Our handsome boy Brogan is now ready to start looking for his forever home.At 9 years young, Brogan came into our care when his owner was sadly no longer able to look after him. Despite having a tough start in life, Brogan doesn’t let anything hold him back. He is missing a back paw due to an attack by his mum when he was a newborn puppy, but it doesn’t slow him down one bit and he gets around just fine.Brogan is a Cavachon and at 18.3kg he’s quite a big boy for the breed mix. He has lived happily with other dogs and has been great with children. Carry is a sweet and gentle girl who came to us from a breeder looking for a fresh start. When she first arrived, she was very scared and unsure of people, but she has already made wonderful progress and is continuing to grow in confidence since moving into foster care.Carry has settled well into life in a home and is taking all the sights and sounds of everyday living in her stride. She sleeps soundly with the other dogs in the lounge each night and has settled into a good routine, although she is quite happy to let her foster carer know when she thinks it's time to start the day! She has a great appetite, happily accepts treats from your hand, and has been generally clean in the house.Carry is still nervous of being touched and will often run away if someone tries to fuss her. However, she is becoming much braver and will now happily approach to sniff hands. If she is relaxing on a dog bed or in a smaller space where she feels safe, she is beginning to tolerate gentle fusses. She is trying so hard to be brave, and it has been lovely to watch her confidence slowly grow.Carry relies heavily on other dogs for reassurance and will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her forever home. They will help guide her through new experiences and continue to build her confidence as she settles into family life. She has also started taking her first steps with lead training and recently allowed her foster carer to attach a lead to her collar and enjoy a little walk around the garden, with plenty of encouragement and a generous supply of squeezy cheese!She has also discovered the joy of playing with soft toys and can often be found happily throwing them around and giving them a good shred. Seeing her playful side emerge has been a wonderful milestone and shows just how much she is beginning to relax.Carry will be looking for a calm and understanding home with resident dog companions and patient adopters who are happy to let her progress entirely at her own pace. We feel she could live with older, dog-savvy children who understand that she will need time and space to build trust. As she is in a foster home, she is beginning to learn about home life. But her adopters will need to continue helping her with house training, lead walking, and all the other adventures that family life brings.Carry is an adorable little girl who is trying so hard to overcome her fears. She brightens the day of everyone who meets her, and with continued patience, kindness, and reassurance, we know she will continue to blossom into a happy and trusting companion.Our vets have noted that Carry has a Grade 3 patella luxation in her right hind leg. This is not causing her any issues at present and may improve with gentle exercise, but it will need to be monitored by her adopters and their veterinary team. Cloe is a very worried little lady who has come to us from a breeder and is still learning that people can be kind. It is clear she has had very little positive experience with humans in the past, and as a result she finds trust incredibly difficult. She can be flighty when worried and may choose to protect herself if she feels pressured or uncomfortable.Cloe is a sweet but complex girl who has already shown us that, once she truly trusts someone, she has a wonderfully affectionate side. Although progress has been slow, it has also been incredibly rewarding. She now greets her favourite carers every morning with an excited waggy tail and is trying her absolute hardest to be brave around the people she trusts.She has made lovely progress with handling and has recently enjoyed a full groom. Cloe was an absolute angel throughout, allowing herself to be groomed beautifully. She has also recently been bathed and gently dried, taking it all in her stride. These may seem like small achievements, but for a little dog who once found human contact so frightening, they are huge milestones.We have also discovered that being picked up is only scary for Cloe at first. Once she is safely in someone's arms, she relaxes completely and allows herself to be handled without fuss. We truly believe that, with continued patience and positive experiences, this fear will continue to fade and she will become even more confident.Cloe has also recently started her harness training. Although she is still a little too timid to venture out on walks just yet, she is making a fantastic start and we are confident that, with a little more time and encouragement, she will soon be ready to begin exploring the world beyond the rescue.Cloe will need a calm, quiet, adult-only home with no visiting children and adopters who have experience of very worried ex-breeding dogs. Her new family will need to understand that building a relationship with her will take time and that the best way to win her trust is to allow her to approach on her own terms, without rushing or placing expectations on her.She absolutely loves the company of other dogs and will need a kind, calm and confident resident dog in her new home. Having a canine friend gives her comfort and reassurance and will help guide her as she learns about life beyond the rescue. We have also discovered that Cloe is not comfortable around cats and can become quite fixated by them, so she will need a cat-free home.As she has never lived in a home before, Cloe's adopters will need to be patient as she learns about house training and everyday routines. Progress with Cloe may never be fast, but she proves time and time again that she is willing to try for the people she trusts.We are incredibly hopeful for Cloe's future. She has already come so much further than we ever imagined possible in the rescue environment, and we truly believe she will flourish in a patient, understanding home. She simply needs someone willing to take a chance on her, give her all the time she needs, and let her discover that the world isn't such a scary place after all.Cloe has had seven teeth extracted at the time of her spay, as well as an inguinal hernia repaired. Freddie Male 7 1/2 Years Cavalier x BichonFreddie has had numerous stays in the sanctuary. We are determined that Freddies next adoption will be successful.Freddie has displayed aggression on numerous occasions in the past. Most of these incidents have been around resource guarding of items he considers valuable to him, or reacting fearfully when being interrupted where he is resting. Our behaviourist has indicated there may have been a pain element to this. Freddie has now been on a pain relief and hopefully he will be more comfortable in future.Cute things about Freddie –His little underbite. The way he waddles when he walks. His fave toys- dinosaur, octopus and caterpillar. His enthusiast morning greetings to his fave people.Freddie is the most clearest example we have seen of a dog preferring women over men. With having had so many unsuccessful adoptions we will now saying that Freddie should live in a female only home. There must be no children living or visiting the home. Prospective adopters should be prepared to work with our behaviourist and staff at the sanctuary to help set the home and Freddie up for success. Adopters should be tuned in to dog body language and have experience of dealing with similar behaviour issues.Some small dogs feel the need to shout louder to be listened to so it is important we listen to Freddie’s communication.Assistance will be provided by way of our Aprils Wish program to help with behaviour. Holiday originally came to us from a breeder. She was adopted and found a lovely home, but sadly it wasn't the right match for her as the resident dog wouldn't accept her, so she came back into our care. Holiday has since moved to a foster home where she is settling beautifully and continuing to learn all about life in a home.Holiday is a very sensitive girl who had very little socialisation before coming into our care. When she first returned to us, she found people incredibly worrying and was very hand-shy. Her first instinct was always to run away, and she wasn't comfortable being picked up or handled. If she felt pushed beyond her comfort zone, she could react by nipping out of fear, and she did nip her previous adopter once when she became overwhelmed during handling.Holiday will still be looking for a calm, quiet, adult-only home with no visiting children. She will need adopters who understand the needs of scared ex-breeding dogs and who are happy to let her settle at her own pace, without pressure or expectations. She relies heavily on other dogs for comfort and reassurance and will need at least one other kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help guide her.Since moving into foster care, Holiday has made some really lovely progress and is growing in confidence every week. She now happily comes into the sitting room and chooses to settle nearby while her foster family relax. She enjoys being part of family life and likes to know where everyone is, often coming to find them and quietly checking in throughout the day.She is now happily taking treats from our hands and has recently started giving gentle little nose bumps to our hands, which is a wonderful sign that her trust is growing. She also greets us with a wagging tail and will happily sit and listen while we talk to her, maintaining eye contact. When she first arrived, she would run away as soon as anyone spoke to her, so this has been a huge milestone.Although Holiday is becoming much more confident, she still isn't ready to be handled much and is not yet comfortable wearing a harness or going for walks. Her adopter will need to be happy to continue building her confidence at her own pace, allowing her to decide when she is ready for each new step.Minus her brief adoption, Holiday had never lived in a home before, but she has settled brilliantly into foster care. She is now 99% clean in the house and has established a lovely routine. She absolutely adores the other dogs, taking great comfort from them and often following their lead. She enjoys spending time in the garden and small secure field, where she loves exploring, relaxing and watching the world go by. She has also been left at home with the other dogs for a few hours and has coped very well.Holiday is a very special little girl who has already come such a long way. She is learning that people can be kind and that home life isn't so scary after all. She still has a journey ahead of her, but with plenty of patience, understanding and the support of another dog, we hope she will continue to grow in confidence and enjoy everything her new life has to offer.Holiday has been given the Gift of Life by Ellie Worron

Jack is a sensitive Cavapoo who is looking for a patient and experienced home where he can build confidence and settle in at his own pace. While he has a playful and loving side with those he has bonded with slowly, he can be worried by unfamiliar people and new situations. Jack is seeking owners who have owned or cared for dogs before and have a solid understand of stranger reactivity and can take their time with Jack while introducing him to new people, without placing pressure on him. Jack can bark and growl at people at times and this has been seen in his previous home, as well as here at Battersea Old Windsor. His new owners must be pepared to continue the training and management advice we have put in place to help him so far. He can also find more invasive and clinical handling stressful, so this will need to be worked on slowly in his new home to help continue a positive association to different scenarios.Once Jack is comfortable, his affectionate nature truly shines. He adores attention from his favourite people, he can paw at them for more fuss and becomes a loyal, loving companion who enjoys being close to those he knows best.He is highly motivated by treats and enjoys toys, sometimes becoming vocal and demand barking towards his handlers to either throw a toy for him or if they have taken too long to reward him with a treat. This makes these fantastic tools for building trust, creating positive experiences and supporting ongoing training. Jack would prefer to be the only dog in the home, as he enjoys having his own space. However, he may benefit from walking alongside calm companions who will not overwhelm him. With a predictable routine, plenty of patience and new owners committed to his ongoing training and helping him feel safe and secure, Jack has so much love to give. Kira is a super sweet and gentle lady who has come to us from a breeder. She has now spent a week in foster care and has made lovely progress. Her first day was understandably overwhelming, and she spent hours pacing around the garden, too frightened to come into the house. However, with patience and reassurance, she has already started to settle into her new routine.Kira has grown in confidence over the past week and now happily follows her foster carer around the house, enjoying being nearby. She is curious about what is going on around her and is no longer fazed by everyday household noises. Although she is still a little shy, she will happily sniff an outstretched hand, gently take treats, and accept a little fuss as people pass by, even if she doesn't actively seek attention just yet. It seems that chicken is certainly the way to Kira's heart!Kira has a healthy appetite and would happily help herself to the resident dogs' meals if given the opportunity! She enjoys the company of the other dogs and has even started joining in with their excited races up the garden whenever they spot a squirrel, although she's still learning exactly how the game works. She hasn't shown much interest in toys yet and hasn't quite discovered the sofa, but we are sure these milestones will come in time as her confidence continues to grow.She has been wonderfully clean in the house from the very beginning, helped by having easy access to the garden, and she sleeps soundly through the night. However, she may some reminders of this in her new home. She is also happy wearing a harness, and her foster carers will soon begin introducing lead walking once she is ready.Kira is looking for a calm, adult-only home where she can continue to blossom at her own pace. She will need plenty of time, reassurance, and TLC as she learns that life can be full of comfort, companionship, and love. Her coat is also beginning to grow back nicely where she had alopecia, and she is looking healthier every day.In the right home, we believe this gentle little girl has every chance of becoming a wonderful and devoted companion. Spaniel x Beagle, spayed, microchipped and 7 years old. Vaccinations have expired. She has been flea'd and wormed and will go to her new home with 4 weeks free Petplan insurance.She is a medium sized dog - big built and extremely friendly.Lottie knows and understands basic commands.She is fully house trained.Lottie does initially pull on the lead in excitement to go out but soon calms down and walks nicely. Good recall. No issues with travelling.If treats are involved, happy to have a bath - she does love her food.Will chase anything that has wings or buzzes.Loves to catch bubbles but not a fan of a hose or doggy pool.She can be quite boisterous and does like to greet people by jumping up at them - no malice.Prefers to sleep on the sofa rather than her own bed.No cats.Lottie can live with children from 5+ and she does not snatch food from them.A secure garden with adequate height fencing is a must.We would love to see Lottie go to a home where she is not going to be left for more than a few hours per day.

Background –Pearl has left behind a life of breeding.Character –Pearl is the sweetest little girl you’ll ever meet! Although she’s been used as a breeding dog, she isn’t as nervous as your typical puppy farm girls, so she may be initially tentative upon meeting you but within no time she’s right up to you for cuddles. Pearl arrived carrying a little extra weight with a slightly dodgy haircut but she promises she’s a budding beauty!Type of home –Pearl is currently living in a home with a variety of other small dogs and is loving life! She’s a wonderful working from home companion, pooch pal, and walking buddy. She travels well and loves going to the beach. Pearl must go to a home with at least one other dog, for support and confidence, and would prefer a home where she isn’t left much as she’s used to having constant company.Pearl is currently in Weston-super-Mare and potential adopters will need to visit them here.Our catchment area for rehoming is Somerset and the local surrounding areas (such as Bristol, Bath, Weston Super Mare and Wiltshire).
