BreedMastiff

Are you right for Ada?Ada is a beautiful 9-month-old Spanish Mastiff cross who is now ready to find her forever family. She’s a sweet-natured girl, but she can sometimes feel a little overwhelmed, so she’s looking for a calm home with children aged 14+ who can give her space when she needs time to relax and settle. As a young dog still figuring out the world, Ada can occasionally become boisterous and mouthy, so she’ll need confident owners who can continue her training and help her learn the right behaviours to manage her big feelings.Enrichment and food-based activities are a huge hit with Ada, and these will be invaluable tools for teaching her calming, settling behaviours. She has previously been housetrained, though she may need a refresher as she transitions back into home life. Ada hasn’t had much experience being left alone, so any time spent solo will need to be built up slowly. While she enjoys playing with other dogs, she would prefer to be the only pet in her new home so she can soak up all the attention for herself.

Alfie, a 5 years old male Mastiff available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

BreedMastiff

Gentle, sweet Alfie is a 2.5 yr old Mastiff cross and is such a special boy. He has been an absolute dream since arriving with us from a stray kennels – everyone who meets him instantly falls in love with him. He is so soft, a little shy at first and just wants to be close to someone – he melts into you for a cuddle. Alfie is very easy on the lead and just plods along walking very nicely on slack leads. He has been fine around other dogs and could potentially live with a friendly neutered female dog. He is not cat tested. Alfie is now clean in his kennel, he is non destructive and loves to snuggle up in his bed. He also travels well. He really is a star. Alfie arrived with us very underweight, but has gained 5kg already and looks much better – he still has a little way to go but he LOVES his food so we are having to be careful to not overfeed! His health check at our vets was all fine with no concerns. Size wise, he is currently 35kg, and should be nearer 40kg, so he is a large breed, but not a huge boy – we think he’s a perfect size! Alfie is just amazing and couldn’t be more deserving of finding a loving forever home.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER ALFIE HIS FOREVER HOME **

Arnie, a 5 years old male Mastiff available for adoption from Heathlands Animal Sanctuary in Hertfordshire

BreedMastiff

Arnie is a lovely big friendly boy of around 40kg. He loves a fuss and everyone he's met. Fine with kids, joggers, cars, bikes, loud noises, coffee shops etc. He's very easy in the home and sleeps quietly downstairs all night. He's generally fine with other dogs but seems to prefer females. He enjoys his food and treats and hasn't shown any signs of allergies or food intolerance. He can be quite strong on the lead at the start of a walk but loves his play time with toys in the paddock and soon calms down after a run. Knows all basic commands.Arnie would be best suited with older teenage children as he is a big boy and doesn't realise his size. No cats or small furries.

BreedMastiff

Are you right for Atlas?Meet Atlas, a big handsome lad who is still just a youngster at 1 year old. He's arrived with us after being found a stray meaning that we don't know too much about his past. Since coming into our care he's been a little overwhelmed and can find new people a little scary. He's slowly finding his paws and is showing us what a silly and goofy boy he is! Atlas is looking for a home with children 14+ who can understand his worries and sensitive nature who can learn to read his body language and give him any time and space he might need. It's likely he has never been in a home before, so may need some support with all aspects of home life including things such as housetraining. We also recommend any time being left is gradually built up as he settles in. Atlas absolutely loves his toys and is never happier than when he's zooming around playing fetch! Atlas isn't comfortable around other dogs, and is learning to wear a muzzle while out and about on walks, and will need access to quiet walking areas and secure fields where he can relax and enjoy nature. He must have access to his own secure garden with no dogs living either side and secure fencing.

Axel, a 4 years old male Mastiff available for adoption from JLP Trust Animal Rescue in Warwickshire

JLP Trust Animal Rescue

Axel

Warwickshire
SexMale
Age4 years
BreedMastiff

Axel is a lovely 4 year old Mastiff. Axel currently lives with his wonderful family, who he has lived with since being a puppy. They’ve unfortunately had a change in circumstances, and Axel now needs a new forever home. He has lived with children since being a puppy, but he can be nervous of new people so we feel a sensible, experienced adult only home would be best for him. We are confident that with time and sensible introductions he would be happy around new children as he’s very loving and playful with the ones he knows and trusts. Axel hasn’t ever lived with another dog but he does love playing with another family member’s dog, and he’s been doing really well meeting new four legged friends recently and has even been enjoying off lead time with them so we feel with a number of sensible introductions he could live with another dog. He’s never been around cats so can’t be rehomed with them. Although he is a strong lad he walks very well on the lead, isn’t phased by busy roads, he’s far more interested in sniffing but he does need someone who is physically able to handle his size and strength. Meets will be in South Yorkshire

BreedBulldog x Mastiff

My name is Bandit and I am 7 year old Boxer x Bullmastiff. I found myself on death row in a pound due to being an unclaimed stray.. most likely dumped by my previous owner.I do have elbow dysplasia which is controlled well with medication.I am a big strong boy who thinks he can sit on your lap like a chihuahua! I love a bum scratch and am always perfect patient at the vets.I love to be loved and have lots of love to give my new family!!I have no experience with children and am looking for an adult only home without visiting children.I cannot live with cats or small furries!I get on well with some dogs but not all, and so will need a home as the only dog.I walk well on the lead during my walks but am very strong initially or when excited so will need a fit and strong person to walk me. I can't do marathons but a couple of ½ hour walks a day would suit me well.I am looking for a quiet home with calm adults who enjoy a brindle snuggle buddy!

I would like my family to be around most of the time.I could live with older children.I could live with another calm dog if introductions went well.Basil is a young, enthusiastic Mastiff cross who’s still finding his paws in the world. At just over a year old, he’s full of playful energy and has a lot of love to give but he can find being on his own a little overwhelming at times. He’s looking for a home where someone is around most of the time to help him build confidence and learn that independence can be a positive experience. Basil would benefit from continued training and routine to help guide him through his teenage phase — he’s still very puppy-like in many ways!Basil may be able to live with another well-matched dog of similar size, pending successful introductions, and could live with older, dog-savvy children (secondary school age and up).Ideally, his new owner will have experience with large breeds or be confident in handling bigger dogs. With time, consistency, and plenty of positive encouragement, Basil will make a brilliant companion. If you’re ready for a bouncy best friend with bags of potential, Basil might be just the one for you.**Basil currently weighs 41.2kg**

Big Bruno

Wales
SexMale
Age10 months
BreedMastiff

Introducing big and beautiful Bruno!Bruno is a 10 month old mastiff cross, who was brought into our care as a fake stray.Upon arrival Bruno was sadly very confused and frightened of his surroundings, at such a young age no dog should be that worried and it is clear he hasn’t had much socialisation or exposure to different people.Bruno is a very large boy at only ten months old and he will need a strong and confident large breed savvy handler whilst he works on his leash walking skills and general confidence. Since being in our care Bruno’s confidence has flourished, he has met many new people and is slowly getting more confident with first meets.Once Bruno has gained your trust , the love is never ending! He is a big softy that loves a fuss and will play until he can play no more- tug toys and stuffed teddies are his absolute favourite .Bruno unfortunately resource guards his food bowl, he is working hard on this with our behaviour team and is already showing great improvements. His new pawrents will have to manage this in the home whilst continuing the work with positive reinforcement to help him feel safer around this. His new house will need to be big enough to be able to manage this properly whilst it’s being worked on.Bruno is looking for an adult only, pet free home so that he can settle back into daily life out of kennels. He is only young and such a smart lad with so much potential, with the work put in he should flourish into a wonderful adult dog.Once Bruno has worked on himself he wiuld love to make some canine friends in future.Cardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team

Charles, a Unknown old male Mastiff available for adoption from Celandine Wood in Wales

Celandine Wood

Charles

Wales
SexMale
AgeUnknown
BreedMastiff

Charles has been very well behaved with us and is extremely friendly with everyone he meets – his tail wags and wags and he gets so excited. He has been good with dogs whilst in our care too although this has not been tested in a home environment (we will not put him in a home with another male bull breed). Charles has come to us from a vets practice after being an unclaimed stray. He wasn’t microchipped and no one came forward for him. He was completely emaciated and wasn’t doing well at all, but thanks to the vets he soon fattened up and is now thriving. He is now in full health with no health concerns. He needs an owner who is committed and able to put time and effort into training. He is very boisterous and has clearly never been set any boundaries or shown manners. However, with consistent training he has incredible potential and will be a fantastic dog. Charles is currently in a foster home on the Wirral
