Zika

Zika has been with us since 2023. He did spend six months in a home, and although he generally settled well, it became clear that he found some situations very difficult. In particular, he struggled with strangers visiting the home and with separation anxiety. Despite having routine and consistency, his anxiety escalated and he resorted to chewing doors in a desperate attempt to get to his person.Zika is a dog who forms strong bonds and does not like being separated from those he trusts, but he also needs clear boundaries and guidance. He requires a very experienced adopter or fosterer who is willing to give him the time, patience and space he needs to settle. It is important that his adopter can read his body language and understand when he is feeling unsure or overwhelmed, as Zika has bitten in the past and can be quick to react if he feels challenged or unsafe.For the right person, Zika is incredibly rewarding.
