Cedar

Cedar is a very timid little lady who has come to us from a breeder. She is completely shut down and has very little life experience, so everything is new and frightening for her.Since arriving, she has shown tiny but meaningful steps forward. At first, she was too scared to eat for over a week. It took a lot of patience, different foods, and ways of feeding before she began to feel safe enough to eat. Eventually, she started taking chicken at the back of her kennel, where she felt secure, and now she will eat her normal food alongside the other dogs, even if someone is watching. In recent weeks she has progressed even further and now will eat a treat from the floor near her kennel mummy.Cedar’s fear of humans is very strong. She avoids being touched or handled, and her whole body tenses when interaction is necessary. But there are glimpses of trust: in the mornings, she runs to the front of her kennel, tail wagging, giving kisses when she sees someone familiar. It’s the only time she ...
