Scotland’s varied landscapes, from cities to remote rural areas, make careful matching essential in rescue dog adoption. Dogs rehomed across Scotland are often matched based on lifestyle, exercise needs and home environment rather than distance alone. Many rescues operate across large geographic areas and use foster care to prepare dogs for adoption. Regional adoption supports responsible placements and long-term welfare.

Reserved: AldoReserved: MaisieReserved: Maisie Aldo is a beautiful 7 month old male Labrador Retriever. His owners health means he needs a new home. Aldo is eating James Wellbeloved and likes his treats. He likes to spend time in the garden and his favourite toy is a brush head which he proudly likes to carry about with him. He would be best in a home with older kids as he can be bouncy and likes to jump up. Preferably someone who has time to give him lots of attention and walks to burn off his energy. Aldo is registered with the vets and crate trained. He hasn’t been around cats so a home with no cats is best. He is very friendly and likes to meet other people and dogs. Aldo is also up to date with all his jags.

Alice, a 6 months old female German Shepherd available for adoption from Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home in Scotland

Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home

Alice

Scotland
SexFemale
Age6 months
BreedGerman Shepherd

Alice is looking for an owner who have the time to fully commit to her. She would like access to a private garden to work on housetraining and will need to be kept company for most of the day. Alice may be able to live with older children who won’t be worried by her bouncy nature and possibly another dog pending successful introductions. Alice is your typical boisterous but friendly youngster who has sadly not had much consistency in her short life. She has proven to be very clever but as she reaches adolescence, is pushing the boundaries and can be vocal if feeling frustrated so she needs a patient and committed owner who are prepared to take her along to training classes and help guide her in the right direction of growing into a well-rounded adult dog. As she is still young, she should not be overexercised though her need for an active lifestyle will increase as she reaches adulthood. Her love for food and tennis balls means she thoroughly enjoys her enrichment sessions which helps tire her out. Alice can make friends with dogs once she has had the chance to say hello though if she was to live with one it will need to be one that will tolerate her boisterous behaviour whilst she continues to learn. Alice has had veterinary investigations for her hips. More information will be discussed with successful applicants.

BreedLabrador

Are you right for Alvie?Stunning youngster Alvie is a 2 year old Lab who has more energy than he knows what to do with! Our behaviour team would be happy to work alongside his new family to support with these behaviours during and after his adoption. Although Alvie is a very sociable fella, he'd love to make friends whilst out and about on his walks, but he'd be best placed as the only dog in the home at the moment, and to have quick access into a garden space of some sort. This gorgeous golden boy has had an unsettled start in life so is looking for an experienced and dedicated family who can help him thrive. Is Alvie right for you?Adorable Alvie is able to be left home alone for around 4 hours once he is settled. As a typical Lab, he does love his food so he is eager to learn tricks for some tasty treats! Alvie is also not the biggest fan of the car, so wouldn't be keen to plan any big road trips at the moment. Alvie has some ongoing medical requirements that our vet team can discuss in more detail with his future family. He would love to meet his family several times at the centre, and have some sleepovers, before he is adopted to help set him up for success, as he has had multiple homes already. This handsome lad is a huge personality and he is super playful - he's going to make a very rewarding addition to a committed family. Animal Welfare licence number is AWE02, as licenced by Glasgow City Council.

Are you right for Amy?Amy is an 11-year-old Chihuahua with a big love for life, looking for a home with her best friend Joe, a 4-year-old Chihuahua. These two are the perfect pair, enjoying their little walks together before heading home to snuggle up on their favourite doughnut bed, which is just the cutest sight to see.Amy is the definition of chilled out and nothing much fazes her- she takes everything in her little stride. She loves getting out to explore and happily potters around the paddocks, taking in all the sights and smells, often while joe sits with his human friends- she's definitely the more adventurous chihuahua out of the pair. An independent lady, Amy is also an amazing companion and role model for Joe, helping him grow in confidence just by being by his side.Amy does have a heart murmur, but it doesn’t slow her down day to day and we would still encourage any applications that are concerned about this. Amy has so much love to give and plenty of adventures left in her.Amy and Joe are looking for a calm, adult-only home where they can be the only pets and enjoy a relaxed life full of companionship, gentle adventures, and lots of cosy cuddles. Alright, show a bit of decorum. Under wraps for now until we find out a little more about him. Dropped off the radar after December 2024 and hasn’t exactly set the track on fire in his trials since. Small chap at 30 kgs but not disgraced by any means, with 10 wins under his belt.“An absolutely stunning fawn boy with a few ‘snowflake’ spots. He has the most beautiful eyes with full eyeliner…. He was timid though, and a bit reluctant to start the walk and all around the track. He didn’t show any aggression, even with Aaron bouncing around. HOWEVER! Once in the car park, his tail came up, and even started wagging. He was more confident, and was happy to have a look around. Craig said once he gets to know you, he isn’t timid. He did walk nicely by my side in the car park, but needed encouragement on the track. My gut feeling is that he doesn’t like the track. I would think he would do better in a quiet home, maybe with another hound for confidence.“
