Hi everyone, my name's Archie and I may be little in size but have a big personality to make up for it.I have spent the last month in Foster care with one of the staff members from the centre here, and I have loved being in a comfy home environment again. This has allowed the team to learn a lot more about my rehoming requirements. So here goes......I am going to need quite a special home that's nice and quiet with an owner who will give me lots of time, patience, reassurance and understanding as I am a very worried and scared little boy. I am not the type of dog that likes to be fussed or petted, so if you are looking for a lap dog that isn't me I'm afraid. However, the team have been working on other ways of interacting with me and I now know a "touch" command and I get so excited to do this, I'm such a good boy!I would also benefit from having a space in my new home just for me, where I can go to if I need some quiet time - my Foster Mum says I get very sleepy in the evening and will take myself off to my favourite "igloo" bed.I am spotlessly clean in the home, and I actually settle very well so would be fine to leave for a period of time - you will most probably find me asleep under my blanket upon your return as I love getting all snuggly and warm. I am not a fan of the rain, mud, getting dirty or being woken up from my snoozing though!Once I know and trust you the real Archie comes out to play - I just love my special mini sized balls and tug toys, we could have so much fun! I am actually very clever and know lots of commands, love enrichment activities and am keen to learn new things. I am good on the lead and really enjoy sniffy walks as long as I'm away from busy roads.I wouldn't be able to live with cats or dogs I'm afraid, but if you have an adult only home and would be willing to handle me carefully and build up my confidence I would love to meet you and show you the real Archie x

Hello. We’re Billy and Bear. We're a devoted father and son pair looking for a calm, understanding home together. We are very bonded and take comfort in one another. If we feel unsure, we look to each other for reassurance. Because of that, we need a quiet household where life is predictable and gentle. We haven’t been cat tested and would be best suited to a home without cats. We also need an adult only home with no busy social scene. We can feel overwhelmed by too much noise or activity, so adopters should be calm, experienced with small dogs and able to move at our pace. It’s clear we haven’t experienced much of the outside world before coming into rescue. Our foster home has been carefully building our confidence with short buggy trips and we’re making steady progress. We’ve now had our final vaccinations, so short walks can begin very soon. Each new step is helping us grow.We are both booked in for dentals on 13th March. Following that, we will be castrated, fully vaccinated until 2027 and fully up to date with our veterinary care. Billy just needs his recent procedure fully healed and Bear is gradually gaining weight as he’s currently on the lean side.House training is something we are still learning. We need adopters who are at home most of the time and able to let us out regularly (around hourly for now) so we can continue building good habits with patience and consistency. We can be unsure with visitors. The key with us is simple: allow us to approach in our own time and avoid reaching over our heads. When we feel safe and respected, we respond beautifully. In the right environment — calm, steady, and committed — we will form incredibly loyal bonds. We are affectionate, sensitive little boys who have already made great progress in foster care with our foster mum. With continued gentle guidance, we will continue to flourish. If you can offer us patience, structure, and a peaceful life together, we will give you devoted companionship in return. Can't wait to meet you.LoveBilly and BearXX

I'm a 2-year-old Chihuahua (Smooth Coat) Cross from Hertfordshire rehoming centre and I'm looking for my forever home. Please read my profile below to find out more.Blue is a sweet and affectionate girl who loves nothing more than being around her favourite people and getting tasty treats!Blue enjoys stretching her legs and taking in all the wonderful smells on her walks. Blue would prefer to walk in quieter areas, where she has the space to relax and enjoy her walks.Blue can be a little unsure of making new human friends and will need her new family to support her with this to help her become the best version of herself. She will need owners who can read her body language to know when she is feeling less comfortable and give her the space to grow and settle into her new home at her own pace. Once she is comfortable with you, she looks for lots of reassurance from her person and you will start to see her cheeky personality.Blue could possibly live with older children of around 12+ that can read her body language to know when she is feeling less comfortable. She could possibly live with small animals or a cat. However, Blue can be quite uncomfortable around other dogs and would benefit from being the only dog in the home.If you are interested in this lovely girl, please fill out an applicationThe best way to stay up to date with what's going on at Blue Cross is to join our mailing list.Blue Cross is a registered charity in England and Wales (224392) and in Scotland (SC040154). I'm a 1-year-old Chihuahua (Smooth Coat) from Thirsk rehoming centre and I'm looking for my forever home. Please read my profile below to find out more.Boris is a gentle, sensitive soul who’s ready to begin a new chapter with someone who truly understands his nature. Having lived quite a sheltered life, he’s still discovering the world around him and will need an owner who can help him grow in confidence at a pace that feels safe and reassuring. While Boris can be nervous when meeting new people or encountering unfamiliar places, time, patience, and kindness soon reveal his sweet, affectionate character. He’s searching for a calm, steady home where life feels predictable and peaceful. Busy areas and lively environments won’t be his thing, so quiet walks, simple routines, and positive experiences will help him thrive. Boris could live with a calm and friendly dog who can gently guide him, but he would be equally happy as the only pet, soaking up encouragement from his humans. Older children who can respect his boundaries and understand when he needs space would suit him best.A secure garden will offer Boris a safe space to explore and build confidence step by step. Hello.I’m Bramble, the black Pomchi. They think I'm around 9½ years old, but they can't be sure and I can't remember. That can happen when you get a bit older. Anyway, this is my very dear friend Bentley, although we all call him Benny, a gold Chihuahua estimated to be about 8½ years old. We’re a closely bonded pair of boys and are looking for a home together. We’ve been in our foster home now for around six weeks and have really started to settle. I’m the more confident one and Benny takes a lot of reassurance from having me by his side. We’re happiest when we’re together and we look to each other a lot. He's only got to glance my way and I know exactly what he's thinking. We’re very much a package deal.I’m the cuddlier of the two of us and I do absolutely adore snuggling up close to people. I’ll gently paw you when I’d like some affection so you can oblige. Benny is just as loving in his own way, but he prefers to just follow everyone from room to room, quietly keeping an eye on whatever’s going on.We’re both house trained, although if the weather is bad we’re not overly keen to head outside. Just saying. As we’ve settled, we’ve both grown in confidence and become more playful, especially me, which our foster family say is lovely to see. When it comes to walks, I enjoy heading out and exploring at my own pace, whereas Benny needs a bit more persuasion. He’s much happier pottering around the garden, which he'll do for ages, sniffing and taking everything in slowly. I think having me alongside him when we're out does help him feel a little braver. We can both be noise reactive and will bark at people or dogs passing the house, as well as when we’re out and about. Because of this, we’d suit a quieter, calm, understanding home with people who are happy to help us feel safe and supported.Health-wise, we’re being well looked after. Benny is booked in for a dental at the vets on the 16th January and I’m getting used to having my teeth brushed. I’m also on a special diet at the moment as I’m getting into shape for the summer. I’m doing well with that.At night, we love sharing the bed with our people, but we will also settle in another room if needed. Just so you know, Benny is a very loud snorer, which our foster family finds extremely endearing. We could live with another small friendly dog with the right introductions. Because we’re sensitive souls and can be easily startled, we’d be best suited to a home with older children only. We’re affectionate, comical little characters, and foster mum says any family willing to offer us a calm, loving home will be very lucky to have us.Get in touch soon if you think that could be you. We'd love to hear from you.Love,Bramble and BennyXx

Are you right for Bruce? At 8 years old, Bruce is a sweet, low-energy boy who is looking for a calm and understanding home. He can be shy and worried when meeting new people, so he’ll need patient adopters who are happy to let him take things at his own pace and build his confidence gently. Once he knows you, Bruce has bundles of love to give — cuddles with his humans are his absolute favourite thing, closely followed by pottering about on short walks and having a little play with his toys. He can be left for 1–4 hours once settled and would really benefit from a secure outdoor space to support his housetraining and give him a safe place to relax.

Are you right for Bruno?Bruno is a 7-year-old sweetheart looking for a calm, adult-only home where he can truly relax and be adored. He’s a happy little character who enjoys meeting new people and absolutely loves being picked up and cuddled. Medium in energy, Bruno enjoys his walks and travels well in the car, but he can be conflicted when meeting unfamiliar dogs and may bark at them on lead. Once he knows another dog, however, he can walk along nicely. He has previously lived with a cat and could do so again with sensible introductions and good management. Bruno is housetrained, using puppy pads by the back door as well as toileting in the garden. He will need a home where someone is around initially, as he likes to follow his foster carer and cannot be left alone until fully settled. He does have some medical issues that can be discussed in more detail with the centre.
