Buckinghamshire’s mix of market towns, villages and open countryside makes it well suited to a variety of rescue dogs. Dogs adopted in the county are often placed with families, couples or individuals looking for a balance between town convenience and outdoor space. Many rescues covering Buckinghamshire carry out thorough home checks and take lifestyle into account, particularly where commuting or family commitments are involved. From quieter rural homes to busier areas such as High Wycombe and Aylesbury, rescue dogs here are matched carefully to ensure lasting placements.

Buddy

Buckinghamshire
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedBoxer

Buddy is a 14 month old red and white boxer bobtail boy, who is still entire. He very nervous when meeting new people, especially men. He will usually bark on first meeting but is won over quite quickly with treats. He has come into rescue because although his family love him, circumstances mean they are not able to give him the time, attention and training he needs. He is a strong boy, his lead walking skills are sadly completely lacking and he has no recall. He displays his nervousness by barking at other dogs as well. His previous owner was not Buddy’s first home and there was concern that previously he had not been well-treated which may have contributed to his nervousness.Buddy needs an experienced home that will work with him, make him feel secure and engage seriously in training to improve his walking and social skills, and to build up his confidence. If you would like to know more about Buddy or feel you could offer him a home, please contact Julie Semmence on 01508 218471 or email [email protected]Currently Buddy is near Kettering, North Northants where you would need to go to meet him. The adoption contract will require Buddy to be neutered once settled in his new home and HCBW will fund this. Adoption donation £400

Dexter is a Loyal, Loving Boxer Seeking a Calm, Understanding Home. Dexter is a truly special boy. An affectionate, intelligent Boxer who forms deep bonds with his people and thrives on connection. He is the kind of dog who will be by your side, quietly keeping you company, always wanting to be close to those he trusts. He has so much love to give and will make an incredibly devoted companion in the right home.About DexterFriendly and affectionate with peopleNo history of aggression towards humansWalks nicely on lead and enjoys his outingsLoves physical closeness and being near his humansBright, sensitive and very in tune with his environmentWhat Dexter NeedsDexter is currently living with another dog, and while both dogs are lovely, the dynamic between them creates ongoing tension and overstimulation. We have seen that Dexter is much more settled and relaxed when he has space away from this. For this reason, Dexter is looking for:A calm, adult-only homeA home as the only dogOwners who can provide clear, consistent structure and boundariesA household that is fairly steady and not overly busy or chaoticUnderstanding DexterDexter is a sensitive boy who can become a little overwhelmed in busy or highly stimulating environments. When this happens, he may struggle to fully switch off and relax. What helps Dexter most is:Calm, predictable routinesGentle guidance rather than constant interactionTime and space to settle without pressureFood & Resource AwarenessDexter can become a little tense around food and high-value items, particularly in a multi-dog environment. This has been manageable with structure, and we have already seen improvement when pressure and competition are reduced. In the right home where resources are calmly managed and there is no competition this is expected to continue to improve. He is not possessive with people and has shown no aggression towards humans.A Note on His NatureDexter bonds deeply, and with that comes a dog who likes to stay close to his people. With the right guidance, he will continue to grow in confidence and independence.Since spending time away from his brother, he has already shown that he is capable of being much more settled and content. The Right MatchDexter would suit someone who:Appreciates a close, loyal companionHas a calm, thoughtful approach to dogsIs happy to provide structure without over-fussingUnderstands that sometimes the kindest thing we can give a dog is clarity and calm
