He would benefit from adopters who can continue to build his confidence and advocate for him in these situations.________________________________________MedicalNeutering: Ace is currently entire and will require neutering in the future as advised by the rescue and veterinary team.Veterinary care: No concerns reported. Like name, like nature! This handsome chap is Ace and he’s a 4 year old Frenchie, arriving with us due to no fault of his own. He’s quite a laid back chap – his priorities in life involve food, fuss and a good roll in the grass! He has been good with other dogs here at the centre, but generally prefers a quieter life so would prefer any canine companion to be happy for a little play, but more woah, than go! We are helping to find a home for Alfie who is a 4 year old Frenchie. Sadly his owner has become unwell and is not able to take care of him. Alfie is a really nice dog; he is very affectionate and loves lots of cuddles. He is good with children but not always with other dogs. Ideally he would be best suited to a quiet home as the only pet so he can get lots of fuss and attention. This young boy is full of energy, character, and affection. He absolutely loves other dogs and is happiest when making new canine friends and enjoying a good play session. Bear can be a little shy when meeting new people for the first time, but with a little patience and kindness, he soon shows his friendly, loving nature and forms strong bonds with those around him. Bear is looking for a home that will give him the time and understanding he needs to settle into a new environment. Once he feels safe and secure, he is a wonderful companion who will reward you with plenty of love and loyalty. He can be left alone for short periods and could potentially live with another dog, subject to successful introductions at the centre. Bear may also be suitable to live with sensible secondary schoolaged children and above. To help keep him comfortable, Bear currently receives ear drops twice a month to maintain good ear health and cleanliness. Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home

Bella is looking for an experienced owner who have plenty of time to help her settle into her new home. She will need to have company all day with someone who can help teach her that it is okay being left. Bella would like to be the only pet though may be able to live with high school aged children. Bella is a real sweetheart of a girl who is snuggly and an extremely loving, loyal companion. She adores human contact and just wants to be with you though her love of human company does mean she finds it difficult being away from people, however through patience and consistency, she does have the ability to settle on her own for short periods. This is still a work in progress so once she goes home, her new owner will need to be fully committed to start from the beginning and very gradually build up her leaving time at a pace she is comfortable with. Bella is playful and loves to go for her walks though she can get mouthy and grab at her lead through her excitement in the beginning. She is generally friendly with other dogs though they do not always appreciate her playstyle so any interactions she has will need to be monitored. Once she has had her fun for the day, she likes getting comfy in a cosy bed or will sprawl herself across your lap for a snooze.

French Bulldog, 4 years old, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and he was a proper little shit so needs an owner used to this type of dog.Write up UPDATED:This boy has come along so much from the badly behaved dog that arrived with us back in September 2025. Don't get me wrong he can still be a little shit but he seems to be our little shit now and has accepted the staff and most of the volunteers as his people.Bentley is seeking a very experienced handler who will not take any of his nonsense. He has failed in several homes mainly because the advice given wasn't followed. 12 hours in a new home is not what this boy needs, it will take weeks for him to adjust and bond with his new person but once he does he has so much genuine love and affection to give - we see it here daily from him.He goes out on a daily basis with all the different dog walkers - that was an impossible job at the beginning. He now wants fuss and affection and lets you in to his "space". Don't get me wrong he does still have the odd day where he reverts back to demon dog but then he remembers that being good = rewards and good things.Bentley is definitely not for a novice dog owner but if you have had previous experience with dogs that like to get their own way and occasional temper tantrums and are up for a challenge then Bentley may be the dog for you.Personally I would say he would be better off as the only pet in the home as you don't want his bad habits rubbing off and also he could not be homed with another male dog as he is a bit hit and miss with them - seems to prefer the pretty girls He will need a home where he is going to get the love and attention he needs (in time) as well as the right amount of exercise, training and stimulation.He has obviously previously been shut away for hours in a small space which has caused his guarding of his space so maybe not go to a home where he will be left for long periods of time and no crates.Definitely no children under 16 years old, older or none preferred.Cats and other small furries are unknown and untested.A secure garden with adequate height fencing is a must.When Bentley first came in to us:-Bentley has guarding issues with his "space" be it a crate, a kennel, his room basically anywhere that he is shut in or where he feels enclosed. Approaching that space he behaves like a rabid beast on crack but open the door, let him out and you are able to carry on the day as if nothing has happened so for a dog that has found himself stuck in the kennel system it is very hard.There is a very nice dog inside the little monster that we see most mornings. He goes out quite happily with the dog walkers without issue. He loves his toys especially stuffed ones that he can rip apart, the quicker the better. He loves his food and treats and takes them nicely.If you feel you are up for a challenge then this is the ideal dog for you. He will need a home where he is going to get the love and attention he needs as well as the right amount of exercise and stimulation. He has obviously previously been shut away for hours in a small space which has caused this hatred so maybe not go to a home where he will be left for long periods of time.
