SexMale
Age3 years
BreedGreyhound

The handsome Bedrock is a 3-year-old ex-racing greyhound who can’t wait to meet his new family. He is an exuberant soul with a real zest for life who frequently considers himself the life and soul of the party. He truly loves his toys and can often be spotted throwing them around while having a total whale of a time. This handsome fellow is a confident traveller who has thoroughly enjoyed adventuring offsite with our team members. These outings have served as gentle introductions to the big wide world, an environment that is still very much a new frontier for him. Since he can become overwhelmed when faced with too much stimulation all at once, he requires a patient and kind family to act as his best friends and advocates. He will thrive with adopters who allow him to adapt at his own pace so he can slowly learn and grow in confidence. It is important to remember that his background as an ex-racer means he has a highly developed chase drive, and his new family will need to be fully aware of this trait and feel comfortable managing his instincts during daily life. When it comes to affection, Bedrock is our resident champion of the classic sighthound lean and absolutely adores having a fuss made of him. While he genuinely enjoys spending time with his fellow sighthound buddies, he would likely feel more settled as an only pet. He is most comfortable being the centre of attention and will be a loyal companion to a household where he can be the sole focus of his family's love. Bedrock would suit a family made up of adults and teenagers.

BreedLurcher

Meet Bluey — a gorgeous 3-year-old Lurcher with a big personality, a playful spirit, and so much love to give.Bluey is looking for an active and understanding home that can offer him plenty of exercise, affection, and continued guidance as he grows in confidence. He can take a little time to warm up to new people and situations, but once that bond is built, Bluey becomes an incredibly loyal and affectionate companion. He absolutely adores human company and is happiest curled up on the sofa beside his favourite people enjoying lots of fuss and cuddles after a day of adventures.Like many young Lurchers, Bluey is full of life and enthusiasm. He has a fun-loving, playful nature and can be excitable at times, so he will benefit from adopters who can continue his training and help him channel his energy positively. He is a clever boy who enjoys interaction and would thrive in a home where he can enjoy both mental stimulation and regular exercise. We feel he would be best suited to a home with teenagers who understand when he may need a little space while settling in. Once comfortable, his affectionate and goofy personality really shines through, and he quickly becomes a much-loved member of the family.Around other dogs, Bluey can sometimes find introductions and social situations a little overwhelming. However, with calm handling and sensible introductions, he can walk nicely alongside other dogs once familiar with them. Due to this, Bluey is looking for a pet-free home where he can be the centre of attention and continue building his confidence at his own pace. His ideal family would need to be happy to walk him in quiet rural areas to help him feel at ease. We have found that heavily populated dog areas have made his reactivity worse. Bluey is muzzle trained and wears this well, which will help his new family with his continued training journey.Bluey is a wonderful young dog with so much potential, and with the right home he will make a devoted, loving, and endlessly rewarding companion.

Fergal, a 3 years old male Chihuahua x Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier available for adoption from Margaret Green Animal Rescue in Dorset

Fergal

Dorset
SexMale
Age3 years
BreedChihuahua x Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier

Fergal is a 3-year-old male Chihuahua cross who came into our care from a hoarding situation. Having had very little exposure to the outside world, everyday life is completely new to him. The sights and sounds many dogs take in their stride can feel overwhelming, as he was never given the opportunity to be properly socialised. He is naturally worried by strangers and unfamiliar environments. When faced with something new, his instinct is to be cautious rather than curious and he can be flighty if he feels cornered. However, beneath that uncertainty is a sensitive little dog who simply needs time, patience, and understanding to feel safe and secure.Fergal is looking for a very specific type of home. He will need an adult-only multi person household with at least two adults, but with limited visitors, this is due to him becoming very panicked when left on his own. A quiet, calm, and predictable environment will help him settle and begin to build confidence. A busy or frequently changing home would simply be too overwhelming for him.He will also require a fully enclosed, secure garden where he can safely explore at his own pace. At this stage, Fergal is not ready for walks and may not be able to go out into the wider world until he has built significant trust and confidence. His adopters must understand that progress may be slow, and that his world will initially be very small while he adjusts.Fergal needs calm, patient owners who are prepared to invest time in helping him learn the ways of home life and routine. Household noises, daily structure, and forming close bonds are all new experiences for him. He will require multiple visits with potential adopters to allow trust to begin forming before he transitions into his new home.He could potentially live with a calm and confident dog who may help him gain reassurance and learn by example. With careful introductions, he may also be able to live with cats. With kindness, patience, and consistency, Fergal has so much potential. For the right home, watching him slowly grow in confidence and learn to trust will be incredibly rewarding.

Ross

Dorset
SexMale
Age4 years
BreedGreyhound

Ross is a handsome 4-year-old male greyhound who is adjusting beautifully to life beyond the racetrack. He’s swapping racing silks for soft beds and discovering the joys of the pampered pooch lifestyle and he’s sliding right into it with that classic greyhound elegance.Having had no experience of the outside world Ross is still acclimatising to a different routine and walking in the local areas, but he’s learning quickly and taking it all in stride. Everyday sights, sounds, and routines are new to him, so he’ll need a patient, understanding home that’s happy to guide him as he continues to figure things out. Having never been in a home environment before, he will need someone to teach him the ropes of living in a family home, Ross is often found stretched out on his bed enjoying a snooze and would love to carry this on with his new family.True to his breed and background, Ross has a high prey drive, fast movement is very exciting, so he will need to be walked on lead and muzzled during his walks. Making use of rented paddocks will allow him to stretch his legs without his new owners needing to watch out for distractions that could impact his recall.Ross is an affectionate boy with a permanently waggy tail whenever he sees you. He adores human company and is especially motivated by food and treats (the way to his heart is definitely through his stomach!). Toys are still a bit of a mystery to him but discovering them could be a fun journey for his future family.Ross would be happy to live with either a female sighthound or as a lone pampered pooch, as well as with children over the age of 10 years old. Due to his breed Ross would be unable to live with cats or small furries. This boy would love to find a kind understanding home that could help him on his new journey as a part of a family.

Dorset’s mix of countryside, coastline and market towns creates varied opportunities for rescue dog adoption. Dogs rehomed in the county are often matched with adopters who can offer regular outdoor exercise and a consistent home routine. Many Dorset rescues prioritise careful home matching, particularly for dogs that may be sensitive to busy environments. Whether you’re based in a rural village or a more populated area, adopting locally supports responsible rehoming practices.
