Adah, a 7 years old female Unknown available for adoption from BARK in Nottinghamshire

BARK

Adah

Nottinghamshire
SexFemale
Age7 years
BreedUnknown

Beautiful Adah has been back with us a few months after her second home fell through. Adah really does need a very special home but we are determined to find it! She is 7 years old, vacs and chipped and will be spayed. Adah is a really lovely girl with us and has a great relationship with everyone at the kennels but in a home she can be aggressive with strangers and needs to be either muzzled or shut away from any visitors. She also gets quite stressed when left during the day so needs someone who will be around most of the time. She loves to play and enjoys running around our secure field. She would love a good sized secure garden with 6ft plus fencing as she is very athletic and can scale a fence very easily. Adah needs to be the only pet and people who are willing to give her the time she needs to settle and bond. She hates being in her kennel so we really hope that special someone is out there for her and she can get her happy ending. If you are interested in meeting Adah please read through our adoption criteria in the link in the ADOPT section and message us with as much information as possible. We are currently running on appointments only.

BreedCrossbreed

Please meet our cheerful gorgeous crossbreed, a very happy boy with a tail that just won’t stop wagging!Poor Adey was kept outside in -5 degrees without any shelter sitting on a concrete step begging to be let into the kitchen. He was kept alive by a neighbour throwing food over the fence, who raised the alarm. He got the name Adey because his neighbour who kept him alive was called Adrian. The community asked for our help.He loves being around people and, while he might be a bit strong on the lead at first, he settles down quickly. That said, he does appreciate having his personal space when out and about and isn't a fan of being crowded.Adey really enjoys starting games, is ball obsessed and has an enthusiastic spirit, which shows he could benefit from a little extra training.Just a heads up - he’s definitely not a fan of rainy days!He would thrive best in a home without other pets, as he can be a bit reactive towards other dogs

Alfie, a 3 years old male German Shepherd available for adoption from German Shepherd Rescue Elite in Nottinghamshire

Alfie

Nottinghamshire
SexMale
Age3 years
BreedGerman Shepherd

Please meet Alfie who is already a hit with all the volunteers. Our Alf is fully vaccinated and chipped, now just needs neutering as soon as we can get him into a foster place. This boy is so polite, he is very calm in the kennel environment and also while out walking, although he can be very strong on the lead when walking alongside the other dogs.He has met quite a few people since he arrived from the stray pound and he has been ok with everyone.Alfie enjoys his walks and doesn’t really interact with the other dogs, no aggression he just prefers human company and will need to be the only dog in the home.He did have a short spell in a home. He did attach himself to one person more than the other and then tried to dominate the weaker person which caused problems and Alfie was returned to kennels. He will need stronger leadership next time and a couple who will work together in putting rules and guidelines in place so everyone knows exactly where they stand. It really isn’t hard to follow.Alfie is a very good boy when taking treats, he kindly offers his paw and takes the treat so gently. We have seen no issues around food other than the fact he is a very picky feeder and has lost some weight because of this. We have to watch his food intake and his tastes seem to change on a weekly basis. Currently he has a liking for Winalot pouches and will eat these happily so we give him a good supply. He also enjoys a hoof stuffed with raw and the odd pigs ear. He has recently shown some interest in toys which was great to watch, he did take a shine to one of the Kong balls with the handle another ball inside, he thought he had found some treasure.A no to cats and no history around children so teenagers only.If you are fully vetted by us and ready to roll speak to your area coordinator and pop along and visit me.

A Letter to Asher’s prospective forever family from his foster mum:Hello, My name is Sharon & I am Asher’s foster mum & I just wanted to share with you what am amazingly gentle, loving, resilient & brave dog Asher is.My hubby & I have had dogs in our lives for a such a long time & we have always chosen to rescue dogs. We have rescued from the UK & Romania & currently have 3 dogs- Ralf, Ed & Cerys. Last year we became foster carers, a role I absolutely adore. Since coming to stay with us last October Asher has just blossomed & is very different from the withdrawn, super anxious & vigilant dog we collected. His progress is very much at his pace which is at a slow speed (one paw at a time) but he has felt safe enough to share his fun-loving side & has started to trust us although but it is our view that this will be a long journey for him.He very much likes familiar surroundings & people & can become a little sensitive especially to unexpected noise; Asher when uncertain or nervous will withdraw. He is not at all aggressive in his nature or behaviour. He is getting used to visitors to our home & when one of my dog-walking friend visits Asher gets so excited he will do a ā€˜trotting dance’ & whistle.Asher’s greatest loves are our other dogs, being outside, toast & settees He loves being around our dogs & loves being outside doing ā€˜zoomies’ around our garden with them. He will jump on the bed in the morning with our gang & they will all have a snooze for an extra 15-30 minutes. He recognises the sound of the toaster & will dash from wherever he is to the kitchen; something he has learnt from Ralf. Asher continues to love a settee & is at his most relaxed when he is stretched out. He is no trouble at all to take out for walks. Although he is a little reluctant to have his harness put on, once this has been secured, he then begins to do his little dance showing his excitement. His recall is very good & when he is off the lead in the secure field, he is happy to explore but is also happy to come back when called.Asher is caring & considerate; for example, when we are out walking if I have him on the lead he goes at a slower pace & will periodically wait for me to catch up. When we come back from a rainy walk Asher is more interested in making sure the other dogs are dried off by licking them than being dried off himself. Today Cerys slipped while they were running around, Asher went up to her & licked her face to make sure, she was okay. He is instinctively empathetic. His interaction with dogs & people is very gentle. He is not a barker, Ed is a ā€˜talker’ & Asher will bark when he does but has never initiated any barking; He prefers to whistle when he gets excited. Cerys is full of issues, but Asher just works around her & is calm & caring in his interactions with her.

Bear came into our care as a terrified and disorientated pup. After being attacked by his parents at the breeders and nearly dying he has passed through 3 homes. The last being a home with 3 young children where he growled at the father on the day he arrived and the police were called and he was poled and marked for destruction at the police kennels. He wasn't vaccinated because he wasn't going to live. He had been in the police kennels for 2 weeks when we picked him up and he still reeked of cannabis.Bear will need several visits so he can gain trust with you and will need to go to an adult only home.

I have more photos below! Check out my video Large Lab Mix 8 Years Old Dog Friendly? Likes Dogs Cat Friendly? No Cats Child Friendly? Children over 12 Neutered? Yes Big Fred is one of our favourites, and it’s not hard to see why. His happy smile, big personality and affectionate nature make him a much-loved resident of our kennels. He is the perfect example of tall, dark and handsome, although he could perhaps work on being a little more suave with the ladies. Having been with us for a while now, it’s fair to say he’s been unlucky in love so far. He was originally rescued from Romania after being pulled from a kill shelter. He has spent a little over 2 years with us, never finding his permanent home. His size can be intimidating to some, but big-dog lovers quickly realise that he’s really just a big, soppy softie. All of our staff are comfortable handling him as he walks well on the lead; however, he has shown a keen interest in birds and small furries, so a Gencon works best to keep him under control when he gets over-excited. We have put plenty of training into Big Fred so we would love to see his forever home follow this. We are happy to offer a handling session and plenty of follow-ups with his forever home. Big Fred has never shared indoor space with another dog before, but this could be a possibility following a successful meet and greet. That said, we honestly think he has more than enough love to give on his own. He is neutral with unfamiliar dogs when out on walks, which is ideal. He has also made friends with the other resident dogs in the kennels, including his best friend and kennel neighbour, Colin. Mostly because Colin always shares his treats when he comes back from ā€œday releaseā€. Roast potatoes from the pub are his favourite. While Big Fred can take his time to trust new people, it doesn’t take very long for him to warm up, he seems to be more trusting easily trusting of men, he is a proper ā€œlad dogā€ so we can understand why. Our staff love sneaking into Big Fred’s kennel for a cuddle. He adores a good scratch and will usually paw at your arm if you have the audacity to stop fussing him for more than a few seconds. He is a leaner, resting his full weight against your side when you sit together. Big Fred is a happy lad who is almost always wagging his tail, so much so that last year he sadly had to have most of it removed after wagging it to the point where it repeatedly split. Thankfully, he hasn’t mourned the loss of his lovely long tail. In fact, having a shorter one just means it can wiggle and wag even faster, with no consequences at all! As Big Fred has been with us for so long, a big change such as moving into a forever home may come as a surprise to him. We would therefore advise patience, structure and clear routines in his new home, along with plenty of time to decompress. We will be on board with his new owners throughout the process, ensuring that his next home truly is his forever one. Adoption Fee (Ā£400) Microchipped Please accept cookies to access this content
