Alfie, a 10 months old male Golden Retriever X Poodle available for adoption from Dog Aid Scotland in Scotland

Dog Aid Scotland

Alfie

Scotland
SexMale
Age10 months
BreedGolden Retriever X Poodle

Young Alfie is looking for a new home where his training can be continued and he can have company most of the time. His new owner(s) must be used to large dogs. At 10 months, he may not look it but Alfie is still a puppy and he needs to learn some manners. His new home must have a garden.Alfie is a BFG who loves cuddles and affection. He would make a great family dog, but we recommend any children in the home are older, ideally teenagers, as Alfie is large and has no self-awareness.Alfie is very excited to greet people to the home but will settle next to them for attention after a few minutes. On walks, he is more excited to see other dogs than people and he just wants to say hello and play. But in his excitement, he can be rude to other dogs and needs to learn manners, especially with smaller dogs. Alfie tends to pull on the lead, which can be helped with training but he will need strong owners who are able to walk him with confidence. Alfie has only been let off the lead in a secure field and his recall has been hit or miss, so this is another thing to be worked on in his new home.Alfie can get bored and become destructive when left alone. He is used to having company and does not like being left alone. He will growl or bark at a noise outside the home but stop when it has passed. He is scared of loud noises such as a hairdryer or hoover. Alfie has been to the groomers and is fine with being washed and brushed.Alfie likes a good sniff and would enjoy going to scentwork classes. He can already do ‘sit’, ‘wait’ and ‘lie down’ on command and some further training and brain work will help him become more settled. Alfie travels very well in the car and loves going on good walks.Alfie is a big lovable boy who needs the right guidance and care for his age and breed. His new home needs to have the patience and willingness to train Alfie but he has so much potential; he will thrive in an active, loving home. Please apply for Alfie if you think your home is perfect for Alfie!

Alright, show a bit of decorum. Under wraps for now until we find out a little more about him. Dropped off the radar after December 2024 and hasn’t exactly set the track on fire in his trials since. Small chap at 30 kgs but not disgraced by any means, with 10 wins under his belt.“An absolutely stunning fawn boy with a few ‘snowflake’ spots. He has the most beautiful eyes with full eyeliner…. He was timid though, and a bit reluctant to start the walk and all around the track. He didn’t show any aggression, even with Aaron bouncing around. HOWEVER! Once in the car park, his tail came up, and even started wagging. He was more confident, and was happy to have a look around. Craig said once he gets to know you, he isn’t timid. He did walk nicely by my side in the car park, but needed encouragement on the track. My gut feeling is that he doesn’t like the track. I would think he would do better in a quiet home, maybe with another hound for confidence.“

Astrid

Scotland
SexFemale
Age5 years
BreedBelgian Malinois

Available: Astrid Astrid is a 5 year old female German Shepherd x Belgian Malinois. She is available and looking for a new home. Astrid is chipped and spayed and also healthy with no medical issues. She would suit a home with someone who is active and can give her plenty of walks and attention. Astrid eats a mix of wet and dry food and can be left on her own. She travels well in the van with her dog walker but can be car sick. She sleeps in her owners room at night either on the bed or her own bed on the floor. Astrid likes to meet new people and gets excited. She would be fine around teenagers but not small children. Astrid doesn’t like cats. She is registered with the vets. She is fine on group walks but when she is with her owner she can be reactive to other dogs as she thinks she is protecting her owner. A home with no other animals is best for Astrid and her needs. She is use to spending time alone at home with background music left on for her. Astrid is excellent at letting you know when she needs the toilet. She is kept on a lead when out on walks as she can be reactive to other dogs but not all dogs. She is also use to a long lead and loves to play with her toy or a ball. Astrid sees playing with toys or a ball as a job and doesn't pay much attention to other dogs unless they come into her space.

As demand grew, DAWGS expanded into kennels and later developed a network of foster homes, widening its reach across the country. Today, the charity continues to be driven by its volunteers, combining hands-on support, careful rehoming, and community fundraising to give dogs a second chance at a happy life.

Help2Rehome Scotland is a private registered rehoming organisation that supports pet owners across Scotland in finding new homes for their animals when they can no longer care for them. Without operating kennels or a central base, the organisation ensures pets remain either with their previous owners or in foster homes, believing animals thrive best in warm, home environments rather than kennels. A network of volunteers, including home checkers and transport drivers, works together to safely match pets with suitable new families. All prospective adopters undergo a home check before rehoming, helping ensure every animal transitions into a secure and loving forever home.

Scotland’s varied landscapes, from cities to remote rural areas, make careful matching essential in rescue dog adoption. Dogs rehomed across Scotland are often matched based on lifestyle, exercise needs and home environment rather than distance alone. Many rescues operate across large geographic areas and use foster care to prepare dogs for adoption. Regional adoption supports responsible placements and long-term welfare.
