Mutts in Distress

Meet Bear a beautiful crossbreed (said to be Rottweiler x Akita). He is only a baby at 9 months old and has had a really horrific start to his short life. Bear came to Mutts after being abandoned in a flat. He was left alone in this flat for several months with someone feeding him through a letter box, surrounded by his own faeces and urine. Despite going through this, he has been totally forgiving of people. He is happy to have attention from the volunteers and even came out on our very busy funday event to greet strangers in the crowd. Bear would enjoy a dog free home. Not cat tested. He could possibly live with older teenagers who are used to larger breeds. Large breed experience is best preferred for Bear. There must be someone out there able to give this beautiful boy the home he deserves and to show him love. He will make an amazing companion for someone.

Bella is a beautiful girl looking for a new chance in life! Bella came into our care due to no fault of her own, and has been a brilliant girl since. She has been out of the centre and she passes people and dogs while out on a walk, but still reacts a couple of times. This is something we are still working on with her, as we believe she is very frustrated for being on the lead and restrained. She tends to have a bigger reaction to smaller breeds walking by, and barks a couple of times. For that reason, we think Bella is best suited as an only pet to a home with her own secure garden. Bella will need a few meets from possible adopters as she can be wary of new people coming into her space. After she is comfortable, she is a very sweet dog and also very smart! Bella is doing amazing with some of her basic training, and picks up things in no time. Bella LOVES a big comfy bed and we believe she would love a huge bed to lounge about in her new home! Bella is a people forward dog, and she will be a brilliant addition to a household that has had Rotties before. Are you right for Branston? Meet Branston, the happiest boy with the goofiest grin, he is a 3 year old Rottweiler with a heart as big as his boundless energy. His idea of a perfect day? Playing with his toys and snuggling with his favourite humans. Cuddles are his absolute thing; he’ll happily plop his head in your lap, and if you let him, he might even try to sit on you for some top-tier sofa snuggle time! Playtime is where he shines, whether he’s messing around by himself or getting his humans involved. If you’ve got big, sturdy toys, even better, because the soft ones don't stand a chance with him. When it comes to treats, Branston will take whatever you’ve got (he’s not picky at all), and he gently accepts them, usually leaving a tiny bit of slobber as a thank you gift. This cuddle bug is on the lookout for his new home. Is Branston right for you? Branston is looking for a calm and loving home, with an active family who can take him on lots of exploring, sniffy adventures in quiet walking areas, a family who can give him all the love and attention he deserves. He is looking for an adult only home, with pawrents who will advocate for him when out and about and give him space to rest when needed. Branston likes to relax and enjoy all of his family’s attention to himself, so is looking to be the only pet in the home. He finds being around others dogs very worrying, so would like to take walks in quieter areas, where he can explore and enjoy his walks without distraction. He is a super clever guy and is eager to show off his impressive repertoire of tricks and skills, he already knows “sit”, “paw”, “settle”, “chin rest” to name just a few, he is also fully muzzle trained as he will be going home with a lead and muzzle disclaimer. Branston is looking for his own private, secure garden so he can have some off lead time, playing and pottering at his leisure. Branston can settle nicely alone, so could be left for up to 4 hours, any leaving time should be built up gradually once he has had time to settle into his new home. Branston will need to meet his adopters multiple times prior to going home with potential home visits to make sure he is settling in well so please bear this in mind when applying. Please note that should you be shortlisted, our rehoming process usually takes up to 7 days, and potential adopters would be required to come to the centre to meet him within 48hrs of being shortlisted.

Are you right for Cash? Cash is a 1 year 7 month old Rottweiler with a sweet but sensitive nature, looking for a calm, understanding adult-only home. He can be a little unsure with handling, particularly around his head and neck, and may come across as hand shy at first, so he’ll need patient adopters who are willing to build trust at his pace. Cash enjoys his walks and loves the freedom of running off lead in secure areas, and would thrive with a private garden where he can relax and play. While he can walk alongside calmer dog companions, he would prefer to be the only pet in the home, as he can become overexcited and struggles to read other dogs’ behaviours. He is friendly when meeting new people, but introductions should be slow and on his terms to help him feel safe and confident. Cash has mild hip dysplasia which is not currently requiring any treatment. Our Rehoming Centre team will be happy to discuss this in more detail with potential adopters. Is Cash right for you? Cash could be a wonderful companion for someone willing to invest time, patience, and understanding into helping him grow in confidence. He has a moderate energy level and enjoys exploring new places, making him a great match for adopters who like gentle adventures. Cash can be vocal when left alone, so any time apart will need to be built up gradually to help him settle. In the right home, with consistent guidance and a secure, loving environment, Cash has so much potential to flourish and become a loyal, affectionate best friend.

Adorable Cece came to us due to her owner’s ill health. Poor Cece has been with us for a few months now but has sadly not found the right home. Although she can be a little hesitant to meet new people, she is an absolute love bug once she knows you. Cece generally walks well on a lead but can be strong if she does decide to pull or if she’s feeling stubborn. She has started to be stand offish towards strangers when on walks as she feels like she needs to protect her owner and can get too carried away with play where she can jump up and mouth so she does need someone who will set boundaries from the start. Ideally, Cece is looking for a home with someone with experience of the breed. We will home her with children over the age of 15 years old. She would prefer to be the only pet in the home although she has been ok with visiting dogs with her previous owners. She also doesn’t like cats. Cece is possessive of her food and toys with dogs. She’s a big girl (approx 45kg!) who can sometimes be a bit boisterous. She loves to play and enjoys having a fuss. Sweet Cece will make a loving and loyal pet, she just needs someone to give her a chance to decompress and settle in

Are you right for Conan? Meet our big, handsome boy Conan! He has come into our care through no fault of his own, after spending most of his life in a loving home. Conan is housetrained, though he may need a little refresher as he settles back into home life. This gorgeous lad has been an absolute joy to look after. He adores spending time with his carers especially if there’s a good bum scratch involved! Conan is searching for a home with children aged 14+ who are confident around large, bouncy dogs. Conan would like to be the only dog in his new home, where he can gradually work on his social skills out and about. He’s already a pro at wearing his muzzle and is happy to wear it out and about on his walkies in busy areas, however he doesn't need to wear it all the time. Conan will need his own secure garden to run around and play in. Being left alone can make Conan feel unsettled, so he would love a home where he has company for most of the day. Once he’s comfortable, his time alone should be built up gradually and with positive guidance to help him feel settled and comfortable. Conan loves nothing more than playing with toys and enjoys playing raggy. He's always up for a game of catch or fetch, but soft toys don't often last long when Conan is around! He loves to learn new things and show off some things he already knows for a treat or two. This clever boy is very food motivated which we're sure will aid in teaching him all he needs to know. He can be energetic and playful but also defensive towards reactive dogs. Davey has been gentle with visiting children. He has lived alongside caged rabbits and gerbils. Ella is a 3 month old Rottweiler X looking for a fairly active family with an interest in training that can give her the consistency and time she needs to thrive in her new home. She has the potential to live with a dog pending successful meets at the centre. She can be exciteable so any existing dog would need to be a good match for her playstyle or very tolerant of a bouncy pup. Ella requires ongoing training and has previously shown some frustration related responses to handling so would be best suited to a home where any children are aged 16 and older. Ella will need her own private, secure garden for her to continue her training with her new family and have space to explore and play. Due to her age, Ella will need someone home with her most of the time initially and any leaving hours will need to be built up gradually. Is Ella right for you? Ella is a beautiful pup who has not had much consistency so far in her little life. She has progressed well with her training at the centre and has so much potential for a home willing to support her and continue her training in her new home.

Beautiful lady Holly is looking for her forever person.Holly is a super soft lady, she is very nervous in new situations but she loves any interaction from people and being made a fuss of.She lives very rural with not a lot of interaction from anything. She is generally not walked as she has acres of ground to run around in. We feel she may need to go into this type of environment again as she may find built up areas too overwhelming.Holly hasn’t had much experience with being walked and this is something she will need to work on, any new adopter would have to be prepared to be patient and kind to help her build her confidence in these new situations.She is very boisterous and can jump up. Are you right for Hudson? Hudson is a 3-year-old Rottweiler searching for his forever home with patient, caring adults. He would need to be the only pet in the household, as he can be wary of both strangers and other dogs. Once Hudson gets to know you, however, he is a very affectionate and cuddly boy who forms strong bonds with his people. Hudson would thrive in a quiet home environment, ideally in a location where he won’t regularly encounter lots of people or animals on his walks. He is muzzle trained and will need to wear a muzzle and remain on a lead while out in public. Our training and behaviour team will provide plenty of support, advice, and guidance throughout the adoption process. Several visits to the centre will be required so Hudson can get to know his potential adopters, and home visits will also be part of the process before adoption can be finalised. Once settled, Hudson can be left alone for up to four hours, although this will need to be built up gradually. He would also benefit from access to a secure, private outdoor space where he can relax and explore. Hudson does have some ongoing medical needs, which will be discussed in detail with prospective adopters. Is Hudson right for you? This lovely boy chews a treat calmly, he loves his food and is not fussy about what he has which is great for ongoing training and building friendship. He travels well in a car and would outdoor adventures giving him the chance to explore. When Hudson knows you his cheeky fun personality shines, he will make a lovely addition to any home. Potential adopters need to have experience of the breed and the capacity to continue training. Handsome Hudson is a big bouncy guy that needs a lot of love, patience and understanding to be the best Rottie he can be.

Jet is a 2 year old Chow. He loves to run and play and has typical Chow traits. He is a friendly boy despite being poorly treated in the past. He is dog friendly and has lived with a female dog previously and could do so again after intros at rescue. No cats or children under 16.
