Handsome 3.5 year old AL arrived with us on the 9th May 2026.AL loves to see the volunteer walkers and walks well on the lead. He is interested to see there are other breeds of dog on his walks but doesn't react negatively towards them. He has shown he is a confident, friendly and affectionate boy who also enjoys spending time in the enrichment (home from home) room playing with toys.AL doesn't like to miss out and loves to be involved in everything that's going on! He could live in a home with another female hound or would be equally happy as an only dog. We think AL would prefer to live with older children, 10 years plus.Details of our homing requirements can be found on this link: https://makants.uk/adopt-foster/

Albie, a 6 years old male Bulldog available for adoption from Pennine Pen Animal Rescue in Greater Manchester

Pennine Pen Animal Rescue

Albie

Greater Manchester
SexMale
Age6 years
BreedBulldog

Albie arrived into our care after being found tied to a bench in a busy town centre. He was taken in by the dog wardens and brought to us from the pound. When Albie first arrived, he was understandably terrified of everyone and everything around him. He could not understand what was happening and was clearly overwhelmed by his situation. Thankfully, it only took a few hours for him to begin trusting one of his carers, and that bond helped him gain confidence in both his surroundings and the rest of the team.Albie arrived in a heart-breaking condition. He was extremely underweight, had bald patches on his legs, and his nails were severely overgrown, making it painful for him to walk. It was clear he had suffered neglect and had not received the care he deserved.Fast forward just a short time, and the progress he has made is incredible. Despite everything he has been through, Albie remains a sweet, affectionate, and happy boy. Once he trusts you, he forms a very strong bond and is an absolute pleasure to be around. He adores attention, cuddles, and fuss, and watching him learn to feel safe again has truly melted our hearts.Health-wise, Albie is already thriving. With regular meals he has started gaining weight, his nails were trimmed on arrival, bringing him instant relief, and he has enjoyed a well-deserved pampering session and bath. He now smells wonderful, and his coat is looking brighter and healthier every day.Albie is confident and affectionate with the people he knows, but he finds new people quite intimidating. When meeting strangers, he will often retreat and hide until he feels safe enough to come out on his own terms. He takes comfort from familiar people and prefers to observe from a distance before deciding whether he wants to say hello. Importantly, he is not reactive in any way.In his future home, we feel a crate or designated safe space would benefit him greatly, giving him somewhere secure to retreat to whenever he feels overwhelmed.Once he knows and trusts you, Albie is happy to jump in and out of a vehicle independently. He absolutely loves his walks and is very confident when out and about. He enjoys exploring the world around him and looks to his handler for guidance. He has shown himself to be dog-social and has been non-reactive around other dogs.In fact, Albie can sometimes feel more confident meeting new people when another friendly dog is present, so homes with an existing dog may be considered following successful introductions.Albie has come such a long way in a short space of time and now deserves a loving, patient family who will continue to help him build confidence and enjoy the life he should always have had.APPOINTMENT ONLY from 1pm – 3pm Monday to SundayRescue Centre Address: Honeywell Lane, Oldham, OL8 2JPParking: Free parking facing the RescuePennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO has been in operation since 2001, serving the needs of the local community of Oldham. Meet Alfonzo – Our Gorgeous Greyhound Prince Alfonzo hasn’t had the easiest start in life, but this beautiful greyhound boy is ready to find the special home he truly deserves. He was sadly found in a pound, and life hasn’t always been kind to him. His sight is fading – one vet believes it may be the result of blunt trauma in the past – but despite everything, Alfonzo’s gentle and loving nature shines through. He is currently on eye drops, and Hector’s Greyhound Rescue will remain responsible for all eye-related vet bills for the rest of his life, so his future family can focus on giving him love and comfort. The home Alfonzo needsAn experienced home with understanding owners.Ideally rural or semi-rural, with a large, secure garden where he can safely play and potter about.Older children only, and no other pets – Alfonzo deserves to be the only prince of the household. He isn’t able to go on long walks, so a family who are happy to enjoy time with him at home and play in the garden will be perfect.Like many sighthounds, Alfonzo still has a high prey drive, so when out in public he will need to be walked on lead and wear his muzzle. Why Alfonzo?Alfonzo is incredibly loving and loyal. He may not need big adventures, but what he longs for is companionship, comfort, and kindness. After everything he has been through, he deserves a calm, stable, and devoted forever home where he can finally feel safe and cherished.Racing name: Alfredo CourtI walk well on the lead6+yearsI need to be in a home without catsI am happy to be alone for short periodsI am not small dog friendlyI am housetrainedI need work on my recall

Alice

Greater Manchester
SexFemale
Age6 years
BreedGreyhound

6 year old Alice joined us in September and soon settled in. This lovely girl, even though she is six years of age, is very fit for her age and does look forward to her daily walks.Alice is a character, is full of personality and doesn't want to miss a thing. She especially loves toys and to pinch them off other greyhounds if possible!Alice is a very affectionate girl with all our volunteers and also loves to spend time with the other greyhounds. She has already spent some time in our enrichment (home from home) room which she fully inspected, enjoyed playing with toys, but was quite curious about the T.V. on the wall. For Alice we’re looking for a home with someone who has experience of larger dogs, but not necessarily greyhounds. We feel Alice would be happy to live as an only hound or could equally happily live with another male hound. She would benefit from the company of an adopter who is at home a large amount of time, and this is especially important during the initial settling in phase. We feel Alice would be best suited to live with older children 13 plus. Details of our homing requirements, along with an application form, can be found on

Alizari, a 5 years old female German Shepherd available for adoption from Manchester and Cheshire Dogs Home in Greater Manchester

Manchester and Cheshire Dogs Home

Alizari

Greater Manchester
SexFemale
Age5 years
BreedGerman Shepherd

This beautiful girl is Alizari. She is looking for a patient and understanding home where she can continue to grow. When she first arrived in our care, she was timid and nervous around new people and situations. However, with time, consistency, and gentle handling, she has really come out of her shell with our staff. Once she trusts you, she absolutely loves fuss, attention and being close to her people. She will require some basic house training in her new home, so her adopters should be prepared to invest time and patience to help her settle into a routine. She appears to be under-socialised with other dogs and can be reactive in certain situations. For this reason, we are seeking an experienced owner who understands canine body language and is confident managing and continuing her training. Any introductions to other dogs should be carefully managed. Despite her challenges, she is a lovely dog with so much potential. In the right home, with continued guidance and reassurance, we believe she will make a loyal and devoted companion. If you have experience with German Shepherds and can offer a calm, structured environment, this special girl could be the perfect addition to your home. She will need a private secure garden.Alizari will need to be the only dog in the home and cannot live with cats.As She came into the home as a stray we have no previous history on her so would prefer any children in the home to be 14+ years. If you have a holiday booked in the next 3 months please wait until you return to apply for a dog.*Applications that are successful will be provided with further information on each dog to the best of the charity’s knowledge.

Gorgeous Amelia has been waiting THREE YEARS to be chosen ! We can't quite understand why./Found abandoned as a pup on the mountains of Greece, Amelia came to the UK 4 years ago and lived happily in what she hoped was her forever home, until her family gave her up due to a new baby. She has now been in foster for nearly three years. She is loved, happy and has made huge strides but can't stay where she is forever and needs a family of her own. A shy girl at first, Amelia needs someone who will give her a bit of space to work things out but is SUPER affectionate when she trusts you. Her favourite trick is sitting on her bottom with paws up waiting for a treat. When she first arrived in foster, Amelia's anxiety made her dog-reactive but this clever girl has turned things around! Thanks to the commitment, patience and love, of her foster family, Amelia now happily walks past other dogs on a walk and could, with careful integrataion, learn to live with another dog. She would probably do best in an adults only home.Amelia looks super cute in a birthday hat but we don't want her to celebrate a THIRD year without a forever family! Please contact us if you are interested in helping Amelia .

Some dogs are Extra Special . Meet Angus, a gentle Shepherd whose heart is literally breaking as he waits and hopes for a family.3 year old Angus has a chronic heart condition (well managed by medication) which means the stress of life at the shelter could kill him. When we first met Angus last April he was super shy. Not reactive, just worried about our intentions. We asked his rescuer, Sofia to work with him, socialising and training him around people to prepare for domestic life.We needed to know if he could cope. Angus has amazed us with his progress. He used to flinch at the reach of a hand. Now he trusts and asks for rubs. He used to hide his head from treats. Now, he comes to you for tasty favours. He has been an absolute angel during his Veterinary visits, travels well in the car, loves dogs, cats and is not destructive.Angus still needs love, patience and lots of love to continue his progress. His medication costs are £47 a month. It’s a commitment we ask his adopter to be prepared to make for life. Meanwhile, we would commit to fundraising for the costs of his travel to the UK.We see huge potential in this sweet boy. His heart may be a little broken but it is full of love. We think he deserves the best shot at a long and happy life. Do you? Please contract us if you can help by adopting beautiful Angus.

Annabel, a 1 year old female Unknown available for adoption from PawPrints To Freedom in Cheshire

Annabel

Cheshire
SexFemale
Age1 year
BreedUnknown

️ Annabel.. have you seen her ears though??!! She has only been at the kennels in Nantwich for a few weeks but it’s taking her a while to find her feet, especially as she is used to living in a home. She was returned due to some issues with the male in the house but she is still a young dog and is finding her setting overwhelming and is sad when she gets left alone.Annabel is very fearful and this manifests in her overcompensating when people approach her kennel. It’s just noise though because as soon as you approach she does jump up to say hello. She is definitely more wary of men than women and does try to hide from the males if they approach.Annabel walks nicely on the lead, does have the occasional bouts of pulling, but settles quickly. She does sometimes tend to fixate on other dogs but is getting better. She is a bit fearful of traffic but enjoys saying hello to people.Annabel hasn’t really mixed with other dogs at the kennels yet but is happy to be walked in a pack and plays with them through the fence. She would be happy to live with other dogs or to be the only dog in the household.Annabel doesn’t like to be left alone for long periods so she would need a family that were around a lot of the time. She would be perfectly content fulfilling the role of your little shadow so if there is a vacancy in your life, she is ready and willing.Annabel will develop in confidence once she gets to know you but she will need a patient, possibly female led home who understand it will take her time to settle and show her true personality. Once she trusts you though she will show you her loving, playful nature, and her favourite toy. She just needs a comfy sofa, and her new forever family by her side to help her shine.️

The North West is a diverse region for rescue dog adoption, combining major cities with countryside and coastal areas. Dogs rehomed here are often matched carefully to suit busy households, families or more rural lifestyles.
