Barry

BreedPointer

This is Barry. He arrived recently from Romania.Barry has clearly had a rough time in Romania and been left with a big scar on the back of his head . After a recent vet trip we have been informed that Barry does not have any sight in his right eye and does show some neurological deficits. Unfortunately there is nothing to be done and Barry has adapted well. He will always just be a little different. But the love he has to give will make up for any loss. Barry unfortunately was unable to find a foster placement so has found himself in kennels. Barry has shown him self to be a typical bouncy and friendly Pointer. He loves attention and is desperate to find himself a foster or forever home.Barry is slowly meeting all the volunteers and kennel staff and loving and time he has with them. He has been a good boy and loving discovering toys and what life should be like. Can you offer Barry a spot on your sofa ? Barry will need a secure garden with 6ft fencing minimum and no gaps at all.As with all dogs on going training will be needed. Barry can live with dogs, he is not cat tested and children 12+ please.

Baxter, a 4 years old male Pointer available for adoption from Dogs Trust in Kent

Are you right for Baxter?Baxter is looking for a home with active adopters who can take him on lots of exploring, sniffy adventures in quiet walking areas, such as private hire fields, who can provide him with extra activities such as scent work or agility to keep his clever brain busy and give him all the care and attention he deserves. He can live with children aged 12 and over who understand that he is a large clumsy boy, who will play nicely with him and give him space to rest when needed. Baxter likes his attention undivided so is looking to be the only pet in the home; however, once settled in the home, there is a potential for him to have doggy walking friend who can tolerate his bouncy clumsy behaviour out and about. He is a very clever lad, he already has ‘sit’, ‘paw’ and ‘stay’ in the bag, he would definitely be up for learning more in short, sweet sessions with the help of a tasty treat. Baxter has been toilet trained in the past, but may need a refresher in his new home so a private, secure garden is needed. Once settled into the home, Baxter can get a little worried being left alone, he could be left for up to 1-2 hours, this would need to be built up slowly once he has had time to settle into his. Baxter will need to meet his adopters multiple times prior to going home with potential home visits to make sure that he is settling in nicely so any potential adopters will need to live within 45 mins drive of the centre, please bear this in mind when applying. Please note that should you be shortlisted, our rehoming process usually takes up to 7 days, and potential adopters would be required to come to the centre to meet him within 48hrs of being shortlisted.

Feb 2026 - things are URGENT for Boomer because his owner is soon moving to council accommodation that won’t allow dogs.Boomer is a friendly 4 year old boy who we rehomed 2.5 years ago. Sadly, his dad now has a few health issues that mean he cannot give him the time and exercise that he needs, so we are looking for a NEW HOME for him. If you are interested in helping him after reading his details, please email us on gsprescueuk@gmail.com . If you’ve already sent a form in – please still let us know if you are interested in Boomer.Boomer is a lovely, excitable boy who loves human interaction. In his current home he has become VERY attached to his dad. He is rarely left alone and does not cope well; he barks if left, even for very short times, like in a car, and can cause some damage. Even if he is with other people, he will bark and not settle, constantly looking for dad.Due to his dad’s mobility issues he isn’t getting out running as much as he used to. He’s an energetic dog and needs a home with experience of training, and an owner who wants to do something like mantrailing, agility or canicross with him. He needs lots of stimulation and structured training, more than your average pet dog. He used to have OK recall and knew some commands, like ‘come’ and ‘close’ and had some whistle recall, but that is weaker now, possibly due to him not having as much input as he needs. He needs a home where he does not need to be left alone. Ideally a home with someone experienced in dealing with separation anxiety, who can help him improve with management and training, and to be more flexible. He needs a very secure garden – he will jump fences, and out of windows, if he is looking for his dad! He has attended doggy day care but he doesn’t settle well, so this isn’t necessarily helping him. He’s great with children but is very clumsy, knocking toddlers over, so older children would be OK. He’s also great with other dogs.A bit of his history- Boomer has already had two previous homes. In his first post-puppy home he was with a family with four children aged from 1 to 13 years old. With work and four children, those owners didn’t have time to work on any training with him, so he was rehomed within the family to his second home, at 7 months. His second owner then had to move home and lived in a busy house on a farm. Even though he was with four other dogs, he couldn’t be left at all. He escaped from the farm a few times, when left, so his owner made the sad decision to rehome him – he was around 18 months old. Living on that farm meant he saw cats and livestock lots. He was curious but didn’t chase (however his current owner says he now chases).Boomer is a healthy, active boy. He has a few bumps on his legs from being clumsy but none cause issues. He eats good quality kibble that helps settle his stomach. He is neutered. He currently sleeps on his dad’s bed. He travels OK in a car.Boomer is currently near Arundel/Chichester. If you think you could give this boy his forever home, where you can continue to work on his general training and separation anxiety, then please email us on gsprescueuk@gmail.com. Boomer will be rehomed with Agria 5 weeks insurance, under our Adoption Contract and GSP Rescue UK terms and conditions apply.

Buddy, a 5 years old male Pointer available for adoption from GSP Rescue UK in Wales

Buddy

Wales

BreedPointer

Buddy is a very handsome 5-year-old GSPxESS and a lovely smaller size at around 23kg. This affectionate boy is looking for a new home where he can enjoy plenty of companionship due to his separations anxiety and where he can continue to thrive. Buddy absolutely loves people and being part of the family. He is a friendly, gentle boy who enjoys nothing more than spending time with his humans. He currently lives with an 8-month-old baby and is calm and relaxed around her, happily sharing the sofa with his owners while she is nearby and accepting gentle strokes. He has also spent time with visiting children aged 5 and 3. While he can sometimes be a little cautious at first, he enjoys joining in when they play with toys or feeding games, and he is very happy around older children and visiting adults.Buddy enjoys his walks and exploring the outdoors. He walks nicely on a harness and lead and loves having the opportunity to run and explore. Due to his reactivity around other dogs, he is only let off lead when the park is clear of other dogs or when visiting private dog parks where he can enjoy the space safely. His recall is generally good, especially to “Buddy come” or a whistle, although like many gundog crosses he can occasionally be distracted by exciting wildlife such as squirrels or birds. Buddy can be reactive around other dogs, particularly unfamiliar or excitable male dogs. He tends to do best with calm dogs who respect his space and he is comfortable with dogs he already knows well – he regularly stays with a friend who has a male dog and does well there. However, he can feel uncomfortable if dogs rush up to him, and around three years ago he did attack a male dog while on a group walk with a dog walker. With careful management and the right introductions, Buddy can happily coexist with the right canine companions.Buddy’s owners have worked hard to support him with his separation anxiety using the Julie Naismith training approach alongside veterinary-prescribed Fluoxetine, and this helped him build up to being left for up to two hours. Since the arrival of their baby, they have not been able to continue the training as consistently and Buddy has taken a step back in his progress, which is why the difficult decision has been made to find Buddy a new home where he can continue progressing with the time and support he needs. Buddy can sometimes feel a little anxious when travelling in the car, although he also becomes very excited when he recognises familiar destinations.Buddy is currently based in the Leeds area and is looking for a loving new home where he can enjoy lots of company, patience and understanding. In return, he will offer plenty of affection, loyalty and companionship. Buddy will be rehomed with 5 weeks’ free Agria insurance and an Adoption Contract. GSP Rescue UK Terms and Conditions apply. Buzz, a 4 years old male Pointer available for adoption from GSP Rescue UK in Wales

Buzz

Wales

Age4 years
BreedPointer

Buzz is a very handsome 27kg, 4 year old who’s owners have made the decision to find him a new home because he has been snappy with them both in the past and with a toddler around they don’t feel that they trust him. He has never been anything but wonderful with the little one, even when she’s trying to take something out of his mouth or play with him. With the teenager he’s also been great until this week when he growled at him for the first time, which was sad because Buzz normally adores him and follows him everywhere and they can often be found having a rough and tumble game together. There has been issues in the past where his owner has tried to get him off the bed and he snapped at her, she left the room and went back in and Buzz’s growled. Buzz then got off and went into the teenagers room and was perfectly polite and happy again. The next day Buzz stole a jumper of the baby’s and resourse guarded it. When he was fed up with it he dropped it and walked away. His owners say he’s always been a bit like this. He is good with visitors but does jump up on them when they arrive, he can also jump up on his owners and the 14 year old. Buzz loves going camping most weekends with the family and on hot days is happy going to air-conditioned shopping centres where he behaves perfectly. He’s also visited dog friendly cafes and restaurants and again behaved beautifully. He does love to cuddle and will most nights try and get on his owners knee and can be very affectionate and is protective of them. He loves playing ball games or flirt pole in the garden, he responds well to commands such as sit, lay, paw, spin, roll and wait. They also play find it where they get him to sit and wait then hide treats around the house or garden and tell him to find it and he’ll sniff them all out, he will also do this on a walk if they take a bag of treats and scatter them for him. When they moved house there was a large trampoline in the garden which Buzz instantly took to. They couldn’t get rid of it because Buzz liked to get on top of it and sunbathe and if they give him a bone he will take it on top of the trampoline to eat. They always refer to it as Buzz’s trampoline. He is brilliant with other dogs and has a dog walker who takes him out with multiple dogs, he plays with family members dog absolutely fine. The family had help from a behaviourist and were impressed at Buzz’s instant respect for the trainer. Buzz was amazing with him, but at home when they tried to copy those techniques Buzz didn’t show them the same level of respect. They also took him to puppy classes when he was much younger and he loved that. Buzz hasn’t lived with cats but is just curious when he sees them. Around livestock he is always on lead because his owners believe that he could chase. They usually use long line to his harness on walks because he doesn’t have a reliable recall. He also wears a figure of eight or a slip lead. He is a healthy, neutered boy from working bloodlines, he has had a fatty lump checked on his neck and it has been confirmed as nothing sinister by the vet. He can also be left on his bed in the kitchen for 4/5 hours after exercise and is a great traveller, when they go anywhere he settles down and sleeps or gazes out of the window. Buzz is currently in the Barnsley area and will be rehomed with his 5 weeks free Agria Insurance and his Adoption Contract. If you feel you can work with this lovely lad please contact us. 13/12/25 Lovely Cookie needs to move to a new home asap, even though we know that the timing isn’t perfect. Cookie now renamed Oscar is looking for a new home he has been in his new home for two months and in that time he has made lots of improvements and settled very well. In an area without too many scents his recall is now very good, he does range after scents in more exciting areas but does also know where you are to come back to. Oscar has bonded quickly with his male owner and does suffer with separation anxiety when he’s away from Oscar, which is understandable after such a short time. He’s a very gentle, loving boy who enjoys lots of fuss and sofa cuddles. Very sadly he is now looking for a new home because yesterday while out walking after a really lovely walk he nipped a delivery man that was bending down to lift a parcel back into the van. Luckily he didn’t break the skin or damage his high viz jacket but with this being so out of character with Oscar his owners say that they’ve lost confidence in him and would like us to move him as soon as possible. So we are ideally looking for a new home but would consider an experienced foster home for lovely Oscar who has also now been neutered. Oscar is currently in the Moreton-in -Marsh area. If you feel that you can help Oscar please contact us. October 2025 Cookie is a very handsome 6 year old male GSP who has been rescued from an unpleasant situation along with his great friend Magic who is 4 years believed to be a stunning GSPxLabrador The lady that rescued them has been assessing them in different environments but they will both need to find homes as a matter of urgency either together or separately with people around for company.Cookie is a very friendly, happy boy, he isn’t a fan of his crate when you are in the house and will whine for you to let him out for cuddles, but has been happy being crated overnight, he has good house manners and appears to be happy to be in multidog household. He has been walked through a small town which was busy with people, children and other dogs and all he was interested in was the pigeons. He was trying to be polite and well mannered but his excitement at these surroundings sometimes got the better of him and he could pull, but when corrected he responded well and learned quickly. He appears to have a good recall but this hasn’t been completely tested because of the length of time he’s been in rescue, so he’s currently on a long line which again he seems happy with. There are videos available of the both boys hopefully in the comments below. Today Cookie has met some children while out and about and even though it’s only been a very short time in this home his experienced handler has no concerns about him with his balanced and calm demeanour. He’s also met horses grazing on the mountain which didn’t phase him or cause him any upset or interest. Cookie was also very good at the vets which was very busy in the waiting area and he allowed the vet nurse to handle him and scan his chip all without any issues or concerns. His handler has already established in a very short space of time that he is a real character, a loving boy with a very mischievous personality, he is able to open doors, gates and cupboards all with a practiced ease and skill. He easily jumped a 5’ gate but he did return immediately when called back by the whistle, so a secure garden will be needed for this gorgeous lad. He is vaccinated from 16/09/25 with upto date flea and worm treatments, he isn’t yet neutered and that will be done by us as part of our Adoption Contract. He travels very well and has shown no issues being crated in a vehicle. Cookie is currently near Abergavenny and will be rehomed with his 5 weeks free Agria Insurance and his Adoption Contract. If you feel you can give this lovely lad the life he deserves please contact us. GSP Rescue UK Terms and Conditions apply.

Dustin is a stunning German Shorthaired Pointer who has come to us from a breeder in Ireland. This handsome boy is bursting with energy and adores nothing more than zooming around and having fun. He is a strong lad, both in build and personality, so he will need an equally strong but gentle handler who can guide him with kindness and help teach him some manners. He adores being close to his humans and never wants to leave your side. We are helping him understand how to keep all four paws on the floor instead of leaning or “hugging” legs. Here at the rescue, Dustin prefers his own company and would be much happier living as the only dog in the home, where he can soak up all the love and attention for himself. He could be homed with dog savvy teenagers.Like many dogs who come to us, Dustin has never lived in a home before, so he will need patient adopters to help him learn all about house training and the everyday routines of home life. He can already walk on a lead, though his strength means he’ll need some practice and consistency in his new area before he’s ready to head off on big adventures. He is currently learning to walk on a halti to help with his pulling.Dustin is an active boy who would thrive in an equally active household, one that can give him plenty of playtime, long walks, and new adventures to enjoy. He is always thrilled to see people, as you can see from his pictures, with his super-long tongue! Dustin is a wonderful, cheerful dog who is just waiting for a family who can match his zest for life. With the right home, he will make an energetic, loyal, and loving companion.Dustin has visited our vet, who noted that he has a slightly abducted gait with splayed back legs, this doesn't effect his mobility at all, but his adopters would need to monitor this in the future as it could be a sign of developing hip dysplasia further down the road. He is currently trialing some pain killers to see if this helps him. His adopters would need to be aware that anything regarding this would not be covered by insurance. He has recently presented with lameness of the right forelimb that is being monitored. He has a travel document.

This very handsome boy is Evan, and he’s searching for his forever home. Evan came to us from a breeder and, while he is a truly wonderful dog at heart, he does have some quirks that mean he’s looking for a specific kind of family. With the people he knows and trusts, Evan is full of love. He greets his friends with a waggy tail, a happy face, and so much affection, whether he’s in his kennel or out enjoying a walk. With new people, Evan can be a little reserved at first, but he’s making steady progress in building confidence. He’s learning that gentle fuss and kind hands bring good things, and once that bond of trust is formed, he gives it back tenfold. In the past, Evan has shown some uncertainty around men. He went into foster for a day however returned to kennels when he wasn’t keen on the man in the home. Because of this, we’ve been working with him, slowly and positively introducing him to more of our male staff and volunteers. He goes for walks with one of our regular male volunteers and his circle of friends is quickly expanding. With the men he knows well, he absolutely thrives, showing that patience and consistency are the keys to unlocking his very best self.Evan is thriving in our care, he’s clean in his kennel, enjoys his walks, and adores spending time with his carers. He would love an active home where he can enjoy plenty of adventures and mental stimulation.Evan could share his home with older, dog-savvy teenagers aged 16 and over, who can appreciate and understand that he will need a gentle, quiet introduction to the home and his own space to settle in. He’d be happiest with a calm female dog but the match has to be right. He doesn’t want to share his home with male dogs, but he’s fine meeting them out and about on walks. We’re unsure if Evan has ever lived in a home before, so he may need some guidance with house training and learning the ropes of home life.Evan needs a home with people who have experience with his breed (or similar breeds) and who understand how to support a dog with his background. Calm, confident handlers who use positive, reward-based methods will help him flourish. Please don’t be put off by his needs Evan has so much love to give, and in the right home, we know he will blossom into the most loyal and devoted companion. The bond he will form with the right person will be truly one of a kind.Evan has a travel document.Evan has been given the Gift of Life by Christine Wetherill
