Handsome 3.5 year old AL arrived with us on the 9th May 2026.AL loves to see the volunteer walkers and walks well on the lead. He is interested to see there are other breeds of dog on his walks but doesn't react negatively towards them. He has shown he is a confident, friendly and affectionate boy who also enjoys spending time in the enrichment (home from home) room playing with toys.AL doesn't like to miss out and loves to be involved in everything that's going on! He could live in a home with another female hound or would be equally happy as an only dog. We think AL would prefer to live with older children, 10 years plus.Details of our homing requirements can be found on this link: https://makants.uk/adopt-foster/

Albie, a 6 years old male Bulldog available for adoption from Pennine Pen Animal Rescue in Greater Manchester

Pennine Pen Animal Rescue

Albie

Greater Manchester
SexMale
Age6 years
BreedBulldog

Albie arrived into our care after being found tied to a bench in a busy town centre. He was taken in by the dog wardens and brought to us from the pound. When Albie first arrived, he was understandably terrified of everyone and everything around him. He could not understand what was happening and was clearly overwhelmed by his situation. Thankfully, it only took a few hours for him to begin trusting one of his carers, and that bond helped him gain confidence in both his surroundings and the rest of the team.Albie arrived in a heart-breaking condition. He was extremely underweight, had bald patches on his legs, and his nails were severely overgrown, making it painful for him to walk. It was clear he had suffered neglect and had not received the care he deserved.Fast forward just a short time, and the progress he has made is incredible. Despite everything he has been through, Albie remains a sweet, affectionate, and happy boy. Once he trusts you, he forms a very strong bond and is an absolute pleasure to be around. He adores attention, cuddles, and fuss, and watching him learn to feel safe again has truly melted our hearts.Health-wise, Albie is already thriving. With regular meals he has started gaining weight, his nails were trimmed on arrival, bringing him instant relief, and he has enjoyed a well-deserved pampering session and bath. He now smells wonderful, and his coat is looking brighter and healthier every day.Albie is confident and affectionate with the people he knows, but he finds new people quite intimidating. When meeting strangers, he will often retreat and hide until he feels safe enough to come out on his own terms. He takes comfort from familiar people and prefers to observe from a distance before deciding whether he wants to say hello. Importantly, he is not reactive in any way.In his future home, we feel a crate or designated safe space would benefit him greatly, giving him somewhere secure to retreat to whenever he feels overwhelmed.Once he knows and trusts you, Albie is happy to jump in and out of a vehicle independently. He absolutely loves his walks and is very confident when out and about. He enjoys exploring the world around him and looks to his handler for guidance. He has shown himself to be dog-social and has been non-reactive around other dogs.In fact, Albie can sometimes feel more confident meeting new people when another friendly dog is present, so homes with an existing dog may be considered following successful introductions.Albie has come such a long way in a short space of time and now deserves a loving, patient family who will continue to help him build confidence and enjoy the life he should always have had.APPOINTMENT ONLY from 1pm – 3pm Monday to SundayRescue Centre Address: Honeywell Lane, Oldham, OL8 2JPParking: Free parking facing the RescuePennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO has been in operation since 2001, serving the needs of the local community of Oldham. Alice, a 6 years old female Greyhound available for adoption from Makants Greyhound Rescue in Greater Manchester

Alice

Greater Manchester
SexFemale
Age6 years
BreedGreyhound

6 year old Alice joined us in September and soon settled in. This lovely girl, even though she is six years of age, is very fit for her age and does look forward to her daily walks.Alice is a character, is full of personality and doesn't want to miss a thing. She especially loves toys and to pinch them off other greyhounds if possible!Alice is a very affectionate girl with all our volunteers and also loves to spend time with the other greyhounds. She has already spent some time in our enrichment (home from home) room which she fully inspected, enjoyed playing with toys, but was quite curious about the T.V. on the wall. For Alice we’re looking for a home with someone who has experience of larger dogs, but not necessarily greyhounds. We feel Alice would be happy to live as an only hound or could equally happily live with another male hound. She would benefit from the company of an adopter who is at home a large amount of time, and this is especially important during the initial settling in phase. We feel Alice would be best suited to live with older children 13 plus. Details of our homing requirements, along with an application form, can be found on

Alizari, a 5 years old female German Shepherd available for adoption from Manchester and Cheshire Dogs Home in Greater Manchester

Manchester and Cheshire Dogs Home

Alizari

Greater Manchester
SexFemale
Age5 years
BreedGerman Shepherd

This beautiful girl is Alizari. She is looking for a patient and understanding home where she can continue to grow. When she first arrived in our care, she was timid and nervous around new people and situations. However, with time, consistency, and gentle handling, she has really come out of her shell with our staff. Once she trusts you, she absolutely loves fuss, attention and being close to her people. She will require some basic house training in her new home, so her adopters should be prepared to invest time and patience to help her settle into a routine. She appears to be under-socialised with other dogs and can be reactive in certain situations. For this reason, we are seeking an experienced owner who understands canine body language and is confident managing and continuing her training. Any introductions to other dogs should be carefully managed. Despite her challenges, she is a lovely dog with so much potential. In the right home, with continued guidance and reassurance, we believe she will make a loyal and devoted companion. If you have experience with German Shepherds and can offer a calm, structured environment, this special girl could be the perfect addition to your home. She will need a private secure garden.Alizari will need to be the only dog in the home and cannot live with cats.As She came into the home as a stray we have no previous history on her so would prefer any children in the home to be 14+ years. If you have a holiday booked in the next 3 months please wait until you return to apply for a dog.*Applications that are successful will be provided with further information on each dog to the best of the charity’s knowledge.

Bella

Greater Manchester
SexFemale

BreedCrossbreed

Bella is a typical young pup who is full of energy and loves everyone she meets. She is full of energy and always jumping around ready for her next adventure. Bella needs an active home with someone that can take her on lots of adventures to keep her physically and mentally stimulated. Bella has got a lot of love to give and doesn’t shy away from showing you by jumping up and demanding attention. Bella is currently undergoing some basic training and socialisation to help her become more polite in different situations. This will need to be continued once she goes home. Bella loves playing with (and destroying) her toys and loves a tasty treat.Bella can be rehomed with children 5 years and older – Subject to a successful meet.Bella is currently learning how to interact and play with dogs appropriately but has been improving every day. She loves all of the dogs she meets and just wants to play. She can possibly be rehomed with another dog that can match her energy levels and be a good role model – subject to a successful meet.We are unsure how Bella would react around cats. Please don’t apply for a dog if you are going on holiday within the next 3 months.

Ben

BreedCrossbreed

Ben came into our care as a stray so we don’t have any background information on him. He was very nervous and reserved when he first arrived but his confidence has slowly been building. Once he gets to know you he is a sweet excitable boy. We are unsure if he has ever lived in a home before so would need time to settle and get to know his new surroundings. He is unsure walking on a lead so basic lead work training and commands would be a must for him. Due to his size and breed he would need an active home that is willing to take him on lots of adventures and provide enrichment to help keep his brain stimulated.Due to Ben being nervous when he first arrived we think that it would be best for him to go with children who are 16 years and over – Subject to a successful meet. Potential adopters need to be able to commit to multiple meets so he has chance to get to know you before going home.It would not be suitable for Ben to be rehomed with cats. Please don’t apply for a dog if you are going on holiday within the next 3 months.*Applicants that are successful will be provided with further information on each dog to the best of the charity’s knowledge

Betty-2, a 2 years old female Unknown available for adoption from Dogs 4 Rescue in Greater Manchester

Betty-2

Greater Manchester
SexFemale
Age2 years
BreedUnknown

Beautiful Betty is one of our very special “handicans” looking for her forever home — and what a character she is. Betty has a disability affecting her back legs due to an unknown previous injury. While she doesn’t have direct movement in them, she does use them for leverage and balance, and she gets around far better than you might expect. We’ll be reviewing her condition further with our vet, but please don’t let her disability fool you — it certainly doesn’t hold her back!Betty is bright, happy, and full of life. She absolutely loves playing with other dogs, enjoys rolling around on her back, and has a wonderful way of making everyone around her laugh. She greets people with pure enthusiasm, cuddles, and tail wags — her sweet, affectionate temperament really is one of her most endearing qualities. She is used to living in a home environment, settles well indoors, and is toilet trained. Importantly, she does not require any assistance to go to the toilet. She cannot navigate stairs so will need to live on a ground floor property, ideally with access to a private garden. She has previously lived with cats but we will be carrying out further assessments at the rescue. Betty loves the company of other dogs however, she can display food-guarding behaviours around them, so she will need to be fed separately (she absolutely adores her food!)Due to some dragging of her back paws, Betty will need to wear protective boots when out and about to prevent sores. She will need an understanding and committed home that recognises her additional needs and is happy to support her with this small bit of extra management. Her exercise will need to be limited, though she has her own special wheels which she can use too.Betty is playful and can be a little mouthy in her excitement, but this is all part of her joyful, cheeky personality. She doesn’t see herself as different — and neither should you. She is simply a happy, loving dog who happens to move through the world in her own unique way.If you’re looking for an inspiring, affectionate, and truly special companion, Betty might just be your perfect match. Other dogs: Yes. Cats: TBC. Children: 16+.

Bocko

Greater Manchester
SexMale
Age4 years
BreedGreyhound

Bocko is an ex-racer who has always lived in kennels. He is a bouncy excitable boy who loves going out for walks and exploring. He is a tall boy that at times can take an interest in wildlife, due to being an ex-racer, so can pull on the lead occasionally. He is a friendly and affectionate boy who always says hi to staff and volunteers when he sees them. Bocko is after someone that can take him on adventures to explore and burn off his energy but he also wants somewhere that he can settle down and be comfortable after his walks. With the right family, this giddy boy will blossom into a devoted and entertaining companion who will bring endless smiles and laughter. We feel that he can be rehomed with children that are 12 years and over – subject to a successful meet.Bocko is currently paired and used to living with another greyhound in kennels. He has also interacted well with other dogs whilst on walks so we believe that he could be rehomed with another dog of a similar size and temperament – again subject to a successful meet.Due to Bocko being an ex-racer it wouldn’t be suitable for him to be rehomed with cats or small furries.*Applicants that are successful will be provided with further information on each dog to the best of the charity’s knowledge

Dogs 4 Rescue is a pioneering UK dog rescue charity that has redefined traditional rehoming through its kennel-free, pack-based rehabilitation model. Inspired by rescue approaches seen abroad, the charity focuses on giving dogs companionship, freedom, and a sense of belonging in natural outdoor environments rather than traditional kennels. Dogs are rehabilitated in relaxed social groups, allowing adopters to meet them in a calm, positive setting and challenging misconceptions about rescue dogs, particularly street dogs and Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Over the past nine years, Dogs 4 Rescue has successfully rehomed more than 1,600 dogs across Greater Manchester and continues to expand its innovative approach with the development of a large sanctuary and rehabilitation retreat for harder-to-home dogs.

Pennine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) began in 2007 when founder Sue Curran started taking in unwanted cats and dogs from her flat, before growing into a registered charity in 2014 with the support of like-minded people in Todmorden. PAWS has since supported animals and communities across a wide catchment area including the Calder Valley, Halifax, Burnley, Rochdale, Saddleworth, and the outskirts of Oldham. Known for its strong community presence, the charity has provided rehoming services, advice, neutering support, food bank assistance, and fundraising through local events and markets. In 2024, following careful review and challenges securing a permanent site, PAWS transitioned to a foster-based model to reduce overheads and remain sustainable. This change allows the charity to continue helping animals in need while staying closely connected to the communities it serves.
