This lovely lad is Bentley, a 10 year old westie cross who initially came into us 7 years ago, he was adopted by a wonderful guy and Bentley was his absolute world, very sadly he passed away recently so Bentley has come back into us for rehoming. He's a really happy little chap and very loving with his people, he's protective in the home and will bark and growl at visitors, if they meet him outside and come in with him he's absolutely fine but would ideally need someone confident in dealing with this, or with low visits to the home!Bentley out and about is hit and miss with dogs, he will ignore most but sometimes barks at them, he definitely will want to be an only dog in the home. He's very much a cuddly boy in the home, he loves a belly rub and to sit with his fosters while they work.We wouldn't home him with any young. Kids, ideally Bentley needs an adult only home where he will be someone else's world againHe is a little chunky so needs to lose a tiny bit of weight, he loves his walks!Bentley is neutered, chipped and has restarted his vaccines. His adoption donation would be £120 applications to our website please

Duke, a 5 years old male Border Collie x West Highland White Terrier available for adoption from Cheadle Animal Welfare in Derbyshire

Duke

Derbyshire
SexMale
Age5 years
BreedBorder Collie x West Highland White Terrier

Duke has had a few years of upheaval through no fault of his own. He has been flourishing in his current home but sadly now needs to find another home.He needs a calm and understanding home with someone who has experience of collies and their natural traits so he can feel safe. He is nervous around loud noises and does not like other dogs. A pet free and child free home is best for him, so that children do not accidently frighten him. A fully secure garden for him to play in is required. He is a happy dog and loves to play with his toys. Like all collies he is intelligent and loves his exercise and playtime so his mind can be stimulated. He walks well but will pull towards his favourite walking field as he gets close! He is looking to become a wonderful, faithful companion to someone who will give him the time, activity and stability he deserves. We are helping his current owner to find him the perfect new home.

Flynn & Harriet, a 13 years old male West Highland White Terrier available for adoption from Wonky Pets Rescue in Derbyshire

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND ONLY APPLY IF YOU CAN OFFER A HOME TO BOTH DOGS AS A PAIRFlynn is a 13yr old male westie and Harriet is a 15yr old terrier cross female, they are both neutered, microchipped, flea and worm treated. In agreement with our vets we have chosen not to vaccinate at their ages but they have had full bloods checked which are all good and both have had extensive dentals with many teeth removed. They have a clean bill of health given their ages and will be rehomed with 5 weeks free pet insurance.Flynn and Harriet found themselves in a sad situation, they have always lived together in the same home and been very much loved but sadly as their owners got older, one needed to go into residential care and then some time later the remaining owner passed away. Sadly as we see in lots of situations like this where people are struggling to care for themselves, they had also struggled with the care of thedogs and when they were removed by the police and taken to a local vets they were in a real state. Both dogs were filthy and matted, they were running with fleas and whilst Flynn just had a dirty saliva stained coat poor Harriet had an open wound and skin infection where she had been chewing at herself. Both dogs had severe dental disease and badly overgrown nails, with poor Flynn having 4 nails curled round and growing into his pad which was so painful for him. On arrival we immediately groomed them and clipped their nails then got them to our vets for their dental work. Now fully recovered they are feeling so much better and have been doing brilliantly.Flynn is a very typical westie in many ways, he is generally a happy quite sociable boy, he can find his voice at times but isn't a particularly vocal boy but whilst he is ok with a fuss and seeks out attention he will not tolerate being manhandled around his legs or feet, having his mouth checked etc by either an owner or vet and will snap if its tried. He was however pretty good being groomed andbathed.Harriet is a sweet girl, she is incredibly bonded to Flynn and looks for him all the time, she may have some early dementia as she can sometimes appear a little "lost" but other times she is as bright as a button and has certainly improved massively since arriving with us. They are quiet dogs who spend a lot of the day curled up together sleeping so would suit a quiet home. Both dogs are loving their food now their mouths feel so much more comfortable for them, they also have joint supplements and salmon oil for their coats which are massively improved.Flynn is a more active lad for his age, he loves a little walk and a run around in our paddock, Harriet is slower and doesn't need to go as far as she is that bit older but she is happy to stay at home without stressing while Flynn enjoys more exercise or they like a little potter together. They both sleep downstairs together at night without a sound and are fine to be left for a few hours during the daytime. They walk ok on the lead and travel ok in the car too. They are in foster with lots of other dogs here which Flynn can find a bit overwhelming at times but mostly they are absolutely fine with other smaller sized dogs and could share their home with another gentle similar sized dog or or be the only dogs in the home, they have met dog savvy cats and seemed ok with them. They are best homed without resident children (although teenagers would be fine) but are fine with respectful visiting children and were pleased to have a fuss from grandchildren recently.Flynn and Harriet will need a patient home with a nice enclosed garden as they weren't housetrained at all on arrival (probably due to the conditions they had been living in previously and not having access to being let out) This has improved hugely in their time here but Harrietin particular can still toilet on the floor sometimes so new owners do need to be 100% prepared for this.Being fostered in Swadlincote, South Derbyshire but can be rehomed further afield subject to home check and adoption donation of £150 for the pair (finding the right, committed forever home is more important than an adoption donation)If you have the experience, time and commitment to give these two their retirement they deserve please email us telling us all about your home offer in detail along with your FULL ADDRESS and contact number to wonkypetsrescue@gmail.com
