Are you right for Callie?Callie’s a big fan of walks, so if you love to get out and about, you’re her kind of people! She’s still young, loves treats, and always up for learning, so folks who don’t mind a bit of training and dog enrichment time would be perfect. Children who are confident around big dogs could be a great match too. Callie’s not very socialised and doesn’t know much about other dogs, so she’ll need a family happy to gently introduce her to doggy friends at whatever speed feels safest for her. Callie would really love to have the home all to herself, with no other dogs.Is Callie right for you?Callie has the sweetest soul! She’s so gentle and lovely, and clever too. She’s looking for a new home due to changed circumstances for her people. Callie would love to have someone around while she settles in, time then to be built up – Callie has been left for a few hours (she’s done up to four) with no issues. She’s a real lady on the lead, only pulling occasionally on the lead when there’s something interesting to sniff. She is three years old and knows a few basic commands. She’s house trained and currently has a lovely garden to venture out into, so would love a garden in her forever home. Callie loves a big squeaky balls and soft cuddly toys. At night, she sleeps by herself downstairs in her own bed.

Please welcome George to our hotelGeorge is a handsome 6-year-old Dogue de Bordeaux who has recently arrived into our care. Gorgeous George came to us following neglect from his previous owner, and he is now ready to look forward to a brighter future filled with love, care and a good, healthy diet.George is a real sweetheart who just needs a little extra love and patience to help him settle into his new life. Feeding time is managed carefully for George as he is currently on a gastrointestinal diet to help maintain a healthy weight and support his digestion. George needs time to digest his meals properly, so he is fed little and often using a raised feeder. This routine works well for him and allows him to live a happy, comfortable life.George absolutely adores his walks and enjoys getting out to explore. As you might expect with his size and breed, he can be strong on the lead, especially when he finds a good scent to follow. At the moment George is receiving medication for his feet and some sore patches on his skin, but he is healing well and we are hopeful this will only be short-term treatment. He is also having eye drops applied as he suffers from mild entropion, a condition where the eyelashes grow inwards and rub against the eye. He is coping well with his treatment and the drops are helping, but we will continue to seek veterinary advice and may consider a procedure in the future if needed to give him the best quality of life.Due to his previous life, George has missed out on learning some important social skills. He can sometimes pull on the lead and may benefit from a few sessions at dog training classes to help him build confidence and learn appropriate behaviours.George can be a slightly sensitive soul and will need time and patience to adjust to his new home, but he truly has a loving and gentle temperament. At this time, we feel George would be best suited to a home where he can enjoy a calm and relaxed environment after everything he has been through.Knowledge of the Dogue de Bordeaux breed is essential for his rehoming, as George will need committed owners who understand the breed and are willing to meet all of his needs.George is a big, slobbery boy who is very food-motivated and full of love. He deserves the very best life and a family who will give him all the care and affection he has always deserved. With my bestie enjoying the sunCardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

BreedDogue de Bordeaux

Meet gorgeous Kevin. We believe he is a Dogue de Bordeaux cross Weimaraner and is approximately 18 months old. Kevin is another pound dog, who was a day away from being PTS (through no fault of his own.) Luckily this stunning boy was brought to Mutts' attention and we were able to save his life. During his stay at the kennels, this is what we’ve seen… Kevin so far has shown himself to be a very good boy around people, he adores the attention. He has joined us on tea-break and was so well behaved. Kevin has been introduced to one of our dogs here and was a very good boy. Kevin could potentially live with children due to his loving temperament. This beautiful young boy deserves to find a loving home to call his own.
