Archie
CumbriaArchie is available for adoption from Doodle Aid.

Cumbria’s rural landscape and access to extensive walking routes make it particularly appealing for active rescue dogs and outdoor-loving adopters. Dogs rehomed here are often suited to quieter homes with consistent routines and plenty of exercise. Many Cumbria-based rescues place strong emphasis on matching dogs to lifestyles rather than location alone, especially in more remote areas. Adopting a rescue dog in Cumbria can be a great fit for those looking to share their time and surroundings with a canine companion.

Are you right for Barney?Barney, a 7-year-old Patterdale Terrier is a lively, intelligent working breed with plenty of character. He loves his food, which makes him a great candidate for training and enrichment games, although he can sometimes be a bit distracted by the world around him—he’s very interested in everything! He can be strong on the lead as he enjoys exploring, but with positive, consistent training he has great potential to improve. He’ll need an active home that can provide long walks as well as plenty of mental stimulation, but he’s also happy to settle down on the sofa after a busy day.

I would like my family to be around most of the time.I could live with older children.I could live with another calm dog if introductions went well.Basil is a young, enthusiastic Mastiff cross who’s still finding his paws in the world. At just over a year old, he’s full of playful energy and has a lot of love to give but he can find being on his own a little overwhelming at times. He’s looking for a home where someone is around most of the time to help him build confidence and learn that independence can be a positive experience. Basil would benefit from continued training and routine to help guide him through his teenage phase — he’s still very puppy-like in many ways!Basil may be able to live with another well-matched dog of similar size, pending successful introductions, and could live with older, dog-savvy children (secondary school age and up).Ideally, his new owner will have experience with large breeds or be confident in handling bigger dogs. With time, consistency, and plenty of positive encouragement, Basil will make a brilliant companion. If you’re ready for a bouncy best friend with bags of potential, Basil might be just the one for you.**Basil currently weighs 41.2kg**

Benji is a 5-year-old Terrier mix with a fun loving personality and plenty of energy to share with his future family. Slightly taller than your average terrier and weighing around 11kg, Benji is a compact little adventurer who enjoys keeping active but also appreciates the comforts of home. This playful boy loves his toys and will happily keep himself entertained with them, especially if someone is around to join in the fun. Benji enjoys getting out and about for his walks, exploring new smells and places. While he’s not the biggest fan of rainy weather, he will still head out for an adventure if he’s wearing his waterproof jacket even if he does so a little grumpily! We suspect Benji may have a bit of Staffy in his mix, especially when you hear his chattiness. When he wants something, whether that’s playtime, attention, or dinner he isn’t shy about telling you!Benji is also a very affectionate dog who loves being close to his people. In fact, one of his favourite ways to show affection is by giving your ears a very enthusiastic clean! After a good walk or a play session, he’s more than happy to settle down beside you on a nice cosy sofa for some well earned relaxation.Benji would love a home where he can enjoy regular walks and little adventures, before coming back to relax with his family. He would prefer to be the only dog in the household, as he can be reactive around male dogs and can sometimes be a bit too much for female dogs.As Benji hasn’t lived with children before, we feel he would do best in a home with children aged 10 years and over, who can understand his lively nature and give him the space he needs2020 - 2026 Animal Concern Cumbria. Are you right for Buster? Are you ready for a big personality in a not-quite-lap-dog body? Buster is all about his people and wants to be wherever you are—no exceptions. If you sit down, he will find a way to join you, even if the sofa is already full (personal space is simply not his thing). He’s a true cuddle connoisseur and loves snoozing on the sofa or snuggled up in bed with his humans. If you enjoy constant companionship, regular laughs, and a dog who thinks he’s lap-sized despite the evidence… you might just be his kind of human.Because he’s a strong lad, he’ll need someone who’s happy to continue his training—especially when it comes to lead walking and managing his interest in other dogs. The good news? He’s very food-motivated, which makes training a lot more fun (and effective). Buster has great recall in a secure paddock, he knows 'sit' & 'paw' and will happily show you all these tricks for treats!

Are you right for Casper? An energetic frenchie, always on the go, and rather bold, he oozes confidence and he'd like to be kept busy with enrichment toys, such as snuffle mats. Equally he'd enjoy sniffing in the garden, he loves to run around and to explore, so a secure garden would be beneficial
