BreedDogue de Bordeaux

Are you right for Bourbon?Bourbon is a confident, excitable and very friendly 8-month-old who greets new people with a whole lot of bounce and enthusiasm! He’s a moderate-energy youngster who enjoys his physical exercise and playtime just as much as brain games and enrichment — snuffle mats are a firm favourite. As he has no history of living in a home, Bourbon will need support with housetraining and learning the basics of home life. He’ll need someone around initially to help him settle and gradually build up any leaving hours. A secure, private garden is a must so he can safely burn off energy and continue his training. Bourbon can live with children aged 16+ who are confident around large, bouncy dogs and happy to help guide him as he grows.

George, a 16 years old male Dogue de Bordeaux available for adoption from Cardiff Dogs Home in Wales

Please welcome George to our hotelGeorge is a handsome 6-year-old Dogue de Bordeaux who has recently arrived into our care. Gorgeous George came to us following neglect from his previous owner, and he is now ready to look forward to a brighter future filled with love, care and a good, healthy diet.George is a real sweetheart who just needs a little extra love and patience to help him settle into his new life. Feeding time is managed carefully for George as he is currently on a gastrointestinal diet to help maintain a healthy weight and support his digestion. George needs time to digest his meals properly, so he is fed little and often using a raised feeder. This routine works well for him and allows him to live a happy, comfortable life.George absolutely adores his walks and enjoys getting out to explore. As you might expect with his size and breed, he can be strong on the lead, especially when he finds a good scent to follow. At the moment George is receiving medication for his feet and some sore patches on his skin, but he is healing well and we are hopeful this will only be short-term treatment. He is also having eye drops applied as he suffers from mild entropion, a condition where the eyelashes grow inwards and rub against the eye. He is coping well with his treatment and the drops are helping, but we will continue to seek veterinary advice and may consider a procedure in the future if needed to give him the best quality of life.Due to his previous life, George has missed out on learning some important social skills. He can sometimes pull on the lead and may benefit from a few sessions at dog training classes to help him build confidence and learn appropriate behaviours.George can be a slightly sensitive soul and will need time and patience to adjust to his new home, but he truly has a loving and gentle temperament. At this time, we feel George would be best suited to a home where he can enjoy a calm and relaxed environment after everything he has been through. We would consider respectful children age 16+ and potentially a female canine who is of a calm nature.Knowledge of the Dogue de Bordeaux breed is essential for his rehoming, as George will need committed owners who understand the breed and are willing to meet all of his needs.George is a big, slobbery boy who is very food-motivated and full of love. He deserves the very best life and a family who will give him all the care and affection he has always deserved. With my bestie enjoying the sunCardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Meet Keanu who is desperately hoping for the second chance she truly deserves.Keanu hasn’t had the easiest start. She came into our care after being abandoned, in a neglected and poor body condition. It’s clear that life hasn’t always been kind to her, but despite everything she’s been through, Keanu’s gentle and loving nature still shines through. With plenty of care, patience, and a good diet, Keanu has slowly begun to recover. Watching her transform back into a healthy, happy girl has been incredibly special — but what she needs most now is a home where she will never be let down again.Keanu enjoys socialising with other dogs out on walks, but she would be happiest as the only dog in the home, where she can soak up all the love and attention for herself. After everything she’s been through, she truly deserves to feel like someone’s whole world. She really is a gentle giant. Keanu doesn’t quite realise just how big she is and will happily climb onto your lap, leaning into you for cuddles, fuss, and reassurance. It’s her way of showing just how much she loves being close to her people. On walks she can be strong on the lead at times, so she’ll need someone confident who can manage her strength. Someone who understands and loves big breeds would be perfect for her.More than anything, Keanu just wants a family who will promise never to give up on her and a home full of love, patience, and warmth where she can finally feel safe.If you think you could be the person to give Keanu the life she has been waiting for, please fill out the form below. Tory is sadly looking for another new home after coming into us last month we quickly found him a home however due to a number of reasons he was brought back to us so our quest restarts for a forever home!We will be looking for an experienced home to help Tory become accustom to household life, routine and boundaries, in his last home his owners initially found the settling in phase a dream until Tory began to push a few boundaries and assert his own wants above theirs which left them feeling like he needed a more experienced and capable home to get him in check whilst he is still young. On the lead Tory can walk well but he can pull and his excitement can get the better of him at times so he will need some continued lead work in his new home.In the playpen he loves a good run round, he will chase and run round with toys though it's 50/50 if he actually brings them back to you mostly preferring to gallop round with them in his mouth then drop them if a good sniff takes his fancy. He can be incredibly cuddly and affectionate but he is also a young boy with an agenda of treats, adventures, sniffs and exploring which obviously comes first and foremost!Food is definitely a way to his heart and will be the key to nailing his obedience, basic commands and manners - his sit for a gravy bone is beautiful (if you can look past the dribble!!)We have found Tory to be good with dogs, always very interested to meet them, usually pretty gentle especially if they are smaller than he is but he can get a bit carried away with a paw bop and demands to play. We know he hasn't lived with another dog before but if the right brother/sister came along he could potentially live with one in his new home.Tory is a lovely boy, he has clearly been let down in the past and needs our help to find the right home so his future is bright and he grows up to be a good boy (which we know he is!).

During that time, he didn’t have the steady routine he needed and is currently carrying more weight than is ideal. The good news? He has no known medical issues; will be vet checked and has already started a carefully managed weight-loss plan. He just needs a committed family to help him continue his journey at a slow and steady pace.At 7½ years old, he’s past the puppy chaos and is a true gentle giant. He’s calm, affectionate and happiest pottering alongside his people. He enjoys his walks, but these will need to be gradual and sensible while he builds up his fitness.
