Meet Alfie and Lily, our beautiful Whippet duo. What could be better in life than two Whippets? One is wonderful, but two is even better. Alfie, who we believe is likely Lily’s dad, is around four years old, while Lily is just a baby at only eight months old. Together they make the most delightful pair. Both are wonderful natured, quirky, and full of fun. When they get excited, they put on the best zoomies imaginable, racing around in great big loops and bringing smiles to everyone watching. Then, true to their lovely sighthound nature, once they’ve had a good run about, they happily take themselves off for a long, cosy nap. They are looking for a home together where they can continue enjoying life side by side. They could live with other dogs if needed. They haven’t been fully cat tested, but so far they have shown absolutely no interest in the cats, and this could be explored further. They are looking for a home with children aged 14+ as they can still be a little shy when meeting new people. A truly special pair who will bring double the love, double the fun, and double the snoozes.

Arthur, a 8 years old male Jack Russell Terrier available for adoption from Almost Home NI in Northern Ireland

Arthur

Northern Ireland
SexMale
Age8 years
BreedJack Russell Terrier

Meet Arthur ️ Arthur is a little Jack Russell with a gentle soul and a story that would melt your heart. Estimated to be around 7–8 years old, Arthur hasn’t had the easiest life. He came from a property where there were many, many dogs being used for breeding, spending his days in breeding sheds with very little opportunity to experience the things most dogs take for granted. As a result, Arthur is a shy boy who finds the world a little overwhelming at times. But every single day, we’re seeing a little more of his personality emerge, and what a lovely little character he is proving to be. There is something incredibly special about watching Arthur discover life. The simple things that other dogs have always known are completely new to him. A soft bed, gentle affection, feeling safe, having someone he can trust. Little by little, he is learning that people can be kind and that the world isn’t such a scary place after all. Arthur is looking for a quiet, settled home where he can continue to grow in confidence at his own pace. We think he would benefit from living with another calm, friendly dog who could show him the ropes, but most of all he needs a family willing to give him the patience, understanding and love he has missed out on for so many years. He may not be the dog who charges into your life demanding attention. Instead, Arthur is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart, rewarding your kindness with every small step forward he takes. After everything he has been through, we would love nothing more than to see Arthur spend his golden years exactly as they should be spent — warm, safe, loved, and finally knowing what it feels like to belong. Could you be the person to change Arthur’s life forever? ️

Bella

Northern Ireland
SexFemale
Age8 years
BreedCocker Spaniel

Bella is a special girl who needs a suitable home.Bella is a beautiful little Cocker spaniel x Retriever who needs a suitable adult only home. She isnt suitable around kids, so needs a home with no kids and if any kids are visiting she would need to be kept seperately. She is crate trained, so could be placed in a crate in a seperate room.Bella is ok with other dogs on walks and can share her play area with other dogs no problem, but she would like to be the only dog in the home as she much prefers her own space. She likes playing with her toys and would play fetch all day if you let her. She is also happy to content herself running around with a toy in her mouth or watching the birds. She does walk ok on the lead in quiet and rural areas, but in busier areas she has a tendancy to pull towards fast moving objects such as cars, cyclists etc. Aslong as she gets her needs met through excercise or brain games she is a happy girl. If she doesnt and she gets bored, she can start staring at shadows/reflections due to boredom. She is used to sleeping a crate at night time. She did have a nipping/biting incident in her previous home when they tried to pick her out of the carboot while she was sleeping, so its believed she may have some sleep startle. We have had no aggression from her during her time with us, she is very food and toy orientated which makes training easier. She is a good girl who just needs a suitable forever home. Before coming into our care, Bella did suffer from ongoing tummy issues. Tests were done and it was discovered she had been dealing with an ongoing parasite infection which required special medication to treat. She has now completed two courses of this medication to make sure all the bugs are dead. But as a result of the years without treatment, she has been left with a sensitive tummy and can have flair ups of soft stool at times.

She would much prefer a quiet, settled environment with someone who understands the sensitive nature of the breed and will allow her time to blossom at her own pace. Bella enjoys her walks and likes getting out and about, but equally she is happiest living a peaceful, easy life with gentle companionship and plenty of reassurance. Big Max, a 9 years old male German Shepherd available for adoption from Assisi in Northern Ireland

Assisi

Big Max

Northern Ireland
SexMale
Age9 years
BreedGerman Shepherd

This is Max, a beautiful shepherd cross with a heart as big as his paws. He found himself back at Assisi through no fault of his own. Loved by staff both old and new, this gentle giant has charmed everyone who takes the time to earn his trust. While Max is quick to warm up to familiar faces, he can be wary of strangers – particularly men- but with patience and positive interactions he comes around. Once you’re in his circle, you’ll be greeted with bonding enthusiasm, a wagging tail, and a tongue-out grim as he races through the field like a pup, ball in mouth. On walks, Max is strong on the lead but loves a good sniff around. In his younger years, he was more reactive to dogs and strangers when out on walks, now he can cope with both at a distance and is able to glance and return to his favourite hobby – sniffing. Due to his size, strength and history, Max would need an adult-only home as well as being the only pet.

Bruce, a 9 years old male Jack Russell Terrier available for adoption from Assisi in Northern Ireland

Assisi

Bruce

Northern Ireland
SexMale
Age9 years
BreedJack Russell Terrier

This handsome boy is Bruce, and he is your stereotypical Jack Russel. Bruce can be wary of the big wide world and finds it overwhelming at times. He much prefers quiet walks with his trusted companions and values quality time with them – once Bruce has built a bond with you, you will have a friend for life! His best friend at the Sanctuary is Tana the Shih Tzu, and they love going for quiet afternoon strolls together where they can take in the scenery and all the interesting smells. Bruce is comfortable wearing his muzzle when out on walks and can easily take treats through the gaps when working on learning new skills with the staff. In his downtime, he loves playing with toys and has become quite the collector! – he will often inspect our donation bin for more to add to his collection. He also enjoys daily naps in his comfortable bed and, like many of us, prefers to be undisturbed while sleeping. It would be beneficial to provide Bruce with a quiet area in his new home to place his bed. He is incredibly clever and loves learning new tricks! – he knows sit, paw, down, and hand touch – he has also trained people to let them know he would like attention by gently tapping you with his paw. Bruce is looking for a home that can work with some behavioural issues he has developed throughout his life due to stress and not giving him the space and time he needs. He can be quite fearful of strangers and men and will need time to come out of his shell, build confidence and trust in his new home. Do you have room in your heart and your home for a shy guy like Bruce? If so, please get in touch with us if you would like more information or fill in the application form down below.

Buddy is a very fearful boy, who requires a very quite more rural home with no children as he will snap if he gets really scared.Buddy is a very fearful boy, who requires a very quite more rural home with no children as he will snap if he gets really scared. He would likely need potential adopters to visit more than once as it takes him quite a while to warm up to new people. Once he got used to me, he became very cuddly and affectionate and will follow me everywhere if i let him. He is currently working on going for short walks on a harness, he is terrified of the leads around his neck and will panic and thrash about. But he is doing well on the harness and is growing in confidence. He will need alot of time, patience and understanding. He will now walk on a slip lead for me as he trusts me, be wont walk on a slip lead for anyone else, so a harness would be required.
