Adah, a 7 years old female Unknown available for adoption from BARK in Nottinghamshire

BARK

Adah

Nottinghamshire
SexFemale
Age7 years
BreedUnknown

Beautiful Adah has been back with us a few months after her second home fell through. Adah really does need a very special home but we are determined to find it! She is 7 years old, vacs and chipped and will be spayed. Adah is a really lovely girl with us and has a great relationship with everyone at the kennels but in a home she can be aggressive with strangers and needs to be either muzzled or shut away from any visitors. She also gets quite stressed when left during the day so needs someone who will be around most of the time. She loves to play and enjoys running around our secure field. She would love a good sized secure garden with 6ft plus fencing as she is very athletic and can scale a fence very easily. Adah needs to be the only pet and people who are willing to give her the time she needs to settle and bond. She hates being in her kennel so we really hope that special someone is out there for her and she can get her happy ending. If you are interested in meeting Adah please read through our adoption criteria in the link in the ADOPT section and message us with as much information as possible. We are currently running on appointments only.

Adey, a Unknown old male Crossbreed available for adoption from Doris Banham Dog Rescue in Nottinghamshire

Doris Banham Dog Rescue

Adey

Nottinghamshire
SexMale
AgeUnknown
BreedCrossbreed

Please meet our cheerful gorgeous crossbreed, a very happy boy with a tail that just won’t stop wagging!Poor Adey was kept outside in -5 degrees without any shelter sitting on a concrete step begging to be let into the kitchen. He was kept alive by a neighbour throwing food over the fence, who raised the alarm. He got the name Adey because his neighbour who kept him alive was called Adrian. The community asked for our help.He loves being around people and, while he might be a bit strong on the lead at first, he settles down quickly. That said, he does appreciate having his personal space when out and about and isn't a fan of being crowded.Adey really enjoys starting games, is ball obsessed and has an enthusiastic spirit, which shows he could benefit from a little extra training.Just a heads up - he’s definitely not a fan of rainy days!He would thrive best in a home without other pets, as he can be a bit reactive towards other dogs

Alfie, a 7 years old male German Shepherd available for adoption from German Shepherd Rescue Elite in Nottinghamshire

German Shepherd Rescue Elite

Alfie

Nottinghamshire
SexMale
Age7 years
BreedGerman Shepherd

Please meet Alfie who is already a hit with all the volunteers. Our Alf is fully vaccinated and chipped, now just needs neutering as soon as we can get him into a foster place. This boy is so polite, he is very calm in the kennel environment and also while out walking, although he can be very strong on the lead when walking alongside the other dogs.He has met quite a few people since he arrived from the stray pound and he has been ok with everyone.Alfie enjoys his walks and doesn’t really interact with the other dogs, no aggression he just prefers human company and will need to be the only dog in the home.He did have a short spell in a home. He did attach himself to one person more than the other and then tried to dominate the weaker person which caused problems and Alfie was returned to kennels. He will need stronger leadership next time and a couple who will work together in putting rules and guidelines in place so everyone knows exactly where they stand. It really isn’t hard to follow.Alfie is a very good boy when taking treats, he kindly offers his paw and takes the treat so gently. We have seen no issues around food other than the fact he is a very picky feeder and has lost some weight because of this. We have to watch his food intake and his tastes seem to change on a weekly basis. Currently he has a liking for Winalot pouches and will eat these happily so we give him a good supply. He also enjoys a hoof stuffed with raw and the odd pigs ear. He has recently shown some interest in toys which was great to watch, he did take a shine to one of the Kong balls with the handle another ball inside, he thought he had found some treasure.A no to cats and no history around children so teenagers only.If you are fully vetted by us and ready to roll speak to your area coordinator and pop along and visit me.

Angel, a 8 months old female Crossbreed available for adoption from 1 Dog At A Time Rescue UK in Nottinghamshire

Angel

Nottinghamshire
SexFemale
Age8 months
BreedCrossbreed

Just Look at that face!Angel is currently staying with a wonderful fosterer in a home boarding environment (Gloucester area) and to say she’s a dream dog is an understatement. At just 8 months old, Angel is already incredibly clever. She’s the kind of puppy who watches you closely, tilts her head when you speak, and tries her absolute best to understand you. But her real superpower is her emotional intelligence. Angel has completely transformed the energy around the other dogs. If a dog comes in scared, unsure, or shut down, Angel steps in as a comfort blanket. She helps them feel safe, teaches them how to play, and encourages them to venture out. She is a natural healer at such a young age.She loves companionship and would thrive in an active home with another dog to guide her and keep her company. She can be a little unsure when meeting new humans at first, but once those treats appear, she thinks you are the greatest thing on earthAll Angels siblings have found their happy endings, and now it’s Angel’s turn.In return for a little patience and a lot of love, she will give you a lifetime of loyalty, laughter, and devotion. We are looking for a rural/semi rural home with a nice secure garden with lawn and a friend for Angel to play with. Someone with the time and patience to help Angel transform into the amazing girl we know she is destined to become. If you think you can meet Angels needs please fill out a registration form and one of our rehoming team will be in touch.

Asher, a 2 years old male Crossbreed available for adoption from 1 Dog At A Time Rescue UK in Nottinghamshire

Asher

SexMale
Age2 years
BreedCrossbreed

A Letter to Asher’s prospective forever family from his foster mum:Hello, My name is Sharon & I am Asher’s foster mum & I just wanted to share with you what am amazingly gentle, loving, resilient & brave dog Asher is.My hubby & I have had dogs in our lives for a such a long time & we have always chosen to rescue dogs. We have rescued from the UK & Romania & currently have 3 dogs- Ralf, Ed & Cerys. Last year we became foster carers, a role I absolutely adore. Since coming to stay with us last October Asher has just blossomed & is very different from the withdrawn, super anxious & vigilant dog we collected. His progress is very much at his pace which is at a slow speed (one paw at a time) but he has felt safe enough to share his fun-loving side & has started to trust us although but it is our view that this will be a long journey for him.He very much likes familiar surroundings & people & can become a little sensitive especially to unexpected noise; Asher when uncertain or nervous will withdraw. He is not at all aggressive in his nature or behaviour. He is getting used to visitors to our home & when one of my dog-walking friend visits Asher gets so excited he will do a ā€˜trotting dance’ & whistle.Asher’s greatest loves are our other dogs, being outside, toast & settees He loves being around our dogs & loves being outside doing ā€˜zoomies’ around our garden with them. He will jump on the bed in the morning with our gang & they will all have a snooze for an extra 15-30 minutes. He recognises the sound of the toaster & will dash from wherever he is to the kitchen; something he has learnt from Ralf. Asher continues to love a settee & is at his most relaxed when he is stretched out. He is no trouble at all to take out for walks. Although he is a little reluctant to have his harness put on, once this has been secured, he then begins to do his little dance showing his excitement. His recall is very good & when he is off the lead in the secure field, he is happy to explore but is also happy to come back when called.Asher is caring & considerate; for example, when we are out walking if I have him on the lead he goes at a slower pace & will periodically wait for me to catch up. When we come back from a rainy walk Asher is more interested in making sure the other dogs are dried off by licking them than being dried off himself. Today Cerys slipped while they were running around, Asher went up to her & licked her face to make sure, she was okay. He is instinctively empathetic. His interaction with dogs & people is very gentle. He is not a barker, Ed is a ā€˜talker’ & Asher will bark when he does but has never initiated any barking; He prefers to whistle when he gets excited. Cerys is full of issues, but Asher just works around her & is calm & caring in his interactions with her.

Bear came into our care as a terrified and disorientated pup. After being attacked by his parents at the breeders and nearly dying he has passed through 3 homes. The last being a home with 3 young children where he growled at the father on the day he arrived and the police were called and he was poled and marked for destruction at the police kennels. He wasn't vaccinated because he wasn't going to live. He had been in the police kennels for 2 weeks when we picked him up and he still reeked of cannabis.Bear will need several visits so he can gain trust with you and will need to go to an adult only home.

Bell & Buster, a 19 years old female Jack Russell Terrier x Chihuahua available for adoption from RSPCA in Nottinghamshire

Bell & Buster

Nottinghamshire
SexFemale
Age19 years
BreedJack Russell Terrier x Chihuahua

Bell and Buster share a very special bond, so we are looking to rehome them together. They are both lovable dogs who enjoy attention, walks and playtime, with Buster being the more confident and calmer of the two.Bell can be reactive to other dogs on walks, which then causes Buster to react too, although Buster will happily ignore dogs when walked without her. Despite enjoying attention, Buster also has a soft side and loves taking his teddy to bed with him.Due to their age, Bell and Buster would benefit from a quieter home environment and will need someone around most of the time while they settle into their new home.

Bella is an exceptionally sweet and affectionate girl who loves human attention and is always wagging her tail. She enjoys her walks and loves getting out and about, but when she’s back at home, nothing makes her happier than curling up on your lap for extra cuddles.Bella would make a wonderful companion for someone who is home for much of the day and can give her plenty of love and attention. While she can be left alone for short periods, any time spent on her own should be built up gradually to help her settle comfortably into her new routine.

Bella at OEH is a lovely confident dog with people once she is comfortable with you (she needs time to get to know you because she’s basically just a big scared baby). It doesn’t take long for her to realise you’re not a threat then she asks you for cuddles & treats. She is very strong on the lead and can be scared of some things when out on a walk (like loud noises etc, we’re not sure if she was walked much previously). She loves playing with water and trying to bite it.Bella is a beautiful girl and with a confident person willing to give her the time she needs to settle & grow her world she’s going to be a perfect companion.

I have more photos below! Staffordshire Bull Terrier Dog Friendly? Likes Dogs Cat Friendly? Not Cat Tested Child Friendly? Children over 8 Neutered? No Location: Nottingham Benson is a handsome older gentleman looking for love. He is a charming boy who is friendly, affectionate and full of life despite his advanced years. He is a typical Staffie in all the ways that make them such a popular breed. Benson came to us after his owner unexpectedly passed away. Sadly, the family were unable to care for him, so he is now looking for a retirement home of his own. To keep him out of kennels, he was placed in temporary foster care, where he quickly found his bed and settled in for a snooze before upgrading himself to the sofa just a few hours later. Benson still loves getting out for walks. He is well behaved on the lead, knows where the end of it is and doesn’t try to go any further. He loves sniffing through the grass and is happy to toddle along beside his walker for miles. He enjoys rolling around in cool, shaded patches of grass and making all the classic Staffie snorts. At his age, however, he prefers to spend most of his day sleeping. Once settled, he soon starts snoring away, although one ear always remains pricked just in case you decide to go somewhere without him. One thing discovered during foster care is that Benson struggles with being left alone. He will bark and cry if left for too long, so we feel a home with a retired person or someone who is around for much of the day would suit him perfectly. Thankfully, he is now with a foster carer who can be home with him. His current foster home also has other dogs, so it is possible that living with a canine companion may help ease his loneliness. Benson finds great comfort in being around people. He is friendly with strangers and is more than happy to come over, rest his head in your lap and see if there is room for him on the sofa beside you. He is completely unbothered by birds and other animals, he is content to watch them go about their business. He is generally good with other dogs, although he can be a little wary of dogs larger than himself. He may occasionally give a small grumble or warning bark, but he means nothing by it and is usually happy to ignore other dogs while out on walks. Benson is now enjoying a raw food diet, which he absolutely loves. He is highly food motivated and will happily sit for a treat. Rabbit ears and chicken feet are particular favourites. He is also not shy about letting you know when it is dinner time. In many ways, he is a typical old man: he grumbles for his supper and then promptly falls asleep in front of the TV. Benson is a truly lovely older boy. All he really wants is a soft place to rest, plenty of company and someone to share his golden years with. Microchipped

Big Fred, a 8 years old male Labrador available for adoption from Doggy Dens UK Rescue in Nottinghamshire

Big Fred

SexMale
Age8 years
BreedLabrador

I have more photos below! Check out my video Large Lab Mix 8 Years Old Dog Friendly? Likes Dogs Cat Friendly? No Cats Child Friendly? Children over 12 Neutered? Yes Big Fred is one of our favourites, and it’s not hard to see why. His happy smile, big personality and affectionate nature make him a much-loved resident of our kennels. He is the perfect example of tall, dark and handsome, although he could perhaps work on being a little more suave with the ladies. Having been with us for a while now, it’s fair to say he’s been unlucky in love so far. He was originally rescued from Romania after being pulled from a kill shelter. He has spent a little over 2 years with us, never finding his permanent home. His size can be intimidating to some, but big-dog lovers quickly realise that he’s really just a big, soppy softie. All of our staff are comfortable handling him as he walks well on the lead; however, he has shown a keen interest in birds and small furries, so a Gencon works best to keep him under control when he gets over-excited. We have put plenty of training into Big Fred so we would love to see his forever home follow this. We are happy to offer a handling session and plenty of follow-ups with his forever home. Big Fred has never shared indoor space with another dog before, but this could be a possibility following a successful meet and greet. That said, we honestly think he has more than enough love to give on his own. He is neutral with unfamiliar dogs when out on walks, which is ideal. He has also made friends with the other resident dogs in the kennels, including his best friend and kennel neighbour, Colin. Mostly because Colin always shares his treats when he comes back from ā€œday releaseā€. Roast potatoes from the pub are his favourite. While Big Fred can take his time to trust new people, it doesn’t take very long for him to warm up, he seems to be more trusting easily trusting of men, he is a proper ā€œlad dogā€ so we can understand why. Our staff love sneaking into Big Fred’s kennel for a cuddle. He adores a good scratch and will usually paw at your arm if you have the audacity to stop fussing him for more than a few seconds. He is a leaner, resting his full weight against your side when you sit together. Big Fred is a happy lad who is almost always wagging his tail, so much so that last year he sadly had to have most of it removed after wagging it to the point where it repeatedly split. Thankfully, he hasn’t mourned the loss of his lovely long tail. In fact, having a shorter one just means it can wiggle and wag even faster, with no consequences at all! As Big Fred has been with us for so long, a big change such as moving into a forever home may come as a surprise to him. We would therefore advise patience, structure and clear routines in his new home, along with plenty of time to decompress. We will be on board with his new owners throughout the process, ensuring that his next home truly is his forever one. Adoption Fee (Ā£400) Microchipped Please accept cookies to access this content

1 Dog At A Time is run by a team of passionate volunteers dedicated to helping street and stray dogs in Romania who face extreme neglect and hardship. The rescue highlights the brutal realities many dogs endure, from abandonment in remote areas to capture by dog catchers and confinement in overcrowded public shelters with little food or medical care. Dogs often suffer from harsh seasonal extremes, illness and injury, with puppies and elderly dogs particularly vulnerable. Driven by compassion and firsthand experience, the team works to give these dogs a second chance at safety and a loving home.

Babworth Animal Rescue Kennels (BARK) was founded in 2005 when Elaine and Darren Shaw transformed their private boarding kennels into a rescue after taking in dogs that would otherwise have been put to sleep. What began with helping local ā€œpoundiesā€ has grown into a sanctuary for unwanted and abandoned dogs and cats, as well as animals rescued from severe neglect and abuse in parts of Europe such as Romania and Bulgaria. BARK operates a strict non-destruction policy, caring for animals for as long as it takes to find the right home, with around 50 kennels, four cattery pens, and a large secure exercise field that allows dogs to relax and interact naturally. Entirely self-funded through donations and adoption fees, every penny raised goes directly toward animal care, veterinary bills, and the running of the rescue. Supported by a dedicated local community, BARK continues to give hundreds of animals a safe place and a genuine second chance at life.
