SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES SOUGHT: Do you know someone who would understand Bailey?Bailey’s holding out for a soulmate who will understand his guarding issues, and with whom he can share a quiet, probably rural life. Born in 2019, sighted, and weighing around 26kg, Bailey is a lovely, friendly, chunky boy, currently in kennels in Cambridgeshire. We will cover the cost of some behavioural support sessions to help Bailey settle into his new home.Bailey is always delighted to see people; he absolutely adores being cuddled. He has the most beautiful colouring and markings on his face, and huge soppy eyes which he uses to look curiously at you while he’s waiting patiently for his evening treat. He also does a little dance when he knows it’s supper time.Bailey’s a confident dog – not scared or nervous at all. He’s energetic at playtime and loves zooming around in the paddock or chasing a ball. He looks so pleased with his tongue lolling out when he’s nice and tired. He’s an obedient dog who walks very well on the lead.Bailey has lived in a home before, both with and without other dogs. He developed guarding behaviours in both environments. He is currently living in kennels where the opportunity for this is reduced but is still in evidence – particularly with high value lasting treats like bones. We are looking for an experienced and understanding owner for Bailey (possibly a single person) who is prepared to work with the likelihood of this arising again. In particular, we would suggest he is not given bones or high value lasting treats.Although Bailey is not dog reactive and happily ignores his kennel neighbours, we expect he would be best suited as an only dog. Hobbs (born 2021, 24kg and fostered in Hampshire) loves everyone and has been lovely with children. He is incredibly affectionate and funny and loves cuddling up and watching TV, especially ‘Traitors’!This clever, affectionate boy lost his eye due to being badly beaten as a puppy, but he is very well adapted to partial sight.Hobbs was reactive when he first came into foster. With time, training, and getting to know Hobbs, it has become clear that the cause of his reaction to other dogs was frustration: he wanted to meet them and play. His fosterers have a routine in place where they ask him to check in before and during walks, staying in control. This is working well. He has been pack walking and even off the lead on occasion.However, Hobbs is still a work in progress when he is outdoors, and therefore we are looking for experienced and patient adopters who are prepared to put the time into continuing his training.Because Hobbs is a strong and agile dog, it is essential his new owner(s) can manage him physically. He is a sensitive soul, very clever, but very sound sensitive; terrified of fireworks. We suspect there may be Shepherd in his breed mix.In the home, Hobbs has beautiful behaviours: he is housetrained, crate-trained, sleeps through the night, responds to his name, is non-destructive, can be left alone, learns quickly, travels well, doesn’t counter surf.Hobbs is a clever chap and an adventurous spirit too; inquisitive and excited to explore out on his walks. He loves a sniff, loves to play, and would probably be up for some agility training too.Hobbs is looking for a calm, kind and understanding person or family who are interested in helping him improve and who will shower him with love. Have you ever seen a dog with a more expressive face?! Shaggy boy Marley, (blind, born 2020, 30kgs and currently in foster in Serbia), has many looks - you can see here his thoughtful, his slightly grumpy, and his special puppy dog that he hopes might get him a home….Marley was found some months ago, struggling to survive as a blind dog on the streets. Emaciated and starving (as can be seen in some of his photos) he was taken into temporary care. Despite his lovely nature, no one offered him a home and he was in danger of being returned to the street. Luckily a local rescuer became aware of his plight and stepped forward to ensure his safety and contacted BDRUK for help.Marley has seen a veterinary ophthalmologist who explained that his blindness is due to degenerative changes in the optic nerve and retina. Marley also has cataracts in both eyes. He has had a thorough vet check including his teeth, heart and lameness with no issues found. The vet noted he is bright, alert and responsive. He is due to be neutered soon.Marley is now in a foster home and has settled in beautifully. He’s an easy boy, with a gentle temperament. He is good with people and enjoys a cuddle and was friendly when meeting his new foster people for the first time. His rescuer says he is a good boy, but notes that one time a stranger approached him from behind and touched him, Marley was startled and gave a little growl. Marley is a gentle boy, with a confident step that he uses to nose around; snow white shaggy fur, brown speckled ears and happy waggy tail. And, of course, his wonderful face!Marley isn’t an energetic dog and is described as “calm and composed”. He enjoys mooching round the garden. He may bump into a wall occasionally but that doesn’t faze him. He’s happy to go out for a little walk and walks nicely on a lead. It is possible he was once someone’s companion.Marley is good with other dogs, mixing calming with them in the back yard. He travelled well in the car to his foster home with another dog. Introducing lovely Mary. This beautiful girl is 3 years old (as of October 2023) and very friendly with people. She is a large size - 20kg.Mary is a very sweet, kind and friendly dog. She has fantastic recall and will sit, she’s very quick and learns expectations instantly - going to her crate to eat, her room when asked and outside on command. Mary isn't always clean at night but generally very good and eats anything but doesn’t scrounge from others. She is persistent for treats though, sitting in front of you or walking backwards on her back legs. She had a phase of barking at night but it was very short lived and she now knows the routine for bed and is quiet all night.No health problems. Sweet Mile: the dog who always makes us smile! Born 2025, 15kg, fully sighted, and in outside foster in Serbia, Mile came to our attention because he had suffered incredible cruelty.However, his exuberance and zest for life just reminds us how resilient and perfect dogs are.Mile was discovered in a forest in Serbia. His rescuer heard crying and found him with a rope tied so tight around his neck that he had an open wound from its abrasions.It is unclear whether whoever abandoned him had attempted to kill him violently, or whether he had been tethered and left to perish. Either way, veterinary attention confirmed that most likely Mile had spent his life tethered and restricted. You can see the imprint in some of the videos.Safe in a friendly neighbour’s garden, Mile was initially cautious and rarely wanted to leave his kennel. And yet he began to trust his kind people, he let his puppyish curiosity overcome his fear, he started to run in the back yard and became a joyful, lively young pup who loves to cuddle and eat from your hand.Mile is very energetic, curious, delighted to explore his surroundings and always ready to play. As he spends a lot of time alone, he cannot contain his excitement and zooms around when he has company. With more consistent stimulation and training, Mile will calm of course, but nonetheless we are looking for a home for Mile who will commit to giving him a good level of exercise and mental stimulation.Mile is good with other dogs, is lovely with children, and has met a kitten briefly without showing any aggression. A more conclusive cat test can be provided on request.Mile’s new home will need to be ready for a dog that needs training from scratch. Mile has never lived in a house so will need basic training and lots of patience as he adapts to his new life. We are looking for a home ready to commit to this and support Mile as he has lots to learn.Mile has worn a collar but as yet had not had experience of walking on lead. Rina is our Golden Girl - golden not only in looks, but also because she is a model dog.Born c. 2021, 25kg, fully sighted and fostered in Hertfordshire, Rina is going to be ‘the dog of a lifetime for somebody’.Despite being rescued from the streets of Belgrade, and living subsequently in a Serbian shelter, Rina behaved beautifully in her foster home from day one. She is unphased by household noises; she is quiet and calm sleeps through the night on her own. She has been left alone for 3 hours and not shown any distress or destructive behaviours. She is housetrained and has not had one accident since her arrival in foster. Not many dogs can lay claim to all of this… and still there is more!Rina lives currently with three other dogs and six (mostly indoor) cats. She was non-confrontational on meeting the other dogs for the first time and remains very respectful of them, especially her blind friends; she doesn’t mind it when she gets bumped into!Rina was cat tested at the shelter in her country of origin, Serbia. She showed no interest in the cat. Likewise, she shows little interest in (and certainly no aggression towards) the cats in her foster home. However, Rina is not currently mixing with the cats in her home; this will come in time.Walking Rina is a delight - she walks beautifully on lead and doesn’t pull. She walks happily with other dogs or on solo walks. When she comes across something scary or curious, her tendency is to stop and keep away from trouble if possible.Rina has a medium energy level and currently enjoys two walks per day of about half an hour each. (It is such a joy to watch her wiggly bum dance when she is getting dressed in her harness.) She is happy to go on a longer trek but isn’t looking to do that every day. She isn’t a hugely active dog and would be happy with one walk if needs be. Her needs are very manageable.Most of all, Rina loves people. She warmed instantly to her fosterer and visitors and showed no signs of nervousness. Rina loves cuddles and belly rubs, looking up at her beloved person with big doting eyes. She currently jumps up to greet her fosterer, so pleased is she to see her.Rina has so few behaviours that would need correcting but will be easy to train as she is such an obedient girl; she already responds to her name, as well as commands such as ‘Let’s Go’, ‘No’, and ‘Wait’, and is always looking at her person for praise and affirmation.Rina isn’t a big eater; she has a very restrained attitude to food and even refuses a treat on occasion! Her main driver is her bond with her person, and her desire to please.If you are looking for a dog that epitomises the golden idea of a ‘best friend’…Rina is your girl. Rocky is a polite, retired German Shepherd gentleman with a wry sense of humour. He weighs 30kg, was born in 2016, and is currently fostered in Coventry.Rocky’s fosterer says she has never met a dog who walks so beautifully on the lead; accepting a head collar willingly so he's easy to walk. Rocky is sedate, considerate and rarely pulls. Having worked for most of his life as a security dog for a business in Spain, Rocky has been carefully trained and is sociable, friendly and calm when meeting people. He accepts his treats very politely, travels beautifully in the car, and is quiet and restrained in the house (except when he plays, and then he is very vocal!) Rocky is clever and slightly mischevious and makes his fosterer laugh every day with his antics. He likes to steal the things she leaves lying around and then bring them over to show her. Rocky loves to be involved in everything that is going on and would happily do activities such as scent training and obedience. His love of food makes training even easier! Rocky loves to be around his humans, but can become anxious and bark when he is not around them, or when they are closeby but not in reach. Although retired, Rocky is healthy, active, playful and very mobile; not showing any signs of slowing down. He was retired because he has Pannus (inflammation of the cornea). This is easily managed with eye drops and ointment (approximately £56 per month) and does not stop Rocky living a full life. Rocky would love to accompany you on lovely long walks and adventures. As he is very sensitive to having his claws clipped and has needed sedation previously, pavement walking would be very helpful!Rocky can live with other dogs, pending successful introductions. He tends to get on better with females or submissive males. ‘He stole our hearts with his need for affection and cuddling!'Tery is the sweetest little terrier cross. Born c. 2023, 12kg, neutered and partially sighted, Tery was once a stray who was caught and dumped in the state shelter. Now he lives in a foster home in Serbia.During his time in the shelter, Tery was picked on by other male dogs and attacked repeatedly. Shortly before his rescue, the poor chap was bitten all over his head. One of his eyes was so badly damaged that it needed to be removed. Hence Tery is now partially sighted. Due to his horrific and repeated ordeals in the shelter, Tery is now wary of coming into close contact with other male dogs. He is not reactive on sight - as you can see from his videos, he’s not bothered by the presence of other dogs out on walks or in the distance.As for female dogs, he is sometimes fine with close contact (again, as you can see from his video), but not always. Sometimes Tery’s trauma gets the better of him.Tery is tolerant of cats but like many terriers, wants to play with them and can be too rough.Therefore, we think the best home for Tery would be as the only pet in the home. Tery adores people; he absolutely craves affection and cuddles.Tery is very active and playful and will need an active home. He also needs people who will put in time to training him, guiding him, reassuring him and providing for his needs, helping him feel safe and secure.Tery loves long walks. He can walk on a lead but does need extra training as he does pull hard sometimes. Currently Tery loves to dig holes - this could be due to boredom and lack of exercise in his foster home. Tery needs regular physical and mental stimulation like any young terrier but sadly isn’t getting it currently.Tery is very well behaved in the car and public places - look at him hanging out at the cafe! He is used to living in a home environment. He really is a cracking little dog - let’s not let his past get in the way of finding him the home he deserves. Puppy Zane was born blind in the UK on 13 May 2026. He is a normal pup, loving life, who has no idea he's blind!Zane's mother is half Lurcher, quarter American bulldog, and quarter Doberman. His father is half Lurcher, half Standard bulldog. When grown Zane will be a tall, athletic dog like his parents (who are both shown in the photos and videos). Zane is quite calm, very loving, and loves to chew. He was one of the smaller pups initially and had more accidents with toilet training to begin with, but he has the bonus of being one of the more laid back pups, taking after his father, who is nicknamed 'Zen'!Zane currently lives with his parents, 6 pup siblings (sighted) and cats. Zane's mother has always had good recall, has always loved people, including children, and has always been good with the family cats at home. When young she was boisterous and chewed, but has grown out of the behaviour and is mellower now, although she does still pester for attention and is more needy and vivacious than Zane's father. Mum does still experience some separation anxiety and can be impatient on walks or out and about, whining and wanting to keep moving! Zane's father, 2 years old, has a very chilled out nature. He even shares food with the cats! He is a gentle soul. He takes longer to get to know people and can be more nervous outside the house.
