Albie

Hampshire
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedUnknown

At just 13 months old, Albie has already come so far on his journey and is now ready to find the loving family he deserves. Albie is a medium-sized, neutered mixed-breed boy who came into foster care in February. When he first arrived, he was terrified of people and found any kind of touch frightening. He would run away and hide, taking comfort from following his foster family's resident dog, who became his guide and source of reassurance. Happiness didn't seem to come easily to him. Fast forward a few months, and Albie is blossoming into the most wonderful young dog. Now, when his family comes downstairs in the morning or arrives home, he greets them with the sweetest wiggly bum and wagging tail. He actively seeks out affection, enjoys cuddles, and will happily roll over for a tummy rub when he's feeling relaxed and confident. Albie has worked incredibly hard to build trust and confidence. He has learned to sit patiently and wait for his food and treats, and he would love a family who will continue his training and help him discover just how much the world has to offer. One of Albie's favourite things is spending time with his foster family's children. He loves to play chase games, gets excited when they come home from school, and enjoys being part of the family routine. While he's waiting for playtime, you'll often find him having fun with the resident dog or following their lead. Because of his gentle and sensitive nature, Albie is looking for a home with experienced owners who understand nervous dogs and are willing to give him the time, patience, and encouragement he needs. He absolutely thrives alongside other dogs and gains huge confidence from them, so a resident dog is essential for him. Albie is dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and has happily interacted with visiting dogs. He is submissive rather than dominant and simply wants to make friends and play. Although Albie has not yet ventured out on regular walks, he is ready to start exploring the world at his own pace. Initially, he would benefit from spending time in a secure enclosed area where he can build confidence outdoors safely. Albie's story could have been very different. Before coming into foster care, he was living in an overcrowded public shelter where every day was filled with fear and uncertainty. Watching him discover that life can be fun, safe, and full of love has been truly special. Now all that's missing is a forever family to continue that journey. ️ Could you be the person to give Albie the amazing future he's been waiting for? Albie's ideal home: Young child-free home Secure enclosed garden required Experience of nervous or fearful dogs Dog and cat friendly Resident dog(s) essential to help build his confidence In foster in Hampshire Albie really is a very special boy, and whoever adopts him will have the privilege of watching him continue to grow into the happy, confident dog he was always meant to be.

BreedUnknown

Annie is a 6-month-old sweetheart who is continuing to grow in confidence every single day. She is a gentle, thoughtful young pup who is slowly learning that the world is a safe and happy place. Since arriving in foster care, Annie has made lovely progress and is now showing her affectionate, playful side more and more. She adores her walks and is walking well on the lead. She is becoming increasingly comfortable with everyday sights and sounds, including traffic, and will happily greet other dogs and their humans with a polite sniff and a gentle tail wag. Annie is a bright little girl who is doing really well with her training. She is confident with “sit,” “down,” and “spin,” and is currently learning “wait” and “paw.” She is very food motivated and already shows excellent manners, sitting and waiting calmly for her meals and allowing gentle handling even while she is eating. One of the biggest changes in Annie’s progress has been her growing confidence with people and other animals. She is now enjoying the company of her foster dog sibling and loves to play with him—having another dog around has clearly helped her come out of her shell and feel more secure. She is also slowly building trust with her foster family’s 8-year-old son. Where she once kept her distance, she is now choosing to approach for gentle strokes. While she is still unsure when he runs around, she is continuing to learn and improve with time, patience, and calm experiences. Annie is also very respectful of the household rabbit, offering a gentle sniff before backing away when asked, showing her soft and responsive nature. At home, Annie is a calm and affectionate companion. She enjoys snuggling up on the sofa with both her humans and doggy friend and is very settled in the home environment. She now sleeps peacefully through the night in her crate, settling after a short period of whining, and is fully house trained—alerting when she needs to go outside. ️ Annie’s lovely qualities: Gentle, sweet-natured and affectionate Walking well on the lead House trained and reliable Crate trained and settling well overnight Great with other dogs (thrives with canine companionship) Cat/rabbit aware and respectful Loves cuddles and sofa time Very food motivated and eager to learn Ideal home for Annie: Calm, quiet household Patient adopters willing to continue her confidence building Another friendly resident dog preferred Gentle, dog-savvy children considered (calm interactions best) In foster in Portsmouth Annie is a truly lovely young dog who is still finding her feet in the world. Betty

Hampshire
SexFemale
Age1 year
BreedBulldog x Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Personality:Betty is a lovely affectionate girl who is just starting to show her playful side! This adorable lady came to us from a quiet home and so she was initially very scared but has now made loads of friends and is definitely ready to find her very own lap to occupy. She enjoys the company of her human friends and belly rubs, she will throw herself all over your lap for cuddles. Betty can be nervous of new places/things and has had to take things slowly at the centre. She is most relaxed in our home environment where she loves the sofa to lay on.Behaviour:Where Betty can be nervous of new people, she will initially cower away, but she will make friends very quickly in a controlled way. On a walk Betty is still learning about the world and can get overwhelmed quickly, pull on the lead and gets flustered. New experiences will need to be spaced out and taken at Bettys pace. She can be strong on lead but is doing well with her training here at the centre, but this will need to be continued in the home.Housing:Betty will need her own private secure garden, and will need someone at home for the majority of the day whilst she gets used to being left on her own. She cannot be rehomed to he PO3 area.Children/pets:Betty loves her dog friends but needs to be the only pet in the household as she can be a little much. She has made lots of dog friends out on walks and so could have walking companions. Betty cannot live with children.Vet history:Betty is up to date with her flea and worming treatment, she will need to be returned to the centre to be spayed once she has settled.

Bonnie, a 2 years old female Unknown available for adoption from A New Leash For Life in Hampshire

A New Leash For Life

Bonnie

Hampshire
SexFemale
Age2 years
BreedUnknown

Bonnie is an 18-month-old spayed Romanian rescue who is searching once again for her forever home after an adoption sadly didn't work out through no fault of her own. Bonnie has quickly reminded everyone just how much love, fun, and personality she has to offer. She is a vibrant, energetic young dog with a huge heart and an even bigger zest for life. Bonnie is the kind of dog who throws herself into everything with enthusiasm. Whether she's playing with her canine companions, exploring the garden, learning new things, or curling up for affection, she does it wholeheartedly. She has settled beautifully alongside her three foster dog siblings and absolutely thrives in the company of other dogs. They help provide structure, companionship, and opportunities for play, all of which Bonnie loves. Because of this, we feel she would be happiest in a home with another confident dog—or even two—who can show her the ropes and help maintain healthy boundaries. Bonnie is incredibly affectionate and forms strong bonds with her people very quickly. She adores human company, loves cuddles, and will happily soak up all the attention you can give her. However, she can become a little too attached and sometimes forget that she doesn't need to be in charge of everyone she loves. Her forever family will need to continue helping her understand boundaries and build confidence in sharing attention and relaxing independently. At just 18 months old, Bonnie is still very much a youngster and has plenty of learning ahead of her. The good news is that she is intelligent, eager to please, and highly food motivated, making training enjoyable and rewarding. She already knows "sit," her recall is progressing nicely, and she is keen to continue learning with the right guidance. Bonnie's highlights: Loves people and affection Thrives with other dogs Food motivated and eager to learn Recall training progressing well Can be left for up to 5 hours with canine company Cat friendly with sensible, dog-savvy cats Playful, fun, and full of personality Bonnie has not been crate trained in her current foster home and has settled well without one. She can live with cats, although she does enjoy following and sniffing them when she's feeling playful. Any resident cats should therefore be confident and accustomed to living with dogs. Because of her energy levels and ongoing training needs, Bonnie would do best with older children who can participate in her training, provide consistent boundaries, and understand when she needs time to settle and calm down. Bonnie's ideal home: Another confident resident dog (or dogs) Active family committed to ongoing training Older, dog-savvy children considered Consistent boundaries and leadership Plenty of affection, companionship, and enrichment In foster in Hampshire Bonnie has so much potential and so much love to give. She is affectionate, clever, entertaining, and endlessly loyal. What she needs now is a family who will embrace her exuberant personality, continue her training, and give her the stability she deserves. Could you be the one to give Bonnie the forever home she has been waiting for?

A New Leash For Life

Cara

Hampshire
SexFemale
Age2 years
BreedUnknown

Sweet little Cara is approximately 18 months old and is now ready to find her forever home after beginning a remarkable journey of learning that the world can be a safe and happy place. When Cara first arrived into foster care, she was very shut down and overwhelmed by everything around her. Over the past few months, she has slowly started to come out of her shell and is beginning to show the playful, affectionate little girl who was hidden underneath her fear. Every small step forward has been a huge achievement for her, and she is now starting to understand that she doesn’t need to be afraid. Her confidence is growing day by day, and it is a real joy to watch her blossom. Cara is still nervous around new people and unfamiliar situations, especially in the outside world, but she is improving all the time. She needs a calm, patient home that will continue to support her at her own pace and celebrate each milestone along the way. Small/medium size (approx. 10kg) Sleeps peacefully through the night Can be left alone for several hours Walks nicely on a lead Loves her bed, which is her safe and comforting space In foster, Cara lives with two resident dogs and has proven herself to be a gentle, submissive girl. She absolutely adores playing with them in the garden and is learning so much from their confidence and companionship. Having another calm, friendly dog in her forever home would be hugely beneficial for her continued progress. She enjoys her walks and is beginning to discover the world outside with more curiosity. While she can still be unsure—especially when meeting other dogs—she will often pause, take things in, and then continue on with gentle encouragement. With every outing, her confidence grows a little more. Cara sleeps through the night without a sound and is a quiet, undemanding companion in the home. When she is not playing or exploring the garden, she is often found relaxing in her bed, quietly observing the world around her as she processes everything at her own pace. Home requirements: Adult-only home or home with dog-savvy children aged 12+ Calm and patient adopters willing to go at her pace Another friendly resident dog preferred Understanding of nervous/rescue dogs Currently in foster near Petersfield, Hampshire Cara’s journey is still unfolding, but she has already come so far. What she needs now is someone who will see her potential, give her time, and gently guide her as she continues to learn that life is not something to fear. In return, Cara will reward that patience with quiet affection, trust, and a bond that grows stronger every day. ️ Could you be the one to give Cara the safe, loving forever home she has been waiting for?

Cooper, a 1 year old male Jack Russell Terrier x Poodle available for adoption from RSPCA in Hampshire

RSPCA

Cooper

Hampshire
SexMale
Age1 year
BreedJack Russell Terrier x Poodle

Personality:Our gorgeous Cooper has had quite the journey since his arrival at the Ark but now he’s feeling confident enough to search for his forever home! Cooper has been with us for some time as everything was very overwhelming and scary for him when he first arrived in our care. He is gradually showing us his fun, cheeky side as his confidence continues to grow each day and we are looking for a dedicated and patient home who will be willing to listen and work with the team in helping Cooper settle and continue to build on the progress he’s made so far.Behaviour:Cooper came from a multi dog household and likely has not experienced much in the way of human interaction or the outside world. Upon Cooper’s arrival at the Ark he was very worried by both the environment and people. Slowly he has managed to build good relationships with staff here at the centre though he can still flinch and freeze around handling. He is beginning to show an interest in contact with people and occasionally will enjoy a very short fuss, new adopters need to be understanding and willing to provide him space and the opportunity to engage in these moments at his own pace.Cooper enjoys spending time with other dogs and can get a little confidence boost form spending time with them. His play can get a little over the top at times but can be managed, so whilst we are looking for Cooper to be an only pet he would massively benefit from having dog friends to join out on his walks!Out on walks Cooper is still very much finding his feet. He is a very brave boy and takes a lot of things in his stride but his exposure to the outside and new experiences will need to be done gradually and carefully. Despite his start in life Cooper has amazed us with his resilience and willingness to experience the world, we know that with patience and time he is going to make a wonderful addition to his new home!Housing:Cannot be rehomed to the PO1 area. Cooper will need access to a private and secure garden to explore. He will also benefit from a space where he can go to be undisturbed and potential adopters should be prepared to corner spaces off with the use of stair gates. We feel that Cooper will benefit from a quieter, adult only household with 1-2 members and limited visitors.Children/pets:Cooper is looking for an adult only home. Please note, applications with visiting or resident children will not be processed. Cooper will also need a home without other animals but would benefit from dog friends to meet up with outside the home, especially when he first starts exploring.Vet history:Cooper is up to date with flea, worming and vaccinations. He has no current ongoing medical conditions. Cooper is currently on a course of on-going behaviour medication which will need to continue as he settles in.

This foster-based dog rescue works to rescue and rehabilitate dogs in a home environment, allowing each dog to be fully assessed in everyday family life alongside other dogs, cats, and typical household routines. The charity supports dogs that can no longer remain with their owners due to circumstances beyond their control, such as illness, bereavement, housing, or financial difficulties, as well as dogs coming from neglect or abuse cases. All dogs receive essential veterinary care, including neutering, vaccination, and microchipping, before being considered for adoption. Rehoming is carefully managed through home checks, with a strong focus on finding the most suitable, long-term match for each individual dog rather than placing dogs quickly.

More Information

Hampshire offers a wide range of living environments, from coastal communities to rural villages and busy commuter towns. Rescue dogs adopted in the county are often matched with homes based on routine, available exercise, and household setup rather than location alone. Many Hampshire-based rescues work across large areas, using foster homes to assess dogs in real-life settings before rehoming. This approach helps ensure dogs are placed into homes where they can settle confidently and long term.
