Pawprints Dog Rescue

Alfie is a 6-month-old blind Poodle Cross who was sadly found as a stray back in April and now available for adoption at Pawprints Dog Rescue in the Midlands Following his arrival into rescue, we discovered that Alfie has albinism and is blind. Alfie was quickly placed into one of our experienced foster homes, where he has been given the time, patience and support he needed to adjust. With the help of his wonderful foster family and canine foster sister, Alfie has grown in confidence and continues to make fantastic progress every day. Despite being blind, Alfie is a happy, affectionate puppy who loves meeting new people and happily welcomes any attention or fuss. He enjoys spending time outdoors and loves going for walks, although he does explore at his own pace. Alfie relies heavily on his sense of smell and takes time to familiarise himself with new environments, so his adopter will need to be patient and allow him to build confidence as he explores. Alfie adores his canine foster sister and has gained confidence by following their lead both in the home and on walks. For this reason, Alfie will need a home with another friendly, confident dog who can continue to provide him with guidance and companionship, as well as keep up with his cheeky puppy antics! Around the home, Alfie has done an amazing job of learning the layout of his foster home and now confidently moves between rooms independently. As expected with a blind puppy, moving into a new environment will mean starting this process again. His new family will need to give him the time and consistency to learn his surroundings and establish a new routine. Alfie is doing well with his housetraining but does still have the occasional accident indoors while he continues to learn. Alfie is looking for adopters who understand that, although he is blind, he is still very much a typical young dog who enjoys company, adventures and learning new things. He will need a patient family who are committed to helping him settle into a new home and continue building his confidence.

Are you right for Alfie?Alfie is a 5-year-old crossbreed who's ready to find his perfect match! He is an active boy who thrives on adventure, learning, and spending time with his people. He's looking for a home that can offer plenty of mental enrichment, enjoyable walks, and training to help him continue to flourish. If you're looking for a loyal companion to share an active lifestyle with, Alfie could be the one for you! Alfie can sometimes get a little overexcited, so he'd be happiest in a home with children of secondary school age or older who can enjoy his enthusiastic nature. He'd like to be the only pet in the home, giving him the chance to settle in and build a strong bond with his new family. Once he's feeling comfortable, he can enjoy socialising with other dogs out and about. He's previously been happy being left for a few hours and is housetrained, although he may need a little reminder as he adjusts to his new surroundings. Alfie can find busy roads a little overwhelming, so he'd love a home with access to quieter walking routes where he can explore and build his confidence.Is Alfie right for you?Alfie is currently being rehomed under our Homestay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Homestay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with owners to minimise the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative suitable dog.

Are you right for Atlas?Meet Atlas, a big handsome lad who is still just a youngster at 1 year old. He's arrived with us after being found a stray meaning that we don't know too much about his past. Since coming into our care he's been a little overwhelmed and can find new people a little scary. He's slowly finding his paws and is showing us what a silly and goofy boy he is! Atlas is looking for a home with upper secondary school aged children who can understand his worries and sensitive nature who can learn to read his body language and give him any time and space he might need. It's likely he has never been in a home before, so may need some support with all aspects of home life including things such as housetraining. We also recommend any time being left is gradually built up as he settles in. Atlas absolutely loves his toys and is never happier than when he's zooming around playing fetch! Atlas isn't comfortable around other dogs, and wears a muzzle while out and about on walks. He would benefit from access to quiet walking areas and secure fields where he can relax and enjoy nature. He must have access to his own secure garden with no dogs living either side and secure fencing.Is Atlas right for you?Atlas is a wonderful boy who just needs a bit of time and patience to blossom. He's super clever and is happy to show off a "sit" and "paw" for a treat or two. Being a big lad, he can be strong on the lead so will adopters who can physically handle him and feel confident continuing his training around loose lead walking.

Barbara is a 4 year old Chongquing Chinese Bulldog available for adoption through Pawprints Dog Rescue in the Midlands. She is looking for a loving home in the Midlands or further afield and would like a quieter household but would enjoy doggy companions on walks. Barbara, who recently had a great time at our annual dog show, she placed 4th in “a face only a mother could love”… but is now waiting for that mum, and or, dad to show her rosette off too. Barbara is a 4 year old Chinese Bulldog with a huge personality just waiting to show it off to a forever family. While she can be a little nervous when first meeting new people, anyone willing to give her the time and patience she needs will soon see what a truly special girl she is. Once Barbara forms a bond, her wonderful character shines through, she’s funny, sweet, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining. As we don’t know anything about Barbara’s life before coming into our care, we’re unsure whether she has lived in a home environment before. However, she absolutely loves spending time with us in the office, where she happily settles herself on a cosy bed or curls up on the sofa. She may need a little refresher with house training, so a home with a secure garden would be ideal. This would give her a safe space to continue building her confidence and help her gradually adjust to her new routine before venturing further afield. Barbara has had some worries around handling in the past, but thanks to training, understanding, and medication to help manage her arthritis, she has come on leaps and bounds. These days she really enjoys a fuss and is happy to be stroked all over by the people she trusts. Her medication will need to be long term, if interested in Barbara we will discuss her medical in more detail with you. She enjoys walking alongside other dogs and is happy to socialise out and about, but at the moment Barbara would prefer to be the only dog in her new home so she can enjoy all the attention for herself. Barbara is also a fantastic traveller and loves car journeys, especially when she can look out of the window and watch the world pass by on the way to her next adventure. Barbara is looking for a calm, adult-only home with patient adopters who will give her the time she needs to settle in. Her adopters may also need to visit the rescue several times before taking her home. In return, you’ll gain a loyal companion with a loving nature, and a personality that’s impossible not to fall in love with!!

Are you right for Bear?Bear is a handsome boy looking for a quiet home to build his confidence. He can find meeting new people difficult and finds unfamiliar dogs and people out on walks overwhelming, so would really enjoy access to quieter walking routes. Bear is a smart and motivated boy who is making great progress with his training in his foster home. Once Bear knows and trusts you, he's a wonderful companion. He loves nothing more than curling up for snuggles on the sofa after a day of playing with his favourite toys. He's a sweet, affectionate boy with lots of love to give to the people he knows. Bear settles well at home, sleeps downstairs on his own overnight, and is happy to be left for up to four hours. Bear is looking for an adult-only home in a quiet location with minimal visitors, where life is calm and predictable. He will need to be the only dog in the home so he can enjoy all the love and attention for himself.Is Bear right for you?Bear does have some ongoing medical needs and our team here at the centre would be happy to discuss these in more detail with his potential new family.

Beau is a stunning four year old crossbreed (Labrador, Weimaraner, staffy possibly) who needs a new home through no fault of her own. She is a stunning large breed girl (38kg) and adores people. She’s been around children 3+ with no issues so we would be happy to rehome her with sensible dog savvy children 3+. She has never lived with another dog and she will bark when she sees other dogs although her owners say she just wants to play so a home as an only dog or with a friendly neutered male would be suited. She isn’t suited to living with cats as she has never been around them. She is friendly with new people out and about and in her home although she can be excited and jump up for fuss. She can pull on her lead but with further training I think this would improve significantly and she is not unmanageable at all. She would suit an active home where she would get plenty of exercise. She loves her food (that would be the Lab!) and takes treats well. We are told she has good recall and loves to play ball. She travels ok and is fine to be left for reasonable periods. She is speyed and vaccinated and chipped. Forever homes can be anywhere within the UK but you will need to travel to meet them where we are based in Alcester, Warwickshire. Our adoption fee is £250.

Are you right for Benny?Our handsome little lad Benny is ready to find his paw-fect home. This cracking boy is full of potential but is looking for adopters who are able to commit to helping him with some ongoing training. He's a friendly lad, but can often get himself a little over excited leading him to mouth and jump up. He's been learning how to make better choices and with the help of some fun enrichment like snuffle mats he's able to manage his emotions a little better. It's important his new family are able to continue this positive training in his forever home. We think he could live with upper secondary aged children and as he's been a social lad here at the centre, could live with another dog following a meeting here at the centre.Is Benny right for you?Benny is a wonderful boy who is full of cheekiness and character. He'll certainly keep you on your toes and he loves nothing more than being out and about exploring, sniffing and learning new things. We don't know much about his past, so Benny will need some support with settling into a home environment. He's been making lots of progress here at the centre and has been really enjoying spending time in our training house and learning to relax and settle.

Bess is a seven year old medium sized crossbreed (looks similar to a collie) looking for an active home. Sadly her owner passed away and she’s not getting on with one of the other dogs she’s now living with. She is great with children 2 upwards and we would happily rehome her with children of that age. She is a no to cats/small furries and initially at least would be better suited as an only dog. Meets can be in Alcester or South Yorkshire

Billy is a handsome boy who is looking for a patient family able to help his confidence grow. We don’t have much history on Billy, but it seems he has not been exposed to much in the past and can become a bit over the top at times. We are working on this with him, and he is making improvements every day. Billy loves being around other dogs but is currently to be the only dog in the home due to being neutered recently, but he will share his walks with canine friends. Once you build a relationship Billy will happily enjoy some fuss and loves an ear massage! We are looking for an adult only home, so Billy has a quiet place to take himself should he feel overwhelmed. Billy would like a big cosy bed to curl up into, and a nice garden he can explore. He has so much love to give to a family and will be an amazing addition to the home. We would like a family interested to meet him a few times or have a few home visits to build his confidence so will be looking for a home close to our Rescue.

Are you right for Blue?Blue is an absolutely gorgeous boy bursting with charm and oodles of potential. He's true smarty-pants and loves to learn new things, especially when there are treats involved (and he’s definitely not picky about those!). His enthusiasm for training makes him a joy to work with and a brilliant companion for someone keen to continue his learning journey. Blue also loves playing with his favourite toys, and enjoys getting out and about and would make a wonderful partner for outdoor adventures! Blue can become overwhelmed around other dogs, and is currently looking for a home where he will be the only pet. While he isn't able to live with other dogs at present, he may benefit from continued positive socialisation once he has had time to settle and decompress in his new home. Blue is also looking for an adult-only home in a quieter area where he can enjoy a predictable routine and access to his own secure garden. Blue struggles with sharing his favourite things, so his new family will need to be committed to continuing his training and helping him build confidence through positive reinforcement. As a dog who will require regular grooming throughout his life, it's important that his new family understand that he can find grooming a little worrying and are prepared to help him feel comfortable with this over time.Is Blue right for you?Blue is affectionate, fun-loving, bright and full of potential. Are you right for Bobby?Meet Bobby, a friendly and fun loving Pointer cross who is full of energy and would thrive in a active home. He’s looking for a family who can give him plenty of exercise, including long walks, adventures and lots of time and attention. Bobby has been friendly with everyone here at the centre but is a boisterous and excitable boy so would do best in a home with upper secondary children. He has been housetrained and whilst has spent short periods alone we recommend this is gradually built up slowly as he settles in as he can feel anxious at times. Bobby can be frustrated when meeting dogs out on walks and has been working on his social skills here at the centre however he isn't ready to share his home just yet. It's important Bobby can have access to quieter areas for his walkies and would love access to a secure field where he can safely burn off his energy!Is Bobby right for you?Bobby is a real whirlwind of energy who loves to be kept busy and stay on the go! If you're looking for a new bestie who can share all your adventures, enjoy lots of long walks before returning home to have snuggles on the sofa Bobby might be just what you're looking for. His new family will need to commit to his ongoing training, but with his clever brain we're sure he'll make lots of positive progress.
