Badger, a 1 year old male English Springer Spaniel available for adoption from Dogs Trust in Wales

Badger

Wales
SexMale
Age1 year
BreedEnglish Springer Spaniel

Are you right for Badger?Meet our beautiful Badger, a 11 month old Crossbreed looking for his forever home. Badger is very under-socialised and under-confident, so would need an incredibly patient home to help him build his confidence up and become the best boy we know he can be. Badger needs to live with a resident dog that can show him the ropes, as he shows a lot more confidence when around other dogs. Due to his worried nature, he would need an adult only home with understanding owners that are able to give him the space that he requires. Being a young lad, he has a lot of potential but this will take time to build up in a new environment. We don't think he has been left on his own without his siblings, so this would need building up as well.Badger is one of the more anxious and fearful of his siblings, and doesn't really trust people yet, He will often run away if you try to touch him, so it is necessary that any potential adopters understand that he needs time and not to rush him.Badger gets overwhelmed in new areas, but will explore. He has also struggled a lot with restraint and formal handling in a veterinary setting due to not wanting to be handled by strangers, so has been muzzled as a precaution. Any potential adopters would need to be aware that this is a little dog that will need lots of confidence building and time to build that bond. He will soon become the amazing companion and will make his people incredibly proud. Is Badger right for you?Badger is a sweet thing who will need a quiet home where there isn't a lot of comings and goings, as he needs time to settle into a new home at his own pace. Badger is a mix of very intelligent breeds - collie, spaniel and GSD so will pick up any training very quickly once he is feeling a braver. He needs committed, understanding owners that are willing to give him the time he needs.Badger loves his food and has shown no signs of guarding - he shares very nicely with all of his siblings. He does not yet play with any toys, but we hope with confidence, he will show some interest. We really want to see Badger in his forever home, building a bond with his owners and becoming the brave boy we know he can be.

Bella

Derbyshire
SexFemale
Age4 years
BreedEnglish Springer Spaniel

Bella is a lovely Springer Spaniel who came to us for rehoming as a failed gundog – she was scared of gunshot and other bangs. She has been trained and will be a great addition to a pet home. She’s a super dog – very friendly, loving and is keen to please! She would be fine in a home with children over 5yrs. She loves people and is always excited to see visitors to the kennels – she is used to being left alone, but was in a kennel with other dogs around.Bella is fine with other dogs, and could possibly share her home with another dog – but any existing dog would need to be neutered. She’s not yet been cat tested.Bella walks well on the lead, and has good recall once she knows you. She’s a great dog with lots of potential. As she’s a Springer, she has a lot of energy and will require plenty of exercise – she would be a great walking companion. She loves to retrieve. As Bella has lived in a kennel (both with us, and in her previous home) she wont be house trained, so this will need working on once she is in the home.

BreedCocker Spaniel X English Springer Spaniel

Meet Buster: An Energetic Soul Ready for His Next ChapterBuster is a resilient, affectionate boy who is looking for a fresh start. After a difficult past where his needs weren't met, he has spent time recovering and is now a happy, healthy lad ready to find a family who can keep up with his wagging tail and bright mind.Buster is the definition of "joie de vivre." He is an energetic, busy boy who thrives on activity and engagement. While he can be a little sensitive and nervous around new people—particularly men and younger children—his confidence is growing every day. Once he knows you, he is a loyal companion who truly loves being around people.Buster is looking for an experienced home familiar with the quirks and energy levels of "busy" breeds like Spaniels.Family: Best suited for a household with secondary school-aged children or adults only.Solo Star: Buster is friendly with dogs on walks but prefers his own space at home. He needs to be the only dog in the household. The Garden: A private, enclosed garden is a must. Since his recall is still a work in progress, he needs a secure space to zoom around and play safely off-lead.Buster is a "work in progress" with huge potential! He is looking for owners who enjoy the training process.Lead Work: He can be a bit of a "puller" when excited, but he’s a dream in open spaces where he can use his nose to explore.Relaxation: Because he gets very excited (especially by tennis balls!), he needs a family who can teach him the "off switch" and help him learn to play and settle calmly.Home Life: He was previously house-trained but may need a quick refresher. He prefers company and would like a home where someone is around most of the time, as he can get a bit anxious when left alone.Buster is feeling much better than when he first arrived, but his handsome coat needs upkeep.Grooming: He requires regular brushing of his ears and "feathers" to stay tangle-free.Confidence: He can be a little unsure during grooming, so a calm, patient hand is needed to keep building his trust.Travel: He is a fantastic traveller! He happily jumps in and out of the car, making him the perfect partner for road trip adventures.Buster's Note: "I’ve had a bumpy start, but I have so much love to give. If you have a tennis ball and a bit of patience, I promise to be the best friend you've ever had."

Charlie, a 7 years old female Cocker Spaniel X English Springer Spaniel available for adoption from Mutts in Distress in Essex

Mutts in Distress

Charlie

Essex
SexFemale
Age7 years
BreedCocker Spaniel X English Springer Spaniel

This is Charlie. We’ve been taking the time to assess him, so we could be certain on the type of home he requires. Charlie is a Cocker spaniel (possibly crossed with a springer), he is 7 years old. Charlie is looking for an experienced handler, ideally someone who understands the breed/s. Spaniels are working dogs and most need an outlet to keep them happy in life - Charlie is no exception. Charlie is toy/ food motivated and is a very quick learner. He really enjoys activities that get his brain working - he would not be happy with just a walk round the block. Charlie will need structure in the house - no sleeping on the sofa or on human beds. He has had negative experiences in his first home which means he becomes worried when people come close to his face (A child use to hold him by his ears so she could kiss him). We would recommend crating him at night. Here at the kennels, he is truly a lovely dog. We don’t pressure him or overwhelm him with affection/ fusses (don’t get me wrong, he does love a good fuss!). No children. Can live with other dogs. Has lived with a cat - no issue.

Charlie is a handsome 5yrs old Springer, who is now enjoying the attention he receives in our “Springer School” but also looking forward to his graduation It wasn’t that way for the poor lad when he arrived, he seemed shocked to find himself in kennels and just sat in his bed and quivered. But with patient handling, once out and about, we discovered he likes to try and please.Charlie can now leave the past behind and face a brighter future. With patience and understanding Charlie has learnt that keeping toys to himself is not much fun as the result is the game ends. He enjoys lots of paw giving, high 5’s, nose touches and chin rests, which have built his confidence in human touch.Charlie adores swimming at every opportunity. He likes to play hide and seek in the woods keeping a sharp eye on his handler, as he doesn’t want to lose him. When out and about he is a gregarious chap and is happy to say hello to other dogs politely. Our dog walker sums him up as follows – “Such an absolute heart melter ”This friendly boy is looking for a home to give him stability, with either a single person or a couple, with no other pets. Owners who are prepared to commit to furthering Charlie’s development, building on what he has learnt. In return you will gain many years of enjoyment with a dog who deserves the best. He forms strong bonds with his people and is happiest right by your side – whether that’s following you around the house or curling up for a cuddle on the sofa (personal space doesn’t exist in Gunner’s world!).He’s also a clever boy who is already picking up basic commands and is very motivated by food and toys, making further training both fun and rewarding. When he gets excited, he can be a little jumpy (think coiled spring), this is something that has come on leaps and bounds and will continue to improve with guidance and consistency.Home Life: Gunner is house trained, although he can still have the occasional “excited pee/ puppy sprinkles” (easy to manage once you know his triggers). He settles well into a routine and is happy to sleep in his crate at night, currently in the bedroom. Given the chance, he would very happily upgrade himself to the bed!He can be left alone for short periods and is comfortable in his crate. Gunner currently enjoys three walks a day and has lots of energy, though due to his past he is best suited to shorter, more frequent walks rather than long distances. On the lead, he can be enthusiastic and may pull as he’s keen to explore, so he will benefit from ongoing, gentle training. He hasn’t been walked off lead yet, so this will need to be introduced gradually over time. He travels well in the car, although he can be a little nervous, and may also be slightly unsure at the vet initially but settles quickly.Getting Along With Others: Gunner is great with people and enjoys meeting new faces. He’s generally good with other dogs, although he can be a little nervous around larger dogs and a bit bouncy when greeting, so calm introductions will help him build confidence. He is currently living with a dog-savvy cat and shows curiosity more than anything else. He will sniff and engage, but respects boundaries when corrected.Gunner is good with older children, however due to his excitable and jumpy nature, he would not be suited to a home with younger children.Health Issues: Gunner has had a difficult start in life, he came into foster in June 2025, at the age of 7 months. He has since undergone four surgeries for a leg condition (HIF). Despite this, he has shown incredible resilience and now has full mobility – he truly is a little fighter with a huge heart. Due to his condition, frequent shorter walks are recommended, rather than long, arduous hill climbs.Home Needs: He would thrive in a calm, loving home with a patient owner who can continue his training and help build his confidence. A home with minimal or no stairs would be ideal, along with older children only, and preferably the only dog.Gunner is a very special boy who will give so much love to the right home. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with a big personality and an inspiring story, Gunner could be your perfect match.Ongoing support: Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog. Are you right for Harlow? If Harlow could speak she would say 'Please throw my ball!'. Harlow forgets her age when a tennis ball is involved and loves nothing more than a good game of fetch! Harlow came into our care with very limited background but has since come out of her shell out in foster. She still has a worried nature but she has been coming on leaps and bounds - literally! She bonds quickly to her people and would enjoy having her own garden to help build up her confidence plus its the best place to play fetch! Harlow's foster carer would tell you she is a kind soul who loves company, chilling in the garden, and playing with her football! Harlow is looking for a quiet household and could live with older secondary school aged children. AWE licence number 13090 by West Lothian Council. Is Harlow right for you?Harlow's 'Day in the Life' written by her foster carer - "Cuddles start first thing when she realises I'm awake and then we head for her first walk. She gets a couple of treats when we come back then has breakfast at 8:30a.m. She loves to be outside in the garden and she's totally football mad. She follows me everywhere when I'm working away in the garden, wondering what I'm up to. She gets a few tummy rubs which she adores. Her second walk is in the early afternoon. She then more or less stays out in the garden if the weather is fine but always comes to be with me anytime I go outside. She then has dinner at 4:30p.m, relaxes a little then its time for another game of football or fetch! Her third walk is in the early evening then she's usually in the house having a well deserved snooze but likes to follow me if I leave the room. . She then has a few treats and is happy to go to her bed for the night."

Five year old Jett isn’t just a handsome boy, he’s also one of the brightest students in NWESSR’s Springer School, where he is doing just great!Jett’s currently transforming from city boy to country gentleman! Before coming into our care, he lived in London. The lack of green spaces for proper walks wasn’t ideal, and then to make matters worse, a family member moved out, and consequently his owner struggled to give him the exercise and attention a Springer needs. Boredom and frustration affected Jett’s demeanour, so sensitive handling would not go amiss.Jett is a real clever lad, and has learnt voice commands and hand signals. During his time in “Springer School”, his training has continued and he is happy to play with balls and toys with no sign of resource guarding around toys or food. When out walking on the lead he is excited at first but calms down. Off lead he enjoys a ball, loves to run around and have fun, and has demonstrated a good recall.Jett needs to have a routine and consistency, important to make him feel secure and safe. He needs a home where the owners have time to continue with his training and provide fun exercise opportunities. After living in the smoke, he will flourish with access to the countryside. If you think you can give Jett a loving home, please visit on the button to find out more about the and complete an online form application.Or you can :and one of our team will provide more information about our .

Jim is a lively boy as you would expect at the age of two years. In his short life so far, he has had a few ups and downs, which this lovely boy has had to cope with and NWESSR thinks he needs a break. We would very much like his new home to be his forever home, as we think he deserves it.Jim had the rug pulled out from under him, when his first owner passed away suddenly, and he found himself in a foster, while a new home was found for him. He has been in his present home for eight months. He lives with his owners, a 13-year-old and a younger resident Pointer. Unfortunately, the relationship with the Pointer has suddenly deteriorated due to a little bit of jealousy and the owner doesn’t think it fair to either dog to keep them together.Jim likes to form a close bond, and is described as having a loving nature. He is generally a pleasure to walk, and has good recall with his owners. He loves to be off lead and is usually fine with other dogs, although tends to be a bit nervous if he doesn’t know them. His favourite things are his toys and playing in water, he enjoys being outside and having lots of fun. He will need a dog and cat free home.Jim will need new owners who will continue to work on the training he is learning.
