being an active boy, Cooper is unsure about many things outside the home and will bark at unexpected surprises such as wheelie bins and cyclists. He can also bark and lunge at people who approach him too quickly and unexpectedly, but he has never bitten and will be manageable with patient, consistent handling. We will provide behaviourist support to help both dogs successfully adjust to their new home. Both dogs are in good health, although Daisy is overweight and her new owners will need to monitor her eating and encourage her to be more active so she can become a healthier size. In the home, they sleep downstairs in a crate together. They are house-trained and can be left on their own for up to 4 hours on occasion. Neutering both dogs is a condition of adoption (The Red Foundation will pay) and we will discuss this with potential adopters.

Dilly, a 2 years old male Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in Cambridgeshire

The Red Foundation

Dilly

Cambridgeshire
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedDachshund

Dilly is the ultimate homebody, offering deep loyalty and endless affection to those within his inner circle. While the outside world can feel a bit loud and overwhelming for this young lad, he truly blossoms in a calm environment. He is a dedicated lap dog who lives for evening cuddles on the sofa, proving to be the most gentle and loving companion once the curtains are drawn and the day is done. In the comfort of the home, Dilly is an absolute delight. Although he may be a little shy initially, he is remarkably friendly to visitors when given a bit of time and some positive reinforcement. He thrives on a predictable routine and a consistent atmosphere where he feels safe and understood. Because he finds the hustle and bustle of modern life stressful, he is looking for a patient owner who recognises that his big reactions to other dogs come from a place of uncertainty rather than malice. The ideal setting for Dilly is a peaceful home with a large, secure garden where he can play and explore without the pressure of meeting other animals. He finds encounters with other dogs very difficult and will bark or lunge to communicate his discomfort, so he would best suit a life of quiet, dog-free walks in secluded areas. Dilly is not looking for busy dog parks or high-street cafes; instead, he craves a simple, tranquil life where his boundaries are respected.

Koa, a 5 years old female Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in West Midlands

The Red Foundation

Koa

West Midlands
SexFemale
Age5 years
BreedDachshund

Koa is a beautiful boy who is searching for a forever home following a relationship break up. His owner is having to leave him on his own more often and therefore has made the tough decision to rehome him. He is described as a trusting and loyal boy who loves to be snuggled on his owner’s lap. His favourite pastimes include walking in the countryside and sunbathing in his garden. Koa is good with adults he knows, but has shown some resource guarding behaviour towards toys. His owner has worked with a behaviourist and this behaviour has reduced and is managed well. Koa has previously guarded food but since having an operation on his knee in December 2024 this has stopped. Koa still hops occasionally, but the vets can find no reason for this since the operation. For these reasons we are looking for a home with no children or visiting children and which is confident in managing resource guarding behaviour or someone willing to learn. Full behaviour support will be given by The Red Foundation behaviour team. Koa has bitten on 3 occasions, twice at a daycare facility when they attempted to put a harness on him and once when a friend of the owner stroked him whilst he was asleep. Koa gives clear signals when he is uncomfortable and he has never bitten his owner. He is described as being excitable when people he knows enter the house although he can be barky, he settles quite quickly, however this takes longer with strangers and will need to be managed. He loves to walk and is happy to meet other dogs of all sizes, although sometimes he has a dislike of entire males. He has never lived with another dog, but we feel he does have the potential to live with a calm neutered female after successful meets. Koa can cry in the car, usually on the way to a destination, but not on the way home. He currently sleeps with his owner at night, although slept comfortably on the sofa when a dog sitter stayed with him. He isn’t crate trained but is happy to be left alone for up to 4 hours with free roam of the house. If you meet all the requirements and could give gorgeous Koa a new forever home, please click Make Enquiry above or email sarah@theredfoundation.org.uk

Lilly, a 5 years old female Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in North Yorkshire

Lilly

North Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age5 years
BreedDachshund

Lilly is £350 Lilly is the absolute definition of cute. After being surrendered following a low-grade episode of IVDD, she has proven herself to be a total warrior. While she still has a signature little wobble in her step, she is officially back on the move and feeling much more like her usual bubbly self. Since arriving in foster care, Lilly has shown everyone just how sweet and loving she truly is. She has even been busy socialising and making plenty of new friends with other daxies about town! Despite her recent health challenges, she remains the perfect little companion who balanced her love for life with a very chilled-out nature. She thoroughly enjoys her cuddles and thrives on plenty of TLC, yet she is also remarkably easy-going and is perfectly happy being left alone for a few hours. Lilly is looking for a forever home that will cherish her resilient spirit and provide the cozy environment she deserves.

Lily, a 5 years old female Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in the UK

Lily

South East
SexFemale
Age5 years
BreedDachshund

Lily is a loving, loyal, and affectionate girl who is completely blind and suffers from separation anxiety. Her current owners are heartbroken by the decision to rehome her but are finding it increasingly difficult to provide the near constant companionship she requires. She is currently spending time alone at home, which her owners feel is unsuitable and unfair for her. Lily is a very affectionate dog who loves being close to her family and enjoys cuddling. She enjoys playtime, especially chasing toys, she enjoys her daily walks and can walk off-lead but needs close supervision due to her blindness. Lily is not crate trained and sleeps in her own bed. Lily can be reactive around strangers, other dogs and in other situations that she finds challenging. She can become stressed, which manifests as barking and difficulty settling down. Lily has attended Doggy Day Care for three years and has had a few instances of reacting badly to other dogs. In the past, especially when she was losing her sight, Lily would warn people off with an undergrowl and, on occasion, has snapped when she has been approached and she’s found herself in a vulnerable position. However, through training and management, this behaviour is now rare, showing her capacity to learn and adapt with the right support. Lily is highly motivated by food and will often settle when treats are scattered, making her an excellent candidate for continued positive-reinforcement training. Her current owners regret that they lacked the experience and consistency needed for a dog with anxiety, emphasising that the right training approach is crucial for Lily’s continued progress. Support will be provided by The Red Foundation including any behaviour support Lily is a loving soul who needs a home that will commit fully to her needs. With the right training, patience, and love, Lily can continue to make great progress and be a wonderful companion. Lily thrives with her core family. While she has been fine with gentle children (10+), her reactivity to strangers means a quiet, predictable home environment is preferred. She might be happiest as an only dog or with another very calm, established dog following careful introductions.

Little Miss Red, a 4 years old female Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in Greater London

Little Miss Red

Greater London
SexFemale
Age4 years
BreedDachshund

Little Miss Red is £350 4 years old Female, mini, smooth, red piebald (8kg) Little Miss Red is a gorgeous mini dachshund who is looking for a new home as she is living in a busy home with children and other dogs and is now looking for a more relaxing life, hopefully with a new dog friend. Little Miss Red is a typical dachshund who loves her special people and enjoys cuddles, a nice cosy spot on the sofa and sunbathing when the weather is good. She has always lived with dogs, so she will enjoy the companionship of another dog, probably a confident male as she can be bossy with other female dogs. Outside the home, Little Miss Red enjoys her walks and has good recall. She is happy to ignore other dogs and is a well-socialised dog who is particularly used to living with dachshunds. She is also loves to dig so might like a sand pit in her new forever home so she can continue perfecting her digging antics! Once settled, Little Miss Red can be left for up to 4 hours a day. She is toilet trained but in true dachshund fashion hates the wet, so may need some coaxing out occasionally. She currently sleeps with other dogs in the kitchen in her bed. She is comfortable with older children but we feel she will prefer a calmer environment, although visiting children should be fine. Little Miss Red has had puppies in the past and is in good health.

Milo, a 9 years old male Dachshund available for adoption from The Red Foundation in Cambridgeshire

Milo

Cambridgeshire
SexMale
Age9 years
BreedDachshund

Milo is the definition of a fighter. After a whirlwind few months battling IVDD and undergoing spinal surgery, this sweet boy is officially on the road to recovery. He is already hitting huge milestones, from regaining control of his bladder to finding his feet and trying to stand on his own. He is looking for a dedicated teammate who will cheer him on through his daily physio programme and help him reach his full potential, whatever that may look like. For Milo, the world can be a little overwhelming at times. He can be a bit of a watchdog who likes to alert you to outside noises, so a quiet sanctuary away from a busy road is a must for his peace of mind and your ears. Because he thrives in a predictable environment, Milo requires an adult-only home where he can focus on his rehabilitation in a calm atmosphere. When it comes to four-legged friends, Milo currently lives with other dogs and could potentially live with another calm dog, pending a successful meeting. It is important to note that he has shown some resource guarding behaviour towards other dogs in the past, so this will need to be managed carefully by his new adopters. His future family should be prepared to oversee his interactions and manage his environment, especially around food or toys, to ensure he feels secure and relaxed. Milo has been through so much and has handled it all with a wagging tail and a loving heart. He just needs one person to see his potential and commit to his journey. If you have a quiet home and a lot of love to give, Milo might just be the missing piece to your puzzle.
