The East Midlands offers a mix of cities, market towns and open countryside, creating varied opportunities for rescue dog adoption. Dogs available across the region are often matched with adopters based on lifestyle, routine and access to outdoor space rather than exact location. Many rescues operate across county boundaries, using foster homes to assess dogs before rehoming. Adopting within the East Midlands supports responsible placements and long-term success for dogs and adopters alike.

Adah, a 7 years old female Unknown available for adoption from BARK in Nottinghamshire

BARK

Adah

Nottinghamshire
SexFemale
Age7 years
BreedUnknown

Beautiful Adah has been back with us a few months after her second home fell through. Adah really does need a very special home but we are determined to find it! She is 7 years old, vacs and chipped and will be spayed. Adah is a really lovely girl with us and has a great relationship with everyone at the kennels but in a home she can be aggressive with strangers and needs to be either muzzled or shut away from any visitors. She also gets quite stressed when left during the day so needs someone who will be around most of the time. She loves to play and enjoys running around our secure field. She would love a good sized secure garden with 6ft plus fencing as she is very athletic and can scale a fence very easily. Adah needs to be the only pet and people who are willing to give her the time she needs to settle and bond. She hates being in her kennel so we really hope that special someone is out there for her and she can get her happy ending. If you are interested in meeting Adah please read through our adoption criteria in the link in the ADOPT section and message us with as much information as possible. We are currently running on appointments only.

Adey

Nottinghamshire
SexMale
AgeUnknown
BreedCrossbreed

Please meet our cheerful gorgeous crossbreed, a very happy boy with a tail that just won’t stop wagging!Poor Adey was kept outside in -5 degrees without any shelter sitting on a concrete step begging to be let into the kitchen. He was kept alive by a neighbour throwing food over the fence, who raised the alarm. He got the name Adey because his neighbour who kept him alive was called Adrian. The community asked for our help.He loves being around people and, while he might be a bit strong on the lead at first, he settles down quickly. That said, he does appreciate having his personal space when out and about and isn't a fan of being crowded.Adey really enjoys starting games, is ball obsessed and has an enthusiastic spirit, which shows he could benefit from a little extra training.Just a heads up - he’s definitely not a fan of rainy days!He would thrive best in a home without other pets, as he can be a bit reactive towards other dogs

Albie, a 2 years old male Cavalier King Charles Spaniel available for adoption from Bliss Cavalier Rescue in Lincolnshire

Bliss Cavalier Rescue

Albie

Lincolnshire
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedCavalier King Charles Spaniel

Location: North LincolnshireHealth conditions: Chiari-like malformation (CM) with pain – now well controlled on medication. Cryptorchid (retained testicles) on arrival; has undergone surgical removal and recovered well. History of an anal gland abscess in rescue, now fully resolved. Heart clear. On medication? Yes – lifelong medication for Chiari malformation (approx. £40 per month)Behaviour traits: Friendly, confident, social and affectionate. Excellent with new people. Will bark at dogs when out. Extremely prey driven – highly stimulated by birds, squirrels and other small animals, and can become very strong when triggered. Activity level: High – needs at least two good walks every day. Training required: Ongoing recall and lead training essential. Walks well generally, but will pull and bark when prey-driven or when he sees other dogs. Training and management must be ongoing and realistic.Albie is a 2-year-old black and tan Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a big personality, a huge love of life, and a real enthusiasm for the world around him.He has grown up living with other dogs and thrives on canine companionship, so Albie will need to live with at least one other friendly dog in his forever home. He gains confidence and reassurance from having another dog around and would not be happy as an only dog.Albie is a very social boy. He is excellent when meeting new people. He does bark at other dogs, so he needs further training. He travels well in the car, and is fantastic at the vets. He has also lived happily with older children and enjoys being part of a busy, engaged household. One of the most important things to understand about Albie is his very strong prey drive. He is highly stimulated by movement, particularly birds, squirrels, cats, and other small animals, and when triggered, he can become suddenly very strong on the lead, pulling hard and barking. This is not aggression but rather instinct and excitement, and it means that Albie needs to be handled by someone who is physically able and confident.Because of this prey drive, Albie is not suitable for a home with cats or small animals, and a very secure garden is essential. He will attempt to chase prey if he sees it, and cannot be trusted in unsecured outdoor spaces. While Albie will continue to benefit from training, it’s important to be realistic; off-lead freedom may not always be appropriate for him, and careful management using secure areas and long lines will be required.Albie is a young, energetic dog who needs at least two good walks every day. Regular exercise is essential for his physical and mental well-being and makes a significant difference to his sense of stability and responsiveness. He generally walks nicely on the lead, but ongoing training around distractions will need to continue as part of his routine. At home, Albie loves company and will need someone around for most of the day. He can be left for short periods only, ideally after exercise when he is ready to rest, but would not cope with being left for long hours on a regular basis. From a health perspective, Albie has Chiari-like malformation (CM). He arrived in rescue in significant pain, but with appropriate medication, he is now comfortable and doing very well. This is a lifelong, managed condition, and medication compliance is essential; it is not optional or “as needed”. His current medication costs approximately £40 per month, and as CM is a pre-existing condition, adopters must be financially prepared to self-fund ongoing care for life. His medication may need adjustment over time as his needs change.Albie is currently heart clear. He previously underwent surgery to remove retained testicles (cryptorchidism) and has fully recovered. He also had an anal gland abscess while in rescue, which has resolved.Albie will thrive in an active, capable home with realistic expectations, another dog for company, and adopters who are committed to training, management, and long-term care. In the right environment, he is a bright, affectionate, and engaging young Cavalier who has a huge amount to offer.Type of home required: An active, capable home with at least one other friendly dog for company. A very secure garden is essential due to Albie’s strong prey drive and escape risk. Adopters must be physically able to safely manage a strong dog on the lead. Off-lead freedom may not always be appropriate and secure areas or long lines will be required.Important Notes Albie’s Chiari-like malformation is a pre-existing condition; adopters must be financially prepared to self-fund ongoing CM care for life. Medication compliance is essential and not optional or “as needed”. Home check and meet & greet required within 7–10 days of applying. Alfie, a 3 years old male German Shepherd available for adoption from German Shepherd Rescue Elite in Nottinghamshire

German Shepherd Rescue Elite

Alfie

Nottinghamshire
SexMale
Age3 years
BreedGerman Shepherd

Please meet Alfie who is already a hit with all the volunteers. Our Alf is fully vaccinated and chipped, now just needs neutering as soon as we can get him into a foster place. This boy is so polite, he is very calm in the kennel environment and also while out walking, although he can be very strong on the lead when walking alongside the other dogs.He has met quite a few people since he arrived from the stray pound and he has been ok with everyone.Alfie enjoys his walks and doesn’t really interact with the other dogs, no aggression he just prefers human company and will need to be the only dog in the home.He did have a short spell in a home. He did attach himself to one person more than the other and then tried to dominate the weaker person which caused problems and Alfie was returned to kennels. He will need stronger leadership next time and a couple who will work together in putting rules and guidelines in place so everyone knows exactly where they stand. It really isn’t hard to follow.Alfie is a very good boy when taking treats, he kindly offers his paw and takes the treat so gently. We have seen no issues around food other than the fact he is a very picky feeder and has lost some weight because of this. We have to watch his food intake and his tastes seem to change on a weekly basis. Currently he has a liking for Winalot pouches and will eat these happily so we give him a good supply. He also enjoys a hoof stuffed with raw and the odd pigs ear. He has recently shown some interest in toys which was great to watch, he did take a shine to one of the Kong balls with the handle another ball inside, he thought he had found some treasure.A no to cats and no history around children so teenagers only.If you are fully vetted by us and ready to roll speak to your area coordinator and pop along and visit me.

Ally, a 3 months old male Belgian Malinois available for adoption from Jerry Green Dog Rescue in Lincolnshire

Jerry Green Dog Rescue

Ally

Lincolnshire
SexMale
Age3 months
BreedBelgian Malinois

Hello! We’re Digby, Ally, Dizzy and Bimble We’re four puppies from a litter of Belgian Malinois – two boys and two girls – all born at the very end of November 2025. We’re currently based at the South Lincolnshire centre in Boston, and some of our siblings are staying at North Lincolnshire too.We didn’t find homes as very young pups, so we have come into rescue, and now we’re ready and waiting for the right people to come along and see our potential Being Malinois, we’re clever, energetic and full of drive, so we’re searching for owners with experience of active, high-energy working-type breeds or similar. In the right hands, we will make fantastic sports dogs or active, training-focused dogs. We are all food and toy motivated, which makes learning enjoyable, and we’re already confident walking on lead. We are currently on the smaller side for our age, with the biggest of us only around 7kg at the moment. We’ve grown up in kennels, so home life will be completely new to us. We’ll need patient, understanding people who are committed to showing us everything we need to learn as we mature. We are confident, friendly youngsters who are happy to greet everyone, but we will need guidance, structure and consistency to help us develop into well-rounded adults.A little bit about us as individuals:Digby (boy) is a clever lad who is very food driven and enjoys working for his rewards. He’s already walking nicely on lead and is very receptive to training.Ally (boy) is responsive and picks things up quickly. He’s doing really well with sits and loose lead walking, and enjoys practising what he knows. He can be a little whiney at times and will benefit from some confidence building as he grows.Bimble (girl) is a very people-focused puppy who can be quite needy and loves being close, always wanting to be near you and involved. She can sometimes be a little quick to “chat” to new people, so would benefit from calm people-watching and positive exposure to help her feel more at ease.Dizzy (girl) is a confident character who loves her toys and can get a little carried away in her excitement. She is also responsive to food, making her fun and engaging to train. We may be small now, but we won’t stay that way for long. We’re searching for committed homes that understand the time, effort and dedication it takes to raise a young Malinois through adolescence and beyond. We are ready to head off to our new homes, so please only apply if you feel prepared to take on an active and rewarding challenge.Because we are bouncy, mouthy and full of energy (very typical for our breed), we are ideally suited to homes with children aged 14 and over. We could be flexible for slightly younger children if they are confident and used to similar behaviours. We could potentially share a home with other dogs and animals, but this would require sensible introductions and ongoing management. These four puppies are at the South Lincolnshire centre (PE20 2BB) and you will need to come and meet us. When applying, please include details of your previous dog experience. You can also let us know if you have a preference for a particular puppy or sex. If you already have a dog, just let us know a little about their experience with puppies and whether they are neutered. If you have any trouble completing the online form, you can also call 01205 260546 for assistance.Love,Digby, Ally, Dizzy & Bimble Key info: Children 14+, Secure garden, Needs to be housetrained, Needs to build leaving hours
