Barney

East Sussex
SexMale
Age4 years
BreedSoft Coated Wheaten Terrier

Barney originally came from another rescue who could not provide him with what he needed. He has then spent the last few months in a sanctuary set up where he has blossomed and done really well. He is now ready to find a new home.Barney is a clever and extremely affectionate boy. He greets everyone with joy and will happily sit on the lap of anyone or go for a walk with anyone. Barney walks quite well on the lead and on a long line. He is a terrier so he doesn’t go off lead out and about but goes off in secure fields/areas and when there’s no distractions his recall is good.Barney is clean in his kennel once he knows his routine. He is completely not destructive and can be left for a few hours without making a noise or any issue providing the environment is relatively calm.He is a busy little terrier, likes a scent but also enjoys home comforts so he would benefit from an active home but he still wants to be a pet. He has no food or toy reactivity, although he likes both he’s not possessive even over high value items.Barney is anxious of other dogs so can appear reactive if he’s worried and doesn’t like dogs in his face but he copes well with dogs that ignore him. He finds dogs overwhelming unless he knows they are ok.Barney has visited pubs and cafes, where he was great but he will bark at other dogs he sees pass through a window but that only appears to be in these situations. We think he would definitely improve on these things with a little more practice and guidance.Barney has several walkers and has met lots of people and we’ve never seen a negative reaction to any. Very young kids might be overstimulating for him but he may be able to live with older, terrier savvy children. He’s a really sweet boy, just needs that active ‘terrier’ family, he will walk and walk and walk. He’s a really endearing dogΔ document.getElementById( "ak_js_1" ).setAttribute( "value", ( new Date() ).getTime() );You must have an appointment booked after applying to adopt in order to meet the animals. You are welcome to drop off donations at any time or come into our reception office with any enquiries. We are constantly striving to improve all aspects of our work. Somerset
SexMale
Age4 years
BreedSoft Coated Wheaten Terrier

Bean is a lively and characterful Patterdale Terrier cross who is looking for an experienced and active home that can meet his needs. Once he feels comfortable, Bean is an affectionate boy who enjoys settling down alongside his carers, especially when he has one of his favourite toys to keep him occupied.Bean is extremely toy motivated and highly driven, showing many traits of a working-type terrier. He thrives on activity and engagement, particularly when toys are involved, and will need plenty of mental stimulation to keep him happy and fulfilled. Due to his background and natural instincts, he would benefit from having appropriate outlets for his energy, such as scent work, problem-solving games, and other enrichment activities.Bean is best suited to being the only dog in the home, as he may find living with another dog challenging. However, with careful management, he could enjoy having a well-matched dog walking companion to help meet his social needs in a controlled way.

Beryl, a 6 years old female Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier available for adoption from Ryedale Dog Rescue in North Yorkshire

Ryedale Dog Rescue

Beryl

North Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age6 years
BreedSoft Coated Wheaten Terrier

A terrier looking for an adult only homeBeryl is a 6 year old Patterdale Terrier who came into RDR from a council stray pound when she was only a puppy. She had sustained quite severe injuries in her former life as a hunt terrier and it took time for her to recover from these. On veterinary examination she was found to have a serious heart problem and underwent specialist open heart surgery to repair a whole in her heart (PDA) when she was just over a year old. She recovered very well from this and was given a clean bill of health afterwards. However she does suffer from a rare skin condition where she lacks collagen so her skin appears super stretchy. This can cause occasional issues but is managed well either with bandaging or surgery and any veterinary needs would be covered by RDR at Ryedale Vets who have known Beryl throughout her time with RDR. She is the best companion inside but don’t let that innocent face fool you as she’s a typical terrier when out and about and VERY interested in anything with fur or feathers!! She is fully vaccinated and neutered and good around other dogs although due to her health issues would probably be best living as an only dog in a home.If you’re interested in Beryl, please email chair@ryedaledogrescue.org.uk Before you contact us please read Our Adoption Policy

Biscoff, a 7 years old male Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier available for adoption from Epsom Canine Rescue in Surrey

Epsom Canine Rescue

Biscoff

Surrey
SexMale
Age7 years
BreedSoft Coated Wheaten Terrier

Hi there, my names Biscoff and I'm a real cheeky chap! I can get a little scared of quick hand movements but soon come out of my shell. I'm very nosey and get involved in eveything going on around me. If you love Terriers then your sure to love me! I also had a very bad start in life and need gentle introductions to new people, especially men.I'm looking for an active adult experienced terrier home where there is always lots going on, I need to stay on a long line because I love to go off investigating, once my super nose picks up a scent I'm off! A semi rural home would be best for me, as like my friend Buddy I do get scared by loud noises and traffic. I am super affectionate, love lots of cuddles and fuss and will make you laugh daily with my antics! My favourite trick is to distract you with some mischief and then slurp your cuppa! I will need a lovely secure garden with at least a 6ft fence with gravel boards. If you think im lovely complete a rehoming form.

Blakey, a 3 years old male Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier available for adoption from Forest Dog Rescue in West Midlands

Forest Dog Rescue

Blakey

West Midlands
SexMale
Age3 years
BreedSoft Coated Wheaten Terrier

Blakey came into us as his owner unfortunately passed away and there was no-one to take care of him He is an absolute pocket rocket and the only training he has ever had is sit and down. This boy will be a challenge we can't lie. His leadwork is improving but still a work in progress - give him an inch and he will definitely take a mile! Although he is super friendly (too much so) with people this hasn't been the case with other dogs - it is more a case of shout and react first. It is clear that he has had no socialisation whatsoever so we have had to start from scratch - he isn't a foodie so this has been a tough one.Loves his zoomies in the playpen, will chase after toys but gets very easily distracted by anything! It is like he is seeing things for the first time and doesn't quite know what to see and do first. He will need quite a specific home - one with terrier experience, very active and people with time to put into his training. No dogs or furries for this little chap and older children due to his lack of manners. We know he is going to be a difficult rehome but we have to try!

Buddy, a 5 years old male Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier available for adoption from Manchester and Cheshire Dogs Home in Greater Manchester

Manchester and Cheshire Dogs Home

Buddy

Greater Manchester
SexMale
Age5 years
BreedSoft Coated Wheaten Terrier

This loveable boy is Buddy! He is the perfect mix of playful energy and affectionate companionship. He’s a friendly, easy-going lad who absolutely adores people and loves being the centre of attention. Full of character, he’s excitable, giddy and always ready to make you smile. Whether it’s cuddles on the sofa or a game in the garden, he just wants to be involved in everything you do. He is bursting with energy and would thrive in an active home where he can enjoy plenty of exercise, playtime and mental stimulation. Fetch is one of his favourite games, and he will happily keep you entertained for hours chasing after a ball. Buddy is incredibly affectionate and loves a fuss, he will make a loyal, loving companion. One thing to note : He is quite the escape artist, so he will need a private secure garden and owners who are mindful of doors, gates and fencing. When Buddy came into us he had an Entropian (an eye condition) which has now been repaired and he is healing nicely.Buddy has interacted well with other dogs whilst in our care so we feel he could potentially live with another high energy dog following a successful meet and greet. As Buddy came into the home as a stray we have no previous history on him so would prefer any children in the home to be 14+ years. We are unsure how Buddy would react around cats.If you have a holiday booked in the next 3 months please wait until you return to apply for a dog.

Meet Charlie & Loki – A Bonded Pair Looking for Their Forever Home Charlie and Loki are two loving brothers searching for a special home where they can stay together. These handsome boys share an incredibly close bond and do everything side by side — including curling up together in the same bed at the end of the day. Both dogs adore people and are wonderfully affectionate once they know you. They love fuss, attention, and being close to their humans, making them fantastic companions for someone looking for loyal and loving dogs. Charlie and Loki enjoy their walks, especially in quieter areas where they can relax and explore with no other dogs around. They would thrive in a calm environment with owners who understand that while they are sweet-natured boys, they still need some ongoing training and guidance to help with dog reactivity and handling in the vets. With patience, love, and consistency, Charlie and Loki will make incredibly rewarding companions for somebody. If you’re looking for a pair of affectionate best friends to share your life with, these two could be the perfect match.

Dolly, a Unknown old female Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier available for adoption from Auras Dogs in Gloucestershire

Auras Dogs

Dolly

Gloucestershire
SexFemale
AgeUnknown
BreedSoft Coated Wheaten Terrier

Please read Dolly’s full advert before applying. Dolly is fearful of men and will require very slow, carefully managed introductions. Ideally, she is looking for a female-only home. She will also need an experienced, patient, terrier-savvy adopter who understands rescue dogs and is willing to give her the time she needs to build trust. Dolly is a funny little scruffball who came into our care from the stray kennels and has quickly won hearts with her huge personality. Full of love, fun, and affection, Dolly is a cheeky little character who loves attention and has a wonderful habit of “dancing”—especially when treats are involved! She brings endless entertainment to her foster home and keeps everyone smiling with her playful antics. While Dolly has so much love to give, she does need a special home that understands her fears. She can be very wary of unfamiliar men and, on occasion, new women too. Once she trusts someone, she forms strong bonds and becomes a loyal, affectionate companion, but she needs people who will respect her boundaries and allow her to progress at her own pace. For this reason, Dolly will need several meet-and-greets with any potential adopter before going home. Although she currently lives with children, we feel she would be happiest in a calm, adult-only household with limited visitors and not too much day-to-day bustle. Dolly loves her walks, enjoys spending time outdoors, and would suit a semi-active home that can provide both adventure and companionship. After a day of exploring, she’s more than happy to curl up for cuddles and enjoy some quality time with her favourite people. Dolly currently lives with another dog and has had canine friends in the past. However, she can be vocal when on lead and requires careful introductions to new dogs. To give her the best chance of settling into a new home successfully, we are looking for a home where she can be the only dog and enjoy all the attention to herself. Dolly is a wonderfully quirky little girl who simply needs the right people to see past her worries and help her feel safe. In return, she will reward them with loyalty, laughter, and endless affection. Could you be Dolly’s perfect match? Adoption Application Form: https://aurasdogs.co.uk/adoption-form/ FAQs: https://aurasdogs.co.uk/faqs/ Costs: https://aurasdogs.co.uk/costs/ Our adoption donation fee includes: • Vaccinations • Neutering (where age-appropriate) • Microchip • Blood tests (for dogs arriving from abroad) • Health check • 5 weeks’ free insurance • Lifetime rescue backup and support Please note that if an adoption is unsuccessful, all dogs must be returned to our care. We rehome within a maximum 90-minute drive of our centre in Gloucestershire.

Eddie, a 6 years old male Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier available for adoption from Assisi in Northern Ireland

Assisi

Eddie

Northern Ireland
SexMale
Age6 years
BreedSoft Coated Wheaten Terrier

Eddie is a small dog with a big personality. He is a spirited terrier cross who comes alive in our enclosed fields – running, sniffing and especially splashing about in any water he can find. His love for the outdoors and his playful nature shine through when he is in his element. Eddie is loving and loyal once he gets to know you, but he does have his quirks and needs a bit of time and patience to build trust. Because of this, Eddie is looking for an adult only home with no other pets. Ideally he would be looking for a home in a rural area, where life is quieter and calmer as he finds moving traffic very stressful. Due to issues in his previous home, Eddie would benefit greatly from working with a trainer or behaviourist who can help guide him and build his confidence in a positive way. With the right support and consistency, Eddie has the potential to thrive and form a deep bond with his new person. Eddie isn’t the right fit for everyone, but someone with a big heart and quiet home, he could be the perfect companion.
