BreedMastiff

Arnie is a lovely big friendly boy of around 40kg. He loves a fuss and everyone he's met. Fine with kids, joggers, cars, bikes, loud noises, coffee shops etc. He's very easy in the home and sleeps quietly downstairs all night. He's generally fine with other dogs but seems to prefer females. He enjoys his food and treats and hasn't shown any signs of allergies or food intolerance. He can be quite strong on the lead at the start of a walk but loves his play time with toys in the paddock and soon calms down after a run. Knows all basic commands.Arnie would be best suited with older teenage children as he is a big boy and doesn't realise his size. No cats or small furries.

BreedMastiff

Are you right for Atlas?Meet Atlas, a big handsome lad who is still just a youngster at 1 year old. He's arrived with us after being found a stray meaning that we don't know too much about his past. Since coming into our care he's been a little overwhelmed and can find new people a little scary. He's slowly finding his paws and is showing us what a silly and goofy boy he is! Atlas is looking for a home with children 14+ who can understand his worries and sensitive nature who can learn to read his body language and give him any time and space he might need. It's likely he has never been in a home before, so may need some support with all aspects of home life including things such as housetraining. We also recommend any time being left is gradually built up as he settles in. Atlas absolutely loves his toys and is never happier than when he's zooming around playing fetch! Atlas isn't comfortable around other dogs, and is learning to wear a muzzle while out and about on walks, and will need access to quiet walking areas and secure fields where he can relax and enjoy nature. He must have access to his own secure garden with no dogs living either side and secure fencing. Is Atlas right for you?Atlas is a wonderful boy who just needs a bit of time and patience to blossom. He's super clever and is happy to show off a "sit" and "paw" for a treat or two. Being a big lad, he can be strong on the lead so will adopters who can physically handle him and feel confident continuing his training around loose lead walking.

My name is Bandit and I am 7 year old Boxer x Bullmastiff. I found myself on death row in a pound due to being an unclaimed stray.. most likely dumped by my previous owner.I do have elbow dysplasia which is controlled well with medication.I am a big strong boy who thinks he can sit on your lap like a chihuahua! I love a bum scratch and am always perfect patient at the vets.I love to be loved and have lots of love to give my new family!!I have no experience with children and am looking for an adult only home without visiting children.I cannot live with cats or small furries!I get on well with some dogs but not all, and so will need a home as the only dog.I walk well on the lead during my walks but am very strong initially or when excited so will need a fit and strong person to walk me. I can't do marathons but a couple of ½ hour walks a day would suit me well.I am looking for a quiet home with calm adults who enjoy a brindle snuggle buddy!

Basil

Cumbria

Age2 years
BreedMastiff

I would like my family to be around most of the time.I could live with older children.I could live with another calm dog if introductions went well.Basil is a young, enthusiastic Mastiff cross who’s still finding his paws in the world. At just over a year old, he’s full of playful energy and has a lot of love to give but he can find being on his own a little overwhelming at times. He’s looking for a home where someone is around most of the time to help him build confidence and learn that independence can be a positive experience. Basil would benefit from continued training and routine to help guide him through his teenage phase — he’s still very puppy-like in many ways!Basil may be able to live with another well-matched dog of similar size, pending successful introductions, and could live with older, dog-savvy children (secondary school age and up).Ideally, his new owner will have experience with large breeds or be confident in handling bigger dogs. With time, consistency, and plenty of positive encouragement, Basil will make a brilliant companion. If you’re ready for a bouncy best friend with bags of potential, Basil might be just the one for you.**Basil currently weighs 41.2kg**

Baxter, a 2 years old male Mastiff available for adoption from Dogs Trust in Merseyside

Baxter

Merseyside
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedMastiff

Are you right for Baxter?Baxter is looking for a home where any children are over 16 and he can be the only pet. His family will need to be committed to ongoing training to work on his impulse control and social skills. Baxter is fully house trained but may need a refresher, and he does enjoy some solo time although that may have to be built up gradually whilst he settles in.Is Baxter right for you? With ears that point any which way but up, Baxter is one of the most recognisable and daftest dogs at our Merseyside centre! He’s three years old and full of potential, he just needs his hero to come and meet him. His needs are quite particular, but you’ll be rewarded with a lifetime of love and devotion and are absolutely guaranteed some laughs along the way. Baxter is incredibly intelligent and is a very cuddly boy once he's settled with you. He adores his training sessions with his best pal Rachel, and has made great progress, learning to manage his daft lad impulses! He walks beautifully on his lead and enjoys the company of other dogs, but he is way too physical in play to be off lead with them, and as he’s such a powerful dog we have to be careful he doesn’t get too giddy and accidentally upset someone! He loves to play with his toys and has learnt to settle happily by himself, quite content with his own company. Baxter has worked so very hard to become the wonderful friend he is and this has helped us formulate training plans for him in the home. He is such a loving and lovable dog and deserves to find his own family, they just need to be robust and up for some training!

Introducing big and beautiful Bruno!Bruno is a 10 month old mastiff cross, who was brought into our care as a fake stray.Upon arrival Bruno was sadly very confused and frightened of his surroundings, at such a young age no dog should be that worried and it is clear he hasn’t had much socialisation or exposure to different people.Bruno is a very large boy at only ten months old and he will need a strong and confident large breed savvy handler whilst he works on his leash walking skills and general confidence. Since being in our care Bruno’s confidence has flourished, he has met many new people and is slowly getting more confident with first meets.Once Bruno has gained your trust , the love is never ending! He is a big softy that loves a fuss and will play until he can play no more- tug toys and stuffed teddies are his absolute favourite .Bruno unfortunately resource guards his food bowl, he is working hard on this with our behaviour team and is already showing great improvements. His new pawrents will have to manage this in the home whilst continuing the work with positive reinforcement to help him feel safer around this. His new house will need to be big enough to be able to manage this properly whilst it’s being worked on.Bruno is looking for an adult only, pet free home so that he can settle back into daily life out of kennels. He is only young and such a smart lad with so much potential, with the work put in he should flourish into a wonderful adult dog.Once Bruno has worked on himself he wiuld love to make some canine friends in future.Cardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team
