Newcastle Dogs & Cats Shelter

Arwen

Tyne and Wear
SexFemale
Age3 years
BreedStaffordshire Bull Terrier

Arwen could live with children aged 10+. She would like to be the only dog in the home, but could potentially live with cats or other small animals, although we have no history of her behaviour around such animals.Arwen is a lovely little lady who absolutely adores spending time with her humans and simply loves attention! She is full of beans and so will need an active family who can keep up with her and take her on lots of lovely adventures, keeping her both mentally and physically stimulated.Arwen has had a poor start to life, we have very little background information about her, but we do know that was previously left in a garden most of the time. Arwen has shown some signs that she may struggle when left alone and so she will need a family who are prepared for this and are able to slowly build up the amount of time she is left for.Arwen does also typically prefer to have space from other dogs and can, at times, be a little reactive. She will need a family who are confident and capable of managing this behaviour, whilst working on her training to help her learn some more appropriate responses. This sweet lady is such a pleasure to spend time with. She is so fun to be around and often has us laughing with her daft ways and her little tappy tappy toe dance as she sees you coming. She loves nothing more than human company – she is such a friendly girl – nobody is a stranger to Arwen! She would spend all day being made a fuss of and needs a family who are able to spend a lot of time with her.Despite the life Arwen has previously had, she still has so much love to give and more than deserves to finally be shown what the safety and security of a true forever home feels like, where she can be spoilt rotten and shown the love she should’ve always known from her forever family.Arwen hast had medication for an upset stomach. Whilst now resolved, this will likely be classed as a pre-existing condition and any future flare-ups unlikely to be covered by pet insurance.

More Information

Tyne and Wear’s urban environment means rescue dogs are often matched with adopters who can provide structure, training and access to green spaces. Many dogs rehomed here benefit from consistent routines and patient handling. Local rescues work to ensure dogs are comfortable with city living before adoption. Adopting locally helps support dogs transitioning successfully into busy environments.
