Archer, a 2 years old male Unknown available for adoption from HW Animal Rescue in Herefordshire

HW Animal Rescue

Archer

Herefordshire
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedUnknown

Would you even believe it if we told you that this handsome young man arrived with us as a stray?Found in Herefordshire and not claimed, absolutely their loss we say.Archer is THE most loving and affectionate young lad, he quite literally cannot be close enough to you, if he can’t be leaning on you he has to have his paw on your foot, incredibly loyal and once he loves you he is so eager to please, he stares so lovingly into your eyes waiting for you to give him his next command.Archer knows all his basic training but with a little bit of fizz thrown in, after all he’s still just a big puppy We must mention though, on first meeting strangers he can be fearful and can bark, he shows all the signs of an under socialised pup, we are working hard with this and ensuring new people do not rush up to him and give him time and space to respect his boundaries as he’s building his confidence in new situations. It generally takes Archer a minute or two to realise that people aren’t so scary after all and after that you’ve got a friend for life Archer also shows signs of separation anxiety and we can only assume that this may be part of the reason that he found himself as a stray.Again, we are working on this with lots of positive training. We are looking for an owner/home with experience of managing separation issues, an active lifestyle and someone who can commit to further training and socialisation.A home with another friendly dog can be considered, Archer has not been tested with cats as yet.

Barbie, a Unknown old female Lurcher available for adoption from HW Animal Rescue in Herefordshire

HW Animal Rescue

Barbie

Herefordshire
SexFemale
AgeUnknown
BreedLurcher

Seeing as we already had Ken, it was only fitting that we named this little poppet Barbie!Yes we know it’s ridiculous, but that’s how we roll. Barbie is sweet and kind, super loving and affectionate, this young lady has the makings of the most wonderful companion.A little submissive but also the happiest girl who lets us know when she’s excited by giving you the biggest, toothiest smile, alongside her fabulous zoomies! Her beautiful feathery ears, tail and toes show there is some saluki in her breeding and make her even prettier Barbie has loved everyone she has met, a true social butterfly, just desperate to spread her wings.A very gentle and quiet girl who walks beautifully on a lead beside you, she does enjoy a cuddle and will stand up on you to receive maximum enjoyment, now we don’t normally encourage this but she’s just looking for reassurance.A home with another dog/s can be considered, we don’t feel she needs another dog in her home providing she has plenty of human companionship, but if there is a resident dog then another sighthound would be ideal, these beautiful breeds just seem to understand and accept each other.Any children in the home would need to be 8 years+.If you feel you can offer Barbie her forever home then we would love to hear from you!*Before anyone says it, we know pink accessories would have been the obvious colour but we didn’t have any matching that would fit her perfectly so we went for purple. ️

Bow, a 10 years old male Whippet available for adoption from HW Animal Rescue in Herefordshire

HW Animal Rescue

Bow

Herefordshire
SexMale
Age10 years
BreedWhippet

Stunning Bow is a beautiful blue in colour, he’s super excitable and nothing is done slowly or gently. We would hope that when he settles into a home environment he will calm nicely, everything is just so fun and exciting, so exciting that he doesn’t know what to do with himself.Bow is very friendly with people and would make a great adventuring companion. We are looking for a home with experience of owning similar breeds, an active lifestyle will be essential as Bow wouldn’t currently be satisfied with a sedate lifestyle and a short walk each day.A home without small pets will be required, a home with another compatible dog may be a possibility.Any children living within the home or regularly visiting would need to be 10 years+, we have no previous history for Bow and he’s like a rocket with a whippy tail.

HW Animal Rescue

Edna

Herefordshire
SexFemale
Age12 years
BreedStaffordshire Bull Terrier

This gorgeous lady may be reaching her twilight years but nothing is going to stop her, she has places to go and people to see…Edna is such a little sweetheart and is lucky enough to have been staying with her wonderful foster carers for a little while now but we would absolutely love for her to find her forever family.A pet free home will be essential as Edna is not happy with sharing her space with other animals. You would need an incredibly secure garden as Edna loves to explore.

Fraser, a 10 years old male Lurcher available for adoption from HW Animal Rescue in Herefordshire

HW Animal Rescue

Fraser

Herefordshire
SexMale
Age10 years
BreedLurcher

He may be a big strong lad but in reality he’s a big softie who gets easily frightened by new things, a sweetheart who enjoys human company.Sadly he’s not experienced much in life so everything is either very exciting or very scary.Fraser will need an active home where he can learn to socialise in the outside world.Any children within the home or regular visiting children must be 10 years+ as Fraser can be very boisterous and we have no history for him.A home without small pets will be required, a home with another kind dog may be possible but it must be a dog that is able to cope with Fraser’s over- enthusiasm at times.

Gus, a 3 years old male Dobermann available for adoption from HW Animal Rescue in Herefordshire

HW Animal Rescue

Gus

Herefordshire
SexMale
Age3 years
BreedDobermann

Handsome lad Gus has had quite an unstable background so we would love to find him his forever home where he will be loved and cherished just how he deserves! He needs stability, security and a safe home environment where he can flourish.Gus was brought into this country with cropped ears, the one didn’t take so he’s been left with one floppy ear and one that’s upright! On arrival Gus was thin and in poor condition, he’s now looking & feeling fabulous and weighs a healthy 38kg.Gus is a big strong boy, he needs a bit of time and patience to help him walk nicely to heel on lead, however he will walk well with a little help from a halti head collar. We are looking for an owner who is experienced with Dobermanns, Gus is very unique and has the quirkiest character, quite the clown!!Gus has always met new people well and is a sociable soul.We are searching for a pet free and child free home.Gus is incredibly clumsy and has no idea what size he is, he can be very enthusiastic with his affection and love so has to be reminded of his manners.Gus would make the most wonderful companion if he could be the centre of attention and have a one to one environment.

Percy, a 8 years old male German Shepherd available for adoption from HW Animal Rescue in Herefordshire

HW Animal Rescue

Percy

Herefordshire
SexMale
Age8 years
BreedGerman Shepherd

Majestic Percy is searching for his new family after arriving as a stray around Christmas time.We have been working hard to get Percy’s coat in to shape as he was very matted, this has taken some time as we have been doing small amounts to make it less stressful for him, luckily he has been very tolerant. On arrival Percy was very underweight but we are pleased to say he has been gaining weight well and after full vets checks appears to be very healthy, he certainly doesn’t act like a dog of his age. A German shepherd experienced home, with excellent knowledge of managing his coat. An owner who is active, Percy can be very strong on the lead but walks nicely if using a gentle leader or similar.Percy is a big lad and shows typical traits of a loyal and intelligent German Shepherd, he has met new people without any issues but would benefit from bonding with a special person or two.

Robyn, a 3 years old female Crossbreed available for adoption from HW Animal Rescue in Herefordshire

HW Animal Rescue

Robyn

Herefordshire
SexFemale
Age3 years
BreedCrossbreed

Like many other lurchers, pretty Robyn was left unclaimed after being found as a stray so finds herself searching for a new family to love her. ️Robyn has been a delight, super sociable and friendly but she is an excitable young lady so would need a home who can match her needs.Robyn has met other dogs without any concerns, although she is pretty full on so any other dogs in the home would need to be playful and able to put up with her zest for life, her zoomies are pretty impressive!️ Any children in the home would need to be 10 years+️ A home without cats and small furries would also be required.

Scarlett, a 3 years old female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel available for adoption from HW Animal Rescue in Herefordshire

HW Animal Rescue

Scarlett

Herefordshire
SexFemale
Age3 years
BreedCavalier King Charles Spaniel

This lovable little menace arrived with us as a stray, as expected, no one claimed her.Absolutely their loss as Scarlett is the kindest, sweetest and most affectionate little poppet you could ever wish to meet.We feel that Scarlett’s predominately Cocker but possibly a spot of Cavalier King Charles in the mix too. It’s a good job she’s so adorable as she’s quite the livewire! Clearly received no previous training so she’s a totally blank canvas in terms of manners and general life skills. Luckily though, Scarlett loves people, she’s bold and sociable but also lacks any concept of personal space and boundaries. Her zest for life is remarkable for a dog that has been neglected (Swipe for before pictures).Scarlett will need an experienced owner with buckets full of patience, this little beauty is 8kg of pure energy and excitement, we’re taking 4 kids with bellies full of blue smarties of Christmas eve!!We have started her positive training but she’s going to take time to progress, she’s a clever little button and with continued stability and routine we are sure she will thrive and prove herself to be the best little dog.It goes without saying that Scarlett will need a spaniel experienced home who can channel her energy and provide her with a mentally and physically stimulating environment. She wouldn’t be suitable for a first time dog owner or a young family.Although she’s crazy, we feel a pet home is needed. After our assessments we don’t believe a working home would be the right fit. Please note – Scarlett will not be heading off to a new home just yet but we are happy to start taking enquiries and begin the process as we have a feeling she may attract a lot of interest

Simba, a 5 years old male Greyhound available for adoption from HW Animal Rescue in Herefordshire

HW Animal Rescue

Simba

Herefordshire
SexMale
Age5 years
BreedGreyhound

Striking Simba was adopted from us and has been living within a loving family for the past few years but unfortunately due to changes within the home Simba is starting the search for his perfect PAWrents. No judgement please, his family are needing to do what’s best for his long term happiness.Simba loves playing with his toys, teddy’s & soft fluffy blankets. He isn’t a needy dog, in fact he’s very independent, 10 mins in the garden doing zoomies then he’s happy to be a lazy boy. He enjoys his walks but is most relaxed in a quieter area with not too many other dogs around where he can do his own thing. He loves an ear scratch and will come up and rub against you when he wants some fuss and attention.Simba likes to just chill and have quiet time to relax and snooze. A very settled and respectful house dog. Simba does lack confidence in certain situations and looks to his humans for reassurance, boundaries and guidance. an owner with experience of owning dogs (ideally a lurcher enthusiast) a semi-rural home environment would be best suited.

Tilly, a 10 years old female Yorkshire Terrier available for adoption from HW Animal Rescue in Herefordshire

HW Animal Rescue

Tilly

Herefordshire
SexFemale
Age10 years
BreedYorkshire Terrier

Dearest Tilly has had a really tough time of it recently, in case anybody missed our initial post about her, she arrived with us as a stray after having been found covered in blood and taken to a local vet. After being cleaned up it was discovered that she had multiple puncture wounds around her throat, neck, shoulders and legs. It is believed that poor Tilly had been attacked by another animal, most likely by a larger dog.Since then, Tilly’s recovery has been slow and very up-and-down, she has suffered severe breathing episodes and an awful cough. After having multiple x-rays and different courses of treatment we are pleased to say Tilly has finally settled and is most definitely on the road to recovery although it’s likely that she will need to stay on medication indefinitely to ensure a good quality of life.Further exploration procedures could be very detrimental to her recovery at this stage so we have decided to stick with this plan going forward. It’s been so wonderful to see the change in Tilly, she has transformed from a nervous and bruised recluse that wouldn’t leave the safety of her crate to a happy and sociable dog who is now feeling superb and wants to get out and see the world again. ️Tilly is now ready to move onto the next stage of her journey, we are ideally looking for a kind person or two that can offer Tilly a safe and stable forever home, but on a foster basis initially, this is to ensure that she remains on the right track with her recovery and medication plan. This would mean that any potential applicants would need to live locally to Herefordshire so that any veterinary care can be carried out with our vets.Tilly would also need a home without any other resident or visiting dogs, this is absolutely non-negotiable.Understandably, Tilly is now very defensive if other dogs enter her personal space, she gets very upset which then makes her cough. However, Tilly is NOT reactive to other dogs and even happily sits in the waiting room at the vets with dogs in the same room as her, she just will not tolerate them coming close to her.Tilly has not been socialised with cats whilst in our care but we do feel a pet free home with most definitely be best suited. If you feel that you can offer Tilly the loving and caring environment that she needs we would love to hear from you.

Zumi, a 10 years old male Crossbreed available for adoption from HW Animal Rescue in Herefordshire

HW Animal Rescue

Zumi

Herefordshire
SexMale
Age10 years
BreedCrossbreed

Sadly, he suffers from separation anxiety so will need a home where there’s someone around lots. In time and with training it’s possible that this can improve but will be a gradual progression. As with most lurcher breeds, Zumi can run like the wind!We are looking for an experienced lurcher owner who can continue Zumi’s training and socialisation to help him fulfil his potential. He’s an incredibly clever young man who enjoys attention and affection.A home without any other pets will be required and any children must be 10 years +.Zumi’s perfect home would be a semi-rural home where he can go on lots of lovely walks with his loving companion/s.

Herefordshire’s largely rural landscape makes it well suited to rescue dogs that thrive in quieter surroundings and consistent routines. Dogs adopted here are often matched with homes offering outdoor space, regular companionship, and a slower pace of life. Many rescues covering Herefordshire work closely with neighbouring counties due to the county’s size and population. Local adoption supports careful matching and long-term stability for dogs in need of a second chance.
